Internet of Things to network smart devices for ecosystem monitoring显示文摘Smart, real-time, low-cost, and distributed ecosystem monitoring is essential for understanding and managing rapidly changing ecosystems. However, new techniques in the big data era have rarely been introduced into operational ecosystem monitoring, particularly for fragile ecosystems in remote areas. We introduce the Internet of Things(IoT) techniques to establish a prototype ecosystem monitoring system by developing innovative smart devices and using IoT technologies for ecosystem monitoring in isolated environments. The developed smart devices include four categories: large-scale and nonintrusive instruments to measure evapotranspiration and soil moisture, in situ observing systems for CO2 and d13 C associated with soil respiration, portable and distributed devices for monitoring vegetation variables, and Bi-CMOS cameras and pressure trigger sensors for terrestrial vertebrate monitoring. These new devices outperform conventional devices and are connected to each other via wireless communication networks. The breakthroughs in the ecosystem monitoring IoT include new data loggers and longdistance wireless sensor network technology that supports the rapid transmission of data from devices to wireless networks. The applicability of this ecosystem monitoring IoT is verified in three fragile ecosystems, including a karst rocky desertification area, the National Park for Amur Tigers, and the oasis-desert ecotone in China. By integrating these devices and technologies with an ecosystem monitoring information system, a seamless data acquisition, transmission, processing, and application IoT is created. The establishment of this ecosystem monitoring IoT will serve as a new paradigm for ecosystem monitoring and therefore provide a platform for ecosystem management and decision making in the era of big data. | Xin Li Ning Zhao Rui Jin Shaomin Liu Xiaomin Sun Xuefa Wen Dongxiu Wu Yan Zhou Jianwen Guo Shiping Chen Ziwei Xu Mingguo Ma Tianming Wang Yonghua Qu Xinwei Wang Fangming Wu Yuke Zhou | 2019 | Science Bulletin2019,64,17: | 10

ILF3 is a substrate of SPOP for regulating serine biosynthesis in colorectal cancer显示文摘The Serine-Glycien-One-Carbon(SGOC)pathway is pivotal in multiple anabolic processes.Expression levels of SGOC genes are deregulated under tumoeigenic condltions, suggesting panicipation of oncogenes in deregulating the SGOC biosynthetic pathway. However, the underlying mechanism remains elusive. Here,we identifed that Interleukin enfiarccer-binding factor 3(ILF3)is overexpressed in primary CRC patient specimens and correlates with poor progroosis.ILF3 is critical in regulating the SGOC pathway by directly regulating the mRNA stability of SGOC genes, thereby increasing SGOC genes expression and facilitating tumor growth.Mehhanktic studies showed that the EGF-MIEK-ERK pathway nnediates ILF3 phosphorylation, which hin ders E3 ligase speckle-type POZ protein(SPOP)-mediated poly-ubiquitination and degradation of ILF3.Sign iftca ntly, combination of SGOC inhibitor and the anti-EGFR monoclonal antibody cetuximab can hinder the growth of patient-derived xenografts that sustain high ERK-ILF3 levels.Taken together, deregutation of ILF3 via the EGF-ERK signaling plays an important role in systemic serine metabolic reprogramming and confers a predilection toward CRC development. Our findings indicate that clinical evaluation of SCOC inhibitor is warranted for CRC patients with ILF3 overexpression. | Kai Li Jian-lin Wu Baifu Qin Zongmin Fan Qin Tang Weisi Lu Haipeng Zhang Fan Xing Manqi Meng Shaomin Zou Wenxia Wei Honglei Chen Jian Cai Huaiming Wang Hui Zhang Jiayue Cai Ling Fang Xiqing Bian Chuangqi Chen Ping Lan Bart Ghesquiere Lekun Fang Mong-Hong Lee | 2020 | Cell Research2020,30,2: | 6
Preparation of Ce3+doped Bi2O3 hollow needle-shape with enhanced visible-light photocatalytic activity显示文摘Ce3+ doped Bi2O3 hollow needle-shape with enhanced visible-light photocatalytic activity was successfully prepared via the method of chemical precipitation using Bi(NO3)·5H2O and Ce(NO3)3·6H2O as the source of bismuth and cerium, HNO3 as solvent and NaOH as precipitants, respectively and after calcination at 500 ℃ for 2 h. The morphology and elemental composition, crystal form, purity and specific surface area of the hollow needle Bi2O3 were characterized by SEM-EDS, XRD, BET and FT-IR. The photocatalytic properties of the as-obtained samples were measured by UV-vis diffuse reflection spectroscopy and photochemical reactor. As a result, the obtained Bi2O3 hollow needle-shape doped with 5 wt% Ce shows good morphology, α-phase, stronger absorbent for visible light and good photocatalytic property. Under the simulated visible light of 300 W, the photodegradation rate of tetracycline over HNBCe can reach to 89.1%,which is higher than that of commercial Bi2O3 nanoparticles and Bi2O3 hollow needle-shape. | Wenwen Zhang Shaomin Gao Donghui Chen | 2019 | Journal of Rare Earths2019,37,7: | 6
Development of an invasive brain machine interface with a monkey model显示文摘Brain-machine interfaces (BMIs) translate neural activities of the brain into specific instructions that can be carried out by external devices. BMIs have the potential to restore or augment motor functions of paralyzed patients suffering from spinal cord damage. The neural activities have been used to predict the 2D or 3D movement trajectory of monkey's arm or hand in many studies. However, there are few studies on decoding the wrist movement from neural activities in center-out paradigm. The present study developed an invasive BMI system with a monkey model using a 10×10-microelectrode array in the primary motor cortex. The monkey was trained to perform a two-dimensional forelimb wrist movement paradigm where neural activities and movement signals were simultaneous recorded. Results showed that neuronal firing rates highly correlated with forelimb wrist movement; > 70% (105/149) neurons exhibited specific firing changes during movement and > 36% (54/149) neurons were used to discriminate directional pairs. The neuronal firing rates were also used to predict the wrist moving directions and continuous trajectories of the forelimb wrist. The four directions could be classified with 96% accuracy using a support vector machine, and the correlation coefficients of trajectory prediction using a general regression neural network were above 0.8 for both horizontal and vertical directions. Results showed that this BMI system could predict monkey wrist movements in high accuracy through the use of neuronal firing information. | ZHANG QiaoSheng ZHANG ShaoMin HAO YaoYao ZHANG HuaiJian ZHU JunMing ZHAO Ting ZHANG JianMin WANG YiWen ZHENG XiaoXiang CHEN WeiDong | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,16: | 4
