1Relationship between stomatal density and the changes of atmospheric CO_2 concentrations显示文摘The relationship between the stomatal density of five woody plants endemic to China, i.e. Eucommia ulmoides, Quercus liaotungensis, Q. glandulifera var. brevipetiolata, Cyclocarya paliurus and Ficus heteromorpha, and the atmospheric CO-2 concentrations was studied by observations on leaves of the herbarium-stored specimens(1920s-1990s). 18Identification of atypical T4SS effector proteins mediating bacterial defense显示文摘To remain competitive,proteobacteria use various contact-dependent weapon systems to defend against microbial com-petitors.The bacterial-killing type IV secretion system(T4SS)is one such powerful weapon.It commonly controls the killing/competition between species by secreting the lethal T4SS effector(T4E)proteins carrying conserved XVIPCD domains into competing cells.In this study,we sought knowledge to understand whether the bacterial-killing T4SS-producing bacteria encode T4E-like proteins and further explore their biological functions.To achieve this,we designed a T4E-guided approach to discover T4E-like proteins that are designated as atypical T4Es.Initially,this approach required scientists to perform simple BlastP search to identify T4E homologs that lack the XVIPCD domain in the genomes of T4SS-producing bacteria.These homologous genes were then screened in Escherichia coli to identify antibacterial candidates(atypical T4Es)and their neighboring detoxification proteins,followed by testing their gene cotranscription and validating their physical interactions.Using this approach,we did discover two atypical T4E proteins from the plant-beneficial Lysobacter enzymogenes and the phytopathogen Xanthomonas citri.We also provided substantial evidence to show that the atypical T4E protein Le1637-mediated bacterial defense in interspecies interactions between L.enzymogenes and its competitors.Therefore,the newly designed T4E-guided approach holds promise for detecting functional atypical T4E proteins in bacterial cells.Xi Shen Zixiang Yang Zihan Li Dan Xiong Jinxing Liao Weimei He Danyu Shen Xiaolong Shao Ben Niu Yongxing He Yong-Gui Gao Guoliang Qian 2023mLife2023,2,3:0
19Intelligent fire information system based on 3D GIS显示文摘Background This work aims to build a comprehensive and effective fire emergency management system based on the Internet of Things(IoT)and achieve an actual intelligent fire rescue.A smart fire protection information system was designed based on the IoT.A detailed analysis was conducted on the problem of rescue vehicle scheduling and the evacuation of trapped persons in the process of fire rescue.Methods The intelligent fire visualization platform based on the three-dimensional(3D)Geographic Information Science(GIS)covers project overview,equipment status,equipment classification,equipment alarm information,alarm classification,alarm statistics,equipment account information,and other modules.The live video accessed through the visual interface can clearly identify the stage of the fire,which facilitates the arrangement of rescue equipment and personnel.The vehicle scheduling model in the system primarily used two objective functions to solve the Pareto Non-Dominated Solution Set Optimization:emergency rescue time and the number of vehicles.In addition,an evacuation path optimization method based on the Improved Ant Colony(IAC)algorithm was designed to realize the dynamic optimization of building fire evacuation paths.Results The experimental results indicate that all the values of detection signals were significantly larger in the smoldering fire scene at t=17s than the initial value.In addition,the probability of smoldering fire and the probability of open fire were relatively large according to the probability function of the corresponding fire situation,demonstrating that this model could detect fire.Conclusions The IAC algorithm reported here avoided the passages near the fire and spreading areas as much as possible and took the safety of the trapped persons as the premise when planning the evacuation route.Therefore,the IoT-based fire information system has important value for ensuring fire safety and carrying out emergency rescue and is worthy of popularization and application.Jinxing HU Zhihan LV Diping YUAN Bing HE Dongmei YAN 2023Virtual Reality & Intelligent Hardware2023,5,2:0
20Sawtooth and dune auroras simultaneously driven by waves around the plasmapause显示文摘The dune aurora,at a scale of~30 kilometers,was reported recently using ground camera.The small-scale dune aurora occurs on the duskside and exhibits a monochromatic oscillation in the auroral emission,implying fundamental energy conversions.However,whether the dune auroras correspond to atmospheric waves or are associated with magnetospheric dynamics should be determined.This paper reports a dune aurora that occurred during a storm;further,we demonstrate that it was the substructure of the sawtooth aurora that was generated by plasmapause surface waves.Conjugate observations in the magnetospheric source region suggest that the exohiss waves,which are periodically modulated by the plasmapause surface wave-excited ultralow frequency wave,might be responsible for the generation of the dune aurora.Most reported dune aurora events have occurred simultaneously with sawtooth auroras,suggesting that both are plasmapause-driven cross-scale auroral structures.Fei He ZhongHua Yao BinBin Ni Xing Cao ShengYi Ye RuiLong Guo JinXing Li ZhiPeng Ren XinAn Yue YongLiang Zhang Yong Wei XiaoXin Zhang ZuYin Pu 2023Earth and Planetary Physics2023,7,2:0
