1Lichong decoction reduces Matrix Metalloproteinases-2 expression but increases Tissue Inhibitors of Matrix Metalloproteinases-2 ex-pression in a rat model of uterine leiomyoma显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To study the effect of Lichong decoction(LD) on expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2) and metalloproteinase-2(TIMP-2) in a rat model of uterine leiomyoma(UL).METHODS:UL was induced in rats using exogenous estrogen and progesterone.LD was administered(p.o.) for 4 weeks,and mifepristone(RU-486)used as a control.To observe the effect of LD on the uterine coefficient and uterine transverse diameter,a radioimmunoassay method was used to detect serum levels of sex hormones.Light microscopic analyses of pathologic changes in the tissues of UL rats were evaluated.Expression of the proteins of matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs) and tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases(TIMPs) in uterine tissues was assessed by immunohistochemical staining and western blotting.RESULTS:A UL model in rats was established successfully.LD reduced uterine weight,uterine coefficient,and uterine transverse diameter compared with untreated controls.LD reduced levels of estradiol,progesterone,follicle-stimulating hormone,and luteinizing hormone in our UL models.LD improved the pathologic condition of uterine muscle.Expression of MMP-2 protein decreased to varying extents in LD-treated groups,but TIMP-2 levels were enhanced.LD appears to reduce MMP-2 expression and increase TIMP-2 expression in UL tissue.CONCLUSION:These data suggest that the mechanism of action of LD on ULs may involve reduction of MMP-2 expression and increase in TIMP-2 expression in rats.Wang Yasong Li Donghua Xu Xin Qian Ruiya Zhang Yalan Huang Yuhua Geng Jianguo Zou Xiaoli Han Hon-gjuan Zhang Wufang 2016Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016,36,4:12
2Development and validation of an endoscopic images-based deep learning model for detection with nasopharyngeal malignancies显示文摘Background:Due to the occult anatomic location of the nasopharynx and frequent presence of adenoid hyperpla-sia,the positive rate for malignancy identification during biopsy is low,thus leading to delayed or missed diagnosis for nasopharyngeal malignancies upon initial attempt.Here,we aimed to develop an artificial intelligence tool to detect nasopharyngeal malignancies under endoscopic examination based on deep learning.Methods:An endoscopic images-based nasopharyngeal malignancy detection model(eNPM-DM)consisting of a fully convolutional network based on the inception architecture was developed and fine-tuned using separate training and validation sets for both classification and segmentation.Briefly,a total of 28,966 qualified images were collected.Among these images,27,536 biopsy-proven images from 7951 individuals obtained from January 1st,2008,to December 31st,2016,were split into the training,validation and test sets at a ratio of 7:1:2 using simple randomiza-tion.Additionally,1430 images obtained from January 1st,2017,to March 31st,2017,were used as a prospective test set to compare the performance of the established model against oncologist evaluation.The dice similarity coef-ficient(DSC)was used to evaluate the efficiency of eNPM-DM in automatic segmentation of malignant area from the background of nasopharyngeal endoscopic images,by comparing automatic segmentation with manual segmenta-tion performed by the experts.Results:All images were histopathologically confirmed,and included 5713(19.7%)normal control,19,107(66.0%)nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC),335(1.2%)NPC and 3811(13.2%)benign diseases.The eNPM-DM attained an overall accuracy of 88.7%(95%confidence interval(CI)87.8%-89.5%)in detecting malignancies in the test set.In the prospective comparison phase,eNPM-DM outperformed the experts:the overall accuracy was 88.0%(95%CI 86.1%-89.6%)vs.80.5%(95%CI 77.0%-84.0%).The eNPM-DM required less time(40 s vs.110.0±5.8 min)and exhibited encouraging performance in automatic segmentation of nasopharyngeal malignant area from the background,with an average DSC of 0.78±0.24 and 0.75±0.26 in the test and prospective test sets,respectively.Conclusions:The eNPM-DM outperformed oncologist evaluation in diagnostic classification of nasopharyngeal mass into benign versus malignant,and realized automatic segmentation of malignant area from the background of nasopharyngeal endoscopic images.Chaofeng Li Bingzhong Jing Liangru Ke Bin Li Weixiong Xia Caisheng He Chaonan Qian Chong Zhao Haiqiang Mai Mingyuan Chen Kajia Cao Haoyuan Mo Ling Guo Qiuyan Chen Linquan Tang Wenze Qiu Yahui Yu Hu Liang Xinjun Huang Guoying Liu Wangzhong Li Lin Wang Rui Sun Xiong Zou Shanshan Guo Peiyu Huang Donghua Luo Fang Qiu Yishan Wu Yijun Hua Kuiyuan Liu Shuhui Lv Jingjing Miao Yanqun Xiang Ying Sun Xiang Guo Xing Lv 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:9
