| 3 | Orbital-scale Asian summer monsoon variations:Paradox and exploration显示文摘The Asian summer monsoon(ASM) is a vast climate system, whose variability is critical to the livelihoods of billions of people across the Asian continent. During the past half-century, much progress has been made in understanding variations on a wide range of timescales, yet several significant issues remain unresolved. Of note are two long-standing problems concerning orbital-scale variations of the ASM.(1) Chinese loess magnetic susceptibility records show a persistent glacial-interglacial dominated ~100 kyr(thousand years) periodicity, while the cave oxygen-isotope(δ18 O) records reveal periodicity in an almost pure precession band(~20 kyr periodicity)—the 'Chinese 100 kyr problem'.(2) ASM records from the Arabian Sea and other oceans surrounding the Asian continent show a significant lag of 8–10 kyr to Northern Hemisphere summer insolation(NHSI), whereas the Asian cave δ18 O records follow NHSI without a significant lag—a discrepancy termed the 'sea-land precession-phase paradox'. How can we reconcile these differences? Recent and more refined model simulations now provide spatial patterns of rainfall and wind across the precession cycle, revealing distinct regional divergences in the ASM domain, which can well explain a large portion of the disparities between the loess, marine, and cave proxy records. Overall, we also find that the loess, marine, and cave records are indeed complementary rather than incompatible, with each record preferentially describing a certain aspect of ASM dynamics. | 4 | DYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF LAG VIBRATION OF A WIND TURBINE BLADE显示文摘Lagwise dynamic characteristics of a wind turbine blade subjected to unsteady aerodynamic loads are studied in this paper.The partial diferential equations governing the coupled longitudinal-transverse vibration of the blade with large bending deflection are obtained by applying Hamilton’s principle.The modal problem of the coupled vibration is handled by using the method of numerical integration of Green’s function.Influences of the rotating speed,the pitch angle,the setting angle,and the aerodynamic loads on natural frequencies are discussed.Results show that:(1)Lagwise natural frequencies ascend with the increase of rotating speed;efects of the rotating speed on low-frequencies are dramatic while these efects on high-frequencies become less.(2)Influences of the pitch angle on natural frequencies are little;in the range of the normal rotating speed,the first frequency ascends with the increase of the absolute value of the pitch angle,while it is contrary to the second and third frequencies.(3)Efects of the setting angle on natural frequencies depend on the rotating speed;influences are not significant at low speed,while they are dramatic on the first frequency at high speed.(4)Efects of the aerodynamic loads on natural frequencies are very little;frequencies derived from the model considering aerodynamic loads are smaller than those from the model neglecting aerodynamic loads;relative errors of the results corresponding to two models ascend with the increase of the absolute value of the setting angle. | Yinghui Li Liang Li Qikuan Liu Haiwei Lv | 2013 | Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2013,26,6: | 3 |

| 6 | Single amino acid substitution of VP1 N17D or VP2 H145Y confers acid-resistant phenotype of type Asia1 foot-and-mouth disease virus显示文摘Infection by foot-and-mouth disease virus(FMDV) is triggered by the acidic pH in endosomes after virus uptake by receptor-mediated endocytosis. However, dissociation of the FMDV 146S particle in mildly acidic conditions renders inactivated foot-and-mouth disease(FMD) vaccines much less effective. Type Asia1 FMDV mutants with increased resistance to acid inactivation were selected to study the molecular basis of viral resistance to acid-induced disassembly and improve the acid stability of FMDV. Sequencing of capsid-coding regions revealed four amino acid replacements(VP1 N17D, VP2 H145Y, VP2 G192D, and VP3 K153E) in the viral population of the acid-selected 10th passage. | 14 | Injectable bone marrow microniches by co-culture of HSPCs with