| 1 | Tectonic dynamics and correlation of major earthquake sequences of the Xiaojiang and Qujiang-Shiping fault systems, Yunnan, China显示文摘The N-S trending Xiaojiang fault zone and the NW-SE trending Qujiang-Shiping fault zone are adjacent active fault systems and seismogenic zones associated with strong and major earthquakes in Yunnan, China. To understand the interaction of the two fault systems, and its probable influence on earthquake occurrences, this paper conducts a synthetic study based on data of active tectonics, historical earthquakes, relocated small earthquakes, GPS station velocities and focal mechanism resolutions. The study makes several conclusions. (1) The active southward motion of the western side of the Xiaojiang fault zone (i.e. the side of the Sichuan-Yunnan block) has a persistent and intensive effect on the Qujiang-Shiping fault zone. The later fault zone has absorbed and transformed the southward motion of the western side of the former fault zone through dextral strike-slip/shearing as well as transverse shortening/thrusting. (2) Along the Xiaojiang fault zone, the present sinistral strike-slip/shearing rate decreases from 10 and 8 mm/a on the northern, central and central-southern segments to 4 mm/a on the southern segment. The decreased rate has been adjusted in the area along and surrounding the Qujiang-Shiping fault zone through reverse-dextral faulting and distributed shearing and shortening. (3) The tectonic-dynamic relation between the Xiaojiang fault zone and the Qujiang-Shiping fault zone is also manifested by a close correlation of earthquake occurrences on the two fault zones. From 1500 to 1850 a sequence of strong and major earthquakes occurred along the Xiaojiang fault zone and its northern neighbor, the Zemuhe fault zone, which was characterized by gradually accelerating strain release, gradually shortening intervals between M≥7 events, and major releases occurring in the mid to later stages of the sequence. As a response to this sequence, after an 88-year delay, another sequence of 383 years (from 1588 to 1970) of strong and major earthquakes occurred on the Qujiang-Shiping fault zone, and had the same features in accelerating strain release and its temporal course. | 3 | A kinetic study of the reaction of ozone with ethylene in a smog chamber under atmospheric conditions显示文摘Ozone is one of the key species in the processes of atmospheric chemistry, which can be taken as an indicator of oxidation capacity in the troposphere. The reaction of ozone with reactive gases is an important process in the troposphere. Experimental simulation equipment of smog chamber for atmospheric reactions is used to study the reaction of ozone with ethylene in real atmospheric environment with ozone concentrations of 100―200 ppb. The concentrations of ozone and ethylene were moni-tored during the reaction with the combination of Model 49C-O_3 Analyzer and GC-FID. A rate constant of 1.01×10^(-18) (cm^3·mol^(-1)·s-(~1)) was obtained at 286.5 K, under condition of which the half-life of ozone was 88 min. The results obtained from our experiments are in excellent agreement with those reported previously by other researchers under extremely low pressure in terms of matrixisolation technology. | 5 | The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. | 8 | Differential Characteristics of the Upper Ordovician-Lower Silurian Wufeng-Longmaxi Shale Reservoir and its Implications for Exploration and Development of Shale Gas in/around the Sichuan Basin显示文摘The Upper Ordovician Wufeng-Lower Silurian Longmaxi shale is widely distributed in the Sichuan Basin and its periphery,which is the key stratum for marine shale gas exploration and development(E&D)in China.Based on sedimentary environment,material basis,storage space,fracability and reservoir evolution data,the reservoir characteristics of the Wufeng-Longmaxi shale and their significance for shale gas E&D are systematically compared and analyzed in this paper.The results show that(1)the depocenter of the Wufeng(WF)-Longmaxi(LM)shale gradually migrates from east to west.The high-quality shale reservoirs in the eastern Sichuan Basin are mainly siliceous shales,which are primarily distributed in the graptolite shale interval of WF2-LM5.The high-quality reservoirs in the southern Sichuan Basin are mainly calcareous-siliceous and organic-rich argillaceous shales,which are distributed in the graptolite shale interval of WF2-LM7.