| 1 | Current Trends of the Prevalence of Childhood Asthma in Three Chinese Cities: A Multicenter Epidemiological Survey显示文摘Objective To analyze the prevalence of asthma and asthma related symptoms among children aged 0-14 years in three Chinese cities and to obtain a crude estimation of the trend of childhood asthma prevalence in China. Methods A cross-sectional, population-based survey of prevalence of asthma was conducted in children aged from 0 to 14 years in 3 major cities of China (Beijing, Chongqing, and Guangzhou) with different geographic locations. All the subjects were randomly selected by a multi-stage sampling method. Three to five schools and kindergartens in 2 urban districts in each city were randomly selected for the survey, and a validated questionnaire that included the core questions of the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood, Phase Ⅲ questionnaire and several additional questions were used. All questionnaires were completed by parents or guardians of the selected children. Children whose parents responded affirmatively to the question' Has your child ever been diagnosed as asthma by a doctor' were recognized as victims of asthma. Results The prevalence of asthma in Beijing, Chongqing, and Guangzhou was 3.15%, 7.45%, and 2.09%, respectively. These values were significantly higher than those obtained 10 years ago in the national epidemiological survey in 2000 which used the same method of investigation and the same diagnotic criteria (χ2 =3.938, P=0.047; χ2 =73.506, P≤0.001; χ2 =11.956, P=0.001, in each city). Of the asthmatic children 57.21%, 69.91%, and 60.00% had their first attack before the age of 3 in Beijing, Chongqing, and Guangzhou, respectively. Wheezing was the primary clinical manifestation for all asthmatic children , followed by persistent cough and repeated respiratory infections. Both the prevalence of asthma and asthma-related symptoms were statistically higher in males than in females. | 2 | Treating ischaemic stroke with intravenous tPA beyond 4.5 hours under the guidance of a MRI DWI/T2WI mismatch was safe and effective显示文摘Purpose Clinical trials have provided evidence that treating patients with acute ischaemic stroke(AIS)beyond 4.5 hours was feasible.Among them using MRI diffusion-weighted imaging/fluid attenuation inversion response(DWI/FLAIR)mismatch to guide intravenous tissue plasminogen activator(tPA)was successful.Our study explored the outcome and safety of using DWI/T2-weighted imaging(T2WI)mismatch to guide intravenous tPA therapy for patients with AIS between 4.5 hours and 12 hours of onset.Method This was a retrospective study.Records of 1462 AIS patients with the time of onset of<12 hours were reviewed.Those had MRI rapid sequence study and had hyperintense signal on DWI but normal T2WI and received intravenous tPA up to 12 hours of onset were included in the analysis.Their demographics,risk factors,post-tPA complications,National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)scores and outcome were recorded and analyse.χ2 was used to compare the intergroup variables.SAS was used to perform statistical calculation.A p<0.05 was considered statistically significant.results Of 1462 identified,601(41%)patients were entered into the final analysis.Among them,327(54%)had intravenous tPA within 4.5 hours of onset and 274(46%)were treated between 4.5-12 hours.After intravenous tPA,426 cases(71%)had>4 pints of improvement on NIHSS score within 24 hours.Postintravenous tPA,32(5.32%)cases had haemorrhagic transformation.26(4.33%)were asymptomatic ICH and 4(0.67%)died.At 90 days,523(87%)achieved a modified Rankin scale of 0-2.Conclusion Using MRI DWI/T2WI mismatch to identify patients with AIS for intravenous tPA between 4.5 hours and 12 hours was safe and effective.The outcome was similar to those used DWI/PWI or DWI/FLAIR mismatch as the screening tool.However,obtaining DWI/T2WI was faster and avoided the need of contrast material. | Qing-ke Bai Zhen-guo Zhao Lian-jun Lu Jian Shen Jian-ying Zhang Hai-jing Sui Xiu-hai Xie Juan Chen Juan Yang Cui-rong Chen | 2019 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2019,4,1: | 6 |
