| 1 | Design of a new dynamical core for global atmospheric models based on some efficient numerical methods显示文摘A careful study on the integral properties of the primitive hydrostatic balance equations for baroclinic atmosphere is carried out, and a new scheme todesign the global adiabatic model of atmospheric dynamics ispresented. This scheme includes a method of weighted equal-areamesh and a fully discrete finite difference method with quadraticand linear conservations for solving the primitive equationsystem. Using this scheme, we established a new dynamical corewith adjustable high resolution acceptable to the availablecomputer capability, which can be very stable without anyfiltering and smoothing. Especially, some important integralproperties are kept unchanged, such as the anti-symmetries of thehorizontal advection operators and the vertical convectionoperator, the mass conservation, the effective energy conservationunder the standard stratification approximation, and so on. | 2 | Western North Pacific Tropical Cyclone Database Created by the China Meteorological Administration显示文摘This paper describes the access to, and the content, characteristics, and potential applications of the tropical cyclone(TC) database that is maintained and actively developed by the China Meteorological Administration, with the aim of facilitating its use in scientific research and operational services. This database records data relating to all TCs that have passed through the western North Pacific(WNP) and South China Sea(SCS) since 1949. TC data collection has expanded over recent decades via continuous TC monitoring using remote sensing and specialized field detection techniques,allowing collation of a multi-source TC database for the WNP and SCS that covers a long period, with wide coverage and many observational elements. This database now comprises a wide variety of information related to TCs, such as historical or real-time locations(i.e., best track and landfall), intensity, dynamic and thermal structures, wind strengths, precipitation amounts, and frequency. | 3 | Efficacy of cattle encephalon glycoside and ignotin in patients with acute cerebral infarction: a randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, placebo-controlled study显示文摘Cattle encephalon glycoside and ignotin(CEGI)injection is a compound preparation formed by a combination of muscle extract from hea lthy rabbits and brain gangliosides from cattle,and it is generally used as a neuroprotectant in the treatment of central and peripheral nerve injuries.However,there is still a need for high-level clinical evidence from large samples to support the use of CEGI.We therefore carried out a prospective,multicenter,randomized,double-blind,parallel-group,placebo-controlled study in which we recruited 319 patients with acute cerebral infarction from 16 centers in China from October 2013 to May 2016.The patients were randomized at a 3:1 ratio into CEGI(n=239;155 male,84 female;61.2±9.2 years old)and placebo(n=80;46 male,34 female;63.2±8.28 years old)groups.All patients were given standard care once daily for 14 days,including a 200 mg aspirin enteric-coated tablet and 20 mg atorvastatin calcium,both taken orally,and intravenous infusion of 250–500 mL 0.9%sodium chloride containing 40 mg sodium tanshinone IIA sulfonate.Based on conventional treatment,patients in the CEGI and placebo groups were given 12 mL CEGI or 12 mL sterile water,respectively,in an intravenous drip of 250 mL 0.9%sodium chloride(2 mL/min)once daily for 14 days.According to baseline National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale scores,patients in the two groups were divided into mild and moderate subgroups.Based on the modified Rankin Scale results,the rate of patients with good outcomes in the CEGI group was higher than that in the placebo group,and the rate of disability in the CEGI group was lower than that in the placebo group on day 90 after treatment.In the CEGI group,neurological deficits were decreased on days 14 and 90 after treatment,as measured by the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale and the Barthel Index.Subgroup analysis revealed that CEGI led to more significant improvements in moderate stroke patients.No drug-related adverse events occurred in the CEGI or placebo groups.In conclusion,CEGI may be a safe and effective treatment for acute cerebral infarction patients,especially for moderate stroke patients.This study was approved by the Ethical Committee of Peking University Third Hospital,China(approval No.2013-068-2)on May 20,2013,and registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry(registration No.ChiCTR1800017937). | Hui Zhang Chuan-Ling Li Feng Wan Su-Juan Wang Xiu-E Wei Yan-Lei Hao Hui-Lin Leng Jia-Min Li Zhong-Rui Yan Bao-Jun Wang Ren-Shi Xu Ting-Min Yu Li-Chun Zhou Dong-Sheng Fan | 2020 | Neural Regeneration Research2020,15,7: | 54 |
