Strategic Interaction in Spending on Environmental Protection:Spatial Evidence from Chinese Cities显示文摘In China, the responsibility of protecting the environment lies largely with local governments. Within the framework of spatial econometrics,we investigate empirically the consequence of such an institutional setting.Using city-level data for China, the present study finds that city governments behave strategically in making spending decisions regarding environmental protection. This paper finds that a city government appears to cut its own spending as a response to the rise in environmental protection spending by its neighbors.Hence, environmental protection tends to be underprovided. As a result,we suggest that centralizing the environmental protection responsibility to a higher level of government would be beneficial in terms of controlling pollution in China.Huihui Deng Xinye Zheng Nan Huang Fanghua Li 2012China & World Economy2012,20,5:33
Fuel optimal low thrust rendezvous with outer planets via gravity assist显示文摘Low thrust propulsion and gravity assist (GA) are among the most promising techniques for deep space explorations. In this paper the two techniques are combined and treated comprehensively, both on modeling and numerical techniques.Fuel optimal orbit rendezvous via multiple GA is first formulated as optimal guidance with multiple interior constraints and then the optimal necessary conditions, various transversality conditions and stationary conditions are derived by Pontryagin's Maximum Principle (PMP).Finally the initial orbit rendezvous problem is transformed into a multiple point boundary value problem (MPBVP).Homotopic technique combined with random searching globally and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO),is adopted to handle the numerical difficulty in solving the above MPBVP by single shooting method. Two scenarios in the end show the merits of the present approach.GUO TieDing JIANG FangHua BAOYIN HeXi LI JunFeng 2011Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2011,54,4:8
FGF1^(△HBS) prevents diabetic cardiomyopathy by maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis and reducing oxidative stress via AMPK/Nur77 suppression显示文摘As a classically known mitogen, fibroblast growth factor 1(FGF1)has been found to exert other pleiotropic functions such as metabolic regulation and myocardial protection. Here,we show that serum levels of FGF1 were decreased and positively correlated with fraction shortening in diabetic cardiomyopathy(DCM)patients, indicating that FGF1 is a potential therapeutic target for DCM.We found that treatment with a FGF1 variant(FGF1^(△HBS))with reduced proliferative potency prevented diabetes-induced cardiac injury and remodeling and restored cardiac function.RNA-Seq results obtained from the cardiac tissues of db/db mice showed significant increase in the expression levels of anti-oxidative genes and decrease of Nur77 by FGF1AHBS treatment. Both in vivo and in vitro studies indicate that FGF1^(△HBS) exerted these beneficial effects by markedly reducing mitochondrial fragmentation, reactive oxygen species(ROS)generation and cytochrome c leakage and enhancing mitochondrial respiration rate and β-oxidation in a 5;AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK)/Nur77-dependent manner, all of which were not observed in the AMPK null mice. The favorable metabolic activity and reduced proliferative properties of FGF1^(△HBS) testify to its promising potential for use in the treatment of DCM and other metabolic disorders.Dezhong Wang Yuan Yin Shuyi Wang Tianyang Zhao Fanghua Gong Yushuo Zhao Beibei Wang Yuli Huang Zizhao Cheng Guanghui Zhu Zengshou Wang Yang Wang Jun Ren Guang Liang Xiaokun Li Zhifeng Huang 2021Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,4:6
Growth factor regulatory system:a new system for not truly recognized organisms显示文摘Growth, development, aging, and disease occurrence in organisms, especially animals or Homo sapiens, are regulated by different regulatory systems in vivo. The nervous, endocrine, metabolic, and immune systems are the traditional biological systems essential for the growth, development, and metabolism of the body. These systems maintain a balance and precisely biologically regulate every aspect of life activities under normal circumstances. However,in abnormal situations, owing to endogenous or exogenous attack, these regulatory systems result in dysfunction, subsequently leading to illness or injury(Muggianu et al.,2018).In the classical neuroendocrine regulatory system,Cushing’s syndrome is defined as a series of abnormal clinical symptoms with chronic overproduction of glucocorticoids in the adrenal cortex. Its clinical manifestations are“moon face”and“buffalo hump,”involving blood circulation, bone metabolism, and gonadal function, among others. In addition, severe trauma or burn leads to an imbalanced immune regulatory system, resulting in excessive inflammatory reactions and sepsis. Thus,an independent or cooperative regulation of multiple regulatory systems is critical in maintaining the body’s homeostasis, healthy development, and growth.Jian Xiao Zhuofeng Lin Hua Qin Zhilong Zheng Fanghua Gong Yanlong Liu Xiaokun Li Xiaobing Fu 2020Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,3:5
