3Chinese herbal medicine reduces mortality in patients with severe and critical coronavirus disease 2019: a retrospective cohort study显示文摘This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine(CHM)in patients with severe/critical coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).In this retrospective study,data were collected from 662 patients with severe/critical COVID-19 who were admitted to a designated hospital to treat patients with severe COVID-19 in Wuhan before March 20,2020.All patients were divided into an exposed group(CHM users)and a control group(non-users).After propensity score matching in a 1:1 ratio,156 CHM users were matched by propensity score to 156 non-users.No significant differences in seven baseline clinical variables were found between the two groups of patients.All-cause mortality was reported in 13 CHM users who died and 36 non-users who died.After multivariate adjustment,the mortality risk of CHM users was reduced by 82.2%(odds ratio 0.178,95%CI 0.076–0.418;P<0.001)compared with the non-users.Secondly,age(odds ratio 1.053,95%CI 1.023–1.084;P<0.001)and the proportion of severe/critical patients(odds ratio 0.063,95%CI 0.028–0.143;P<0.001)were the risk factors of mortality.These results show that the use of CHM may reduce the mortality of patients with severe/critical COVID-19.Guohua Chen Wen Su Jiayao Yang Dan Luo Ping Xia Wen Jia Xiuyang Li Chuan Wang Suping Lang Qingbin Meng Ying Zhang Yuhe Ke An Fan Shuo Yang Yujiao Zheng Xuepeng Fan Jie Qiao Fengmei Lian Li Wei Xiaolin Tong 2020Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,6:10
4The Chinese Hα Solar Explorer(CHASE) mission: An overview显示文摘The Chinese Hα Solar Explorer(CHASE), dubbed “Xihe”—Goddess of the Sun, was launched on October 14, 2021 as the first solar space mission of China National Space Administration(CNSA). The CHASE mission is designed to test a newly developed satellite platform and to acquire the spectroscopic observations in the Hα waveband. The Hα Imaging Spectrograph(HIS)is the scientific payload of the CHASE satellite. It consists of two observational modes: raster scanning mode and continuum imaging mode. The raster scanning mode obtains full-Sun or region-of-interest spectral images from 6559.7 to 6565.9 ? and from 6567.8 to 6570.6 ? with 0.024 ? pixel spectral resolution and 1 min temporal resolution. The continuum imaging mode obtains photospheric images in continuum around 6689 ? with the full width at half maximum of 13.4 ?. The CHASE mission will advance our understanding of the dynamics of solar activity in the photosphere and chromosphere. 7A transcription factor STOP1-centered pathway coordinates ammonium and phosphate acquisition in Arabidopsis显示文摘Phosphorus(P)is an indispensable macronutrient required for plant growth and development.Natural phosphate(Pi)reserves are finite,and a better understanding of Pi utilization by crops is therefore vital for worldwide food security.Ammonium has long been known to enhance Pi acquisition efficiency in agriculture;however,the molecular mechanisms coordinating Pi nutrition and ammonium remains unclear.Here,we reveal that ammonium is a novel initiator that stimulates the accumulation of a key regulatory protein,STOP1,in the nuclei of Arabidopsis root cells under Pi deficiency.We show that Pi deficiency promotes ammonium uptake mediated by AMT1 transporters and causes rapid acidification of the root surface.Rhizosphere acidification-triggered STOP1 accumulation activates the excretion of organic acids,which help to solubilize Pi from insoluble iron or calcium phosphates.Ammonium uptake by AMT1 transporters is downregulated by a CIPK23 protein kinase whose expression is directly modulated by STOP1 when ammonium reaches toxic levels.Taken together,we have identified a STOP1-centered regulatory network that links external ammonium with efficient Pi acquisition from insoluble phosphate sources.These findings provide a framework for developing possible strategies to improve crop production by enhancing the utilization of non-bioavailable nutrients in soil.Wen Hao Tian Jia Yuan Ye Meng Qi Cui Jun Bo Chang Yu Liu GuiXin Li Yun Rong Wu Ji Ming Xu Nicholas P.Harberd Chuan Zao Mao Chong Wei Jin Zhong Jie Ding Shao Jian Zheng 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,9:5
