| 2 | Effects of hypoxia on survival,behavior,and metabolism of Zhikong scallop Chlamys farreri Jones et Preston 1904显示文摘Hypoxia,a frequent occurring threat in coastal regions,often results in mass mortalities of marine organisms and brings a serious ecological problem.The commercially important Zhikong scallop Chlamys farreri is being under such a threat as the risks of eutrophication and hypoxia have risen in their culture areas.However,little information has been known concerning their tolerance to hypoxia and their strategy for survival.In the present study,a 20-day experiment was conducted to determine the ef fects of hypoxia on the survival,behavior,and metabolism of Zhikong scallop.With the LC_(50)for dissolved oxygen(DO)being estimated as 1.8 mg/L,the survival of Zhikong scallop can be greatly challenged even under the moderate hypoxic condition of around 2.0 mg/L DO.The survival rate ranged from 69%to 59%when DO dropped from 3.0 to 2.0 mg/L,and it was further reduced to 47%at 1.5 mg/L DO.In hypoxic conditions,the scallops became significantly active,which may be explained as escape attempts to avoid hypoxic water.To save energy,Zhikong scallop would depress their respiration.However,when DO dropped from 3.0 to 2.0 mg/L,the oxygen consumption rate hardly changed.The upregulation of lactate dehydrogenase activity and the unrepressed phosphofructokinase activity,which often result in the unbalanced cellular homeostasis and energy budget,may account for the observed increase in the mortality rate of Zhikong scallops.In general,Zhikong scallop is sensitive to hypoxia events,though possible escape attempts,depressed respiration,and oxaloacetate-pathway may increase their survival chance. | LI Qiao ZHANG Fang WANG Minxiao LI Mengna SUN Song | 2020 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,2: | 5 |

| 5 | A novel gatifloxacin-loaded intraocular lens for prophylaxis of postoperative endophthalmitis显示文摘Postoperative endophthalmitis(POE)has been the most threatening complication after cataract surgery,which perhaps can be solved by the antibiotic-loaded intraocular lens(IOL).However,most drug-loaded IOLs demonstrate insufficient drug quantity,short release time,increased implantation-related difficulties or other noticeable drawbacks.To prevent POE and to address these deficiencies,a drug-loaded copolymer IOL,prepared from poly(urethane acrylate)prepolymer,isobornyl methacrylate(IBOMA),N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone(NVP),Irgacure 819,RUVA-93,and gatifloxacin(GAT),was rapidly fabricated via photocuring and by using a 3D-printed mold.This composite displayed an outstanding and controllable GAT release behavior in vitro,a high light transmittance,and a moderate refractive index.Also,it demonstrated improved strain stress and elongation compared with the reference commercial acrylic IOL material.In vivo tests demonstrated satisfying released drug concentration at the early treatment stage.In vitro and in vivo studies further confirmed the remarkable bacterial inhibition and prevention of POE by the proposed IOL,which also displayed good biocompatibility.These findings suggested that the GAT-loaded IOL could be a promising implant to prevent and cure POE,also the proposed methods could inspire more designs for various medical applications. | Mengna Li Jing-Wei Xu Jiayong Li Wei Wang Chenqi Luo Haijie Han Zhi-Kang Xu Ke Yao | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,2: | 2 |
| 6 | A Method for Alpine Wetland Delineation and Features of Border: Zoigê Plateau, China显示文摘Accurate wetland delineation is the basis of wetland definition and mapping, and is of great importance for wetland management and research. The Zoigê Plateau on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau was used as a research site for research on alpine wetland delineation. Several studies have analyzed the spatiotemporal pattern and dynamics of these alpine wetlands, but none have addressed the issues of wetland boundaries. The objective of this work was to discriminate the upper boundaries of alpine wetlands by coupling ecological methods and satellite observations. The combination of Landsat 8 images and supervised classification was an effective method for rapid identification of alpine wetlands in the Zoigê Plateau. Wet meadow was relatively stable compared with hydric soils and wetland hydrology and could be used as a primary indicator for discriminating the upper boundaries of alpine wetlands. A slope of less than 4.5° could be used as the threshold