| 4 | Anisotropic coding metamaterials and their powerful manipulation of differently polarized terahertz waves显示文摘Metamaterials based on effective media can be used to produce a number of unusual physical properties(for example,negative refraction and invisibility cloaking)because they can be tailored with effective medium parameters that do not occur in nature.Recently,the use of coding metamaterials has been suggested for the control of electromagnetic waves through the design of coding sequences using digital elements‘0’and‘1,'which possess opposite phase responses.Here we propose the concept of an anisotropic coding metamaterial in which the coding behaviors in different directions are dependent on the polarization status of the electromagnetic waves.We experimentally demonstrate an ultrathin and flexible polarization-controlled anisotropic coding metasurface that functions in the terahertz regime using specially designed coding elements.By encoding the elements with elaborately designed coding sequences(both 1-bit and 2-bit sequences),the x-and y-polarized waves can be anomalously reflected or independently diffused in three dimensions.The simulated far-field scattering patterns and near-field distributions are presented to illustrate the dual-functional performance of the encoded metasurface,and the results are consistent with the measured results.We further demonstrate the ability of the anisotropic coding metasurfaces to generate a beam splitter and realize simultaneous anomalous reflections and polarization conversions,thus providing powerful control of differently polarized electromagnetic waves.The proposed method enables versatile beam behaviors under orthogonal polarizations using a single metasurface and has the potential for use in the development of interesting terahertz devices. | Shuo Liu Tie Jun Cui Quan Xu Di Bao Liangliang Du Xiang Wan Wen Xuan Tang Chunmei Ouyang Xiao Yang Zhou Hao Yuan Hui Feng Ma Wei Xiang Jiang Jiaguang Han Weili Zhang Qiang Cheng | 2016 | Light(Science & Applications)2016,5,1: | 36 |

| 6 | Oxymatrine liposome attenuates hepatic fibrosis via targeting hepatic stellate cells显示文摘AIM:To investigate the potential mechanism of ArgGly-Asp(RGD) peptide-labeled liposome loading oxymatrine(OM) therapy in CCl 4-induced hepatic fibrosis in rats.METHODS:We constructed a rat model of CCl 4 induced hepatic fibrosis and treated the rats with different formulations of OM.To evaluate the antifibrotic effect of OM,we detected levels of alkaline phosphatase,hepatic histopathology(hematoxylin and eosin stain and Masson staining) and fibrosis-related gene expression of matrix metallopeptidase(MMP)-2,tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase(TIMP)-1 as well as type Ⅰ procollagen via quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction.To detect cell viability and apoptosis of hepatic stellate cells(HSCs),we performed 3-(4,5)-dimethylthiahiazo(-z-y1)-3,5-diphenytetrazoliumromide assay and flow cytometry.To reinforce the combination of oxymatrine with HSCs,we constructed fluorescein-isothiocyanate-conjugated Arg-Gly-Asp peptide-labeled liposomes loading OM,and its targeting of HSCs was examined by fluorescent microscopy.RESULTS:OM attenuated CCl 4-induced hepatic fibrosis,as defined by reducing serum alkaline phosphatase(344.47 ± 27.52 U/L vs 550.69 ± 43.78 U/L,P < 0.05),attenuating liver injury and improving collagen deposits(2.36% ± 0.09% vs 7.70% ± 0.60%,P < 0.05) and downregulating fibrosis-related gene expression,that is,MMP-2,TIMP-1 and type Ⅰ procollagen(P < 0.05).OM inhibited cell viability and induced apoptosis of HSCs in vitro.RGD promoted OM targeting of HSCs and enhanced the therapeutic effect of OM in terms of serum alkaline phosphatase(272.51 ± 19.55 U/L vs 344.47 ± 27.52 U/L,P < 0.05),liver injury,collagen deposits(0.26% ± 0.09% vs 2.36% ± 0.09%,P < 0.05) and downregulating fibrosis-related gene expression,that is,MMP-2,TIMP-1 and type Ⅰ procollagen(P < 0.05).Moreover,in vitro assay demonstrated that RGD enhanced the effect of OM on HSC viability and apoptosis.CONCLUSION:OM attenuated hepatic fibrosis by inhibiting viability and inducing apoptosis of HSCs.The RGD-labeled formulation enhanced the targeting efficiency for HSCs and the therapeutic effect. | Ning-Li Chai Qiang Fu Hui Shi Chang-Hao Cai Jun Wan Shi-Ping Xu Ben-Yan Wu | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,31: | 27 |