| 3 | Primary research on neoplasm needle track implantation metastasis after radioactive seeds implantation and preventive measures显示文摘Objective:To observe the possibility of neoplasm needle track implantation after radioactive seeds implantation and seek preventive measures to avoid it.Methods:Superficial tissue of 250 seeding needle cores and 250 stylophores employed in neoplasm radioactive seeds implantation was smeared on slides to search for tumor cells.All patients received chemotherapy or endocrine therapy after operations.Ultrasound B-mode or computer tomography(CT)was performed at 10th day,30th day,60th day,and 180th day post operation to detect neoplasm implantation metastasis through needle tracks. Results:Positive cells were found on 13 of 250(5.20%)cores,and 7 of 250(2.80%)stylophores.The difference was not sta- tistically significant(P>0.05).The positive cells frequency of needles those traversed distance less than 3 cm in normal tissue was 6.19%(13/210),while the frequency of the others those traversed longer distance in normal tissue was 2.41%(7/290). | 5 | Heterosis and heritability estimates for the survival of the Pacific white shrimp(Litopenaeus vannamei) under the commercial scale ponds显示文摘The aim of the present study is to detect the potential of the base population from diallel crosses of eight introduced strains of the Pacific white shrimp(Litopenaeus vannamei) for improving the yield. Heterosis and heritability were estimated for pond survival at commercial farm conditions for the base population that included 207 full-sib families from a nested mating design by artificial insemination. Among all the hybrids,the heterosis ranged from –11.37%(UA1×UA2) to 20.53%(UA3×SIN) with an average of 0.953%. The results showed that more than half of the hybrids(51.85%) have negative heterosis for survival rate, but most of the hybrids with positive heterosis have high estimates. The high proportion of negative heterosis for survival rate reminders us that the survival trait also should be considered in the crossbreeding program to avoid yield decrease. However, high positive heterosis manifested in most of the hybrids for survival indicates the usefulness of these hybrids for improving the survival to obtain higher yield by crossbreeding in this breeding program. The heritability estimate for pond survival was 0.092±0.043 when genetic groups were included in the pedigree, and it was significantly different from zero(P<0.05). | 11 | Treatment of Unresectable Advanced Gastric Cancer Using lodine-125 Brachytherapy显示文摘OBJECTIVE The purpose of the study was to examine the efficacy of treating patients with advanced gastric cancer using iodine -125 (125I) brachytherapy. METHODS Ten patients with unresectable advanced gastric cancer were selected based on their pattern of CT scans. We utilized a brachytherapy planning system to determine the distribution of the 125I seeds, their activity and quantity. The matched peripheral dose (MPD) was 110-135 Gy. 125I seeds were implanted in a single plane or biplane by an intraoperative small incision or percutaneous puncture. The post- operative hemogram, CT, KPS, pain-relieving period and survival period were recorded. RESULTS One patient developed a complete response (CR), 4 patients a partial response (PR), 3 patients showed no change (NC) and 2 pa- tients developed progressive disease (PD). The overall response rate (CR+PR) was 50% (5/10). The pain-relieving rate was 89% (8/9). The pa- tients’ appetite and KPS were improved. The longest survival period was 10 months and median life span was 4 months. There were 8 patients whose seeds fell off resulting in an expulsion rate of 3.8% (26/692). The patients showed 0-1 degree acute radio-therapeutic side-effects without other symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomitus cruentes or intestinal obstruction etc. CONCLUSION Applying 125I implantation to treat advanced gastric can- cer with a reasonable seed distribution can significantly improve clinical symptoms and their quality of life. The radioactive damage is mild. | 17 | Awareness is essential for differential delay eyeblink conditioning with soft-tone but not loud-tone conditioned stimuli显示文摘The role of awareness in differential delay eyeblink conditioning(DEC) remains controversial. Here, we investigated the involvement of awareness in differential DEC with a soft or a loud tone as the conditioned stimulus(CS). In the experiment, 36 participants were trained in differential DEC with a soft tone(60 dB) or a loud tone(85 dB) as the CS, paired with a corneal air-puff as the unconditioned stimulus(US). After conditioning, awareness of the relationship between the CS and the US was assessed with a 17-item true/false questionnaire. Interestingly, during differential DEC with a soft-tone CS, a higher proportion of differential conditioned responses(CRs) was evident in participants who were aware than those who were unaware. In contrast, when a loud tone was used as the CS, the proportion of differential CRs of the aware participants did not differ significantly from those who were unaware over any of the blocks of 20 trials. In unaware participants, the percentage of differential CRs with a loud-tone CS was significantly higher than that with a soft-tone CS; however in participants classified as aware, the percentage of differential CRs with a loud-tone CS did not differ significantly from that with a soft-tone CS.
