1Landscape Ecology:Coupling of Pattern,Process,and Scale显示文摘Landscape ecology provides new theoretical frameworks and methodologies for understanding complex ecological phenomena at multiple scales.Studies of landscape ecology focus on understanding the dynamics of eco-logical patterns and processes,and highlight the integration of multiple disciplines.In this paper,we discussed the problems and challenges that landscape ecology is currently facing,emphasizing the limitations of current methods used to describe dynamic landscape patterns and processes.We suggested that the focus should be on the integration of ground-based observation,mobile monitoring,transect survey,and remote-sensing monitoring,as well as improved coupling of experimental and model simulations.In addition,we outlined the research frontiers in landscape ecology,including scaling,integrated pattern and process modeling,and regional synthesis.Lastly,a brief review of pat-tern-process-scale coupling studies in China was provided.We concluded by pointing out that pattern-process-scale interactions,correlations between natural,economic,and social processes,and the coupling of human and natural systems will be major research areas in landscape ecology in the future.FU Bojie LIANG Di LU Nan 2011Chinese Geographical Science2011,21,4:24
2Blockade of Tim-3 Pathway Ameliorates Interferon-γ Production from Hepatic CD8^+ T Cells in a Mouse Model of Hepatitis B Virus Infection显示文摘T cell immunoglobulin-and mucin-domain-containing molecule-3(Tim-3) has been reported to participate in the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases. However,whether Tim-3 is involved in hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection remains unknown. Here,we studied the expression and function of Tim-3 in a hydrodynamics-based mouse model of HBV infection. A significant increase of Tim-3 expression on hepatic T lymphocytes,especially on CD8+ T cells,was demonstrated in HBV model mice from day 7 to day 18. After Tim-3 knockdown by specific shRNAs,significantly increased IFN-γ production from hepatic CD8+ T cells in HBV model mice was observed. Very interestingly,we found Tim-3 expression on CD8+ T cells was higher in HBV model mice with higher serum anti-HBs production. Moreover,Tim-3 knockdown influenced anti-HBs production in vivo. 3Efficacy of platinum in advanced triple-negative breast cancer with germline BRCA mutation determined by next generation sequencing显示文摘Objective:To compare the efficacy of platinum-and non-platinum-based regimens as first-line treatment for advanced triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)and analyze the relationship between their efficacy and BRCA gene status.Methods:Retrospectively analyze clinical data of 220 patients diagnosed pathologically with advanced TNBC and treated at the Department of Breast Oncology,Peking University Cancer Hospital from 2013 to 2018 and evaluate the efficacy of chemotherapy.A total of 114 patients had BRCA1/2 gene tested by next generation sequencing(NGS)using peripheral blood,and we analyzed the correlation between their efficacy and BRCA1/2 gene status.Results:Non-platinum-based chemotherapy(NPCT)was administered to 129 and platinum-based chemotherapy(PBCT)to 91 study patients.The clinical benefit rate(CBR)and median progression-free survival(PFS)were not statistically different between NPCT and PBCT groups.The median overall survival(OS)was 30.0 and 22.5 months for PBCT and NPCT group,respectively[P=0.090,hazard ratios(HR)=0.703].BRCA status was assessed in 114 patients,14 of whom had deleterious germline BRCA1/2(g BRCA)mutations(seven in each group).In PBCT group,the CBR was 85.7%and 35.1%for patients with and without deleterious g BRCA mutations,respectively(P=0.039).The median PFS were 14.9 and 5.3 months and median OS were 26.5 and 15.5 months for patients with and without deleterious g BRCA mutations,respectively(P=0.001,P=0.161,respectively).Patients in PBCT group had significantly greater rates of grade 3-4 anemia(5.5%vs.0%)and thrombocytopenia(8.8%vs.0%),whereas palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia(12.4%vs.0%)and peripheral neuropathy(8.6%vs.1.1%)occurred more frequently in NPCT group.Conclusions:Platinum-based regimens are more effective in patients with deleterious g BRCA mutations,but no difference in patients without BRCA gene mutations,so non-platinum is an option in patients without BRCA gene mutations considering the toxicity and side effect.And we recommend that patients with advanced TNBC should have BRCA gene test.Nan Wang Kun Li Wenfa Huang Weiyao Kong Xiaoran Liu Weijie Shi Feng Xie Hanfang Jiang Guohong Song Lijun Di Quanren Wang Jianjun Yu Huiping Li 2020Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2020,32,2:7