MSCs in 3D microscaffolds promote hematopoietic reconstitution from acute lethal radiation显示文摘Hematopoietic syndrome of acute radiation syndrome(h-ARS)is an acute illness resulted from the damage of bone marrow(BM)microenvironment after exposure to radiation.Currently,the clinical management of h-ARS is limited to medication-assisted treatment,while there is still no specific therapy for the hematopoietic injury from high-dose radiation exposure.Our study aimed to assemble biomimetic three-dimensional(3D)BM microniches by co-culture of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells(HSPCs)and mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)in porous,injectable and viscoelastic microscaffolds in vitro.The biodegradable BM microniches were then transplanted in vivo into the BM cavity for the treatment of h-ARS.We demonstrated that the maintenance of HSPCs was prolonged by co-culture with MSCs in the porous 3D microscaffolds with 84μm in pore diameter and 11.2 kPa in Young’s modulus compared with 2D co-culture system.Besides,the minimal effective dose and therapeutic effects of the BM microniches were investigated on a murine model of h-ARS,which showed that the intramedullary cavity-injected BM microniches could adequately promote hematopoietic reconstitution and mitigate death from acute lethal radiation with a dose as low as 1000 HSPCs.Furthermore,the mRNA expression of Notch1 and its downstream target gene Hes1 of HSPCs were increased when co-cultured with MSCs,while the Jagged1 expression of the co-cultured MSCs was upregulated,indicating the significance of Notch signaling pathway in maintenance of HSPCs.Collectively,our findings provide evidence that biomimetic and injectable 3D BM microniches could maintain HSPCs,promote hematopoiesis regeneration and alleviate post-radiation injury,which provides a promising approach to renovate conventional HSPCs transplantation for clinical treatment of blood and immune disorders. | Haiwei Liang Yanxiao Ao Wenjing Li Kaini Liang Baixue Tang Junyang Li Jianwei Wang Xiaoyu Zhu Yanan Du | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,4: | 0 |
| 15 | Spatially Isolated Noble-Metal-Free Redox Cocatalysts on CdS Nanorods for Increased Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation显示文摘Spatially isolated oxidation and reduction cocatalysts on a semiconductor can realize efficient charge separation and thereby lead to increased photocatalytic hydrogen generation. However, the effective preparation of such photocatalysts has proven challenging.Herein, we report the facile synthesis of a novel noblemetal-free CdS/MoS/CoPi ternary photocatalyst via a visible light-induced synthesis route, in which MoSreduction cocatalysts were precisely grown on the two terminals of CdS nanorods, while CoPi oxidation cocatalysts were preferentially anchored onto the sidewalls of CdS nanorods. Such spatially isolated MoSand CoPi redox cocatalysts endow CdS nanorods with a rapid charge separation, which enhances their hydrogen generation activity. The CdS/MoS/CoPi photocatalyst with optimized CoPi amount achieves the highest Hgeneration rate of 206 μmol/h, which is 21 and 2 times higher than that achieved by using CdS alone(9.7 μmol/h) and CdS/MoS(105 μmol/h), respectively. | 16 | Facile preparation and characterization of novel oleanane-type triterpene functionalized β-cyclodextrin conjugates显示文摘Oleanolic acid(OA) and echinocystic acid(EA), two naturally occurring pentacyclic oleanane triterpenes,are gaining increasing attention due to their promising pharmacological activities. Conjugation with amphiphilic α(β)-cyclodextrin(CD) via 'click chemistry' can improve their solubility and anti-HCV entry potency. In the present work,four water-soluble β-CD-pentacyclic triterpene conjugates were designed and synthesized, in which OA and EA was coupled to one of the primary hydroxyl groups of β-CD via ester and amide bonds. The structures of the conjugates were unambiguously determined by ~1H NMR, ^(13)C NMR and HRMS or MALDI-TOF-MS. All the conjugates showed lower hydrophobicity(AlogP) than their parent compounds and no significant cytotoxicity was found to HL-60, A549, Hela and Bel-7402 cells at concentrations up to 10 μmol/L.
