Numerical determination for optimal location of sub-track asphalt layer in high-speed rails显示文摘Well-graded asphalt mix with the merits of high sound absorption, low water permeability, excellent strength, and easy construction is an important option for high-speed railway substructures. On the basis of finite element method, a model with conventional ballasted trackbed (T0) and four ballasted trackbeds models with different positions of asphalt layer were analyzed, in which 15 cm thick asphalt layer was used to replace the different sub-track layers, the bottom and the top of upper subgrade and of ballasted trackbed, named as T1 , T2 , T3 , and T4 , respectively. The results showed that the range of peak vertical accelerations on the top of subgrade surface of T2 and T4 were smaller than T1 and T3 ; T1 and T2 perform better in decreasing the maximum vertical deformation of subgrade than T3 and T4 ; the maximum transversal tensile strain of T4 is almost twice than the other three. The trackbed bears more stress when the asphalt layer is located at the lower part of railway trackbed. | Mingjing Fang Sergio Fernández Cerdas Yanjun Qiu | 2013 | Journal of Modern Transportation2013,21,2: | 4
Comparative analysis on dynamic behavior of two HMA railway substructures显示文摘A numerical analysis using a finite element program was performed on three structures:hot mix asphalt(HMA) reinforced trackbed(RACS-1),HMA directly supported trackbed(RACS-2),and traditional Portland Cement Concrete(PCC) slab track(SlabTrack).Although the comprehensive dynamic responses of RACS-1 were similar with SlabTrack,HMA layer can positively affect the stress distributions. In particular, the horizontal stresses indicate that the resilience of RACS-1 was improved relative to SlabTrack. In addition,HMA reinforced substructure has the capacity to recover the residual vertical deformation. The effective depth for weakening dynamic loadings is mainly from 0 to 2 m,this being especially true at 0.5 m.The results from the analysis show that HMA is a suitable material for the railway substructure to enhance resilient performance, improve the stress distribution, weaken dynamic loading, and lower the vibration, especially at the effective depth of 2 m.The HMA constructed at the top of the stone subbase layer allows the vertical modulus a smooth transition. In terms of the comprehensive dynamic behaviors,RACS-1 is better than SlabTrack, while the results for RACS-2 are inconclusive and require further research. | Mingjing FANG Yanjun QIU Jerry G. | 3 | Precast system and assembly connection of cement concrete slabs for road pavement: A review显示文摘Prefabricated pavement is increasingly applied worldwide due to the rapid construction on-site.This paper presents a state-of-the-art review of the precast systems and assembly connection of concrete slabs,as well as the precast pavement features. The previous research indicates that:(1)both super-slab and Michigan systems are recommended with the satisfied road performance close to the cast-in-place;(2)flexible base material is suggested for the fabricated pavement for the satisfied leveling and stress distribution;(3)to prevent the voiding phenomenon of the fabricated pavement, the sand cushion course, dry mixed mortar or self-leveling mortar, and other flowable materials could be used for the secondary leveling of the base after the pavement splicing;(4)two-direction dowel bars are recommended for slab connections of the fabricated pavement, which helps to improve the load transfer capacity of the joints and enhance the durability of the fabricated pavement structure;(5)the sealing treatment of precast slab joints needs strengthening to reduce the impact of surface runoff on the base course;(6)the further research focuses are designing with functional, composite, mechanized, intelligent, lightweight, and flexible pavement slabs.Besides, pavement mechanical properties induced by temperature overlapping traffic loads need to be revealed. | Mingjing Fang Ran Zhou Wenhui Ke Bo Tian Yubin Zhang Jianjun Liu | 2022 | Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2022,9,2: | 3
Theoretical analysis on ground vibration attenuation using sub-track asphalt layer in high-speed rails显示文摘Using a finite element method(FEM) program,a Portland cement concrete slab trackbed(So),and a subtrack asphalt roadbed(RAC-S) were modeled under highspeed train loads to analyze their responses to ground vibration attenuation,by considering 10,15,20,25,and 30 thick sub-track asphalt layer replaced on the top of the upper subgrade.FEM results show that the vibration amplitude of RAC-S is at least three times lower than the vibration for S_0.The maximum vibration amplitude of RAC-S is linearly increased with train speed. The vertical acceleration is found to be reduced by more than 10%when the asphalt layer thickness is increased from 10 to20 cm.However, the reduction in vertical acceleration is only about 1%when the thickness of the asphalt layer changes from 20 to 30 cm.The vibration level is slightly lower if the asphalt layer has higher resilient modulus in the seasons of autumn or winter. This theoretical analysis indicates that a railway substructure that consists of a10-20 cm thick high modulus asphalt layer located at the top of trackbed shows a good performance in ground vibration control for high-speed rails. | Mingjing Fang Sergio Fernández Cerdas | 2015 | Journal of Modern Transportation2015,23,3: | 2

