1Noncontrast-enhanced MRI-based Noninvasive Score for Portal Hypertension(CHESS1802):An International Multicenter Study显示文摘Background and Aims:This study aimed to determine the performance of the non-invasive score using noncontrastenhanced MRI(CHESS-DIS score)for detecting portal hy-pertension in cirrhosis.Methods:In this international multicenter,diagnostic study(ClinicalTrials.gov,NCT03766880),patients with cirrhosis who had hepatic venous pressure gradient(HVPG)measurement and noncontrast-enhanced MRI were prospectively recruited from four university hospitals in China(n=4)and Turkey(n=1)between December 2018 and April 2019.A cohort of patients was retrospectively recruited from a university hospital in Italy between March 2015 and November 2017.After segmentation of the liver on fat-suppressed T1-weighted MRI maps,CHESS-DIS score was calculated automatically by an in-house developed code based on the quantification of liver surface nodularity.Results:A total of 149 patients were included,of which 124 were from four Chinese hospitals(training cohort)and 25 were from two international hospitals(validation cohort).A positive correlation between CHESS-DIS score and HVPG was found with the correlation coefficients of 0.36(p<0.0001)and 0.55(p<0.01)for the training and validation cohorts,respectively.The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of CHESS-DIS score in detection of clinically significant portal hypertension(CSPH)was 0.81 and 0.9 in the training and validation cohorts,respectively.The intra-class correlation coefficients for assessing the inter-and intra-observer agreement were 0.846 and 0.841,respectively.Conclusions:A non-invasive score using noncontrast-enhanced MRI was developed and proved to be significantly correlated with invasive HVPG.Besides,this score could be used to detect CSPH in patients with cirrhosis.Yanna Liu Tianyu Tang NecatiÖrmeci Yifei Huang Jitao Wang Xiaoguo Li Zhiwei Li Weimin An Dengxiang Liu Chunqing Zhang Changchun Liu Jinqiang Liu Chuan Liu Guangchuan Wang Cristina Mosconi Alberta Cappelli Antonio Bruno Seray Akçalar EmrecanÇelebioğlu EvrenÜstüner Sadık Bilgiç Zeynep Ellik ÖzgünÖmer Asiller Lei Li Haijun Zhang Ning Kang Dan Xu Ruiling He Yan Wang Yang Bu Ye Gu Shenghong Ju Rita Golfieri Xiaolong Qi 2021Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2021,9,6:3
2Antioxidant potential,tannin and polyphenol contents of seed and pericarp of three Coffea species显示文摘Objective:To investigate the antioxidant activity,total phenolic and total tannin content of the pericarp and the seed of Coffea benghalensis(C.benghalensis) and Coffea liberica compared to Coffea arabica(C.arabica).Methods:The antioxidant potential,total tannin and polyphenol contents of the immature and mature seed and pericarp of C.benghalensis and Coffea liberica were quantified and compared to C.arabica.Enhanced chemiluminescence(ECL).2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydruzyl(DPPH).oxygen radical absorbance capacity,Folin-Ciocaltcau method and total tannin content assays were used.Results:Trolox equivalent(TE/g plant material) values obtained by ECL and DPPH methods showed loose correlation(r^2=0.587)while those measured by oxygen radical absorbance capacity assay were higher without correlation in each plant.A closer correlation was detected between the ECL method and the percentage antioxidant activity of the DPPH technique(r^2=0.610 7) in each species,however the immature pericarp of C.benghalensis showed much higher DPPH scavenging potential than was seen in the ECL assay.The immature pericarp of C.benghalensis expressed the highest tannin and polyphenol content,and a high polyphenol level was also detected in the immature seed of C.arabica.The immature pericarp of Bengal and Liberian coffees showed the largest amount of phenolic contents.Conclusions:The obtained data highlight the potential role of C.benghalensis as a new source of natural antioxidants and polyphenols compared to C.arabica.va Brigitta Patay Nikolett Sali Tams Kszegi Rita Csepregi Viktória Lilla Blaz Tibor Sebastian Németh Tibor Németh Nóra Papp 2016Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2016,9,4:3
3Molecular mechanisms underlying the neuroprotection of environmental enrichment in Parkinson’s disease显示文摘Parkinson’s disease is the most common movement disorder,affecting about 1%of the population over the age of 60 years.Parkinson’s disease is characterized clinically by resting tremor,bradykinesia,rigidity and postural instability,as a result of the progressive loss of nigrostriatal dopaminergic neurons.In addition to this neuronal cell loss,Parkinson’s disease is characterized by the accumulation of intracellular protein aggregates,Lewy bodies and Lewy neurites,composed primarily of the proteinα-synuclein.Although it was first described almost 200 years ago,there are no disease-modifying drugs to treat patients with Parkinson’s disease.In addition to conventional therapies,non-pharmacological treatment strategies are under investigation in patients and animal models of neurodegenerative disorders.Among such strategies,environmental enrichment,comprising physical exercise,cognitive stimulus,and social interactions,has been assessed in preclinical models of Parkinson’s disease.Environmental enrichment can cause structural and functional changes in the brain and promote neurogenesis and dendritic growth by modifying gene expression,enhancing the expression of neurotrophic factors and modulating neurotransmission.In this review article,we focus on the current knowledge about the molecular mechanisms underlying environmental enrichment neuroprotection in Parkinson’s disease,highlighting its influence on the dopaminergic,cholinergic,glutamatergic and GABAergic systems,as well as the involvement of neurotrophic factors.We describe experimental pre-clinical data showing how environmental enrichment can act as a modulator in a neurochemical and behavioral context in different animal models of Parkinson’s disease,highlighting the potential of environmental enrichment as an additional strategy in the management and prevention of this complex disease.Tamara Andrea Alarcón Sarah Martins Presti-Silva Ana Paula Toniato Simões Fabiola Mara Ribeiro Rita Gomes Wanderley Pires 2023Neural Regeneration Research2023,18,7:2
4The functional complex network approach to foster forest resilience to global changes显示文摘Human impacts on Earth's ecosystems have greatly intensified in the last decades. This is reflected in unexpected disturbance events, as well as new and increasing socio-economic demands, all of which are affecting the resilience of forest ecosystems worldwide and the provision of important ecosystem services. This Anthropocene era is forcing us to reconsider past and current forest management and silvicultural practices, and search for new ones that are more flexible and better at dealing with the increasing uncertainty brought about by these accelerating and cumulative global changes. Here, we briefly review the focus and limitations of past and current forest management and silvicultural practices mainly as developed in Europe and North America. We then discuss some recent promising concepts, such as managing forests as complex adaptive systems, and approaches based on resilience, functional diversity, assisted migration and multi-species plantations, to propose a novel approach to integrate the functionality of species-traits into a functional complex network approach as a flexible and multi-scale way to manage forests for the Anthropocene. This approach takes into consideration the high level of uncertainty associated with future environmental and societal changes. It relies on the quantification and dynamic monitoring of functional diversity and complex network indices to manage forests as a functional complex network.
