1Deferoxamine promotes recovery of traumatic spinal cord injury by inhibiting ferroptosis显示文摘Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent novel cell death pathway. Deferoxamine, a ferroptosis inhibitor, has been reported to promote spinal cord injury repair. It has yet to be clarified whether ferroptosis inhibition represents the mechanism of action of Deferoxamine on spinal cord injury recovery. A rat model of Deferoxamine at thoracic 10 segment was established using a modified Allen's method. Ninety 8-week-old female Wistar rats were used. Rats in the Deferoxamine group were intraperitoneally injected with 100 mg/kg Deferoxamine 30 minutes before injury. Simultaneously, the Sham and Deferoxamine groups served as controls. Drug administration was conducted for 7 consecutive days. The results were as follows:(1) Electron microscopy revealed shrunken mitochondria in the spinal cord injury group.(2) The Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan locomotor rating score showed that recovery of the hindlimb was remarkably better in the Deferoxamine group than in the spinal cord injury group.(3) The iron concentration was lower in the Deferoxamine group than in the spinal cord injury group after injury.(4) Western blot assay revealed that, compared with the spinal cord injury group, GPX4, xCT, and glutathione expression was markedly increased in the Deferoxamine group.(5) Real-time polymerase chain reaction revealed that, compared with the Deferoxamine group, mRNA levels of ferroptosis-related genes Acyl-CoA synthetase family member 2(ACSF2) and iron-responsive element-binding protein 2(IREB2) were up-regulated in the Deferoxamine group.(6) Deferoxamine increased survival of neurons and inhibited gliosis. These findings confirm that Deferoxamine can repair spinal cord injury by inhibiting ferroptosis. 4Terrestrial carbon sinks in China and around the world and their contribution to carbon neutrality显示文摘Enhancing the terrestrial ecosystem carbon sink(referred to as terrestrial C sink) is an important way to slow down the continuous increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide(CO_(2)) concentration and to achieve carbon neutrality target.To better understand the characteristics of terrestrial C sinks and their contribution to carbon neutrality,this review summarizes major progress in terrestrial C budget researches during the past decades,clarifies spatial patterns and drivers of terrestrial C sources and sinks in China and around the world,and examines the role of terrestrial C sinks in achieving carbon neutrality target.According to recent studies,the global terrestrial C sink has been increasing from a source of (-0.2±0.9) Pg C yr^(-1)(1 Pg=1015g)in the 1960s to a sink of (1.9±1.1) Pg C yr^(-1) in the 2010s.By synthesizing the published data,we estimate terrestrial C sink of 0.20–0.25 Pg C yr^(-1) in China during the past decades,and predict it to be 0.15–0.52 Pg C yr^(-1) by 2060.The terrestrial C sinks are mainly located in the mid-and high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere,while tropical regions act as a weak C sink or source.The C balance differs much among ecosystem types:forest is the major C sink;shrubland,wetland and farmland soil act as C sinks;and whether the grassland functions as C sink or source remains unclear.Desert might be a C sink,but the magnitude and the associated mechanisms are still controversial.Elevated atmospheric CO_(2) concentration,nitrogen deposition,climate change,and land cover change are the main drivers of terrestrial C sinks,while other factors such as fires and aerosols would also affect ecosystem C balance.The driving factors of terrestrial C sink differ among regions.Elevated CO_(2) concentration and climate change are major drivers of the C sinks in North America and Europe,while afforestation and ecological restoration are additionally important forcing factors of terrestrial C sinks in China.For future studies,we recommend the necessity for intensive and long-term ecosystem C monitoring over broad geographic scale to improve terrestrial biosphere models for accurately evaluating terrestrial C budget and its dynamics under various climate change and policy scenarios.Yuanhe Yang Yue Shi Wenjuan Sun Jinfeng Chang Jianxiao Zhu Leiyi Chen Xin Wang Yanpei Guo Hongtu Zhang Lingfei Yu Shuqing Zhao Kang Xu Jiangling Zhu Haihua Shen Yuanyuan Wang Yunfeng Peng Xia Zhao Xiangping Wang Huifeng Hu Shiping Chen Mei Huang Xuefa Wen Shaopeng Wang Biao Zhu Shuli Niu Zhiyao Tang Lingli Liu Jingyun Fang 2022Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,5:32