3The epigallocatechin gallate derivative Y_6 reverses drug resistance mediated by the ABCB1 transporter both in vitro and in vivo显示文摘Previously, we reported that Y_6, a new epigallocatechin gallate derivative, is efficacious in reversing doxorubicin(DOX)–mediated resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma BEL-7404/DOX cells. In this study, we evaluated the efficacy of Y_6 in reversing drug resistance both in vitro and in vivo by determining its effect on the adenosine triphosphate-binding cassette protein B1 transporter(ABCB1 or P-glycoprotein, P-gp). Our results showed that Y_6 significantly sensitized cells overexpressing the ABCB1 transporter to anticancer drugs that are ABCB1 substrates. Y_6 significantly stimulated the adenosine triphosphatase activity of ABCB1. Furthermore, Y_6 exhibited a higher docking score as compared with epigallocatechin gallate inside the transmembrane domain of ABCB1. In addition, in the nude mousetumor xenograft model, Y_6(110 mg/kg, intragastric administration), in combination with doxorubicin(2 mg/kg, intraperitoneal injection), significantly inhibited the growth of BEL-7404/DOX cell xenograft tumors, compared to equivalent epigallocatechin gallate. 5Overview of SMP-CAIL2020-Argmine:The Interactive Argument-Pair Extraction in Judgement Document Challenge显示文摘In this paper we present the results of the Interactive Argument-Pair Extraction in Judgement Document Challenge held by both the Chinese AI and Law Challenge(CAIL)and the Chinese National Social Media Processing Conference(SMP),and introduce the related data set-SMP-CAIL2020-Argmine.The task challenged participants to choose the correct argument among five candidates proposed by the defense to refute or acknowledge the given argument made by the plaintiff,providing the full context recorded in the judgement documents of both parties.We received entries from 63 competing teams,38 of which scored higher than the provided baseline model(BERT)in the first phase and entered the second phase.The best performing system in the two phases achieved accuracy of 0.856 and 0.905,respectively.In this paper,we will present the results of the competition and a summary of the systems,highlighting commonalities and innovations among participating systems.The SMP-CAIL2020-Argmine data set and baseline modelshave been already released.Jian Yuan Zhongyu Wei Yixu Gao Wei Chen Yun Song Donghua Zhao Jinglei Ma Zhen Hu Shaokun Zou Donghai Li Xuanjing Huang 2021Data Intelligence2021,3,2:3
6Ultralong cycle life enabled by in situ growth of CoMo_(1-x)P/Mo heterostructure for lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘Lithium-sulfur batteries(Li-S batteries) are considered as promising new-generation electrochemical energy storage devices due to their extremely high theoretical energy density(2600 Wh kg-1) and theoretical specific capacity(1675 m Ah g^(-1)). However, numerous problems such as poor conductivity and the shuttle effect during discharge-charge process limit the practical application of lithium-sulfur batteries. In this work, porous tubular Co Mo_(1-x)P/Mo constructed by in situ growth of metal Mo was designed as the sulfur host for lithium-sulfur batteries. The introduction of Mo modulated the electronic structure of Co Mo P to improve the conductivity of cathode and facilitate the redox kinetics, as well as the Co Mo_(1-x)P/Mo heterostructure was beneficial to inhibit the shuttle effect through the interaction with lithium polysulfides, which improved cycling stability. As a result, Co Mo_(1-x)P/Mo/S cathode had a low-capacity decay rate of only 0.029% per cycle after 2000 cycles at 0.5 C. 7Effects of simvastatin on early oxidative stress and endothelial function in apolipoprotein E-deficient mice显示文摘Objective:To investigate