1Study of altitudinal lapse rates of δ^(18)O in precipitation/river water with seasons on the southeast Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Seasonal δ 18O variation in water on the southeast Tibetan Plateau has been studied, showing the consistent variation pattern of δ 18O with altitude indicative of relevant atmospheric circulation processes. Study shows a similar variation pattern of fixed-site river water δ 18O with that of the precipitation δ 18O in southeast Tibet. δ 18O in regional rivers in southeast Tibet demonstrates a gradual depletion with increasing altitude, though the rates vary seasonally. The most depleted river 18O occurs during the monsoon period, with the lowest δ 18O/altitude lapse rate. The river 18O during the westerly period is also depleted, together with low δ 18O/altitude lapse rate. The pre-monsoon rivers witness the most enriched 18O with least significant correlation coefficient with the linear regression, whilst the postmonsoon rivers witness the largest δ 18O/altitude lapse rate. Different coherence of seasonal δ 18O variation with the altitude effect is attributed to different moisture supplies. Though sampling numbers vary with seasons, the δ 18O-H linear correlation coefficients all reach the 0.05 confidence level, thus witnessing the variation features of δ 18O in seasonal river water due to the influence of atmospheric general circulation and land surface processes revealed from the altitudinal lapse rates.YANG XiaoXin XU BaiQing YANG Wei QU DongMei LIN Ping-Nan 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,16:13
2Comparative Transcriptome Analysis of Actinidia arguta Fruits Reveals the Involvement of Various Transcription Factors in Ripening显示文摘The fruit of Actinidia arguta is typically climacteric.During ripening,the fruits produce a large amount of ethylene.Although the molecular basis of climacteric fruit ripening has been extensively studied,some aspects such as its transcriptional regulation remain unclear.Here,we compared the transcriptomes of A.arguta fruits collected at commercial harvest(sample d0)and at 6 days after harvest(sample d6)using RNA-seq.A total of 3 659 differentially expressed genes(DEGs)between samples d0 and d6 were detected,of which 2 983 and 1 104 could be functionally annotated with Gene Ontology(GO)and Clusters of Orthologous Groups(COG)pathways.DEGs involved in ethylene biosynthesis and signal transduction were identified,including ACO(c79627),ERF061(c105131),and ERF6(c99193).Transcription factors such as ERF,b HLH,NAC,MADS,and MYB were also differentially expressed between samples d0 and d6.Selected DEGs were subjected to further analysis using quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(q RT-PCR),and the results coincided with those of RNA-seq.Our data revealed additional transcription factors that are involved in the regulation of fruit ripening.These results provide useful information for future research on the transcriptional regulation of fruit ripening.HUANG Guohui QU Yi LI Tong YUAN Hui WANG Aide TAN Dongmei 2018Horticultural Plant Journal2018,4,1:9
3Effectiveness of flesh-moistening paste in psoriasis vulgaris patients with symptom pattern of blood stasis:a randomized and parallel-controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of flesh-moistening paste for treating psoriasis vulgaris in patients with blood stasis pattern in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).METHODS:Eudipleural rashes on both the left and right side of the same patients with psoriasis vulgaris,diagnosed via TCM as blood stasis pattern,were selected as the targeted skin lesions.A randomized,double-blind,parallel-controlled,multicenter controlled trial was conducted.The targeted skin lesions were categorized into either the treatment or control group.The treatment group used the flesh-moistening paste;the control group used a placebo.Both the paste and the placebo were topically applied twice daily for eight weeks.The patients were examined biweekly to evaluate the effects.The two groups were compared in terms of the psoriasis area and severity index(PASI)of the targeted skin lesions,which is scored according to erythema,desquamation,infiltration,area,pruritus,and improvement of skin barrier function.Adverse events were recorded during the study period.SPSS 21.0 was used to analyze the data.RESULTS:Fifty-six patients were enrolled between February 2016 and October 2017.Two were complicated by cardio-cerebrovascular disease and were excluded;thus,54 outpatients were finally enrolled in the study.Four dropped out during the study period:three failed to complete their follow-up visits for unknown reasons,and one exited due to an adverse event.The final trial comprised 50 of the 56 originally