8Influence of(FeO+Ti O_2) abundance on the microwave thermal emissions of lunar regolith显示文摘One of the essential controls on the microwave thermal emissions(MTE) of the lunar regolith is the abundance of Fe O and TiO_2, known as the(Fe O+Ti O_2) abundance(FTA). In this paper, a radiative transfer simulation is employed first to study the change in the brightness temperature(T_B) with FTA under a range of frequencies and surface temperatures. Then, we analyze the influence of FTA on the MTE of the lunar regolith using microwave sounder(CELMS) data from the Chang'E-2 lunar orbiter, Clementine UV-VIS data, and lunar samples recovered from the Apollo and Surveyor projects. We conclude that:(1) FTA strongly influences the MTE of the lunar regolith, but it is not the decisive control, and(2) FTA decreases slightly with depth. 9Optimal Waist Circumference Cut-off values for Identifying Metabolic Risk Factors in Middle-aged and Elderly Subjects in Shandong Province of China显示文摘Objective To study the optimal waist circumference(WC) cut-off values for identifying metabolic risk factors in middle-aged and elderly subjects in Shandong Province of China. Methods A total of 2 873 men and 5 559 women were included in this cross-sectional study. Metabolic syndrome(MetS) was diagnosed according to the definition of Chinese Diabetes Society in 2004. The relation between WC and MetS was analyzed by multivariate logistic regression analysis. The optimal WC cut-off values were identified using the area under the ROC curve and the different diagnostic criteria for central obesity were compared. Results The WC was the risk factor for MetS independent of BMI, blood glucose, blood lipid, and blood pressure. The optimal WC cut-off value was 83.8 cm and 91.1 cm for identifying MetS in women and men, respectively. Compared with 80 cm and 85 cm for women and men, 85 cm and 90 cm had a higher Youden index for identifying all metabolic risk factors and MetS in women and men. 10A Splitting Primal-dual Proximity Algorithm for Solving Composite Optimization Problems显示文摘Our work considers the optimization of the sum of a non-smooth convex function and a finite family of composite convex functions, each one of which is composed of a convex function and a bounded linear operator. This type of problem is associated with many interesting challenges encountered in the image restoration and image reconstruction fields. We developed a splitting primal-dual proximity algorithm to solve this problem. Furthermore, we propose a preconditioned method, of which the iterative parameters are obtained without the need to know some particular operator norm in advance. Theoretical convergence theorems are presented. We then apply the proposed methods to solve a total variation regularization model, in which the L2 data error function is added to the L1 data error function. The main advantageous feature of this model is its capability to combine different loss functions. 11Microstructural evolution of a steam-turbine rotor subjected to a water-quenching process: numerical simulation and experimental verification显示文摘Cr-Ni-Mo-V steam-turbine rotors have been widely used as key components in power plants. In this study, a coupled thermomechano-metallurgical model was proposed to simulate the phase transformation and transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) of a 30Cr2Ni4MoV steam-turbine rotor during a water-quenching process, which was solved using a user defined material mechanical behavior (UMAT) subroutine in ABAQUS. The thermal dilation, heat generation from plastic work, transformation latent heat, phase transformation kinetics, and TRIP were considered in the model. The thermomechanical portion of the model was used to predict the evolution of temperature, strain, and residual stress in the rotor. The phase transformation that occurred during the quenching process was considered. Constitutive models of phase transformations (austenite to pearlite, austenite to bainite, and austenite to martensite) and TRIP were developed. Experimental data were adopted and compared with the predicted results to verify the accuracy of the model. This demonstrates that the model is reliable and accurate. Then, the model was utilized to predict the temperature variation, dimensional change, minimum austenitization time, residual stress, TRIP, and volume fractions of each phase. 