4On-orbit real-time robust cooperative target identification in complex background显示文摘Cooperative target identification is the prerequisite for the relative position and orientation measurement between the space robot arm and the to-be-arrested object. We propose an onorbit real-time robust algorithm for cooperative target identification in complex background using the features of circle and lines. It first extracts only the interested edges in the target image using an adaptive threshold and refines them to about single-pixel-width with improved non-maximum suppression. Adapting a novel tracking approach, edge segments changing smoothly in tangential directions are obtained. With a small amount of calculation, large numbers of invalid edges are removed. From the few remained edges, valid circular arcs are extracted and reassembled to obtain circles according to a reliable criterion. Finally, the target is identified if there are certain numbers of straight lines whose relative positions with the circle match the known target pattern. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed algorithm accurately identifies the cooperative target within the range of 0.3–1.5 m under complex background at the speed of 8 frames per second, regardless of lighting condition and target attitude. 5Electrical and thermal transport behaviours of high-entropy perovskite thermoelectric oxides显示文摘Oxide-based ceramics could be promising thermoelectric materials because of their thermal and chemical stability at high temperature.However,their mediocre electrical conductivity or high thermal conductivity is still a challenge for the use in commercial devices.Here,we report significantly suppressed thermal conductivity in SrTiO_(3)-based thermoelectric ceramics via high-entropy strategy for the first time,and optimized electrical conductivity by defect engineering.In high-entropy(Ca_(0.2)Sr_(0.2)Ba_(0.2)Pb_(0.2)La_(0.2))TiO_(3)bulks,the minimum thermal conductivity can be 1.17 W/(m·K)at 923 K,which should be ascribed to the large lattice distortion and the huge mass fluctuation effect.The power factor can reach about 295μW/(m·K^(2))by inducing oxygen vacancies.Finally,the ZT value of 0.2 can be realized at 873 K in this bulk sample.This approach proposed a new concept of high entropy into thermoelectric oxides,which could be generalized for designing high-performance thermoelectric oxides with low thermal conductivity.Yunpeng Zheng Mingchu Zou Wenyu Zhang Di Yi Jinle Lan Ce-Wen Nan Yuan-Hua Lin 2021Journal of Advanced Ceramics2021,10,2:5
6800 Gbit/s transmission over 1 km single-mode fiber using a four-channel silicon photonic transmitter显示文摘We demonstrate the optical transmission of an 800 Gbit/s(4×200 Gbit/s)pulse amplitude modulation-4(PAM-4)signal and a 480 Gbit/s(4×120 Gbit/s)on–off-keying(OOK)signal by using a high-bandwidth(BW)silicon photonic(SiP)transmitter with the aid of digital signal processing(DSP).In this transmitter,a four-channel SiP modulator chip is co-packaged with a four-channel driver chip,with a measured 3 dB BW of 40 GHz.DSP is applied in both the transmitter and receiver sides for pre-/post-compensation and bit error rate(BER)calculation.Back-to-back(B2B)BERs of the PAM-4 signal and OOK signal are first measured for each channel of the transmitter with respect to a variety of data rates.Similar BER performance of four channels shows good uniformity of the transmitter between different channels.The BER penalty of the PAM-4 and OOK signals for 500 m and 1 km standard single-mode fiber(SSMF)transmission is then experimentally tested by using one channel of the transmitter.For a 200 Gbit/s PAM-4 signal,the BER is below the hard-decision forward error correction(HD-FEC)threshold for B2B and below the soft-decision FEC(SD-FEC)threshold after 1 km transmission.For a 120 Gbit/s OOK signal,the BER is below SD-FEC threshold for B2B.After 500 m and 1 km transmission,the data rate of the OOK signal shrinks to 119 Gbit/s and 118 Gbit/s with the SD-FEC threshold,respectively.Finally,the 800 Gbit/s PAM-4 signal with 1 km transmission is achieved with the BER of all four channels below the SD-FEC threshold.Hongguang Zhang Miaofeng Li Yuguang Zhang Di Zhang Qiwen Liao Jian He Shenglei Hu Bo Zhang Lei Wang Xi Xiao Nan Qi Shaohua Yu 2020Photonics Research2020,8,11:5
