1Grain refinement of Mg-Al alloys inoculated by MgAl_(2)O_(4)powder显示文摘As a potent nucleating substrate forα-Mg grain,MgAl_(2)O_(4) powder was used to inoculate the Mg-Al melt in this study.The effects of MgAl_(2)O_(4)amount,holding time and Al content on the grain size and grain refining ratio of the inoculated Mg-Al alloys are systematically investigated.The results show that the minimum grain size of Mg-3Al alloy is achieved by adding 2wt.%MgAl_(2)O_(4)powder and this alloy exhibits higher grain refining ratio than Mg-5Al and Mg-8Al alloys.The crystallographic misfit calculation indicates the wellmatching and possible orientation relationships(ORs)betweenα-Mg and MgAl_(2)O_(4).Among these predicted ORs,[10–10]α−Mg//[110]MgAl2O4 in(0002)α−Mg//(1–13)MgAl2O4 possesses the smallest misfit,i.e.,2.34%(fr).Both results of the experiment and crystallographic calculation demonstrate that the grain refinement of Mg-Al alloys is attributed to the MgAl_(2)O_(4)particles acting as the heterogeneous nucleation substrates forα-Mg grains.Hengbin Liao Meiyan Zhan Chengbo Li Zhiqiang Ma Jun Du 2021Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2021,9,4:7
2Molecular basis underlying rice tiller angle:Current progress and future perspectives显示文摘Crop plant architecture is an important agronomic trait that contributes greatly to crop yield.Tiller angle is one of the most critical components that determine crop plant architecture,which in turn substantially af-fects grain yield mainly owing to its large influence on plant density.Gravity is a fundamental physical force that acts on all organisms on earth.Plant organs sense gravity to control their growth orientation,including tiller angle in rice(Oryza sativa).This review summarizes recent research advances made using rice tiller angle as a research model,providing insights into domestication of rice tiller angle,genetic regulation of rice tiller angle,and shoot gravitropism.Finally,we propose that current discoveries in rice can shed light on shoot gravitropism and improvement of plant tiller/branch angle in other species,thereby contributing to agricultural production in the future.Wenguang Wang Hengbin Gao Yan Liang Jiayang Li Yonghong Wang 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,1:5
3Determination of total arsenic by photo-decomposition of organoarsenic compounds and hydride generation electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry显示文摘A method was developed for the determination of total arsenic concentration in less than ng/ml level by decomposition of organoarsenicals using photo -oxidation combined with in situ trapping of arsenic hydride on a palladium coated graphite tube with subsequent atomization and detection by AAS. The organoarsenicals include monomethylarsenic, dimethylarsenic, arsenobetaine, arsenocholine, o -aminobenzenarsenate and p -aminobenzenarsenate. The method is simple and sensitive. Detection limit was obtained from different arsenic compounds over the range from 0. 058 to 0.063 ng/ml as As (based on three times of the standard deviation of 10 blank measurements) and the relative standard deviations for ten replicate measurements were from 2.0 to 3.8%. The calibration curves of arsenic compounds including inorganic and organic arsenicals were linear over the range from 0.1 to 3.0 ng/ml as As. 4Synergistic refining mechanism of Mg-3%Al alloy refining by carbon inoculation combining with Ca addition显示文摘Mg-3%Al alloy was refined by carbon inoculation combining with 0.2%Ca addition.High grain refining efficiency was obtained and the synergistic refining mechanism was deeply discussed in the present study.Al-C-O particles,actually Al4C3 particles,were formed in the carbon-inoculated Mg-3%A1 alloy acting as nuclei forα-Mg grains.Ca addition had no obvious effect on size distribution of the nucleating particles.Ca segregation was proved on Al4C3 particles,which should reduce the interfacial energy of nuclei/Mg.The constitutional undercooling in front of nucleus/liquid was increased from 0.12℃to 0.15℃induced by 0.2%Ca addition.The synergistic grain refining efficiency can be attributed to the higher constitutional undercooling and lower the interface energy of nucleus/Mg induced by Ca addition.More nucleating particles with small size could be activated acting as potent nuclei ofα-Mg grains.Consequently,Mg-3%Al alloy could be effectively refined due to the synergistic effect induced by carbon inoculation combining with Ca.Chengbo Li Shuqing Yang Jun Du HengBin Liao Gan Luo 2020Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2020,8,4:3