12DmpIRFs and DmpST:DAMPE instrument response functions and science tools for gamma-ray data analysis显示文摘Observing GeV gamma-rays is an important goal of the DArk Matter Particle Explorer(DAMPE)for indirect dark matter searching and high energy astrophysics. In this work, we present a set of accurate instrument response functions for DAMPE(DmpIRFs) including the effective area, point-spread function and energy dispersion, which are crucial for gamma-ray data analysis based on statistics from simulation data. A dedicated software named DmpST is developed to facilitate the scientific analyses of DAMPE gamma-ray data. Considering the limited number of photons and angular resolution of DAMPE, the maximum likelihood method is adopted in DmpST to better disentangle different source components. 14An algorithm to resolve γ-rays from charged cosmic rays with DAMPE显示文摘The DArk Matter Particle Explorer(DAMPE),also known as Wukong in China,which was launched on 2015 December 17,is a new high energy cosmic ray and γ-ray satellite-borne observatory.One of the main scientific goals of DAMPE is to observe Ge V-Te V high energy γ-rays with accurate energy,angular and time resolution,to indirectly search for dark matter particles and for the study of high energy astrophysics. Due to the comparatively higher fluxes of charged cosmic rays with respect to γ-rays,it is challenging to identify γ-rays with sufficiently high efficiency,minimizing the amount of charged cosmic ray contamination. In this work we present a method to identify γ-rays in DAMPE data based on Monte Carlo simulations,using the powerful electromagnetic/hadronic shower discrimination provided by the calorimeter and the veto detection of charged particles provided by the plastic scintillation detector. 15The critical role of m^(6)A methylation in the pathogenesis of Graves'ophthalmopathy显示文摘Purpose:To investigate the role of N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A)RNA modification in the pathogenesis of Graves'ophthalmopathy(GO).Methods:Surgically excised extraocular muscles from 7 patients with GO and 5 subjects without GO were used.The global m^(6)A levels in the specimens were determined using an m^(6)A RNA methylation quantification kit.RNA sequencing(RNA-seq)was used to analyze the molecules involved in the regulation of m^(6)A RNA methylation and the differential expression of mRNAs between the two groups(4 eyes,respectively).The expression of m^(6)A RNA modification genes was evaluated by real-time PCR.The functional implications of the gene alterations between the GO and control specimens were determined by Gene Ontology analysis.Results:The m^(6)A level was significantly increased in the specimens of GO patients compared to the control specimens(P<0.05).The expression of m^(6)A methylation regulators,such as WT1 associated protein(WTAP),alkylation repair homolog protein 5(ALKBH5),E74 like ETS transcription factor 3(ELF3),YTH N6-methyladenosine RNA binding protein 2(YTHDF2),YTHDF3 and YTH domain containing 2(YTHDC2),was significantly upregulated(P<0.05).Gene Ontology enrichment analysis showed that the most highly upregulated genes and biological pathways were related to the immune response and inflammatory processes such as lymphocyte activation,leukocyte differentiation,cytokine production and cytokine-mediated signaling pathways.Conclusions:Our results suggest that m^(6)A methylation may play a critical role in the pathogenesis of GO and that targeting genes that regulate m^(6)A methylation may provide a new therapeutic approach for GO.Li Zhu Siyan Li Shikun He Qizhe Tong Lejin Wang Xiaohua Li Xi Wu Qingyu Meng Enzhong Jin Chuan Zhang Tianyuan Li Ningda Xu Lvzhen Huang Yi Wang Mingwei Zhao 2020Eye and Vision2020,7,1:1