7Comparison between two autorefractor performances in large scale vision screening in Chinese school age children显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the effectiveness of Grand Seiko Ref/Keratometer WAM-5500 compared to Topcon KR800 autorefractor in detecting refractive error in large scale vision screening for Chinese school age children with the WHO criteria.METHODS:A total of 886 participants were enrolled with mean age of 9.49±1.88 y from Tianjin,China.Spherical equivalent(SE)was obtained from un-cycloplegic autorefraction and cycloplegic autorefraction.Topcon KR 800(Topcon)and Grand Seiko WAM-5500(WAM)autorefractors were used.Bland-Altman Plot and regression were generated to compare their performance.The overall effectiveness of detecting early stage refractive error was analyzed with receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves.RESULTS:The mean SE was-0.98±1.81 diopter(D)and the prevalence of myopia was 48.9%defined by WHO criteria according to the result of cycloplegic autorefraction.The mean SE of un-cycloplegic autorefraction with Topcon and WAM were-1.21±1.65 and-1.20±1.68 D respectively.There was a strong linear agreement between result obtained from WAM and cycloplegic autorefraction with an R2 of 0.8318.Bland-Altman plot indicated a moderate agreement of cylinder values between the two methods.The sensitivity and specificity for detecting hyperopia were 90.52%and 83.51%;for detecting myopia were 95.60%and 90.24%;for detecting astigmatism were 79.40%and 90.21%;for detecting high myopia were 98.16%and 98.91%respectively.CONCLUSION:These findings suggest that both Grand Seiko and Topcon autorefractor can be used in large-scale vision screening for detecting refractive error in Chinese population.Grand Seiko gives relatively better performance in detecting myopia,hyperopia,and high myopia for school age children.Di Wang Nan Jin Ru-Xia Pei Li-Qiong Zhao Bei Du Gui-Hua Liu Xi-Lian Wang Rui-Hua Wei Xiao-Rong Li 2020International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2020,13,10:4
8Fundus manifestations and HIV viral loads of AIDS patients before and after HAART显示文摘AIM: To investigate the fundus manifestations and human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) viral loads of acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS) patients before and after highly active antiretroviral therapy(HAART).METHODS: This retrospective study included 21 AIDS patients(42 eyes) who presented to the Department of Ophthalmology, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, from 2007 to 2011. Among the patients, 16 showed a good response to HAART, 3 presented drug resistance and 2 were pre-HAART. All patients underwent comprehensive ophthalmic examinations. The HIV viral loads and the CD4+ T-cell counts were also determined.RESULTS: The best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA) of 38 eyes(19 patients) was improved, and cytomegalovirus retinitis(CMVR) in 5 eyes(3 patients) regressed after HAART. Furthermore, 16 patients treated with effective HAART had decreased plasma HIV viral loads(<78 copies/mL)and increased CD4+ T-cell counts(343±161 cells/μL, P<0.005), but the HIV viral load in tears was still detected at 2404 copies/mL. The CD4+ T-cell count was lower in the CMVR group than in the non-CMVR group(P=0.022), but the HIV viral load in the tears was not significantly different between the two groups(P=0.439).CONCLUSION: Most patients with AIDS show a good viral response with a decreased HIV viral load and an increased CD4+ T-cell count in plasma after HAART. However, the HIV viral load remain quite high in the tear samples. 9Label-free visualization of lignin deposition in loquats using complementary stimulated and spontaneous Raman microscopy显示文摘The lignification triggered by biotic or abiotic stresses hardens fruits and vegetables and eventually influences their consumer appeal.Extensive prior efforts have been made to unveil the underlying mechanism of flesh lignification,primarily focused on its physicochemical and molecular biological properties.Nevertheless,most of these studies used destroyed and homogenized bulk tissues as analytes;as a result,potentially valuable spatial information was lost.In this study,the deposition of lignin in loquat flesh during lignification was visualized from the tissue level to the singlecell level by combining the advantages of stimulated Raman scattering(SRS)and spontaneous Raman microscopy using label-free in situ molecular