| 7 | Mesenchymal stem cells alleviate TNBS-induced colitis by modulating inflammatory and autoimmune responses显示文摘AIM: To investigate the potential therapeutic effects of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), we transplanted MSCs into an experimental model of IBD. METHODS: A rectal enema of trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS) (100 mg/kg body weight) was administered to female BALB/c mice. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) were derived from male green fluorescent protein (GFP) transgenic mice and were transplanted intravenously into the experimental animals after disease onset. Clinical activity scores and histological changes were evaluated. GFP and Sex determining region Y gene (SRY ) expression were used for cell tracking. Ki67 positive cells and Lgr5-expressing cells were determined to measure proliferative activity. Inflammatory response was determined by mea-suring the levels of different inflammatory mediators in the colon and serum. The inflammatory cytokines included tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interferon-γ (IFN-γ), interleukin-2 (IL-2), IL-6, IL-17, IL-4, IL-10, and transforming growth factor (TGF-β). Master regulators of Th1 cells (T-box expressed in T cells, T-bet), Th17 cells (retinoid related orphan receptor gamma(t), RORγt), Th2 cells (GATA family of transcription factors 3, GATA3) and regulatory T cells (forkhead box P3, Foxp3) were also determined. RESULTS: Systemic infusion of GFP-BMSCs ameliorated the clinical and histopathologic severity of colitis, including body weight loss, diarrhea and inflammation, and increased survival (P < 0.05). The cell tracking study showed that MSCs homed to the injured colon. MSCs promoted proliferation of intestinal epithelial cells and differentiation of intestinal stem cells (P < 0.01). This therapeutic effect was mainly mediated by downregulation of both Th1-Th17-driven autoimmune and inflammatory responses (IL-2, TNF-α, IFN-γ, T-bet; IL-6, IL-17, RORγt), and by up-regulation of Th2 activities (IL-4, IL-10, GATA-3) (P < 0.05). MSCs also induced activated CD4 + CD25 + Foxp3 + regulatory T cells (TGF-β, IL-10, Foxp3) with a suppressive capacity on Th1-Th17 effecter responses and promoted Th2 differentiation in vivo (P < 0.05). | 8 | Monitoring lake changes of Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau over the past 30 years using satellite remote sensing data显示文摘During the years 2006–2009,lakes in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau(QTP)were investigated using satellite remote sensing strategies.We report the results of this investigation as well as follow-up research and expanded work.For the investigation,we mainly focused on lakes whose areas are more than 1 km2.The remote sensing data that we used included 408 scenes of CBERS CCD images and 5 scenes of Landsat ETM?images in Qinghai Province and Tibet Autonomous Region.All these data were acquired around years 2005–2006.Besides remote sensing images,we also collected 1,259 topographic maps.Numbers and areas of lakes were analyzed statistically,which were then compared with those coming from the first lake investigation(implemented between the1960s and 1980s).According to our investigation,up to and around year 2005–2006,the total number of lakes in the QTP was 1,055(222 in Qinghai and 833 in Tibet),accounting for more than 30%of that of China.Thirty newborn lakes with area[1 km2were found,and 5 dead lakes with initial area[1 km2were also found.Among those 13 big lakes([500 km2),Yamzhog Yumco had seriously shrunk,and it has continued to shrink in recent years;Qinghai Lake had shrunk during the period,but some new researches indicated that it has been expanding since the year 2004;Siling Co,Nam Co,and Chibuzhang Co had expanded in the period.We divided the newborn lakes into six categories according to their forming reasons,including river expansion,wetland conversion,etc.The changes of natural conditions led to the death of four lakes,and human exploitation was the main reason for the death of Dalianhai Lake in Qinghai.We picked out three regions which were sensitive to the change of climate and ecological environment:Nagqu Region,Kekexili Region,and the source area of the Yellow River(SAYR).Lakes in both Nagqu and Kekexili have been expanded;meanwhile,most lakes in the SAYR have obviously been shrunk.These regional patterns of lake changes were highly related to variations of temperature,glacier,precipitation,and evaporation.Our investigation and analysis will provide references for researches related to lake changes in the QTP and the response to climate fluctuations. | Wei Wan Pengfeng Xiao Xuezhi Feng Hui Li Ronghua Ma Hongtao Duan Limin Zhao | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,10: | 22 |