5Orbit determination of Chang'E-3 and positioning of the lander and the rover显示文摘Chang’E-3 landed on the east of Sinus Iridum area on December 14,2013,performing China’s first successful soft landing on the lunar surface.We present the results on precision orbit determination and positioning of the lander and the rover.We describe the data,modeling,and methods used to achieve position knowledge over the period December 2–21,2014.In addition to the radiometric X-band range and Doppler tracking data,delta differential one-way ranging data are also used in the calculation,which show that they strongly improve the accuracy of the orbit reconstruction.Total position overlap differences are about 20 and 30 m for the 100 km 9 100 km and100 km9 15 km lunar orbit,respectively,increased by*50%with respect to CE-2 and at the same level as other lunar spacecrafts of recent era such as SELENE and lunar reconnaissance orbiter(LRO).The position error of the soft landing trajectory is less than 100 m.A kinematic statistical method is applied to determine the position of the lander and relative position of the rover with respect to the lander.The position difference of the lander is better than50 m compared to LRO photograph result.Compared with the delta very long baseline interferometry(VLBI)group delay between the lander and the rover,the delta VLBI phase delay can improve the relative position of the rover from*1,000 to*1 m.Yong Huang Shengqi Chang Peijia Li Xiaogong Hu Guangli Wang Qinghui Liu Weimin Zheng Min Fan 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,29:28
6Compound Danshen injection improves endotoxin-induced microcirculatory disturbance in rat mesentery显示文摘AIM: To investigate the effect of compound Danshen injection on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced rat mesenteric microcirculatory dysfunctions and the underlying possible mechanism by an inverted intravital microscope and high-speed video camera system. METHODS: LPS was continuously infused through the jugular artery of male Wistar rats at the dose of 2 mg/kg per hour. Changes in mesenteric microcirculation,such as diameters of arterioles and venules,velocity of RBCs in venules,leukocyte rolling,adhesion and emigration,free radicals released from post-capillary venules,FITC- albumin leakage and mast cell degranulation,were observed through an inverted intravital microscope assisted with CCD camera and SIT camera. Meanwhile,the expression of adhesion molecules CD11b/CD18 and the production of free radical in neutrophils,and the expression of intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were quantified by flow cytometry (FACS) in vitro. RESULTS: The continuous infusion with LPS resulted in a number of responses in microcirculation,including a significant increase in the positive region of venulestained with Monastral blue B,rolling and adhesion of leukocytes,production of oxygen radical in venular wall,albumin efflux and enhanced mast cell degranulation in vivo,all of which,except for the leukocyte rolling,were attenuated by the treatment with compound Danshen injection. Experiments performed in vitro further revealed that the expression of CD11b/CD18 and the production of oxygen free radical in neutrophils,and the expression of ICAM-1 in HUVECs were increased by exposure to LPS,and they were attenuated by compound Danshen injection. 7Rapeseed research and production in China显示文摘Rapeseed(Brassica napus L.) is the largest oilseed crop in China and accounts for about 20% of world production.For the last 10 years,the production,planting area,and yield of rapeseed have been stable,with improvement of seed quality and especially seed oil content.China is among the leading countries in rapeseed genomic research internationally,having jointly with other countries accomplished the whole genome sequencing of rapeseed and its two parental species,Brassica oleracea and Brassica rapa.Progress on functional genomics including the identification of QTL governing important agronomic traits such as yield,seed oil content,fertility regulation,disease and insect resistance,abiotic stress,nutrition use efficiency,and pod shattering resistance has