2Effect of wastewater COD/N ratio on aerobic nitrifying sludge granulation and microbial population shift显示文摘The effect of COD/N ratio on the granulation process and microbial population succession was investigated.Four identical sequencing batch reactors,R1,R2,R3 and R4,were operated with various initial COD/N ratios ranging from 0/200 to 800/200(m/m).Ethanol was fed as the source of COD.Aerobic granules were successfully cultivated in R2 and R3,operating with the COD/N ratio of 200/200 and 400/200,respectively.Scanning electron microscope observations indicated that short rod-shaped and spherical bacteria were dominant in R2,while granules produced in R3 were surrounded with a large amount of filamentous bacteria.The average specific nitritation rate in R2 and R3 were 0.019 and 0.008 mg N/(mg MLVSS.hr),respectively.Fluorescence in situ hybridization results demonstrated that nitrifying bacteria population was enriched remarkably in R2.It indicated that nitrification ability and nitrifying bacteria population were enriched remarkably at low COD/N ratio.However,no granules were formed in R1 and R4 which might attribute to either limited or excessive extracellular polymeric substances production.This study contributed to a better understanding of the role of COD/N ratio in nitrifying sludge granulation.Lei Wu Chengyao Peng Yongzhen Peng Lingyun Li Shuying Wang Yong Ma 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,2:29
3Polysaccharides from Angelica sinensis alleviate neuronal cell injury caused by oxidative stress显示文摘Angelica sinensis has antioxidative and neuroprotective effects. In the present study, we aimed to determine the neuroprotective effect of polysaccharides isolated from Angelica sinensis. In a preliminary experiment, Angelica sinensis polysaccharides not only protected PC12 neuronal cells from H 2 O 2-induced cytotoxicity, but also reduced apoptosis and intracellular reactive oxygen species levels, and increased the mitochondrial membrane potential induced by H 2 O 2 treatment. In a rat model of local cerebral ischemia, we further demonstrated that Angelica sinensis polysaccharides enhanced the antioxidant activity in cerebral cortical neurons, increased the number of microvessels, and improved blood flow after ischemia. 4Clinical characteristics and effectiveness of antiviral agents in hospitalized children with infectious mononucleosis in China:A multicenter retrospective study显示文摘Importance:The clinical characteristics of infectious mononucleosis(IM)in Chinese children have not been evaluated in multicenter studies,and the effectiveness of antiviral treatment are controversial.Objective:To investigate the clinical characteristics of Chinese children with IM and current status of antiviral therapy for affected patients.Methods:Hospitalized patients with IM were enrolled between 2018 and 2020 in five children’s hospitals in China.The clinical characteristics were compared among four age groups:<3 years,3-<6 years,6-<10 years,and≥10 years.The clinical characteristics of IM and effectiveness of antiviral therapy were compared among patients receiving acyclovir(ACV),ganciclovir(GCV),and no antiviral therapy(i.e.,non-antiviral group).Results:In total,499 patients were analyzed;most patients were 3-<6 years of age.The most common symptoms and signs included fever(100%),lymphadenopathy(98.6%),pharyngitis(86.4%),eyelid edema(76.8%),and snoring(72.9%).There were significant differences in rash,hepatomegaly,and liver dysfunction among the four age groups.Patients aged<3 years had a lower incidence of liver dysfunction and a higher incidence of rash.Among the 499 patients,50.1%were treated with GCV,26.3%were treated with ACV,and 23.6%received no antiviral therapy.Compared with the non-antiviral group,patients in the ACV and GCV groups had longer durations of fever(P<0.001).There were no significant differences in the incidences of complications among the three treatment groups.Interpretation:The incidence of IM in Chinese children peaked at 3-<6 years of age.Clinical features of IM varied according to age.Patients receiving antiviral therapy exhibited more serious clinical manifestations than did patients without antiviral therapy.The effectiveness of antiviral therapy for IM requires further analysis.Huili Hu Huiling Deng Jing Bi Yi Xu Shuangjie Li Yue Xie Xinrong Sun Dongmeng Wang Xufang Li Wenxian Ouyang Bing Hu Yufeng Zhang He Tang Chunxiao Fang Hui Zhang Lingyun Guo Chen Wang Tianyi Wang Fengxia Yang Tao Jiang Zhengde Xie Gang Liu 2021Pediatric Investigation2021,5,3:12
5Degradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by Pseudomonas sp.JM2 isolated from active sewage sludge of chemical plant显示文摘It is important to screen strains that can decompose polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)completely and rapidly with good adaptability for bioremediation in a local area.A bacterial strain JM2,which uses phenanthrene as its sole carbon source,was isolated from the active sewage sludge from a chemical plant in Jilin,China and identified as Pseudomonas based on 16S rDNA gene sequence analysis.Although the optimal growth conditions were determined to be pH6.0 and 37°C,JM2 showed a broad pH and temperature profile.At pH4.5 and 9.3,JM2 could degrade more than 40% of fluorene and phenanthrene(50 mg/L each) within 4days.In addition,when the temperature was as low as 4°C,JM2 could degrade up to 24% fluorene and 12% phenanthrene.This showed the potential for JM2 to be applied in bioremediation over winter or in cold regions.Moreover,a nutrient augmentation study showed that adding formate into media could promote PAH degradation,while the supplement of salicylate had an inhibitive effect.Furthermore,in a metabolic pathway study,salicylate,phthalic acid,and 9-fluorenone were detected during the degradation of fluorene or phenanthrene.In conclusion,Pseudomonas sp.JM2 is a high performance strain in the degradation of fluorene and phenanthrene under extreme pH and temperature conditions.It might be useful in the bioremediation of PAHs.Jing Ma Li Xu Lingyun Jia 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,12:11