China’s local governments are combating COVID-19 with unprecedented responses——from a Wenzhou governance perspective显示文摘The COVID-19 caused by a novel strain of coronavirus has been spreading rapidly since its occurrence in December 2019.It is highly communicable through human-to-human transmission.China has been making unprecedented efforts in treating the confirmed cases, identifying and isolating their close contacts and suspected cases to control the source of infection and cut the route of transmission.China’s devotion in handling this epidemic has effectively and efficiently curbed communication domestically and across the border.Representative measures adopted by Wenzhou, the worst hit city out of Hubei Province, are examined to elucidate those massive undertakings with the aim of enhancing international understanding and building global rapport in fighting this evolving epidemic situation.Fanghua Gong Yong Xiong Jian Xiao Li Lin Xiaodong Liu Dezhong Wang Xiaokun Li 2020Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,2:4
Qualitative and quantitative assessment of related substances in the Compound Ketoconazole and Clobetasol Propionate Cream by HPLC-TOF-MS and HPLC显示文摘Related substances in pharmaceutical formulations are associated with their safety, efficacy and stability. However, there is no overall study already published on the assessment of related substances in the Compound Ketoconazole and Clobetasol Propionate Cream. In this work, a reliable HPLC-TOF-MS qualitative method was developed for the analysis of related substances in this preparation with a quick and easy extraction procedure. Besides the active pharmaceutical ingredients, two compounds named ketoconazole impurity B′ optical isomer and ketoconazole impurity E were identified. Furthermore, a new HPLC method for qualitative and quantitative assessment on related substances and degradation products, which were found in the stability test, was established and validated. The single standard to determine multi-components method was applied in the quantitative analysis, which was an effective way for reducing cost and improving accuracy. This study can provide a creative idea for routine analysis of quality control of the Compound Ketoconazole and Clobetasol Propionate Cream.Wenling Yang Xiaomei Yang Fanghua Shi Zhigang Liao Yongkun Liang Liangzhong Yu Ruixun Wang Qing Li Kaishun Bi 2019Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2019,9,3:4
All boron-based 2D material as anode material in Li-ion batteries显示文摘To design the high-energy-density Li-ion batteries, the anode materials with high specific capacity have attracted much attention. In this work, we adopt the first principles calculations to investigate the possibility of a new two dimensional boron material, named BG, as anode material for Li-ion batteries. The calculated results show that the maximum theoretical specific capacity of B_G is 1653 m Ah g^(-1)(LiB1.5).Additionally, the energy barriers of Li ion and Li vacancy diffusion are 330 meV and 110 meV, respectively, which imply fast charge and discharge ability for BGas an anode material. The theoretical findings reported in this work suggest that BGis a potential candidate as anode material of high-energy-density Li-ion batteries.Ning Jiang Biao Li Fanghua Ning Dingguo Xia 2018Journal of Energy Chemistry2018,27,6:3
Antibody neutralization to SARS-CoV-2 and variants after 1 year in Wuhan,China显示文摘Most COVID-19 convalescents can build effective anti-SARS-CoV-2 humoral immunity, but it remains unclear how long it can maintain and how efficiently it can prevent the reinfection of the emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants. Here,we tested the sera from 248 COVID-19 convalescents around 1 year post-infection in Wuhan, the earliest known epicenter.SARS-CoV-2 immunoglobulin G(IgG)was well maintained in most patients and potently neutralizes the infection of the original strain and the B.1.1.7 variant. However, varying degrees of immune escape was observed on the other tested variants in a patient-specific manner, with individuals showing remarkably broad neutralization potency. The immune escape can be largely attributed to several critical spike mutations. These results suggest that SARS-CoV-2 can elicit long-lasting immunity but this is escaped by the emerging variants.Qianyun Liu Qing Xiong Fanghua Mei Chengbao Ma Zhen Zhang Bing Hu Junqiang Xu Yongzhong Jiang Faxian Zhan Suhua Zhou Li Tao Xianying Chen Ming Guo Xin Wang Yaohui Fang Shu Shen Yingle Liu Fang Liu Li Zhou Ke Xu Changwen Ke Fei Deng Kun Cai Huan Yan Yu Chen Ke Lan 2022The Innovation2022,3,1:3