selected patients,with a 92.6%completion rate.After 8 weeks of treatment,the targeted skin lesion scores differed significantly(P<0.05).The PASI scores of the targeted skin lesions differed significantly beginning at week 6(P<0.05).The treatment group presented better results than those of the control group.Only one patient had an adverse reaction associated with the treatment.Improvements in skin barrier function differed significantly(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:The flesh-moistening paste demonstrated a reliable curative effect and safety for treating psoriasis vulgaris in patients with blood stasis patterns.The topical paste improved the barrier function of the skin lesions.Guo Xinwei Lang Na Li Guanru Li Ping Qu Jianhua Zhou Dongmei Wang Ping Cang Zhang Deng BingXu Lou Weihai Xu Jingna Lan Haibing Liu Yumin Zhang Weishu Sun Liyun 2020Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,6:4
4A male-ABCD algorithm for hepatocellular carcinoma risk prediction in HBs Ag carriers显示文摘Objective: Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) development among hepatitis B surface antigen(HBs Ag) carriers shows gender disparity, influenced by underlying liver diseases that display variations in laboratory tests. We aimed to construct a risk-stratified HCC prediction model for HBs Ag-positive male adults.Methods: HBs Ag-positive males of 35-69 years old(N=6,153) were included from a multi-center populationbased liver cancer screening study. Randomly, three centers were set as training, the other three centers as validation. Within 2 years since initiation, we administrated at least two rounds of HCC screening using Bultrasonography and α-fetoprotein(AFP). We used logistic regression models to determine potential risk factors,built and examined the operating characteristics of a point-based algorithm for HCC risk prediction.Results: With 2 years of follow-up, 302 HCC cases were diagnosed. A male-ABCD algorithm was constructed including participant's age, blood levels of GGT(γ-glutamyl-transpeptidase), counts of platelets, white cells,concentration of DCP(des-γ-carboxy-prothrombin) and AFP, with scores ranging from 0 to 18.3. The area under receiver operating characteristic was 0.91(0.90-0.93), larger than existing models. At 1.5 points of risk score,26.10% of the participants in training cohort and 14.94% in validation cohort were recognized at low risk, with sensitivity of identifying HCC remained 100%. At 2.5 points, 46.51% of the participants in training cohort and 33.68% in validation cohort were recognized at low risk with 99.06% and 97.78% of sensitivity, respectively. 5The Indian monsoonal influence on altitude effect of δ^(18)O in surface water on southeast Tibetan Plateau显示文摘The altitude effect of δ18O is essential for the study of the paleo-elevation reconstruction and possible to be solved through modern process studies. This study presents new δ18O reults from southeast Tibetan Plateau along two transects, the Zayu transect and the Lhasa-Nyang transect, with δ18O data from June to September representative of monsoon period and δ18O data during the rest of the year of non-monsoon period. Altitude effect outweighs the longitude and latitude effects in determining regional δ18O variation spatially. Relevant δ18O data from previous studies in the nearby region have also been combined to comprehensively understand the influence of different moisture sources on δ18O from local scale to regional scale. The δ18O in surface water in the southeast Tibetan Plateau and its nearby regions influenced by the Indian summer monsoon shows that single dominant moisture source or simple moisture sources lead to smaller altitudinal lapse rate, whilst growing contributions from local convection to precipitation enlarge δ18O-altitude rate. It thereupon reveals the significance of the Indian summer monsoon to the altitude effect of δ18O in surface water, and the complicated effect of local convection or westerlies evolution to the variation of altitudinal lapse rate. 6Effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine plus narrow-band medium-wave ultraviolet B radiation on moderate-to-severe psoriasis vulgaris in a case series显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy and safety of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapy combined with ultraviolet B light therapy in the treatment of moderate-to-severe psoriasis. METHODS: Patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis (skin lesion area > 10% of the body surface area) for 2 consecutive years were treated with TCM (oral and external use of herbal medicines, acupuncture, and herbal bathing) and narrow-band medium-wave ultraviolet B light treatment for 12 weeks. The treatment effect was