(2)Deep shale gas(the burial depth>3500 m)in the Sichuan Basin has high-ultrahigh pressure and superior physical properties.The organic-rich siliceous,calcareous-siliceous and organic-rich argillaceous shales have suitable reservoir properties.The marginal area of the Sichuan Basin has a higher degree of pressure relief,which leads to the argillaceous and silty shales evolving into direct cap rocks with poor reservoir/good sealing capacity.(3)Combining shale gas exploration practices and impacts of lithofacies,depth,pressure coefficient and brittle-ductile transition on the reservoir properties,it is concluded that the favorable depth interval of the Wufeng-Longmaxi shale gas is 2200~4000 m under current technical conditions.(4)Aiming at the differential reservoir properties of the Wufeng-Longmaxi shale in the Sichuan Basin and its periphery,several suggestions for future research directions and E&D of shale gas are formulated. | WANG Ruyue HU Zongquan LONG Shengxiang LIU Guangxiang ZHAO Jianhua DONG Li DU Wei WANG Pengwei YIN Shuai | 2019 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2019,93,3: | 8 |
| 9 | N-doped carbon-stabilized PtCo nanoparticles derived from Pt@ZIF-67: Highly active and durable catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction显示文摘The development of catalysts with high activity and durability for the cathodicoxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in both alkaline and acidic media is importantfor improving the performance of the proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuelcells. This can be achieved by dispersing Pt-based alloy nanoparticles insideN-doped porous carbon frameworks. However, it still requires the developmentof a facile method towards synthesizing this unique hybrid structure. In this work,we demonstrate that N-doped carbon-stabilized PtCo nanoparticles (PtCo@NC)can be facilely synthesized via thermal decomposition of Pt-incorporatedCo-based zeolitic imidazolate framework (Pt@ZIF-67). The thickness of the carbonframework can be optimized to enable excellent durability, in sharp contrastto a commercial Pt/C catalyst. The mass activities achieved by optimizing thethickness of the carbon framework are 0.80 and 0.82 A-mg^-1, at 0.9 V vs. RHE inalkaline and acidic electrolytes, respectively, which are nearly 8 times greaterthan those of the Pt/C. | 11 | Smog chamber studies of ozone formation potentials for isopentane显示文摘The incremental reactivity and ozone formation potential of isopentane have been studied with chamber experiments and computer simulations. The chemical mechanism used in the computer simulations is an isopentane sub-mechanism from the Master Chemical Mechanism (MCM). The results from the chamber experiments suggest that the MCM can well simulate i-C5H12-NOx chamber experiments. The heterogeneous reaction of NO2 and water is an important source for OH radicals in the chamber experiments. The photolysis of HONO is responsible for the initiation of isopentane in photochemical reactions. The reaction rate constant for NO2 → HONO was determined to be 3.9×10-4―5.9×10-3 min-1 by conducting 3 sets of CO-NOx-air irradiations. 5 sets of isopentane-NOx irradiations under different conditions were performed in our chamber. Compared with the experiment with a low relative humidity (RH), an increase in RH can increase the reaction rate of NO2 with H2O, so that the peak ozone occurs earlier. | 12 | microRNA-218 suppresses the proliferation, invasion and promotes apoptosis of pancreatic cancer cells by targeting HMGB1显示文摘Objective: To detect the expression profiles of micro RNA-218(mi R-218) in human pancreatic cancer tissue(PCT) and cells and their effects on the biological features of human pancreatic cancer cell line PANC-1 and observe the effect of mi R-218 on the expression of the target gene high mobility group box 1(HMGB1), with an attempt to provide new treatment methods and strategies for pancreatic cancer.Methods: The expressions of mi R-218 in PCT and normal pancreas tissue as well as in various pancreatic cancer cell lines including As PC-1, Bx PC-3, and PANC-1 were determined with quantitative real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(q RT-PCR). The change of mi R-218 expression in PANC-1 cells was detected using qR T-PCT after the transfection of miR-218 mimic for 48 h. Cell Counting Kit-8(CCK-8) was applied for detecting the effect of mi R-218 on the activity of PANC-1 cells. The effects of mi R-218 on the proliferation and apoptosis of PANC-1 cells were analyzed using the flow