value for wetland delineation. The normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI) in 434 field sites showed that a threshold value of 0.3 could distinguish grasslands from emergent marsh and wet meadow in September. The median normalized difference water index(NDWI) of emergent marsh remained more stable than that of wet meadow and grasslands during the period from September until July of the following year. The index of mean density in wet meadow zones was higher than the emergent and upland zones. Over twice the number of species occurred in the wet meadow zone compared with the emergent zone, and close to the value of upland zone. Alpine wetlands in the three reserves in 2014 covered 1175.19 km2 with a classification accuracy of 75.6%. The combination of ecological methods and remote sensing technology will play an important role in wetland delineation at medium and small scales. | 11 | A web based tool to merge geometric morphometric data from multiple characters显示文摘Geometric morphometrics(GM) is an important method of shape analysis and increasingly used in a wide range of scientific disciplines.Presently,a single character comparison system of geometric morphometric data is used in almost all empirical studies,and this approach is sufficient for many scientific problems.However,the estimation of overall similarity among taxa or objects based on multiple characters is crucial in a variety of contexts(e.g.(semi-)automated identification,phenetic relationships,tracing of character evolution,phylogenetic reconstruction).Here we propose a new web-based tool for merging several geometric morphometrics data files from multiple characters into a single data file.Using this approach information from multiple characters can be compared in combination and an overall similarity estimate can be obtained in a convenient and geometrically rigorous manner.To illustrate our method,we provide an example analysis of 25 dung beetle species with seven Procrustes superimposed landmark data files representing the morphological variation of body features:the epipharynx,right mandible,pronotum,elytra,hindwing,and the metendosternite in dorsal and lateral view.All seven files were merged into a single one containing information on 649 landmark locations.The possible applications of such merged data files in different fields of science are discussed. | Ming Bai Jing Li Wencheng Wang Rolf G. | 14 | Titanylphthalocyanine as hole transporting material for perovskite solar cells显示文摘Titanylphthalocyanine(TiOPc) as hole transporting material(HTM) was successfully synthesized by a simple process with low cost. Perovskite solar cells using the TiOPc as HTM were fabricated and characterized. TiOPc as HTM plays an important role in increasing the power conversion efficiency(PCE) by minimizing recombination losses at the perovskite/Au interface because TiOPc as HTM can extract photogenerated holes from the perovskite and then transport quickly these charges to the back metal electrode. In the research, the β-TiOPc gives a higher PCE than α-TiOPc for the devices due to sufficient transfer dynamics. The β-TiOPc was applied in perovskite solar cells without dopping to afford an impressive PCE of 5.05% under AM 1.5G illumination at the thickness of 40 nm which is competitive with spiro-OMe TAD at the same condition. | 16 | Key microRNAs and target genes involved in regulating maturation in Lilium显示文摘Lilium is an ornamental bulb with a long juvenile stage,making its cultivation under natural conditions lengthy and costly.SQUAMOSA promoterbinding protein-like(SPL)transcription factors are related to plant growth and development,including phase transition.However,their role in phase transition in Lilium is not known.To explore the molecular mechanisms associated with the phase transition in Lilium,bulbs of Lilium Oriental Trumpet'Robina'were treated with lowered temperature to induce phase transition,and the small RNA and degradome were sequenced.A total of 161 miRNAs were identified as targets.Twenty-nine known miRNAs were differentially expressed,including 16 upregulated miRNAs and 13 down-regulated miRNAs.Lbr-miR156a was significantly down-regulated,and the target genes of Lbr-miR156a were identified as LbrSPL3 and LbrSPL16.Phylogenetic analysis showed that LbrSPL3 and LbrSPL16 had high homology with other plant SPLs.Subcellular localization and transcriptional activation experiments confirmed that LbrSPL3 and LbrSPL16 were mainly located in the nucleus and had transcriptional activity.The in situ hybridization results showed that the expression of LbrSPL3 and LbrSPL16 was increased following low-temperature treatment.Functional verification experiments of Arabidopsis transgenic plants showed that the overexpression of LbrSPL3 and LbrSPL16 could promote plant phase change,while the overexpression of Lbr-miR156a could inhibit this process.These results help elucidate the mechanism of phase transition regulation in Lilium and provide a reference for breeding research in other bulbous flowers. | Yao Chen Mengna Zhao Xiaoshan Wang Jinteng Cui Wei Ge Kezhong Zhang | 2022 | Ornamental Plant Research2022,2,1: | 0 |

