| 3 | A novel method for singularity analysis of the 6-SPS parallel mechanisms显示文摘Singularity analysis is a basic problem of parallel mechanism, and this problem cannot be avoided in both workspace and motion planning. How to express the singularity locus in an analytical form is the research emphasis for many researchers for a long time. This paper presents a new method for the singularity analysis of the 6-SPS parallel mechanism. The rotation matrix is described by quaternion, and both the rotation matrix and the coordinate vectors have been expanded to four-dimensional forms. Through analyzing the coupling relationship between the position variables and the orientation variables, utilizing properties of the quaternion, eight equivalent equations can be obtained. A new kind of Jacobian matrix is derived from those equations, and the analytical expression of the singularity locus is obtained by calculating the determinant of the new Jacobian matrix. | 4 | Laboratory study on the mechanical behaviors of an anisotropic shale rock显示文摘Shale gas is becoming an important energy source worldwide.The geomechanical properties of shale rocks can have a major impact on the ef fi ciency of shale gas exploration.This paper studied the mineralogical and mechanical characteristics of a typical gas shale in Ohio,USA.Scanning electron microscope(SEM)with energy dispersive X-ray(EDX)analyses was employed to measure the microstructure and material composition of the shale rock.The anisotropic behaviors of shale rock,including compressive and tensile strengths,were experimentally measured.The characteristics of shale rock were also studied by nondestructive wave speed measurements.The shale demonstrated strong anisotropic behaviors with the tensile strengths perpendicular to the bedding plane around 300e360 times of that parallel to bedding plane.Results of ultrasonic tests indicated that both compression and shear wave velocities show strong anisotropic patterns.The compression wave speed was the smallest in the direction perpendicular to the bedding plane;while the shear wave speed was the smallest in the direction parallel to the bedding plane.The ratio of wave speed anisotropy is around 1.3e1.4 for compression wave;the ratio of shear wave speed anisotropy is larger and more diverse compared with the compression wave anisotropy.This might be related to the larger variability in the frictional adhesive strength along bedding plane than the compressive adhesive strength. | Quan Gao Junliang Tao Jianying Hu Xiong(Bill) Yu | 2015 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2015,7,2: | 10 |

| 6 | Inhibiting autophagy enhances sulforaphane-induced apoptosis via targeting NRF2 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘Sulforaphane(SFN), a natural anti-tumor compound from cruciferous vegetables, has been reported to induce protective autophagy to cancer cells, which might impair the anti-tumor efficiency of SFN. However, the accurate function and mechanism of SFN inducing autophagy in cancers are still obscure, especially in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC), one of malignancies with high incidence in North China. Here, we mainly explored the potential function of autophagy upon SFN treatment in ESCC and molecular mechanism. We demonstrated that SFN could inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis by activating caspase pathway. Moreover, we found activation of NRF2 pathway by SFN was responsible for the induction of autophagy and also a disadvantage element to the anti-tumor effects of SFN on ESCC, indicating that SFN might induce protective autophagy in ESCC. We, therefore,investigated effects of autophagy inhibition on sensitivity of ESCC cells to SFN and found that chloroquine(CQ) could neutralize the activation of SFN on NRF2 and enhance the activation of SFN on caspase pathway, thus improved the anti-tumor efficiency of SFN on ESCC in vitro and in vivo. | 7 | High efficiency linear compressor driven pulse tube cryocooler operating in liquid nitrogen temperature显示文摘The inertance tube is one of the key components of a pulse tube cryocooler. It has great influence not only on the efficiency of the pulse tube cryocooler, but also on the efficiency of the linear compressor. Meanwhile, it is very difficult to predict the impedance of an inertance tube because of the turbulent flow. In this paper, using a quasi-turbulent model, the inertance tube is optimized to match a linear compressor driven pulse tube cryocooler. Experimental results show that this model can predict the impedance quite well. With 127 W input electric power, the pulse tube cryocooler obtains 9.4 W cooling power at a temperature of 77 K. | 9 | Namib desert beetle inspired special patterned fabric with programmable and gradient wettability for efficient fog harvesting显示文摘Efficient collection of water from fog provides a potential solution to solve the global freshwater shortage problem, particularly in the desert or arid regions. In this work, a flexible and highly efficient fog collector was prepared by mimicking the back exoskeleton structure of the Namib desert beetle. The improved fog collector was constructed by a superhydrophobic-superhydrophilic patterned fabric via a simple weaving method, followed