GV1, GV2 and endosome releasing oligopeptide HA20 were conjugated with poly-L-lysine or protamine and the resulting conjugates could interact with DNA in a noncovalent bond to form a complex. Using pSV2-β-galactosidase as a reporter gene, it has been demonstrated that exogenous gene was transferred into bovine aortic arch-derived endothelial cells (ABAE) andhuman malignant melanoma cell lines (A375) in vitro. In vivo experiments, exogenous gene was transferred into tumor vascular endothelial cells and tumor cells of subcutaneously transplanted human colon cancer LOVO, human malignant melanoma A375 and human hepatoma graft in nude mice. This system could also target gene to intrahepatically transplanted human hepatoma injected via portal vein in nude mice. | 12 | Associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy versus sequential transarterial chemoembolization and portal vein embolization in staged hepatectomy for HBV-related hepatocellular carcinoma:a randomized comparative study显示文摘Background:Both portal vein embolization(PVE)and associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy(ALPPS)have merits and demerits when used in patients with unresectable liver cancers due to insufficient volumes in future liver remnant(FLR).Methods:This study was a single-center,prospective randomized comparative study.Patients with the diagnosis of hepatitis B related hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to the 2 groups.The primary endpoints were tumor resection and three-year overall survival(OS)rates.Results:Between November 2014 to June 2016,76 patients with unresectable HBV-related HCC due to inadequate volume of FLR were randomly assigned to ALPPS groups(n=38)and TACE+PVE groups(n=38).Thirty-seven patients(97.4%)in the ALPPS group compared with 25 patients(65.8%)in the TACE+PVE group were able to undergo staged hepatectomy(risk ratio 1.48,95%CI:1.17-1.87,P<0.001).The three-year OS rate of the ALPPS group(65.8%)(95%CI:50.7-80.9)was significantly better than the TACE+PVE group(42.1%)(95%CI:26.4-57.8)(HR 0.50,95%CI:0.26-0.98,two-sided P=0.036).However,no significant difference in the OS rates between patients who underwent tumor resection in the 2 groups of patients was found(HR 0.80,95%CI:0.35-1.83,two-sided P=0.595).Major postoperative complications rates after the stage-2 hepatectomy were 54.1%in the ALPPS group and 20.0%in the TACE+PVE group(risk ratio 2.70,95%CI:1.17-6.25,P=0.007).Conclusions:ALPPS resulted in significantly better intermediate-term OS outcomes,at the expenses of a significantly higher perioperative morbidity rate compared with TACE+PVE in patients who had initially unresectable HBV-related HCC. | Peng-Peng Li Gang Huang Ning-Yang Jia Ze-Ya Pan Hui Liu Yun Yang Cheng-Jian He Wan Yee Lau Ye-Fa Yang Wei-Ping Zhou | 2022 | Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition2022,11,1: | 16 |
| 13 | Coping as a Mechanism Linking Stressful Life Events and Mental Health Problems in Adolescents显示文摘Objective Although stressful life events represent an etiologic factor of mental health problems in adolescents,few studies have been conducted to address mechanisms linking the stress‐psychopathology relation.The present study was designed to examine coping as a mediate factor on the relationship between stressful life events and symptoms of anxiety and depression.Methods The participants were 13 512 students from eight cities of China,who participated in a school‐based survey.Data were collected by a questionnaire comprising coping,stressful life events,anxiety,and depressive symptoms.As a model,a series of regression equations were used to examine whether coping mediated the association between stressful life events and symptoms of anxiety and depression.Results Each dimension of stressful life events showed significant correlation with anxiety,depression and coping (all P<0.001).In the model to analyze mediate effects,all standardized coefficients (β) were significant (all P<0.01),indicating marked mediator effects.Furthermore,negative coping might account for more mediate effects than positive coping on this relationship.Conclusion Coping partially mediated the relationship between stressful life events and mental health during adolescence.This study highlighted an important public health priority for preventive interventions targeting stress‐related psychopathology,and for further promoting adolescents'mental health. | MENG Xiu Hong TAO Fang Biao WAN Yu Hui HU Yan WANG Ren Xi | 2011 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2011,24,6: | 16 |