| 18 | Microbial reduction and migration of As/Fe mediated by electron shuttle:Differences between incorporated and adsorbed As(V)显示文摘Metal-reducing bacteria play a central and important role in the biogeochemical cycle of arsenic(As)and iron(Fe).Research on As/Fe migration from arsenic-containing iron minerals mediated by electronic shuttles is of significance to groundwater protection and human health.Further,the redox activity and bioavailability of goethite with differing occurrence and distribution of arsenic have not been studied clearly.In this study,the function of electron shuttle AQDS in Fe(III)bioreduction was determined.It was found that acidic conditions were conducive to the growth and reproduction of strain D2201,which was beneficial to the reduction of As(V)/Fe(III).The OD600nm value of the bacteria at pH 6 exceeded twice that at pH 8.Then,three types of goethite,namely pure goethite(Gt),coprecipitated As(V)-goethite(Gt-As),and adsorbed arsenic-goethite(Gt*As),were compared for microbial reduction reactivity.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis illustrated the proportion of OH-content in Gt-As was much lower than that of Gt and Gt*As,indicating Gt-As carried more surface defects and had higher bioavailability.The Fe(II)content released from AQDS-mediated bioreduction of Gt-As was two-fold higher than that of Gt and Gt*As at pH 7.In addition,pH significantly affected goethite bioreduction efficiency and arsenic migration degree.The dissolved Fe(II)concentration for Gt-As was 0.98,0.133,and 0.139 mM at pH 6,7,and 8,respectively;corresponding to dissolved As(T)content of 3.51,1.48,and 1.31μM within 9 days of culture.This study highlights the significant influence of AQDS and mineral structure on the As/Fe biochemical cycle,which will help further develop the bioremediation of arsenic-contaminated sediments. | Jia Wang Zuoming Xie Yanxin Wang Yang Yang Mengna Chen | 2022 | Water Biology and Security2022,1,2: | 0 |
| 19 | Current state and future of co-inhibitory immune checkpoints for the treatment of glioblastoma显示文摘In the interaction between a tumor and the immune system,immune checkpoints play an important role,and in tumor immune escape,co-inhibitory immune checkpoints are important.Immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs)can enhance the immune system's killing effect on tumors.To date,impressive progress has been made in a variety of tumor treatments;PD1/PDL1 and CTLA4 inhibitors have been approved for clinical use in some tumors.However,glioblastoma(GBM)still lacks an effective treatment.Recently,a phase III clinical trial using nivolumab to treat recurrent GBM showed no significant improvement in overall survival compared to bevacizumab.Therefore,the use of immune checkpoints in the treatment of GBM still faces many challenges.First,to clarify the mechanism of action,how different immune checkpoints play roles in tumor escape needs to be determined;which biomarkers predict a benefit from ICIs treatment and the therapeutic implications for GBM based on experiences in other tumors also need to be determined.Second,to optimize combination therapies,how different types of immune checkpoints are selected for combined application and whether combinations with targeted agents or other immunotherapies exhibit increased efficacy need to be addressed.All of these concerns require extensive basic research and clinical trials.In this study,we reviewed existing knowledge with respect to the issues mentioned above and the progress made in treatments,summarized the state of ICIs in preclinical studies and clinical trials involving GBM,and speculated on the therapeutic prospects of ICIs in the treatment of GBM. | Shaoping Shen Ling Chen Jialin Liu Lin Yang Mengna Zhang Lingxiong Wang Rong Zhang Yasushi Uemura Qiyan Wu Xinguang Yu Tianyi Liu | 2020 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2020,17,3: | 0 |
