| 7 | MicroRNAs Are Involved in Maize Immunity Against Fusarium verticillioides Ear Rot显示文摘Fusarium ear rot(FER)caused by Fusarium verticillioides is one of the most common diseases affecting maize production worldwide.FER results in severe yield losses and grain contamination with health-threatening mycotoxins.Although most studies to date have focused on comprehensive analysis of gene regulation in maize during defense responses against F.verticillioides infection,less is known about the role of micro RNAs(mi RNAs)in this process.We used deep sequencing to compare small RNA libraries from the maize kernels of susceptible(N6)or resistant(BT-1)inbred lines from uninfected plants and upon F.verticillioides infection.We found that pathogen exposure was accompanied by dynamic alterations in expression levels of multiple mi RNAs,including new members of previously annotated mi RNA families.A combination of transcriptomic,degradomic,and bioinformatics analyses revealed that F.verticillioides-responsive mi RNAs and their potential target genes displayed opposite expression patterns in the susceptible and resistant genotypes.Functional category analysis uncovered preferential enrichment of the pathogen-responsive mi RNAs and their targets in the phenylpropanoid metabolic processes,plant–pathogen interactions,and plant phytohormone signal transduction pathways.Furthermore,transgenic maize plants overexpressing mi R408 b exhibited reduced resistance to F.verticillioides infection in a susceptible maize line.These findings provide new insights into the regulatory roles of mi RNAs in maize immunity against FER and new resources for breeding disease resistance into maize. | Zijian Zhou Yan Cao Tao Li Xinghao Wang Jiafa Chen Hang He Wen Yao Jianyu Wu Huiyong Zhang | 2020 | Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2020,18,3: | 3 |

| 9 | New Progress in Paleoearthquake Studies of the East Sertengshan Piedmont Fault, Inner Mongolia, China显示文摘The two eastern segments of the Sertengshan piedmont fault have moved considerably since the Holocene. Several paleoseismic events have occurred along the fault since 30 ka BP. Paleoearthquake studies have been advanced by digging new trenches and combining the results with the findings of previous studies. Comprehensive analyses of the trenches revealed that 6 paleoseismic events have occurred on the Kuoluebulong segment since approximately 30 ka BP within the following successive time periods: 19.01–37.56, 18.73, 15.03–15.86, 10.96, 5.77–6.48, and 2.32 ka BP. The analyses also revealed that 6 paleoseismic events have occurred on the Dashetai segment since approximately 30 ka BP, and the successive occurrence times are 29.07, 19.12–28.23, 13.92–15.22, 9.38–9.83, 6.08–8.36, and 3.59 ka BP. The results indicate that quasi-periodic recurrences occurred along the two segments with an approximate 4 000 a mean recurrence interval. The consistent timing of the 6 events between the two segments indicates that the segments might conform to the cascade rupturing model between the two segments. | 13 | Establishment of a hyperspectral evaluation model of ocean color satellite-measured reflectance显示文摘The accuracy of the satellite-measured reflectance is a key question for data processing and oceanographic applications.A hyperspectral satellite remote sensing reflectance evaluation model(HRSREM) was developed to evaluate the accuracy of the satellite measured reflectance.The model can compute the total reflectance at the top of the atmosphere(TOA) according to observation conditions of satellites,based on a radiative transfer model with the consideration of multiple scattering effects and atmospheric absorption effects.The performance of the HRSREM model was examined by Gordon's algorithms,showing that the relative errors of the Rayleigh scattering reflectance and the aerosol scattering reflectance are less than 2%.The model can also compute the sky reflectance which can be validated by in-situ measurements.The two sky reflectances match well with a spectral average error of 5.4%.The relative error of the total reflectance of the model,verified by sea-viewing wide field-of-view sensor(SeaWiFS) data,is about 3.5%.Therefore,the total reflectances at TOA,computed by the model,can be taken as reference values to evaluate the accuracy of satellite reflectances.The model was used to evaluate the accuracy of the hypersptral satellite(Hyperion) remote sensing data.The Hyperion reflectance matches the total reflectance of HRSREM very well at visible and near-infrared bands with an average error of 7.3%,while the status of calibration coefficients at shortwave infrared bands are not stable with a large spectral average error of 63.5%.The reflectance evaluation of a moderate resolution imaging spectrometer(CMODIS) data indicated that relative errors are large,especially at near-infrared bands with relative errors more than 100%.The calibration coefficients of CMODIS,obtained from laboratory measurements,are not reliable.The CMODIS data should be recalibrated for oceanographic applications.The performance of the HRSREM model is effective in evaluating satellite data and its algorithms can be easily modified in order to evaluate the accuracy of other ocean color satellite sensors. | MAO ZhiHua CHEN JianYu HUANG HaiQing HE XianQiang GONG Fang | 2010 | Science China(Information Sciences)2010,53,9: | 1 |