8Functional analysis of the ABA-responsive protein family in ABA and stress signal transduction in Arabidopsis显示文摘The phytohormone abscisic acid(ABA)plays an important role in plant growth and development,for example in seed dormancy and germination,as well as in plant responses to environmental stresses,such as drought and high salinity.Previous studies have shown that ABA regulates the expression of genes with an ABA-responsive element(ABRE)and their corresponding physiological responses.Bioinformatics analysis identified a GRAM domain-containing gene family that has a multiple ABRE cis-element,which was termed the ABA-responsive protein(ABR)family.To analyze the function of the ABR family,we identified homozygous T-DNA insertion mutants and constructed abr1,2,3 double mutants and triple mutant.The abr1,abr2 and abr3single mutants showed a normal phenotype;however,the germination of seeds of the double mutants and triple mutant were insensitive to ABA,NaCl,mannitol and glucose.ABR1-GFP was distributed as a punctate structure in the cytosol and may be localized in the endomembrane system.The ABR2-GFP and ABR3-GFP proteins localized in the cytoplasm.In addition,ABR1,ABR2 and ABR3 were expressed in various tissues,and could be induced by several abiotic stresses,especially by ABA.The expressions of these genes were significantly suppressed in aba2,abi1 and abi2 null mutants.These results suggested that the ABR family may act downstream of ABI1 and ABI2 in the ABA signal transduction process in plants.LIU LingYun LI Na YAO ChunPeng MENG SaSa SONG ChunPeng 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,31:7

11Effect of nanoheat stimulation mediated by magnetic nanocomposite hydrogel on the osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells显示文摘Hyperthermia has been considered as a promising healing treatment in bone regeneration. We designed a tissue engineering hydrogel based on magnetic nanoparticles to explore the characteristics of hyperthermia for osteogenic regeneration. This nanocomposite hydrogel was successfully fabricated by incorporating magnetic Fe_3O_4 nanoparticles into chitosan/polyethylene glycol(PEG) hydrogel, which showed excellent biocompatibility and were able to easily achieve increasing temperatures under an alternative magnetic field(AMF). With uniformly dispersed nanoparticles, the composite hydrogel resulted in high viability of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs), and the elevated temperature contributed to the highest osteogenic differentiation ability compared with direct heat treatment applied under equal temperatures. 12Effects of artificially induced complete mixing on dissolved organic matter in a stratified source water reservoir显示文摘Naturally complete mixing promotes the spontaneous redistribution of dissolved oxygen(DO),representing an ideal state for maintaining good water quality,and conducive to the biomineralization of organic matter.Water lifting aerators(WLAs)can extend the periods of complete mixing and increase the initial mixing temperature.To evaluate the influence of artificial-induced continuously mixing on dissolved organic matter(DOM)removal performance,the variations of DOM concentrations,optical characteristic,environmental factors were studied after approaching the total mixing status via WLAs operation.During this process,the dissolved organic carbon reduced by 39.18%,whereas the permanganate index decreased by 20.47%.The optical properties indicate that the DOM became more endogenous and its molecular weight decreased.Based on the results of the Biolog Eco Plates,the microorganisms were maintained at a relatively high metabolic activity in the early stage of induced mixing when the mixing temperature was relatively high,whereas DOM declined at a high rate.With the continuous decrease in the water temperature,both the metabolic capacity and the diversity of aerobic microorganisms significantly decreased,and the rate of organic matter mineralization slowed down.The results of this study demonstrate that the artificial induced mixing largely enhanced the removal DOM performance by providing a long period of aerobic conditions and higher initial temperature.Lingyun Zhao Nan Li Tinglin Huang Haihan Zhang Fan Si Kai Li Yunzhi Qi Fengyao Hua Cheng Huang 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,1:5