evaluated based on the Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI), the achievement of a 50% reduction in the PASI (PASI50), the achievement of a 75% reduction in the PASI (PASI75), pruritus score, Dermatology Life Quality Index, and safety. RESULTS: A total of 95 outpatients were enrolled, and 92 subjects (96.8%) completed the 12-week treatment course. At baseline, the average proportion of the body surface area covered by skin lesions was 12.4%, and the average PASI was 17.7. All patients had previously been treated with conventional medicine (89.1% of patients received ultraviolet light treatment, 50.0% received glucocorticoids, and 21.7% received acitretin). After the 12-week treatment course, 22 patients (23.9%) achieved PASI75, and 43 (46.7%) achieved PASI50. The post-treatment pruritus score and Dermatology Life Quality Index of all treated patients were significantly lower than the respective baseline values (P < 0.0001). 13Research Advances of Exotoxin Gene and Related Vaccines of Clostridium perfringens显示文摘Clostridium perfringens,also called clostridium westergren,mainly causes diseases in ruminants,such as gas gangrene,enterotoxaemia,hemorrhagic enteritis of cattle and sheep. The bacteria are divided into five subtypes including A,B,C,D and E subtype,which can secrete more than 10 kinds of exotoxin,such as α,β,ε,ι,γ,η,θ,κ,λ,μ,ν and so on. In these toxins,α,β,ε and ι play a key pathogenic role. At present,the disease is prevented mainly by univalent vaccine,combined vaccine and multivalent inactivated vaccine. And the genetic engineering subunit vaccine and nucleic acid vaccine has wide development prospects. 15More common RNAemia in the early stage of severe SARS-CoV-2 BF.7.14 infections in pediatric patients显示文摘The risk factors of severe infections in children during the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS‐CoV‐2)outbreak in Beijing remain elusive.SARS‐CoV‐2‐positive children admitted to the intensive care unit(ICU)with collected plasma specimens were enrolled and screened for common pathogens using capillary electrophoresis‐based multiplex PCR from December 12,2022,to January 24,2023.The SARS‐CoV‐2 subvariants were identified using next‐generation sequencing.Plasma was positive for two(positive;P),one(suspicious;S),or no(negative;N)SARS‐CoV‐2 genes were classified as plasmatic RNA‐positive(RNAemia;P+S)or without RNAemia(N).Clinical and laboratory data of the enrolled cases were then collected and analyzed.The 34 enrolled children included 26 males and 24 younger than three years.All were negative for other respiratory pathogens.BF.7.14(18/29)was the predominant subvariant.Viral loads in respiratory specimens,hours from symptom onset to the first respiratory specimen collection(time‐variable),with comorbidities and BF.7.14 and BA.5.2 distributions were significantly different in P vs.N and RNAemia vs.without RNAemia group.Among most cases,the T lymphocyte ratios decreased,while the cytokine level and the B lymphocyte ratio increased.The time variables were 2.22±2.05 and 4.00±2.49 days in BF.7.14 and BA.5.2 infections,respectively.In conclusion,SARS‐CoV‐2 was more likely to cause severe infections among males aged≤3 years old with comorbidities during the SARS‐CoV‐2 outbreak in Beijing,while RNAemia is more common in children at the early stage of severe BF.7.14 infections,and most had high cytokine levels and B‐cell activation.Yu Sun Runan Zhu Yang Pan Ri De Shuang Liu Liping Jia Bing Lv Xiaoyun Li Dongmei Chen Yao Yao Dong Qu Daitao Zhang Linqing Zhao 2024Biosafety and Health2024,6,1:0
16Efficient and Soluble Expression of N Protein of Peste Des Petits Ruminants Virus and Development of Indirect ELISA显示文摘[Objective] The paper was to get effective soluble N protein to establish indirect ELISA method for Peste des petits ruminants( PPR). [Method]Soluble N protein with high expression was obtained from Escherichia coli expression system through codon optimization and optimization of expression conditions,and indirect ELISA detection method based on N protein was further established. [Result]The assay had no cross reaction with other sheep pathogens. The intraand inter-batch variation coefficients were less than 9%,indicating the method had good repeatability. Furthermore,totally 480 clinical serum samples were detected by the assay,and the agreement rate with commercial ELISA kit( IDVET) was 98. 33%. 