3Nest-like multilevel structured graphene oxide-on-polyacrylonitrile membranes for highly efficient filtration of ultrafine particles显示文摘Developing filtration media for particulate matter(PM)removal has been proven to be extremely challenging.Here,we report a facile and scalable strategy to fabricate a multi-level structured polyacrylonitrile/graphene oxide(PAN/GO)air filtration membrane to remove ultrafine particles in air by combining multi-jet electrospinning and physical bonding.Our approach allows the thin PAN nanofibers and two-dimensional GO nanosheets to form interpenetrating bonding structures on non-woven fabric and to assemble into stable filtration media.The resultant composite membranes can filtrate 300 nm particles with a high removal efficiency of 98.8%,a low pressure drop of 55 Pa,and a desirable quality factor of 0.34 Pa^(-1).This multi-level PAN/GO filter is expected to have wider applications not only for the ultrafine particle filtration and separation but also for the design of three-dimensional functional structures in the future.Jing Li Danzhen Zhang Xin Jiang Xuanliang Zhao Ruirui Hu Yujia Zhong Hongwei Zhu 2019Journal of Materiomics2019,5,3:4
4Effect of Gubi prescription on caveolin-1 expression and phosphoinositide 3 kinase/protein kinase B and Fas signal pathways in rats with knee osteoarthritis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of Gubi prescription on the expression of caveolin-1, and the phosphoinositide 3 kinase/protein kinase B(PI3 K/Akt) and Fas signal pathways in rats with knee osteoarthritis(KOA).METHODS: Forty KOA model rats were established using a modification of Hulth's method. Rats were divided into five groups by the random number method: model, positive drug(Vicolli group), and high-, medium-, and low-dose Gubi prescription groups(n = 8/group). In the sham surgery group(n = 8), only anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments of rats were exposed during surgery. A normal group(n = 8) consisted of rats with no treatment. Rats were intragastrically administered corresponding drugs once every day for eight consecutive weeks. Then, rat synovial membranes were extracted and histomorphological changes were recorded. m RNA expression was measured by q-PCR.Serum superoxide dismutase(SOD), malondialdehyde(MDA), nitric oxide(NO), and interleukin 1β(IL-1β) levels were measured. Western blotting determined the effects of Gubi prescription on protein expressions of caveolin-1, Bax, Bcl-2, Fas, and caspase-3 in chondrocytes from KOA rats. The knee cartilage of rats was excised and cultured under aseptic conditions. After coincubation of chondrocytes with Gubi prescription-containing serum, IL-1β, and si RNA, Western blotting was used to determine the protein expressions of caveolin-1, Bax, Bcl-2, Fas, and caspase-3.RESULTS: The morphological score of the articular synovium in the model group was significantly higher than in the normal group(P < 0.01). The morphological score in the high-and mediumdose Gubi prescription groups was lower than in the model group(P < 0.05). Chondrocytes from the decoction-containing serum group had a lower expression of Bax(P < 0.05), and higher expressions of Bcl-2(P < 0.05) and caspase-3(P < 0.05) compared with the model group. Chondrocytes in the decoction-containing serum group had higher expressions of Bax and Bcl-2(P < 0.01) and lower expressions of caveolin-1 and Fas(P < 0.05) compared with the model group. Compared with the model group, Bax and caspase-3 expressions were reduced in the chondrocytes of all three Gubi prescription groups(P < 0.05) whereas Bcl-2 expression was increased(P < 0.05). Compared with the model group, the expressions of caveolin-1 and Fas(P < 0.05) were reduced in groups that received high-and medium-doses of Gubi prescription. 8Effects of stochastic food deprivation on energy budget,body mass and activity in Swiss mice显示文摘When small animals are faced with an unpredictable food supply,they can adapt by altering different components of their energy budget such as energy intake,metabolic rate,rate of non-shivering thermogenesis(NST)or behaviour.The present study examined the effect of stochastic food deprivation(FD)on body mass,food intake,resting metabolic rate(RMR),NST and behaviour in male Swiss mice.During a period of 4 weeks' FD,animals were fed ad libitum for a randomly assigned 4 days each week,but were deprived of food for the other 3 days.The results showed that body mass significantly dropped on FD days compared to controls.Food intake of FD mice increased significantly on ad libitum days,ensuring cumulative food intake,final body mass,fat mass,RMR and NST did not differ significantly from controls.Moreover,gastrointestinal tract mass increased in FD mice,but digestibility decreased.In general,activity was higher on deprived days,and feeding behaviour was higher on ad libitum days suggesting that Swiss mice are able to compensate for stochastic FD primarily by increasing food intake on ad libitum days,and not by reducing energy expenditure related to RMR or NST.Zhijun ZHAO Jing CAO Ye TIAN Ruirui WANG Guiying WANG 2009Current Zoology2009,55,4:1

