3Case study on the first immigration of fall armyworm,Spodoptera frugiperda invading into China显示文摘The fall armyworm(FAW),Spodoptera frugiperda is one of the most damaging crop pests,and it has become major threat to the food security of many countries.In order to monitor possible invasion of this pest into China,a searchlight trap was established in March 2018 in western Yunnan Province,China,where it has served as the'first station'for many pests that have migrated from Myanmar to China.A number of suspected FAW moths were captured and identified by DNA sequencing.The results showed that the FAW moth was first captured on December 11 and formed its first immigration peak in mid-December 2018.DNA detection revealed that the early invading FAW population was the'corn-strain'.The field survey indicated that the pest mainly colonized corn in Pu’er,Dehong and Baoshan areas.Migration trajectory simulation implied that the moths might have mainly come from the eastern area in the mid-latitude region of Myanmar(20-25°N,94-100°E).This case study confirmed the first immigration of FAW into China,and will be helpful for guiding monitoring and management work to control this pest.SUN Xiao-xu HU Chao-xing JIA Hui-ru WU Qiu-lin SHEN Xiu-jing ZHAO Sheng-yuan JIANG Yu-ying WU Kong-ming 2021Journal of Integrative Agriculture2021,20,3:66
4Abdominal compartment syndrome in patients with severe acute pancreatitis in early stage显示文摘AIM: To study retrospectively the influence of intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) in patients with early acute pancreatitis (AP) (during the first week after admission) on physiological functions, and the association of the presence of IAH/ACS and outcome. METHODS: Patients (n = 74) with AP recruited in this study were divided into two groups according to intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) determined by indirect measurement using the transvesical route via Foley bladder catheter during the first week after admission. Patients (n = 44) with IAP ≥ 12 mmHg were assigned in IAH group, and the remaining patients (n = 30) with IAP < 12 mmHg in normal IAP group. For analysis of the influence of IAH/ACS on organ function and outcome, the physiological parameters and the occurrence of organ dysfunction during intensive care unit (ICU) stay were recorded, as were the incidences of pancreatic infection and in-hospital mortality. RESULTS: IAH within the first week after admission was found in 44 patients (59.46%). Although the APACHE Ⅱ scores on admission and the Ranson scores within 48 h after hospitalization were elevated in IAH patients in early stage, they did not show the statistically significant differences from patients with normal IAP within a week after admission (16.18 ± 3.90 vs 15.70 ± 4.25, P = 0.616; 3.70 ± 0.93 vs 3.47 ± 0.94, P = 0.285, respectively). ACS in early AP was recorded in 20 patients (27.03%). During any 24-h period ofthe first week after admission, the recorded mean IAP correlated significantly with the Marshall score calculated at the same time interval in IAH group (r = 0.635, P < 0.001). Although ACS patients had obvious amelioration in physiological variables within 24 h after decompression, the incidences of pancreatitic infection, septic shock, multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) and death in the patients with ACS were significantly higher than that in other patients without ACS (pancreatitic infection: 60.0% vs 7.4%, P < 0.001; septic shock: 70.0% vs 11.1%, P < 0.001; MODS: 90.0% vs 31.5%, P < 0.001; mortality: 75.0% vs 3.7%, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: IAH/ACS is a frequent finding in patients admitted to the ICU because of AP. 6Effect of carbon source on the denitrification in constructed wetlands显示文摘The ability of constructed wetlands with different plants in nitrate removal were investigated. The factors promoting the rates of denitrification including organic carbon, nitrate load, plants in wetlands, pH and water temperature in field were systematically investigated. The results showed that the additional carbon source (glucose) can remarkably improve the nitrate removal ability of the constructed wetland. It demonstrated that the nitrate removal rate can increase from 20% to more than 50% in summer and from 10% to 30% in winter, when the nitrate concentration was 30–40 mg/L, the retention time was 24 h and 25 mg/L dissolved organic carbon (DOC) was ploughed into the constructed wetland. However, the nitrite in the constructed wetland accumulated a little with the supply of the additional carbon source in summer and winter, and it increased from 0.15 to 2 mg/L in the effuent. It was also found that the abilities of plant in adjusting pH and temperature can result in an increase of denitrification in wetlands. 9Expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase and matrix metalloproteinase-9 and their effects on angiogenesis and progression of hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM: To determine the expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9)in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and to investigate the relationship between iNOS and MMP-9 expression and their effects on angiogenesis and progression of HCC.METHODS: Tn this study, we examined iNOS, MMP-9,and CD34 expression in specimens surgically removed from 32 HCC patients and 7 normal liver tissues by immunohistochemical staining. Meanwhile, microvessel density (MVD) was determined as a marker of angiogenesis by counting CD34-positive cells.RESULTS: The positive rates of iNOS and MMP-9expression were 71.88% (23/32) and 78.13% (25/32) in HCC. MMP-g expression was significantly correlated with tumor size, capsule status, TNM stage, and risk of HCC recurrence (P= 0.032, P= 0.033, P= 0.007, and P= 0.001,respectively). There was also a significant relationship between iNOS expression and capsule status and risk of HCC recurrence (P = 0.04g and P = 0.004, respectively),but no correlation between iNOS expression and tumor size and TNM stage. There was a positive association between MVD and TNM stage and risk of HCC recurrence (P = 0.037 and P = 0.000, respectively). The count of MVD was significantly different in different iNOS and MMP-9 immunoreactivity groups (F= 17.713 and 17.097, P = 0.000 and P = 0.000, respectively). The examination of Spearman's rank correlation coefficient showed that there was a significant positive correlation between MVD and iNOS,MMP-9 immunoreactivity (r= 0.754 and 0.751, P= 0.000 and P=0.000, respectively). There was also a significant association between MMP-9 and iNOS expression in HCC (P = 0.010).CONCLUSION: Nitric oxide (NO) produced by iNOS could modulate MMP-9 production and therefore contribute to tumor cell angiogenesis and invasion and metastasis in HCC. The strong expression of iNOS and MMP-9 in HCC may be helpful in evaluating the recurrence of HCC,predicting poor prognosis. 13High-altitude gastrointestinal bleeding:An observation in Qinghai-Tibetan railroad construction workers on Mountain Tanggula显示文摘AIM: To investigate the gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) in people from lowland to high altitude and in workers on Mountain Tanggula and its causes as well as treatment and prophylaxis.METHODS: From 2001 to October 2003, we studied GIB in 13 502 workers constructing the railroad on Mountain Tanggula which is 4905 m above the sea level. The incidence of GIB in workers at different altitudes was recorded. Endoscopy was performed when the workers evacuated to Golmud (2808 m) and Xining (2261 m). The available data on altitude GIB were analyzed.RESULTS: The overall incidence of GIB was 0.49% in 13 502 workers. The incidence increased with increasing altitude. The onset of symptoms in most patients was within three weeks after arrival at high altitude. Bleeding manifested as hematemesis, melaena or hematochezia, and might be occult. Endoscopic examination showed that the causes of altitude GIB included hemorrhage gastritis, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, and gastric erosion. Experimental studies suggested that acute gastric mucosal lesion (AGML) could be induced by hypoxic and cold stress, which might be the pathogenesis of altitude GIB. Those who consumed large amount of alcohol, aspirin or dexamethasone were at a higher risk of developing GIB. Persons who previously suffered from peptic ulcer or high-altitude polycythemia were also at risk of developing GIB. Early diagnosis, evacuation, and treatment led to early recovery. CONCLUSION: GIB is a potentially life threatening disease, if it is not treated promptly and effectively. Early diagnosis, treatment and evacuation lead to an early recovery. 17A review on completing arsenic biogeochemical cycle: Microbial volatilization of arsines in environment显示文摘Arsenic(As) is ubiquitous in the environment in the carcinogenic inorganic forms, posing risks to human health in many parts of the world. Many microorganisms have evolved a series of mechanisms to cope with inorganic arsenic in their growth media such as transforming As compounds into volatile derivatives. Bio-volatilization of As has been suggested to play an important role in global As biogeochemical cycling, and can also be explored as a potential method for arsenic bioremediation. This review aims to provide an overview of the quality and quantity of As volatilization by fungi, bacteria, microalga and protozoans. Arsenic bio-volatilization is influenced by