by in-situ deposition of copper particles. Compared with the conventional fog collector with a plane structure, the fabric has shown a higher water-harvesting rate at 1432.7 mg/h/cm2,owing to the biomimetic three-dimensional structure, its enhanced condensation performance enabled by the copper coating and the rational distribution of wetting units. | 13 | Oxygen-doping of ZnIn_(2)S_(4) nanosheets towards boosted photocatalytic CO_(2) reduction显示文摘Engineering the electronic properties of semiconductor-based photocatalysts using elemental doping is an effective approach to improve their catalytic activity.Nevertheless,there still remain contradictions regarding the role of the dopants played in photocatalysis.Herein,ultrathin ZnIn_(2)S_(4)(ZIS) nanosheets with oxygen doping were synthesized by a one-pot solvothermal method.XRD,XPS and Raman spectral measurements support the presence of lattice oxygen in the oxygen-doped ZIS(O-ZIS) sample.With optimum doping of oxygen,the ultrathin O-ZIS nanosheets show enhanced CO_(2)-to-CO conversion activity with a CO_(2)-evolving rate of 1680 μmol h^(-1) g^(-1) under visible light irradiation,which is about 7 times higher than that of the pristine ZIS.First-principle calculations support that doping of oxygen in the lattice of ZnIn_(2)S_(4) nanosheets plays a key role in tuning its electronic properties.The remarkable photocatalytic performance of O-ZIS can be assigned to a synergistic consequence of a unique ultrathin-layered structure and an upward shift of the conduction band minimum(CBM) caused by the oxygen doping into ZIS and the quantum confinement effect(QCE) induced by the decreased particle size after doping as well as to the improved charge separation efficiency.The present work offers a simple elemental doping method to promote charge separation at atomic level and illustrates the roles played by oxygen doping in photocatalysis,giving new insights into highly efficient artificial photosynthesis. | Bao Pan Yu Wu Baker Rhimi Jiani Qin Ying Huang Mingzhe Yuan Chuanyi Wang | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,6: | 3 |
| 14 | Thyroxine treatment for elderly patients with heart failure and sick euthyroid syndrome显示文摘Objectives To evaluate the effect of thyroid hormone therapy with low dose of thyroxin on cardiac function in elderly patients with heart failure and sick euthyroid syndrome. Methods Forty-seven patients (33 males and 14 females, mean age 85.9+4.6 years,ranging from 80 to 99 years) with chronic heart failure (NYHA Ⅱ-Ⅳ) and low triiodothyronine (T3) state were randomly allocated to the treatment group or control group. The treatment group patients received oral administration of levothyroxine sodium (Euthyrox) 25-50mg/d in addition to conventional therapy of heart failure, whereas patients in control group were given conventional therapy only. Serum level of total T3 (TT3), free T3 (FT3), total thyroxine (TT4), free thyroxine (FT4), and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) were determined. For both groups, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and stroke volume (SV) were assessed by two-dimensional echocardiography before and at 8 weeks after treatment. The changes of these parameters after the treatment were evaluated by adjusting heart rate in the two groups. Results The reduced serum T3 level in the treatment group was corrected after thyroid hormone therapy,and these patients had a significant improvement in cardiac function after treatment. By contrast, in the control group only changes of serum TT3 and TT4 levels and SV and LVEF after treatment were statistically significant. The heart rate-adjusted mean SV and LVEF in both groups were also increased, which was significantly greater in the treatment group than in the control group. | 17 | Preparation and Anti-ultraviolet Aging Performance of Organic Layered Double Hydroxides/Bitumen Composites显示文摘Layered double hydroxides(LDHs) with the physical property of high ultraviolet(UV)reflectance were used to enhance the anti-UV aging performance of bitumen. In view of the poor compatibility of LDHs with bitumen, three organic anions, namely, sodium dodecyl benzenesulfonate(SDBS), sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS) and sodium dodecyl sulfonate(SDSO), were used as modifiers to prepare organic LDHs(OCLDHs) through regeneration process, and the crystal structure, chemical composition, morphological feature and UV shielding capability of synthesized OCLDHs were analyzed. Then the OCLDHs were added into bitumen to evaluate the storage stability and anti-UV aging property of OCLDHs/bitumen composites.The results show that the organic anions are inserted into the interlayers of LDHs, the intercalation expands the interlayer distance of LDHs, makes the particle shapes become more irregular and complicated, and enhances the absorption ability within the range from 200 to 300 nm while has little influence on the UV reflection ability.Result of high temperature storage stability indicates the organic modification ameliorates the compatibility of LDHs with bitumen. Compared with LDHs, OCLDHs decrease the deteriorations of bitumen’s properties during UV exposure test, exhibiting better effect in enhancing anti-UV aging performance of bitumen.