16Expression Analyses of ABCDE Model Genes and Changes in Levels of Endogenous Hormones in Chinese Cabbage Exhibiting Petal-Loss显示文摘Abnormal formation of floral organs affects plant reproduction and can directly interfere with the progress of breeding programs. Using PCR amplification, ABCDE model genes BraAP2, BraAP3, BraPI, BraAG, BraSHP, and BraSEP were isolated from Chinese cabbage(Brassica rapa L.ssp. pekinensis). We examined six development stages of floral buds collected from Chinese cabbage and compared between a line demonstrating normal flowering(A-8) and two mutated lines that exhibited plants having petal-loss(A-16 and A-17). The expression of ABCDE model genes has been analyzed by qRT-PCR. Compared with flower buds of petal-loss plants and normal plants, the expression of A-class gene BraAP2 was significantly decreased during the first to fourth stages, C-class gene BraAG expression was significantly decreased during the first to fifth stages,and D-class gene Bra SHP expression was significantly decreased during the first to third stages. Furthermore, B-class gene BraAP3 and BraPI and E-class gene BraSEP expressions were significantly decreased during all six stages of petal-loss plants compared with normal plants. Enzymelinked immunosorbent assays detected nine endogenous phytohormones during all stages examined here. Except for the second-stage and third-stage buds, levels of the auxin IAA and cytokinin dhZR were always higher in the petal-loss plants than the normal plants at corresponding time points. Meanwhile, concentrations of GA_(1+3) at the first, fourth, and fifth stages were higher in the petal-loss plants than in the normal plants. 19Mitochondria-targeting polydopamine-coated nanodrugs for effective photothermal-and chemo-synergistic therapies against lung cancer显示文摘Targetingmitochondria via nano platform emerged as an attractive anti-tumor pathway due to the central regulation role in cellar apoptosis and drug resistance.Here,a mitochondria-targeting nanoparticle(TOS-PDA-PEG-TPP)was designed to precisely deliver polydopamine(PDA)as the photothermal agent and alphatocopherol succinate(α-TOS)as the chemotherapeutic drug to the mitochondria of the tumor cells,which inhibits the tumor growth through chemo-and photothermal-synergistic therapies.TOSPDA-PEG-TPP was constructed by coating PDA on the surface of TOS NPs self-assembled byα-TOS,followed by grafting PEGand triphenylphosphonium(TPP)on their surface to prolong the blood circulation time and target delivery of TOS and PDA to the mitochondria of tumor cells.In vitro studies showed that TOS-PDA-PEGTPP could be efficiently internalized by tumor cells and accumulated atmitochondria,resulting in cellular apoptosis and synergistic inhibition of tumor cell proliferation.In vivo studies demonstrated that TOS-PDA-PEG-TPP could be efficiently localized at tumor sites and significantly restrain the tumor growth under NIR irradiation without apparent toxicity or deleterious effects.Conclusively,the combination strategy adopted for functional nanodrugs construction aimed at target-delivering therapeutic agents with different action mechanisms to the same intracellular organelles can be extended to other nanodrugs-dependent therapeutic systems.Ziyu Meng Binchao Wang Yiqiang Liu Yejian Wan Qianshi Liu Huasheng Xu Renchuan Liang Ying Shi Peng Tu Hong Wu Chuan Xu 2022Regenerative Biomaterials2022,9,1:1
20LLR Processing of Polar Codes in Concatenation Systems显示文摘This paper studies the decoding performance of low-density parity-check(LDPC)codes in a serial concatenation system with polar codes employing the successive cancellation(SC)decoding.It is known that the absolute incorrect log-likelihood ratio(LLR)values from the SC decoding can be very large.This phenomenon dramatically deteriorates the error correcting performance of the outer LDPC codes.In this paper,the LLR values of polar codes are regulated by a log processing before being sent to the LDPC decoder.Simulation results show that the log processing is an efficient approach with a low optimization complexity compared with the existing procedures to improve the performance of the serial concatenation systems.Ya Meng Yi Fang Chuan Zhang Liping Li 2019China Communications2019,16,9:1