both biotic and abiotic factors that can be manipulated/elucidated for the purpose of As bioremediation. However,controversies concerns exist regarding a variety of factors including the safety,feasibility, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness of robotic surgery. To promote the development of robotic hepatectomy, this study aimed to evaluate the current status of robotic hepatectomy and provide sixty experts' consensus and recommendations to promote its development. Based on the World Health Organization Handbook for Guideline Development, a Consensus Steering Group and a Consensus Development Group were established to determine the topics, prepare evidence-based documents, and generate recommendations. The GRADE Grid method and Delphi vote were used to formulate the recommendations. A total of 22 topics were prepared analyzed and widely discussed during the 4 meetings. Based on the published articles and expert panel opinion, 7 recommendations were generated by the GRADE method using an evidence-based method, which focused on the safety, feasibility, indication,techniques and cost-effectiveness of hepatectomy. 19Inhibitory effect of emodin and Astragalus polysaccharide on the replication of HBV显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the anti-viral effect of emodin plus Astragalus polysaccharide (APS) in hepatitis B virus (HBV) transgenic mice.METHODS: Sixty HBV transgenic mice (HBV TGM) whose weight varied between 18 and 24 g were randomly divided into 3 groups, with 20 mice in each group. Group A was the normal control, where the mice were treated with physiological saline; group B was the positive control where the mice were treated with lamivudine solution (100 mL/kg per day). Group C was the experimental group where the mice were treated with physiological saline containing emodin and APS (57.59 mg/kg per day and 287.95 mg/kg per day, respectively). The mice were treated daily for 3 wk. After 1 wk recovery time, the mice were sacrifi ced and serum as well as liver tissues were collected for ELISA and histological examination.RESULTS: After 21 d treatment, HBV DNA levels in group B and group C significantly declined when compared with group A (P < 0.05). However, a signif icant increase in HBV DNA content was observed in group B, whereas this phenomenon was not observed in group C. 20Sevoflurane postconditioning protects against myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury by restoring autophagic flux via an NO-dependent mechanism显示文摘Volatile anesthetics improve postischemic cardiac function and reduce infarction even when administered for only a brief-time at the onset of reperfusion.A recent study showed that sevoflurane postconditioning (SPC)attenuated myocardial reperfusion injury, but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear,in this study,we examined the effects of sevoflurane on nitric oxide (NO)release and autophagic flux during the myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)injury in rats in vivo and ex vivo.Male rats were subjected to 30 min ischemia and 2 h reperfusion in the presence or absence of sevoflurane (1.0 minimum alveolar concentration)during the first 15 min of reperfusion.We found that SPC significantly improved hemodynamic performance after reperfusion,alleviated postischemic myocardial infarction,reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide content loss,and cytochrome c.release in heart tissues.Furthermore,SPC significantly increased the phosphorylation of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (NOS)and neuronal nitric oxide synthase,and elevated myocardial NOS activity and NO production.All these effects were abolished by treatment with an NOS inhibitor NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME,10 mg/kg,i.v.).We also observed myocardial I/R-induced accumulation of autophagosomes in heart tissues,as evidenced by increased ratios of microtubule:associated protein 1 light chain 3 Ⅱ/Ⅰ,upregulation of Beclin 1 and P62,and reduced lysosome-assciated membrane protein-2 expression.SPC significantly attenuated I/R- impaired autophagic flux,which were blocked by L-NAME.Moreover,pretreatment with the autophagic flUX blocker chloroquine (10 mg/kg,i.p.)increased autophagosome accumulation in SPC-treated heart following I/R and blocked SPC-induced cardioprotection.The same results were also observed in a rat model of myocardial I/R injury ex vivo,suggesting that SPC protects rat hearts against myocardial reperfusion injury by restoring I/R-impaired autophagic flux yia an NO-dependent mechanism.Shi-gang Qiao Ying Sun Bo Sun An Wang Jia Qiu Lei Hong Jian-zhong An Chen Wang Hui-ling Zhang 2019Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2019,40,1:21