been achieved.As a consequence,molecular markers have been developed and used in breeding programs.During 2005–2014,215 rapeseed varieties were registered nationally,including 210 winter-and 5 spring-type varieties.Mechanization across the whole process of rapeseed production was investigated and operating instructions for all relevant techniques were published.Modern techniques for rapeseed field management such as high-density planting,controlled-release fertilizer,and biocontrol of disease and pests combined with precision tools such as drones have been developed and are being adopted in China.With the application of advanced breeding and production technologies,in the near future,the oil yield and quality of rapeseed varieties will be greatly increased,and more varieties with desirable traits,especially early maturation,high yield,high resistance to biotic and abiotic stress,and suitability for mechanized harvesting will be developed.Application of modern technologies on the mechanized management of rapeseed will greatly increase grower profit.Qiong Hu Wei Hua Yan Yin Xuekun Zhang Lijiang Liu Jiaqin Shi Yongguo Zhao Lu Qin Chang Chen Hanzhong Wang 2017The Crop Journal2017,5,2:25
8Acute cerebrovascular disease following COVID-19: a single center, retrospective, observational study显示文摘Background and purpose COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).Apart from respiratory complications,acute cerebrovascular disease(CVD)has been observed in some patients with COVID-19.Therefore,we described the clinical characteristics,laboratory features,treatment and outcomes of CVD complicating SARS-CoV-2 infection.Materials and methods Demographic and clinical characteristics,laboratory findings,treatments and clinical outcomes were collected and analysed.Clinical characteristics and laboratory findings of patients with COVID-19 with or without new-onset CVD were compared.Results Of 219 patients with COVID-19,10(4.6%)developed acute ischaemic stroke and 1(0.5%)had intracerebral haemorrhage.COVID-19 with new onset of CVD were significantly older(75.7±10.8 years vs 52.1±15.3 years,p<0.001),more likely to present with severe COVID-19(81.8%vs 39.9%,p<0.01)and were more likely to have cardiovascular risk factors,including hypertension,diabetes and medical history of CVD(all p<0.05).In addition,they were more likely to have increased inflammatory response and hypercoagulable state as reflected in C reactive protein(51.1(1.3-127.9)vs 12.1(0.1-212.0)mg/L,p<0.05)and D-dimer(6.9(0.3-20.0)vs 0.5(0.1-20.0)mg/L,p<0.001).Of 10 patients with ischemic stroke;6 received antiplatelet treatment with aspirin or clopidogrel;and 3 of them died.The other four patients received anticoagulant treatment with enoxaparin and 2 of them died.As of 24 March 2020,six patients with CVD died(54.5%).Conclusion Acute CVD is not uncommon in COVID-19.Our findings suggest that older patients with risk factors are more likely to develop CVD.The development of CVD is an important negative prognostic factor which requires further study to identify optimal management strategy to combat the COVID-19 outbreak.Yanan Li Man Li Mengdie Wang Yifan Zhou Jiang Chang Ying Xian David Wang Ling Mao Huijuan Jin Bo Hu 2020Stroke & Vascular Neurology2020,5,3:22

11The wide-area difference system for the regional satellite navigation system of COMPASS显示文摘The regional satellite navigation system of COMPASS (Phase I) provides both open services and authorized services. Authorized services offer differential corrections and integrity information to users to support higher positioning, navigation and timing precision. Experimenting with real data, positioning accuracy is estimated with a 3GEO/4IGSO COMPASS constellation. The results show that with dual-frequency and single-frequency pseudo-range measurements, the positioning errors are respectively 8 and 10 m (RMS) for open service users, while for authorized users, the errors are 4 and 5 m (RMS), respectively. The COMPASS constellation geometry may cause large error to occur in the height component by 7-9 m for dualor single-frequency users, which can be effectively reduced with the differential corrections supplied by the authorized services. 