imaging.SRS has the advantages of being fast and providing large-area chemical imaging to reveal the spatial heterogeneity of lignin and cell wall polysaccharide distribution in loquat flesh.After 2 days of storage at 0℃,increased lignins were observed by large-area SRS imaging.In addition,microscopic SRS images of the flesh cells indicated that the increased lignins were trapped in the cell corner(CC)and middle lamella(ML).Furthermore,the compositional and structural features of lignified cells(LCs),CC and ML of loquat flesh were investigated by spontaneous Raman microscopy,and the results showed that the LCs were a combination of lignin,cellulose,and hemicellulose,whereas CC and ML showed only deposited lignin and pectin without cross-linked cellulose and hemicellulose.This result further suggests that the lignins in the CC and ML regions of loquats were later synthesized alone during postharvest storage.This innovative combination of SRS and spontaneous Raman microscopy allows the label-free macroscale and fine chemical imaging of plant cell walls and will enhance our fundamental understanding of the structures and functions of the plant cell wall.Nan Zhu Yifan Yang Minbiao Ji Di Wu Kunsong Chen 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:3
10Shenfuqiangxin Capsule inhibits apoptosis through mitogen-activated protein kinase signal pathway in rats with cardio-renal syndrome induced by infrarenal aortic-clamping显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of Shenfuqiangxin capsule and the underlying mechanism on cardio-renal syndrome(CRS) in rats induced by infrarenal aortic-clamping after renal ischaemia.METHODS: Male Wistar rats underwent infrarenal aortic-clamping after renal ischaemia or sham operation. The surviving CRS rats were divided randomly into three groups: CRS group(CRS + 10 m L·kg-1·d-1pure water by gavage), SFQX group(CRS + 13.2 g crude drug·kg- 1·d- 1Shenfuqiangxin by gavage),and handleregionpeptide(HRP)group(CRS+10mg/kg HRP by vein). Sham operation rats were given10 m L·kg-1·d-1pure water. Treatments were given8 weeks after surgery, which lasted for 4 weeks. Therats were detected for heart structure and function by transthoracic echocardiography. PPR m RNA was detected by Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction(RT-PCR). To determine whether the mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) signal pathway is included in the heart and kidney protective function of Shenfuqiangxin capsule, MAPK related proteins such as posophorylated C-Jun amino terminal kinase(p-JNK), posophorylated extracellular signal-regulated kinase ?(p-ERK1/2), posophorylated p38(p-p38) were examined by Western Blot.Apoptosis in heart and kidney tissues were detected by d UTP Nick End Labeling staining.RESULTS: Shenfuqiangxin capsule alleviated myocardial apoptosis and inhibited PRR m RNA expression and p-JNK, p-ERK1/2, p-p38 proteins expression in CRS rats.CONCLUSION: All the results suggest that Shenfuqiangxin capsule improves the injured heart and kidney function maybe through inhibition of MAPK response pathway.Wang Lei Wang Zi Yuan Ling Hao Di LüNan Li Xu 2017Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2017,37,1:3

12Ultrathin hexagonal boron nitride as a van der Waals,force initiator activated graphene for engineering efficient non-metal electrocatalysts of Li-CO_(2) battery显示文摘Reasonably regulating electronic coupling to promote charge transfer and exciton separation has been regarded a promising approach in catalysis.The material engineering of van der Waals heterojunction(vdWsH)based on two-dimensional(2D)materials would be a potential way to optimize the as-prepared extrinsic physicochemical characteristics.However,it was still an almost uncultivated land waiting for exploration in catalysis.Herein,we introduced the inert h-boron nitride(h-BN)in non-metal reduced graphene oxide(GN)catalysts and constructed BN-GN vdWsH.The theoretical calculation demonstrated that the h-BN can effectively modify the electronic properties of graphene.With the introduction of h-BN,the BN-GN vdWsH can obviously enhance the catalytic activity of Li-CO_(2) battery.The existence of BN-GN vdWsH can reduce the overpotential more than 700 mV compared with reduced graphene oxide during the CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)and CO_(2) evolution reaction(CO_(2)ER),and it extended cyclic stability more than three times,which was one structure design made it work as a high efficient electrocatalyst,catalytic materials.Zemin Sun Di Wang Liu Lin Yuhui Liu Mengwei Yuan Caiyun Nan Huifeng Li Genban Sun Xiaojing Yang 2022Nano Research2022,15,2:3