Characteristics of particle size distributions for the collapsed riverbank along the desert reach of the upper Yellow River显示文摘As a result of the interaction between hydrodynamics and the effects of gravity, riverbank collapse is a common occurrence in the desert reach of the upper Yellow River(also called as Ningxia-Mongolia Inner reach),of which the riverbank may be divided into three types such as sandy riverbank in the widevalley desert reach,silt-deposition riverbank on the fluvial plain and silt-sandy riverbank. The characteristics of both typical riverbank collapse and the particle size distributions(PSDs) for collapsed riverbanks of sandy,silt-deposition,and silt-sandy types were determined from analysis of data obtained from the field observations. It was found that particles from the silt-deposition riverbank had the smallest median size and those from the sandy riverbank the largest, with those from the silt-sandy riverbank being intermediate in size. The PSDs of the sandy and silt-deposition riverbanks exhibited double-peaked and single-peaked structures, respectively, while those of the silt-sandy riverbank exhibited multiple peaks.Furthermore, the corresponding to three kinds of riverbank collapse mechanisms were revealed,These results are significant with regard both to the understanding of river dynamics and to the planning of river harnessing projects.Anping Shu Fanghua Li Haifei Liu Guosheng Duan Xing Zhou 2016International Journal of Sediment Research2016,31,4:3
Comparative transcriptomic insights into the mechanisms of electron transfer in Geobacter co-cultures with activated carbon and magnetite显示文摘Both activated carbon and magnetite have been reported to promote the syntrophic growth of Geobacter metallireducens and Geobacter sulfurreducens co-cultures, the first model to show direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET); however, differential transcriptomics of the promotion on co-cultures with these two conductive materials are unknown. Here, the comparative transcriptomic analysis of G. metallireducens and G. sulfurreducens co-cultures with granular activated carbon (GAC) and magnetite was reported. More than 2.6-fold reduced transcript abundances were determined for the uptake hydrogenase genes of G. sulfurreducens as well as other hydrogenases in those co-cultures to which conductive materials had been added. This is consistent with electron transfer in G. metallireducens-G. sulfurreducens co-cultures as evinced by direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET). Transcript abundance for the structural component of electrically conductive pili (e-pili), PilA, was 2.2-fold higher in G. metallireducens, and, in contrast, was 14.9-fold lower in G. sulfurreducens in co-cultures with GAC than in Geobacters co-cultures without GAC. However, it was 9.3-fold higher in G. sulfurreducens in co-cultures with magnetite than in Geobacters co-cultures. Mutation results showed that GAC can be substituted for the e-pili of both strains but magnetite can only compensate for that of G. sulfurreducens, indicating that the e-pili is a more important electron acceptor for the electron donor strain of G. metallireducens than for G. sulfurreducens. Transcript abundance for G. metallireducens c-type cytochrome gene GMET_RS14535, a homologue to c-type cytochrome gene omcE of G. sulfurreducens was 9.8-fold lower in co-cultures with GAC addition, while that for OmcS of G. sulfurreducens was 25.1-fold higher in co-cultures with magnetite, than in that without magnetite. Gene deletion studies showed that neither GAC nor magnetite can completely substitute the cytochrome (OmcE homologous) of G. metallireducens but compensate for the cytochrome (OmcS) of G. sulfurreducens. Moreover, some genes associated with central metabolism were up-regulated in the presence of both GAC and magnetite; however, tricarboxylic acid cycle gene transcripts in G. sulfurreducens were not highly-expressed in each of these amended co-cultures, suggesting that there was considerable redundancy in the pathways utilised by G. sulfurreducens for electron transfer to reduce fumarate with the amendment of GAC or magnetite. These results support the DIET model of G. metallireducens and G. sulfurreducens and suggest that e-pili and cytochromes of the electron donor strain are more important than that of the electron acceptor strain, indicating that comparative transcriptomics may be a promising route by which to reveal different responses of electron donor and acceptor during DIET in co-cultures.Shiling Zheng Fanghua Liu Meng Li Leilei Xiao Oumei Wang 2018Science China(Life Sciences)2018,61,7:2