12Human ESC-derived expandable hepatic organoids enable therapeutic liver repopulation and pathophysiological modeling of alcoholic liver injury显示文摘We report the generation of human ESC-derived,expandable hepatic organoids(hEHOs)using our newly established method with wholly defined(serum-free,feeder free)media.The hEHOs stably maintain phenotypic features of bipotential liver stem/progenitor cells that can differentiate into functional hepatocytes or cholangiocytes.The hEHOs can expand for 20 passages enabling large scale expansion to cell numbers requisite for industry or clinical programs.The cells from hEHOs display remarkable repopulation capacity in injured livers of FRG mice following transplantation,and they differentiate in vivo into mature hepatocytes.If implanted into the epididymal fat pads of immune-deficient mice,they do not generate non-hepatic lineages and have no tendency to form teratomas.We further develop a derivative model by incorporating human fetal liver mesenchymal cells(hFLMCs)into the hEHOs,referred to as hFLMC/hEHO,which can model alcoholic liver disease-associated pathophysiologic changes,including oxidative stress generation,steatosis,inflammatory mediators release and fibrosis,under ethanol treatment.Our work demonstrates that the hEHOs have considerable potential to be a novel,ex vivo pathophysiological model for studying alcoholic liver disease as well as a promising cellular source for treating human liver diseases.Shuyong Wang Xuan Wang Zuolong Tan Yuxin Su Juan Liu Mingyang Chang Fang Yan Jie Chen Tao Chen Chuanjiang Li Jie Hu Yunfang Wang 2019Cell Research2019,29,12:20

15Electroacupuncture induces acute changes in cerebral cortical mi RNA profile, improves cerebral blood flow and alleviates neurological deficits in a rat model of stroke显示文摘Electroacupuncture has been shown to improve cerebral blood flow in animal models of stroke. However, it is unclear whether electroacupuncture alters mi RNA expression in the cortex. In this study, we examined changes in the cerebral cortical mi RNA profile, cerebral blood flow and neurological function induced by electroacupuncture in a rat model of stroke. Electroacupuncture was performed at Renzhong(GV26) and Neiguan(PC6), with a frequency of 2 Hz, continuous wave, current intensity of 3.0 m A, and stimulation time of 1 minute. Electroacupuncture increased cerebral blood flow and alleviated neurological impairment in the rats. mi RNA microarray profiling revealed that the vascular endothelial growth factor signaling pathway, which links cell proliferation with stroke, was most significantly affected by electroacupuncture. Electroacupuncture induced changes in expression of rno-mi R-206-3p, rno-mi R-3473, rno-mi R-6216 and rno-mi R-494-3p, and these changes were confirmed by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. 16Insulin resistance is associated with hepatocellular carcinoma in chronic hepatitis C infection显示文摘AIM:To elucidate the role of insulin resistance(IR) and serum adiponectin level in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) associated with chronic hepatitis C.METHODS:Clinical and biochemical characteristics were collected from 165 consecutive patients with newly diagnosed HCC.Homeostasis model assessment of IR(HOMA-IR) and serum adiponectin level were investigated in 188 patients with different stages of hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection.RESULTS:Among HCC patients,type 2 diabetics(DM) was more prevalent in HCV subjects(35.6%,n = 59) compared to hepatitis B virus(HBV;12.7%,n = 63) or non-HBV,non-HCV cases(7.1%,n = 28).In patients with chronic hepatitis C,HCC subjects had higher blood sugar(P < 0.001),insulin level(P = 0.003) and HOMAIR(P = 0.018) than those with chronic hepatitis and advanced fibrosis.Age,male sex and body mass index were significantly associated with serum adiponectin level,whereas HOMA-IR was not.Based on stepwise logistic regression analysis,age(OR:1.124,P < 0.001),serum insulin level(OR:1.585,P < 0.001),HOMA-IR(OR:0.495,P = 0.001),DM(OR:11.601,P = 0.002) and male sex(OR:3.877,P = 0.016) were independently associated with HCC.This result was similar even if the diabetic subjects were excluded for analysis.CONCLUSION:Insulin resistance measured by HOMAIR,regardless of the presence of diabetes,is significantly associated with HCC development in patients with chronic HCV infection.Chao-Hung Hung Jing-Houng Wang Tsung-Hui Hu Chien-Hung Chen Kuo-Chin Chang Yi-Hao Yen YuanHung Kuo Ming-Chao Tsai Chuan-Mo Lee 2010World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,18:18