13Characterization of a novel Bacillus methylotrophicus phage BM-P1显示文摘Bacillus species have been widely used as probiotics in a number of food products.However,these are vulnerable to bacteriophage infections,which poses fermentation failure and eventually result in economic losses.Given this,we designed this study in which the bacteriophage of lysogenic Bacillus methylotrophicus,phage BM-P1,was induced successfully,and its biological characteristics and genome information were researched.The obtained results showed that phage BM-P1 belonged to Myoviridae family.The maximum number of infections for this phage was 10,with a burst size of 104.48±2.70 counts expressed per milliter per infective center.Additionally,this phage was temperature-and pH-sensitive and divalent ions(Ca2+,Mg2+)and chloramphenicol did not have a significant influence on its adsorption capacity.Genomic analysis revealed that the genome size of phage BM-P1 was 153087 bp with 41.94%GC content,including 258 coding sequences.Furthermore,52 bac-teriophages of Bacillus were classified into two clades by using phylogenetic analysis.Among them,phage BM-P1 with phage VB_BsuM-Goe3 and vB_BveM-Goe7 had the highest average nucleotide identity values,95.23%and 95.28%,respectively.However,synteny analysis revealed transposition,deletion,and insertion in the genome of BM-P1.Considering this,it could be extrapolated that this phage is a new lysogenic phage.In conclusion,this study furthers the knowledge on the properties of B.methylotrophicus phages and provides seminal insights for designingeffective antiphage strategiesforfermentation industry.Ruirui Lv Ming Xu She Guo Jingwei Yao Hafiz Arbab Sakandar Jing Guo Can Zhang Xia Chen 2023Food Quality and Safety2023,7,2:0
14Influences of various grazing systems on community biomass of a desert grassland in Inner Mongolia,China显示文摘This study investigated the effects of various grazing systems,including continuous grazing,rotational grazing,and no-grazing systems,on the community biomass in the Stipa breviflora Griseb desert grassland during the grazing seasons in 2005,2006,and 2007,based on study sites established in 1999.We found that the seasonal dynamics of the aboveground biomass were quite similar among the three treatments,which reached peak values in period from August to September during each study year.The continuous grazing system reduced the aboveground biomass from 2005 to 2007 under drought conditions,and the rotational grazing and no-grazing systems maintained more aboveground biomass than the continuous grazing system did.The belowground biomass declined with the increase of soil depth among the three treatments,and in the surface 20-cm soil layer it accounted for more than 60% of the total biomass.The belowground biomass was found to be highly correlated with soil depth under rotational grazing.The total belowground biomass within the 0-100-cm soil layer for rotational grazing was significantly higher than for continuous grazing and no-grazing,and had 15,775 kg/ha more biomass.Our results demonstrate that conservative rotational grazing can alleviate grassland deterioration by reserving more aboveground and belowground biomass than the continuous grazing system does.RuiRui Yan XiaoPing Xin ZhiJun Wei ShiMin Liu Jing Yang GuiXia Yang 2012Research in Cold and Arid Regions2012,4,4:0

16Effects of Combined Stress from Salt and Herbicide on Microbial Remediation of Soil Contaminated by n-Hexadecane and Phenanthrene显示文摘In this study,physicochemical,cluster,and high-throughput sequencing analyses were used to investigate the joint effects of salt and herbicide(glyphosate)stress factors on the microbial remediation of soil contaminated by n-hexadecane and phenanthrene.Based on the soil’s physical and chemical properties,differences in microbial quantity and enzyme activities were analyzed among the samples,and how that influenced distribution of soil community structure was focused upon.After 120 days of indoor simulated remediation,the cumulative degradation rate of n-hexadecane decreased by 94.92%(blank control),96.96%(low concentration salt and glyphosate stress group),65.07%(high concentration salt and glyphosate stress group),while that of phenanthrene decreased by 87.33%(blank control),86.25%(low concentration salt and glyphosate stress group),58.45%(high concentration salt and glyphosate stress group).The combined stress of salt and herbicides was capable of lowering the reduction efficiency of organic matter,total nitrogen,and total phosphorus,and also restricting the growth of microorganisms and enzyme activities.Cluster analysis results indicated that the non-stress group was similar to the low-concentration compound stress group during different remedial period,whereas both of those differed starkly from the high-concentration compound stress group.High-throughput sequencing revealed that the dominant soil bacteria phyla shifted from Firmicutes to Actinobacteria within 120 days of remediation.Liu Bingkun Zuo Shuai Wang Ruirui Dong Kangning Zhang Xiuxia Li Ruyue Hao Boyu Li Jing Yin Linghao Bai Yuhao Song Jiayu Gu Yingying Sun Juan 2022China Petroleum Processing & Petrochemical Technology2022,24,2:0

18Effects of the grazing systems on germinable soil seed bank of desert steppe显示文摘We studied a soil seed bank in the Stipa breviflora desert steppe under three grassland management systems,namely continuous grazing,rotational grazing,and no grazing,from 1999 until 2007.The germinable seed bank species in rotational,continuous and no grazing were 11,9 and 8 species,respectively.Rotational grazing increased the number of seed bank plant species and perennial grasses.The density of germinal soil seed bank was significantly higher in the enclosed area(19,533.33 seeds/m 2) than those in rotational(3,233.33 seeds/m 2) and continuous grazing areas(2,553.60 seeds/m 2).The vertical distribution of the soil seed bank had a similar trend:75.06%-83.19% of the seeds are distributed in the top 0-5 cm soil layer,14.16%-21.68% in the 5-10 cm layer,and 2.65%-4.95% in the 10-15 cm layer,which varied between the grazing treatments.Density of the soil seed bank was significantly higher in the enclosed area,and there was no significant difference between rotational and continuous grazing.The Margalef and Shannon-Wiener indices for the soil seed bank were higher for rotational grazing treatment than for continuous grazing.The Sorensen's similarity index for the soil seed bank between the enclosed and rotational grazing areas reached 0.857.RuiRui Yan ZhiJun Wei XiaoPing Xin HongMei Liu Jing Yang Qiqige Wuren 2012Research in Cold and Arid Regions2012,4,1:0