17RoBGP:A Chinese Nested Biomedical Named Entity Recognition Model Based on RoBERTa and Global Pointer显示文摘Named Entity Recognition(NER)stands as a fundamental task within the field of biomedical text mining,aiming to extract specific types of entities such as genes,proteins,and diseases from complex biomedical texts and categorize them into predefined entity types.This process can provide basic support for the automatic construction of knowledge bases.In contrast to general texts,biomedical texts frequently contain numerous nested entities and local dependencies among these entities,presenting significant challenges to prevailing NER models.To address these issues,we propose a novel Chinese nested biomedical NER model based on RoBERTa and Global Pointer(RoBGP).Our model initially utilizes the RoBERTa-wwm-ext-large pretrained language model to dynamically generate word-level initial vectors.It then incorporates a Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory network for capturing bidirectional semantic information,effectively addressing the issue of long-distance dependencies.Furthermore,the Global Pointer model is employed to comprehensively recognize all nested entities in the text.We conduct extensive experiments on the Chinese medical dataset CMeEE and the results demonstrate the superior performance of RoBGP over several baseline models.This research confirms the effectiveness of RoBGP in Chinese biomedical NER,providing reliable technical support for biomedical information extraction and knowledge base construction.Xiaohui Cui Chao Song Dongmei Li Xiaolong Qu Jiao Long Yu Yang Hanchao Zhang 2024Computers, Materials & Continua2024,78,3:0
18Integrated benefits of power generation by straw biomass--A case study on the Sheyang Straw Power Plants in Jiangsu Province,China显示文摘Power generation using straw biomass has quantifiable benefits from an economic,ecological,and sociological perspective in China.The methods used to construct the assessment models of these integrated benefits were the revenue capitalization approach and the discounted-cash-flow approach.The results indicated that a straw power plant with the capacity of 2.50×10^(7)W and burning 1.23×10^(5)tons of cotton straw could annually supply 1.40×10^(8)kWh of power.However,it would not be until six years later that these results could be measured.Over the long term,the gross benefits could reach up to 4.63×10^(8)Yuan.Therefore,the total benefits are expected to be 1.18×10^(12)Yuan if all available straw resources are used to generate power.The policy implication showed that the long-term integrated benefits of power generation by straw biomass outweighed the short-term benefits.This is the main incentive to use straw biomass for power generation in the future.Xiaoshun LI Futian QU Dongmei JIANG Peixin ZHU 2009Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2009,3,3:0
19Efficient and Soluble Expression of α Protein of Clostridium perfringens and Preparation of Genetic Engineering Subunit Vaccine显示文摘[Objective] The paper was to develop genetic engineering vaccine that can express α exotoxin antigen protein efficiently without destroying its immunogenicity for preventing and controlling the diseases caused by Clostridium perfringens. [Method] Efficiently expressed soluble recombinant α protein was obtained from Escherichia coli expression system by optimizing codon,removing signal peptide,selecting sequences with better hydrophilicity and antigenicity,and optimizing expression conditions. [Result] Mice obtained higher serum antibody level when immunized by α protein,and the immune protection rates against type A,type B,type C and type D C. perfringens were 100%,90%,85% and 90%,respectively. The antibody titer of mice within 7-14 d after the third immunization reached the peak. 20Stable isotopic compositions of precipitation events from Kathmandu, southern slope of the Himalayas显示文摘Investigation of temporal variations in the stable d18 O and d D isotopes from Kathmandu's precipitation events shows that the relatively enriched d18 O and d D values in the winter(the dry season, dominated by the westerlies) were positively correlated with temperature,indicating a temperature effect controlling the changes of d18 O and d D. However, the d18 O and d D values were depleted in the summer(the wet season, dominated by the Indian monsoon), which were negatively correlated with precipitation amount, indicating an amount effect. In addition, the comparison of stable isotopes in precipitation from Kathmandu and Mawlong(near the Bay of Bengal)shows that the overall trends of d18 O and d D values at Kathmandu generally approximate those at Mawlong.However, there remain many differences between the details of the isotopic changes at Kathmandu versus those at Mawlong. Compared with those at Mawlong, the further rainout effect and the more intense lift effect of the oceanic moisture by the high mountains resulted in the moredepleted d18 O and d D values in summer precipitation at Kathmandu. A deuterium excess and the local meteoric water lines reveal that evaporation at Kathmandu exceeds that at Mawlong.