| 15 | Designing solid-state interfaces on lithium-metal anodes: a review显示文摘Li-metal anodes are one of the most promising energy storage systems that can considerably exceed the current technology to meet the ever-increasing demand of power applications. The apparent cycling performances and dendrite challenges of Li-metal anodes are highly influenced by the interface layer on the Li-metal anode because the intrinsic high reactivity of metallic Li results in an inevitable solid-state interface layer between the Li-metal and electrolytes. In this review, we summarize the recent progress on the interfacial chemistry regarding the interactions between electrolytes and ion migration through dynamic interfaces. The critical factors that affect the interface formation for constructing a stable interface with a low resistance are reviewed. Moreover, we review emerging strategies for rationally designing multiple-structured solid-state electrolytes and their interfaces, including the interfacial properties within hybrid electrolytes and the solid electrolyte/electrode interface. | 16 | The Predictive Value of Baseline HBs Ag Level and Early Response for HBs Ag Loss in Patients with HBe Ag-positive Chronic Hepatitis B during Pegylated Interferon Alpha-2a Treatment显示文摘Objective To explore the predictive value of baseline HBsAg level and early response for HBsAg loss in patients with HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B during pegylated interferon alpha-2a treatment. Methods A total of 121 patients with HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B who achieved HBsAg loss were enrolled; all patients were treated with PEG-IFNα-2a 180 μg/week. Serum HBV DNA and serological indicators(HBsAg, anti-HBs, HBeAg, and anti-HBe) were determined before and every 3 months during treatment. Results The median treatment time for HBsAg loss was 84 weeks(7-273 weeks), and 74.38%(90 cases) of the patients needed extended treatment(> 48 weeks). The correlation between baseline HBsAg levels and the treatment time of HBsAg loss was significant(B = 14.465, t = 2.342, P = 0.021). Baseline HBsAg levels together with the decline range of HBsAg at 24 weeks significantly correlated with the treatment time of HBsAg loss(B = 29.862, t = 4.890, P = 0.000 and B = 27.993, t = 27.993, P = 0.005). Conclusion Baseline HBsAg levels and extended therapy are critical steps toward HBsAg loss. | 17 | Evaluating Conservation Effectiveness of Nature Reserves Established for Surrogate Species:Case of a Giant Panda Nature Reserve in Qinling Mountains,China显示文摘Many nature reserves are established to protect the habitat needs of particular endangered species of interest but their effectiveness for protecting other species is questionable.In this study,this effectiveness was evaluated in a nature reserve network located in the Qinling Mountains,Shaanxi Province,China.The network of reserves was established mainly for the conservation of the giant panda,a species considered as a surrogate for the conservation of many other endangered species in the region.The habitat suitability of nine protected species,including the giant panda,was modeled by using Maximum Entropy(MAXENT)and their spatial congruence was analyzed.Habitat suitability of these species was also overlapped with nature reserve boundaries and their management zones(i.e.,core,buffer and experimental zones).Results show that in general the habitat of the giant panda constitutes a reasonable surrogate of the habitat of other protected species,and giant panda reserves protect a relatively high proportion of the habitat of other protected species.Therefore,giant panda habitat conservation also allows the conservation of the habitat of other protected species in the region.However,a large area of suitable habitat was excluded from the nature reserve network.In addition,four species exhibited a low proportion of highly suitable habitat inside the core zones of