14Ultra-low power dissipation of improved complementary pass-transistor adiabatic logic circuits based on FinFETs显示文摘With the technology scaling down,low power dissipation has become one of the research focuses in the field of integrated circuit design.Various types of adiabatic logics have been invented for low-power applications.However,the expanding leakage current degrades the performance of conventional adiabatic logics.In this article,a novel improved complementary pass-transistor adiabatic logic(ICPAL)based on fin-type fieldeffect transistor(FinFET)devices with ultra-low power dissipation has been presented.The proposed ICPAL takes full advantage of different FinFET operating modes,that is,shorted-gate mode,independent-gate mode,and low-power mode,to make a tremendous reduction in power dissipation.For explication and verification,the power dissipation of different ICPAL standard cells has been investigated and compared with other types of adiabatic circuits based on FinFETs.The results show that the ICPAL circuits have ultra-low power dissipation in a wide range of clock frequencies(30-800 MHz)under the condition of similar number of transistors,and the average reduction in power dissipation is about 23.1%,75.0%,and 50.0%relative to 2N-2N2P,improved passtransistor adiabatic logic,and complimentary pass-transistor adiabatic logic,respectively.Furthermore,ICPAL supports a better pre-evaluation of system power dissipation in VLSI design and has an intrinsic characteristic for the resistance to some types of side channel attacks.LIAO Kai CUI XiaoXin LIAO Nan MA KaiSheng WU Di WEI Wei LI Rui YU DunShan 2014Science China(Information Sciences)2014,57,4:2
156-Gingerol protects against cardiac remodeling by inhibiting the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway显示文摘6-Gingerol,a pungent ingredient of ginger,has been reported to possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities,but the effect of 6-gingerol on pressure overload-induced cardiac remodeling remains inconclusive.In this study,we investigated the effect of 6-gingerol on cardiac remodeling in in vivo and in vitro models,and to clarify the underlying mechanisms.C57BL/6 mice were subjected to transverse aortic constriction(TAC),and treated with 6-gingerol(20 mg/kg,ig)three times a week(1 week in advance and continued until the end of the experiment).Four weeks after TAC surgery,the mice were subjected to echocardiography,and then sacrificed to harvest the hearts for analysis.For in vitro study,neonatal rat cardiomyocytes and cardiac fibroblasts were used to validate the protective effects of 6-gingerol in response to phenylephrine(PE)and transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β)challenge.We showed that 6-gingerol administration protected against pressure overload-induced cardiac hypertrophy,fibrosis,inflammation,and dysfunction in TAC mice.In the in vitro study,we showed that treatment with 6-gingerol(20μM)blocked PE-induced-cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and TGF-β-induced cardiac fibroblast activation.Furthermore,6-gingerol treatment significantly decreased mitogen-activated protein kinase p38(p38)phosphorylation in response to pressure overload in vivo and extracellular stimuli in vitro,which was upregulated in the absence of 6-gingerol treatment.Moreover,transfection with mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 6 expressing adenoviruses(Ad-MKK6),which specifically activated p38,abolished the protective effects of 6-gingerol in both in vitro and in vivo models.In conclusion,6-gingerol improves cardiac function and alleviates cardiac remodeling induced by pressure overload in a p38-dependent manner.The present study demonstrates that 6-gingerol is a promising agent for the intervention of pathological cardiac remodeling.Shu-qing Ma Zhen Guo Fang-yuan Liu Shahzad-Gul Hasan Dan Yang Nan Tang Peng An Ming-yu Wang Hai-ming Wu Zheng Yang Di Fan Qi-zhu Tang 2021Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2021,42,10:2