Precambrian Captured Zircon Ages in the Daheigou Formation, Xing’an Block显示文摘The Xing'an Block (XB) is located between the Erguna Block (EB) and the Songnen Block (SB), which topographically occupies the northeastern half of the Great Xing'an Range (Liu et al., 2017). The XB was traditionally considered to be composed of a Precambrian metamorphic basement and post-Cambrian cover. However, the recent geochronological studies show that the so-called 'Precambrian metamorphic rocks^^ are much younger in age and considered to be formed in the Early Paleozoic, indicating no existence of the Precambrian metamorphic basement.SONG Wanbing CUI Fanghua YANG Hongzhi ZHANG Li WU Xinwei SHI Jianmin ZHANG Chao 2019Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2019,93,3:1
Dynamics of the SARS-CoV-2 antibody response up to 10 months after infection显示文摘COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection has caused substantial morbidity and mortality worldwide and paralyzed the international economy.Understanding the magnitude and duration of the antibody response to SARS-CoV-2 is important to achieve a balance between curbing the pandemic and minimizing adverse effects on society.1 Although the antibody response to SARS-CoV-2 within 9 months has been extensively studied,2,3,4,5,6 little is known about the magnitude and kinetics of antibody responses for over 9 months. Moreover, with limited observations over 9 months(n<100),2,7,8 several studies have produced inconsistent conclusions about antibody dynamics, suggesting different rates of antiviral antibody positivity at the last follow-up.2,7,8 These studies have been limited by a lack of measurement of neutralizing antibodies(NAbs),7 of inclusion of mild or asymptomatic cases,2,8 and of further exploration of potential predisposing factors for antibody dynamics.2,7 Considering the individual heterogeneity(such as disease severity)8 and time-dependent nature1 of the immune response,in-depth characterization of SARS-CoV-2 antibody kinetics across disease severity groups over a long period is urgently needed. Therefore,we repeatedly tested IgM,IgG,viral spike protein receptor-binding dom(anti-RBD)IgG,and NAb titers in COVID-19 patients during a follow-up period of up to 10 months and explored potential predisposing factors of antibody titers during follow-up.Hao Wang Yu Yuan Mingzhong Xiao Li Chen Youyun Zhao Haiwei Zhang Pinpin Long Yana Zhou Xi Xu Yanshou Lei Bihao Wu Tingyue Diao Hao Cai Li Liu Zuoyu Shao Jingzhi Wang Yansen Bai Kai Wang Miao Peng Linlin Liu Shi Han Fanghua Mei Kun Cai Yake Lei An Pan Chaolong Wang Rui Gong Xiaodong Li Tangchun Wu 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,7:1

Vegetation phenology and its ecohydrological implications from individual to global scales显示文摘The Earth is experiencing unprecedented climate change.Vegetation phenology has already showed strong response to the global warming, which alters mass and energy fluxes on terrestrial ecosystems. With technology and method developments in remote sensing, computer science and citizen science, many recent phenology-related studies have been focused on macrophenology. In this perspective,we 1)reviewed the responses of vegetation phenology to climate change and its impacts on carbon cycling, and reported that the effect of shifted phenology on the terrestrial carbon fluxes is substantially different between spring and autumn;2)elaborated how vegetation phenology affects ecohydrological processes at different scales, and further listed the key issues for each scale,i.e.,focusing on seasonal effect, local feedbacks and regional vapor transport for individual, watershed and global respectively);3)envisioned the potentials to improve current hydrological models by coupling vegetation phenology-related processes,in combining with machine learning, deep learning and scale transformation methods. We propose that comprehensive understanding of climate-macrophenology-hydrology interactions are essential and urgently needed for enhancing our understanding of the ecosystem response and its role in hydrological cycle under future climate change.Shouzhi Chen Yongshuo H.Fu Fanghua Hao Xiaoyan Li Sha Zhou Changming Liu Jing Tang 2022Geography and Sustainability2022,3,4:1