cytometry. The effect of mi R-218 on the migration of PANC-1 cells was detected using the Trans-well migration assay. The HMGB1 was found to be a target gene of mi R-218 by luciferase reporter assay, and the effect of mi R-218 on the expression of HMGB1 protein in cells were determined using Western blotting.Results: As shown by q RT-PCR, the expressions of mi R-218 in PCT and in pancreatic cancer cell line significantly decreased when compared with the normal pancreatic tissue(NPT)(P<0.01). Compared with the control group, the miR-218 expression significantly increased in the PANC-1 group after the transfection of mi R-218 mimic for 48 h(P<0.01). Growth curve showed that the cell viability significantly dropped after the overexpression of mi R-218 in the PANC-1 cells for two days(P<0.05). Flow cytometry showed that the S-phase fraction significantly dropped after the overexpression of mi R-218(P<0.01) and the percentage of apoptotic cells significantly increased(P<0.01). As shown by the Trans-well migration assay, the enhanced mi R-218 expression was associated with a significantly lower number of cells that passed through a Transwell chamber(P<0.01). Luciferase reporter assay showed that, compared with the control group, the relative luciferase activity significantly decreased in the mi R-218 mimic group(P<0.01). As shown by the Western blotting, compared with the control group, the HMGB1 protein expression significantly decreased in the PANC-1 group after the transfection of mi R-218 mimic for 48 h(P<0.01).Conclusions: The mi R-218 expression decreases in human PCT and cell lines. mi R-218 can negatively regulate the HMGB1 protein expression and inhibit the proliferation and invasion of pancreatic cancer cells. | 16 | Co-seismic Faults and Geological Hazards and Incidence of Active Fault of Wenchuan Ms 8.0 Earthquake,Sichuan,China显示文摘There are two co-seismic faults which developed when the Wenchuan earthquake happened. One occurred along the active fault zone in the central Longmen Mts.and the other in the front of Longmen Mts.The length of which is more than 270 km and about 80 km respectively.The co-seismic fault shows a reverse flexure belt with strike of N45°-60°E in the ground,which caused uplift at its northwest side and subsidence at the southeast.The fault face dips to the northwest with a dip angle ranging from 50°to 60°.The vertical offset of the co-seismic fault ranges 2.5-3.0 m along the Yingxiu-Beichuan co-seismic fault,and 1.5-1.1 m along the Doujiangyan-Hanwang fault.Movement of the coseismic fault presents obvious segmented features along the active fault zone in central Longmen Mts. | 18 | An improved modeling of precipitation phase and snow in the Lancang River Basin in Southwest China显示文摘Precipitation phase(e.g., rainfall and snowfall) and snow(e.g., snowpack and snowmelt runoff) in high-mountain regions may largely affect runoff generation, which is critical to water supply, hydropower generation, agricultural irrigation, and ecosystems downstream. Accurately modeling precipitation phase and snow is therefore fundamental to developing a better understanding of hydrological processes for high-mountain regions and their lower reaches. The Lancang River(LR, or the Upper Mekong River)in China, among the most important transboundary rivers originating from the Tibetan Plateau, features active dam construction and complex water resources allocation of various stakeholders in Southeast Asian countries under climate change. This study aims to improve precipitation phase and snow modeling for the LR basin with a hydrological model and multisource remotely sensed data. Results show that joint use of the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS) land surface temperature product with high spatial resolution(1 km×1 km) and an air temperature product can more precisely distinguish precipitation phase than air and wet-bulb temperature products in the LR basin. Snowfall and snowmelt were found to be controlled primarily by rainfall and snowfall temperature thresholds in snow modeling. The rainfall and snowfall temperature thresholds derived from the hydrological model through calibration with remotely sensed snowpack at basin scales were considerably lower than those derived from in situ observations. Rainfall and snowfall temperature thresholds derived from in situ observations could lead to the overestimation of snowmelt runoff due mostly to the lack of representation of point-based measurements at basin scales.