Toughness improvement mechanism and evaluation of cement concrete for road pavement:A review显示文摘Traditional cement concrete has the disadvantages of low tensile strength, poor toughness, and rapid development of cracks while cracking, which causes a significantly negative influence on the safety and durability of concrete road pavement. This paper presents a state-of-the-art review of toughness improvement mechanisms and evaluation methods of cement concrete for road pavement. The review indicates that(i)The performance of concrete material depends on its material composition and internal structure.Aggregate size, cement properties and admixtures are the main factors of concrete toughness.(ii)The incorporation of rubber or fiber in pavement concrete improves the toughness of concrete materials. However, these additions must be maintained within a reasonable range. The amount of rubber and fiber are encouraged not more than 30%of the volume of fine aggregate and 2%of the volume of concrete, respectively.(iii)The toughness of pavement concrete material includes the toughness regarding bending, impact and fracture. The toughness of cement concrete for highway and municipal pavement is generally evaluated by bending and fracture toughness, while the toughness of airfield pavement concrete is more focused on impact toughness.(iv)The toughening measures of cement concrete for road pavement are mainly mixed with rubber or fiber, while these two materials have their defects, and the application of hightoughness cement concrete in the actual road still faces many challenges. For example, the synergistic effect of rubber and fiber, the development and application of new flexible admixtures, and the formulation of the toughness index of pavement cement concrete materials need further research. | Mingjing Fang Yiming Chen Yungang Deng Zhe Wang Mengjun Zhu | 2023 | Journal of Road Engineering2023,3,2: | 1
Two chemical mutagens modulate the seed germination, growth, and phenotypic characteristics of Chinese fir(Cunninghamia lanceolata)显示文摘Chinese fir(Cunninghamia lanceolata(Lamb.)Hook),a fast-growing and economically important timber tree species in China,is widely used in construction, furniture, and paper manufacture but has a long breeding cycle.Chemical mutagens, such as ethyl methane sulfonate(EMS)and sodium azide(SA),are widely used in crops such as rice, wheat, cotton, soybean and sugarcane but their utility for tree breeding is unknown. In this study we examined the effects of EMS and S A on Chinese fir seed germination and growth.Chinese fir seeds were treated with the two chemical mutagens;were planted in Jiangle County,Fujian Province,China;and their heights were measured from 2011 to2017.The concentrations and durations of treatment with the two chemical mutagens were significantly associated with the Chinese fir seedling and mortality rates,as well as with the heights of trees from the seedling stage to 3 years old.We also generated 127 mutants with abnormal branches and reproductive growth. We report here the effects of two chemical mutagens on Chinese fir breeding;our data will contribute to knowledge of the utility of EMS and SA in forestry. | Sen Cao Ruiyang Hu Xialei Wu Yuhan Sun Bo Wu Hongjing Duan Huazhong Lin Mingjing Wu Luming Fang Xiaolong Yu Wei Wu Yun Li | 2021 | Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,5: | 0
DEM investigation of weathered rocks using a novel bond contact model显示文摘The distinct element method(DEM) incorporated with a novel bond contact model was applied in this paper to shed light on the microscopic physical origin of macroscopic behaviors of weathered rock, and to achieve the changing laws of microscopic parameters from observed decaying properties of rocks during weathering. The changing laws of macroscopic mechanical properties of typical rocks were summarized based on the existing research achievements. Parametric simulations were then conducted to analyze the relationships between macroscopic and microscopic parameters, and to derive the changing laws of microscopic parameters for the DEM model. Equipped with the microscopic weathering laws, a series of DEM simulations of basic laboratory tests on weathered rock samples was performed in comparison with analytical solutions. The results reveal that the relationships between macroscopic and microscopic parameters of rocks against the weathering period can be successfully attained by parametric simulations. In addition, weathering has a significant impact on both stressestrain relationship and failure pattern of rocks. | Zhenming Shi Tao Jiang Mingjing Jiang Fang Liu Ning Zhang | 2015 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2015,7,3: | 0
Constraints on Dark Energy from the CSST Galaxy Clusters显示文摘We study the potential of the galaxy cluster sample expected from the Chinese Space Station Telescope(CSST)survey to constrain dark energy properties.By modeling the distribution of observed cluster mass for a given true mass to be log-normal and adopting a selection threshold in the observed mass M_(200m)≥0.836×10^(14)h^(-1)M_(⊙),we find about 4.1×10^(5)clusters in the redshift range 0≤z≤1.5 can be detected by the CSST.We construct the Fisher matrix for the cluster number counts from CSST,and forecast constraints on dark energy parameters for models with constant(w_(0)CDM)and time dependent(w_(0)w_(a)CDM)equation of state. In the self-calibration scheme, the dark energy equation of state parameter w_(0)of the w_(0)CDM model can be constrained toΔw_(0)=0.036.If w_(a)is added as a free parameter,we obtainΔw_(0)=0.077 andΔw_(a)=0.39 for the w_(0)w_(a)CDM model, with a Figure of Merit for(w_(0),w_(a))of 68.99.Should we have perfect knowledge of the observable-mass scaling relation('known SR'scheme),we would obtainΔw_(0)=0.012 for the w_(0)CDM model,andΔw_(0)=0.062 andΔw_(a)=0.24 for the w_(0)w_(a)CDM model. The dark energy Figure of Merit of(w_(0),w_(a))increases to 343.25.This indicates again the importance of calibrating the observable-mass scaling relation for optically selected galaxy clusters.By extending the_(max)imum redshift of the clusters from z_(max)~1.5 to Z_(max)~2,the dark energy Figure of Merit for(w_(0),w_(a))increases to 89.72(self-calibration scheme)and 610.97('known SR'scheme),improved by a factor of~1.30 and~1.78,respectively.We find that the impact of clusters’redshift uncertainty on the dark energy constraints is negligible as long as the redshift error of clusters is smaller than 0.01,achievable by CSST.We also find that the bias in logarithm mass must be calibrated to be 0.30 or better to avoid significant dark energy parameter bias. | Yufei Zhang Mingjing Chen Zhonglue Wen Wenjuan Fang | 2023 | Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2023,23,4: | 0