5Enhancing rice grain production by manipulating the naturally evolved cis-regulatory element-containing inverted repeat sequence of OsREM20显示文摘Grain number per panicle(GNP)is an important agronomic trait that contributes to rice grain yield.Despite its importance in rice breeding,the molecular mechanism underlying GNP regulation remains largely unknown.In this study,we identified a previously unrecognized regulatory gene that controls GNP in rice,Oryza sativa REPRODUCTIVE MERISTEM 20(OsREM20),which encodes a B3 domain transcription factor.Through genetic analysis and transgenic validation we found that genetic variation in the CArG box-containing inverted repeat(IR)sequence of the OsREM20 promoter alters its expression level and contributes to GNP variation among rice varieties.Furthermore,we revealed that the IR sequence regulates OsREM20 expression by affecting the direct binding of OsMADS34 to the CArG box within the IR sequence.Interestingly,the divergent pOsREM20IR and pOsREM20ΔIR alleles were found to originate from different Oryza rufipogon accessions,and were independently inherited into the japonica and indica subspecies,respectively,during domestication.Importantly,we demonstrated that IR sequence variations in the OsREM20 promoter can be utilized for germplasm improvement through either genome editing or traditional breeding.Taken together,our study characterizes novel genetic variations responsible for GNP diversity in rice,reveals the underlying molecular mechanism in the regulation of agronomically important gene expression,and provides a promising strategy for improving rice production by manipulating the cis-regulatory element-containing IR sequence.Xiaowei Wu Yan Liang Hengbin Gao Jiyao Wang Yan Zhao Lekai Hua Yundong Yuan Ahong Wang Xiaohui Zhang Jiafan Liu Jie Zhou Xiangbing Meng Dahan Zhang Shaoyang Lin Xuehui Huang Bin Han Jiayang Li Yonghong Wang 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,6:3
6Muscarinic acetylcholine receptor is involved in acetylcholine regulating stomatal movement显示文摘In animal cells, action of acetylcholine depends on its binding with its two specific receptors on the plasma membrane: the nicotinic and muscarinic respectively. The present investigation has shown that agonists of muscarinic receptor (muscarine) could induce stomatal opening, while the antagonists (atropine) could block stomatal opening induced by acetylcholine. Their effects can only be realized in medium containing Ca2+, but not in medium containing K+. 12Low-affinity SPL binding sites contribute to subgenome expression divergence in allohexaploid wheat显示文摘Expression divergence caused by genetic variation and crosstalks among subgenomes of the allohexaploid bread wheat(Triticum aestivum.L.,BBAADD)is hypothesized to increase its adaptability and/or plasticity.However,the molecular basis of expression divergence remains unclear.Squamosa promoter-binding protein-like(SPL)transcription factors are critical for a wide array of biological processes.In this study,we constructed expression regulatory networks by combining DAP-seq for 40 SPLs,ATACseq,and RNA-seq.Our findings indicate that a group of low-affinity SPL binding regions(SBRs)were targeted by diverse SPLs and caused different sequence preferences around the core GTAC motif.The SBRs including the low-affinity ones are evolutionarily conserved,enriched GWAS signals related to important agricultural traits.However,those SBRs are highly diversified among the cis-regulatory regions(CREs)of syntenic genes,with less than 8%SBRs coexisting in triad genes,suggesting that CRE variations are critical for subgenome differentiations.Knocking out of Ta SPL7A/B/D and Ta SPL15A/B/D subfamily further proved that both high-and low-affinity SBRs played critical roles in the differential expression of genes regulating tiller number and spike sizes.Our results have provided baseline data for downstream networks of SPLs and wheat improvements and revealed that CRE variations are critical sources for subgenome divergence in the allohexaploid wheat.Hongcui Pei Wan Teng Lifeng Gao Hengbin Gao Xueni Ren Yanhong Liu Jizeng Jia Yiping Tong Yonghong Wang Zefu Lu 2023Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,4:1

18Resistance Identification of Different Flue-cured Tobacco Varieties against Black Shank显示文摘The resistance of 15 flue-cured tobacco varieties were identified by artificial inoculation of black shank. 20Revealing the nucleation event of Mg-Al alloy induced by Fe impurity显示文摘This study revealed the nucleation event and grain refinement mechanism of Mg-Al alloy induced by Fe impurity.The following orientation relationship was observed between Al-Fe particle andα-Mg matrix in the Mg-3Al alloy containing Fe impurity using a focused ion beam aided transmission electron microscope technique:(1^(-)011)[011^(-)1]_(Mg)//(011^(-))[011]_(Al_(2)Fe).Mg-3Al alloy was inoculated by adding 0.02wt%Fe to verify the nucleating potency of the Al_(2)Fe phase forα-Mg grain.The results indicated that Mg-3Al alloy was effectively refined with an average grain size declining from 1135 to 540μm.Among the potential Al-Fe phases of Mg-3Al-0.02Fe alloy,only the precipitation of the Al_(2)Fe phase occurs earlier than that ofα-Mg grain,and the Al_(2)Fe phase is stable in the nucleation stage ofα-Mg grain.Therefore,the Al_(2)Fe particle is the only available nucleating site for Mg-Al alloy with Fe impurity.The heterogeneous nucleation event ofα-Mg grain on the Al_(2)Fe particle is responsible for the grain refinement of Mg-3Al alloy inoculated by Fe.Hengbin Liao Liling Mo Xiong Zhou Zhizhong Yuan Jun Du 2022International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2022,29,7:1