the mechanisms that Simvastatin,a 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A(HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitor,plays an important role in primary prevention of atherosclerosis independently of its lipid-lowering effect in Apolipoprotein E-deficient mice in the early stage of atherosclerosis.Methods:Twenty-four 6-week old male apoE-deficient mice were randomly divided into two groups:control group(normal saline) and treatment group[simvastatin(5 mg/(kg·d))].Simvastatin was administered to treatment group mice by gavage and the same volume of normal saline was administered to control group mice by the same method for 2 or 4 weeks.Total cholesterol(TC),super-oxide dismutase(SOD),malondialdehyde(MDA) and serum nitric oxide(NO) were measured by bio-chemical analysis.Results:There was no significant difference in serum TC between control and treatment groups.Compared with the control's,the effects of simvastatin were more significant in decreasing serum MDA level(P < 0.01 vs control's at 2-week;P < 0.006 vs control's at 4-week),increasing serum SOD level(P < 0.03 vs control's at 2-week;P < 0.003 vs control's at 4-week) and NO level(P < 0.01 control's at 2-week;P < 0.001 vs control's at 4-week) either at 2 or 4 weeks.Conclusion:Simvastatin attenuates oxidative stress and protects endothelial function by the mechanisms of decreasing serum MDA level,increasing serum SOD level and NO level ,which were inconsistent with its cholesterol-lowering effect.It may play an important role in primary(if not all) prevention of atherosclerosis and might be independent of lipid-regulation mechanism.Donghua Yin Meng Liu Guoping Yang Jun Huang Ming Gui 2007Journal of Nanjing Medical University2007,21,6:2
8Thermal behaviors and growth of reduced ferronickel particles in carbon-laterite composites显示文摘The thermal behaviors of single laterite ore and graphite-laterite mixtures were investigated by thermogravimetry (TG), derivative thermo-gravimetry (DTG), and differential thermal analysis (DTA). Four mass loss steps maximized at about 78, 272, 583, and 826°C are observed for the laterite ore, representing the vaporization of free water, the dehydroxylation of goethite, the decomposition of serpentines, and the second dehydroxylation of serpentines, respectively. The reduction reactions of the graphite-laterite mixtures start at around 700°C and can be divided into three major temperature regions. Coal-laterite composites with an addition of 10 wt.% CaO were roasted at 1100-1350°C for 30 min, and the reduced samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results indi-cate that the reduction reactions proceed more completely at higher temperatures. The growth of the reduced ferronickel particles is greatly influenced by the roasting temperature. Obvious growth of the reduced ferronickel particles appears with the formation of worm-like crystals for the sample reduced at 1250°C, and spheric particles are observed for the sample reduced at 1300°C. When the reduction temperature in-creases to 1350°C, the reduced ferronickel particles agglomerate to ferronickel granules of 3-8 mm in diameter. 9Diagnosis of coronary artery disease using targeted post-mortem computed tomography coronary angiography:a case report显示文摘Targeted post-mortem computed tomography(PMCT)combined with coronary angiography has the potential to play a significant role in the investigation of sudden cardiac death.The authors utilized a targeted PMCT coronary angiography in a case involving a 53-year-old man who died from acute myocardial ischemia and cardiac decompensation which may result from coronary artery disease(CAD).The victim collapsed suddenly at work and died soon after arrival to hospital.The body was examined using PMCT and targeted PMCT coronary angiography.The left anterior descending coronary artery exhibited 75%-100%stenosis in the middle segment;however,the distal segment could not be clearly visualized.In addition,the left circumflex and right coronary artery exhibited calcification,atherosclerosis and an area of 50% stenosis.Signs of cardiogenic pulmonary oedema were also identified.The imaging results suggested that this individual had coronary atherosclerosis and probably died from CAD.The autopsy and histological examination revealed acute myocardial ischemia and myocardial scarring,confirming the cause of death while excluding other probabilities.In summary,targeted post-mortem computed tomography angiography(PMCTA)can visualize the arteries and estimate the degree of principal pathological changes.This method is a simple,reliable and sensitive technique for identifying the presence of coronary atherosclerosis.It is a valuable post-mortem forensic imaging method and should be recommended in the investigation of suspicious cardiac deaths.Lei Wan Yu Shao Donghua Zou Ping Huang Zhengdong Li Maowen Wang Yijiu Chen 2017Forensic Sciences Research2017,2,2:2