13Neural Mechanisms of Mental Fatigue Revisited: New Insights from the Brain Connectome显示文摘Maintaining sustained attention during a prolonged cognitive task often comes at a cost: high levels of mental fatigue. Heuristically, mental fatigue refers to a feeling of tiredness or exhaustion, and a disengagement from the task at hand;it manifests as impaired cognitive and behavioral performance. In order to effectively reduce the undesirable yet preventable consequences of mental fatigue in many real-world workspaces, a better understanding of the underlying neural mechanisms is needed, and continuous efforts have been devoted to this topic. In comparison with conventional univariate approaches, which are widely utilized in fatigue studies, convergent evidence has shown that multivariate functional connectivity analysis may lead to richer information about mental fatigue. In fact, mental fatigue is increasingly thought to be related to the deviated reorganization of functional connectivity among brain regions in recent studies. In addition, graph theoretical analysis has shed new light on quantitatively assessing the reorganization of the brain functional networks that are modulated by mental fatigue. This review article begins with a brief introduction to neuroimaging studies on mental fatigue and the brain connectome, followed by a thorough overview of connectome studies on mental fatigue. 16Controlling the size of fragrance microcapsules using designed agitator paddles: Experiment and CFD simulation显示文摘Controlling the size of fragranee microcapsules using designed agitator paddles was investigated and studied by CFD simulation. First, different fluid flows were established by varying stirring speeds, reactor scales, and agitator paddle design, and the effects of each on particle size and distribution of prepared microcapsules were determined. The experimental results showed that the pattern design of orifices in the plate paddles control the flow field well. Narrow particle-size distributio ns of the microcapsules were obtained. The fluid flow characteristics including fluid velocity field, turbulent kinetic energy field, and shear stress distribution for thedifferent agitator paddle types in different reaction kettles were simulated using CFD tech no logy. The correlations between simulated data and experime ntal results were an alyzed. 17Reversible Natural Language Watermarking Using Synonym Substitution and Arithmetic Coding显示文摘For protecting the copyright of a text and recovering its original content harmlessly,this paper proposes a novel reversible natural language watermarking method that combines arithmetic coding and synonym substitution operations.By analyzing relative frequencies of synonymous words,synonyms employed for carrying payload are quantized into an unbalanced and redundant binary sequence.The quantized binary sequence is compressed by adaptive binary arithmetic coding losslessly to provide a spare for accommodating additional data.Then,the compressed data appended with the watermark are embedded into the cover text via synonym substitutions in an invertible manner.On the receiver side,the watermark and compressed data can be extracted by decoding the values of synonyms in the watermarked text,as a result of which the original context can be perfectly recovered by decompressing the extracted compressed data and substituting the replaced synonyms with their original synonyms.Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can extract the watermark successfully and achieve a lossless recovery of the original text.Additionally,it achieves a high embedding capacity.Lingyun Xiang Yan Li Wei Hao Peng Yang Xiaobo Shen 2018Computers, Materials & Continua2018,,6:3
18TiO_2-doped Fe_3O_4 nanoparticles as high-performance Fenton-like catalyst for dye decoloration显示文摘Fenton reaction based on Fe2+-H2O2 system has been widely applied in water remediation, but the obvious drawbacks largely hinder its practical uses. Alternatively, heterogeneous nanomaterials with proper surface modification could be used as Fenton-like catalysts. Surface doping of Ti O2 could concentrate the pollutants surrounding the Fe3O4 catalyst, which might benefit the catalytic performance of Fe3O4. Herein, we reported that Ti O2-doped Fe3O4 nanoparticles(NPs) could be used as high-performance Fenton-like catalyst for dye decoloration in near neutral environment, where the doping of Ti O2 on Fe3O4 surface dramatically improved the catalytic activity of Fe3O4 in Fenton-like reaction. Ti O2-doped Fe3O4 NPs catalyzed the decomposition of H2O2 to oxidize methylene blue without external energy supply, resulting in effective decoloration. Ti O2-doped Fe3O4 NPs showed high catalytic activity under various p H values and even in the presence of radical scavenger. More catalysts and H2O2 would facilitate the decoloration. At higher temperature, the decoloration became faster and more effective. 20Modeling of microstructure evolution of AZ80 magnesium alloy during hot working process using a unified internal state variable method显示文摘In this paper, a unified internal state variable(ISV) model for predicting microstructure evolution during hot working process of AZ80 magnesium alloy was developed. A novel aspect of the proposed model is that the interactive effects of material hardening, recovery and dynamic recrystallization(DRX) on the characteristic deformation behavior were considered by incorporating the evolution laws of viscoplastic flow, dislocation activities, DRX nucleation and boundary migration in a coupled manner. The model parameters were calibrated based on the experimental data analysis and genetic algorithm(GA) based objective optimization. The predicted flow stress, DRX fraction and average grain size match well with experimental results. The proposed model was embedded in the finite element(FE) software DEFORM-3 D via user defined subroutine to simulate the hot compression and equal channel angular extrusion(ECAE) processes.