18Comparison of transpiration between different aged black locust(Robinia pseudoacacia)trees on the semi-arid Loess Plateau,China显示文摘Black locust(Robinia pseudoacacia)is widely planted throughout the semi-arid Loess Plateau of China.The spatial distribution of this species at different ages is highly heterogeneous due to restoration and management practices.In this study,we aimed to compare the transpiration levels between different aged black locusts at the tree and stand scales,clarifying the physiological status of this species with different ages.Black locust trees with two representative age classes(12 and 28 years)were selected in the Yangjuangou catchment on the semi-arid Loess Plateau.Sap flux density(F_d)and environmental variables(solar radiation,air temperature,relative humidity and soil water content)were simultaneously monitored throughout the growing season of 2014.Tree transpiration(E_t)was the product of Fd and sapwood area(A_S),and stand transpiration(E_c)was calculated basing on the stand sap flux density(J_s)and stand total sapwood area(A_(ST)).Stomatal conductance(g_s)was measured in a controlled environment and hydraulic conductance was estimated using the relationship between transpiration rate and vapor pressure deficit(VPD).Our results showed that Et and Ec were higher in the 28-year-old stand than in the 12-year-old stand.The gs and hydraulic conductance of 28-year-old trees were also higher than those of 12-year-old trees,and the two parameters were thus the causes of variations in transpiration between different age classes.After rainfall,mean Fd increased by 9% in 28-year-old trees and by 5% in 12-year-old trees.This study thus suggests that stand age should be considered for estimating transpiration at the catchment and region scales in this area.These results provide ecophysiological evidences that the older black locust trees had more active physiological status than the younger ones in this area.These findings also provide basic information for the management of water resources and forests on the semi-arid Loess Plateau.JIAOLei LU Nan FU Bojie GAO Guangyao WANG Shuai JIN Tiantian ZHANG Liwei LIU Jianbo ZHANG Di 2016Journal of Arid Land2016,8,4:2
19Rapid and High-throughput Identification of Recombinant Bacteria with Mass Spectrometry Assay显示文摘Objective To construct a rapid and high-throughput assay for identifying recombinant bacteria based on mass spectrometry.Methods Matrix assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry(MALDI-TOF MS) techniques were used to identify 12 recombinant proteins(10 of Yersinia pestis,1 of Campylobacter jejuni and 1 of Helicobacter pylori).A classification model for the various phase of recombinant bacteria was established,optimized and validated,using MALDI-TOF MS-ClinProTools system.The differences in the peptide mass spectra were analyzed by using Biotyper and FlexAnalysis softwares.Results Models of GA,SNN,and QC were established.After optimizing the parameters,the GA recognition model showed good classification capabilities:RC=100%,mean CVA=98.7%(the CVA was96.4%in phase 1,100%in phase 2,98.4%in phase 3,and 100%in phase 4,respectively) and PPV=95%.This model can be used to classify the bacteria and their recombinant,which only requires 3.7xl03 cells for analysis.The total time needed is only 10 min from protein extraction to reporting the result for one sample.Furthermore,this assay can automatically detect and test 96 samples concurrently.A total of 48specific peaks(9,16,9,and 14 for the four stages,respectively) was found in the various phase of recombinant bacteria.Conclusion MALDI-TOF MS can be used as a fast,accurate,and high-throughput method to identify recombinant bacteria,which provide a new ideas not only for recombinant bacteria but also for the identification of mutant strains and bioterrorism pathogens.XIAO Di TAO Xiao Xia WANG Peng LIU Guo Dong GONG Ya Nan ZHANG Hui Fang WANG Hai Bin ZHANG Jian Zhong 2014Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2014,27,4:2
20Dynamic changes of telomeric restriction fragment (TRF) lengths in cells during the developmental process from embryos to seedlings and a comparison with the embryonal calli in Ginkgo biloba L.显示文摘Telomeres are the structures that locate at the terminals of linear eukaryotic chromosomes. They can play essential roles in many cellular processes. The terminal location of Arabidopsis-type TTTAGGG tandem repeats were thought to be highly conserved. The terminal location of Ginkgo biloba L. consisting of TTTAGGG tandem repeats, were confirmed by Bal31 exonuclease degradation and Southern blotting. By comparing telomeric restriction fragment (TRF) lengths at different developmental stages from embryos to seedlings, a fluctuant tendency towards variation was found in these samples. The TRF length of embryos was also compared with that of embryonal calli and an upward trend was discovered in callus culture.