nature reserves.It suggests that a high proportion of suitable habitat of protected species not targeted for conservation is located in the experimental and buffer zones,thus,is being affected by human activities.To increase their conservation effectiveness,nature reserves and their management zones need to be re-examined in order to include suitable habitat of more endangered species.The procedures described in this study can be easily implemented for the conservation of many endangered species not only in China but in many other parts of the world. | XU Weihua Andrés VIA QI Zengxiang OUYANG Zhiyun LIU Jianguo LIU Wei WAN Hui | 2014 | Chinese Geographical Science2014,24,1: | 12 |
| 18 | Raindrop Size Distribution Parameters Retrieved from Guangzhou S-band Polarimetric Radar Observations显示文摘According to the statistical shape–slope(μ–Λ) relationship observed for the first time by several 2 D-Video-Distrometers(2 DVD) in southern China, a constrained gamma(C-G) model was proposed for the retrieval of rain drop size distributions(DSDs) from Guangzhou S-band polarimetric radar observations. Two typical precipitation processes were selected to verify the accuracy of the retrieval scheme. The μ–Λ relationship: Λ = 0.0241μ2 + 0.867μ + 2.453 was obtained based on the 2 DVD observation results from at Huizhou Longmen station, which is a very representative location in the area. Relying on the Guangzhou polarimetric radar measurements of radar reflectivity(ZHH) and differential reflectivity(ZDR), the gamma(Γ) size distribution parameters(N0, μ, and Λ) can be retrieved by the C-G model retrieval scheme. The results show that the Guangzhou polarimetric radar retrievals of DSDs were close to the2 DVD observations at Guangzhou Maofengshan station. The rain rate, mass mean diameter, and normalized intercept parameter of radar retrievals were in good agreement with the 2 DVD observations, and the relative errors were less than 10%. The overall accuracy of the retrieval scheme was high. The retrieval scheme has established the relationship between the polarimetric radar measurements and gamma size distribution parameters. | 19 | Neoadjuvant oxaliplatin and capecitabine combined with bevacizumab plus radiotherapy for locally advanced rectal cancer: results of a single-institute phase II study显示文摘Background:Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy followed by surgery is recommended as the standard of care for locally advanced rectal cancer,reducing local recurrence but not distant metastasis.Intensified systemic therapy is warranted to reduce the risk of distant metastasis.The present study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of neo-adjuvant oxaliplatin and capecitabine(XELOX)combined with bevacizumab plus radiotherapy for locally advanced rectal cancer.Methods:Patients with stages II to III rectal cancer received one cycle of induction chemotherapy and concurrent chemoradiotherapy with XELOX plus bevacizumab.Surgery was performed 6-8 weeks after completion of radiotherapy,and postoperative chemotherapy with three cycles of XELOX and two cycles of capecitabine were given.The primary endpoints were pathologic complete response(pCR)rate and safety,and the secondary endpoints were 3-year overall survival and progression-free survival.Results:Forty-five patients were enrolled between February 2013 and April 2015.All completed the neoadjuvant therapy.Seven patients(15.6%)refused subsequent surgical therapy for personal reasons,and the other 38 patients received radical resection,with a sphincter preservation rate of 84.2%and a pCR rate of 39.5%.Toxicity was acceptable,with grades 3-4 hematological toxicity and diarrhea observed in six and two patients,respectively.Incidence of anastomotic leak that required surgical intervention was 13.3%.After a median follow-up period of 37 months,five patients developed disease progression and two died of cancer.The 3-year overall survival rate and 3-year progres-sion-free survival rate were 95.3%and 88.6%,respectively.Conclusions:The addition of bevacizumab to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy resulted in a satisfying pCR rate and 3-year survival,but also may increase the risk of anastomotic leak,thus this regimen is not suitable to be considered for regular recommendation for locally advanced rectal cancer. | Xin Yu Qiao-xuan Wang Wei-wei Xiao Hui Chang Zhi-fan Zeng Zhen-hai Lu Xiao-jun Wu Gong Chen Zhi-zhong Pan De-sen Wan Pei-rong Ding Yuan-hong Gao | 2018 | Cancer Communications2018,38,1: | 10 |