11Equity of Accessibility to Health Care Services and Identification of Underserved Areas显示文摘Characterizing the availability of opportunities to residents has been a long-term aim in health care geographic investigation.It is important to measure the degree of inequity in health care accessibility and to identify underserved areas, due to the uneven distribution of health care services. In this study, JavaScript was used to calculate travel time based on Amap, as this can provide a more reliable data support to measure the health care accessibility in Xi’an communities, China. Based on the overall equity, herein, an attempt was made to quantify the equity of health care accessibility, and to identify health care underserved areas inside the different communities. Results show that the accessibility to low-level health care services is high in the northern areas and low in the southern areas, while the accessibility to high-level and comprehensive health care services shows a clear core-periphery spatial structure. Moreover, the overall equity of the health care accessibility is relatively low, and the inequity of high-level health care accessibility is further aggravated.Furthermore, the quantified equity of accessibility to high-level and comprehensive health care services in the central urban areas is better;however low-level health care services are relatively inadequate. There are significant differences among health care underserved areas, in particular, for the worst equity and the lowest accessibility areas(A1) and the worse equity and the lowest accessibility areas(B1) in high-level underserved areas. 16Decellularized Disc Hydrogels for hBMSCs tissue-specific differentiation and tissue regeneration显示文摘Tissue specificity,a key factor in the decellularized tissue matrix(DTM),has shown bioactive functionalities in tuning cell fate-e.g.,the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells.Notably,cell fate is also determined by the living microenvironment,including material composition and spatial characteristics.Herein,two neighboring tissues within intervertebral discs,the nucleus pulposus(NP)and annulus fibrosus(AF),were carefully processed into DTM hydrogels(abbreviated DNP-G and DAF-G,respectively)to determine the tissue-specific effects on stem cell fate,such as specific components and different culturing methods,as well as in vivo regeneration.Distinct differences in their protein compositions were identified by proteomic analysis.Interestingly,the fate of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(hBMSCs)also responds to both culturing methods and composition.Generally,hBMSCs cultured with DNP-G(3D)differentiated into NP-like cells,while hBMSCs cultured with DAF-G(2D)underwent AF-like differentiation,indicating a close correlation with the native microenvironments of NP and AF cells,respectively.Furthermore,we found that the integrin-mediated RhoA/LATS/YAP1 signaling pathway was activated in DAF-G(2D)-induced AF-specific differentiation.Additionally,the activation of YAP1 determined the tendency of NP-or AF-specific differentiation and played opposite regulatory effects.Finally,DNP-G and DAF-G specifically promoted tissue regeneration in NP degeneration and AF defect rat models,respectively.In conclusion,DNP-G and DAF-G can specifically determine the fate of stem cells through the integrin-mediated RhoA/LATS/YAP1 signaling pathway,and this tissue specificity is both compositional and spatial,supporting the utilization of tissue-specific DTM in advanced treatments of intervertebral disc degeneration.Yizhong Peng Xiangcheng Qing Hui Lin Donghua Huang Jinye Li Shuo Tian Sheng Liu Xiao Lv Kaige Ma Rui Li Zilong Rao Ying Bai Songfeng Chen Ming Lei Daping Quan Zengwu Shao 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,10:1