Decoding grasp movement from monkey premotor cortex for real-time prosthetic hand control显示文摘Brain machine interfaces (BMIs) have demonstrated lots of successful arm-related reach decoding in past decades, which provide a new hope for restoring the lost motor functions for the disabled. On the other hand, the more sophisticated hand grasp movement, which is more fundamental and crucial for daily life, was less referred. Current state of arts has specified some grasp related brain areas and offline decoding results; however, online decoding grasp movement and real-time neuroprosthetic control have not been systematically investigated. In this study, we obtained neural data from the dorsal premotor cortex (PMd) when monkey reaching and grasping one of four differently shaped objects following visual cues. The four grasp gesture types with an additional resting state were classified asynchronously using a fuzzy k-nearest neighbor model, and an artificial hand was controlled online using a shared control strategy. The results showed that most of the neurons in PMd are tuned by reach and grasp movement, us- ing which we get a high average offline decoding accuracy of 97.1%. In the online demonstration, the instantaneous status of monkey grasping could be extracted successfully to control the artificial hand, with an event-wise accuracy of 85.1%. Overall, our results inspect the neural firing along the time course of grasp and for the first time enables asynchronous neural control of a prosthetic hand, which underline a feasible hand neural prosthesis in BMIs. | HAO YaoYao ZHANG QiaoSheng ZHANG ShaoMin ZHAO Ting WANG YiWen CHEN WeiDong ZHENG XiaoXiang | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,20: | 4
The preparation of supported ionic liquids (SILs) and their application in rare metals separation显示文摘This review summarizes the preparation methods of support ionic liquids (SILs) and their applications in rare metals separation. The rare metals separation includes the recovery of high value metal ions and the removal of heavy metal ions from wastewater. SILs can be used as a kind of highly efficient multifunctional separation materials. The preparation methods of SILs include chemical immobilization technique in which ILs moieties are supported on solid supports via covalent bonds and physical immobilization techniques in which ILs are immobilized on solid supports via physical method such as simple im- pregnation, sol-gel method. According to the difference of solid supports, this review summarizes the application of polymer supported ionic liquids (P-SILs), silica based material supported ionic liquids (SM-SILs) and membrane supported ionic liq- uids (M-SILs) in rare metals separation. P-SILs and SM-SILs prepared by chemical method with N-methylimidazolium group can be used as highly efficient anion exchangers with high thermal stability and good chemical stability for adsorption of Cr(VI), Re(VII), Ce(IV). P-SILs prepared via simple impregnation afforded IL functionalized solvent impregnated resins (SIRs) which showed high separation efficiency and selectivity in the separation of rare earths(III) (REs(III)). SM-SILs prepared via sol-gel method with IL doped in the support as porogens or extractant show high removal efficiencies and excellent stability for the separation of RE(III), Cr(III) and Cr(VI). M-SILs with IL as plasticizer or carrier show improved stability, high perme- ability coefficient and good selectivity for Cr(VI) transport. Different supports and different supporting methods were suffi- ciently compared. Based on the different practical application, different forms of SILs can be prepared for separation of rare metals with high separation efficiency and selectivity. | ZHU LiLi GUO Lin ZHANG ZhenJiang CHEN Ji ZHANG ShaoMin | 2012 | Science China Chemistry2012,55,8: | 4
Magnetic composite Fe3O4/CeO2 for adsorption of azo dye显示文摘In this paper, magnetic composite Fe_3 O_4/CeO_2(MC Fe/Ce) was synthesized via CeO_2 covered onto the surface of Fe_3O_4 by sol-precipitation method. The as-synthesized samples were characterized by FE-SEM,XRD,SEM-EDS and FT-IR spectrum. The pseudo-second-order(PSO) kinetic can describe well the adsorption of Acid black 210(AB210) onto the as-obtained MC Fe/Ce of which the adsorption isotherm fits the Langmuir adsorption model better than Freundlich adsorption model.Furthermore, the maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of MC Fe/Ce is about 93 mg/g,which is 6 times more than that of commercial CeO_2 for AB210.Moreover,the removal rate of the adsorbates for AB210 is 82.3% after first adsorption and still about 70% the fourth forth adsorption experiments within 120 min, which demonstrates that the obtained MC Fe/Ce has outstanding adsorption capacity and good stability.Additionally, the composite can be easily separated from aqueous solution in a few seconds with an external magnetic field due to its magnetic property, which is vital and has potential for its practical applications. | Shaomin Gao Wenwen Zhang Huiping Zhou Donghui Chen | 2018 | Journal of Rare Earths2018,36,9: | 3
The biomarkers of immune dysregulation and inflammation response in Parkinson disease显示文摘Parkinson’s disease(PD)is referring to the multi-systemicα-synucleinopathy with Lewy bodies deposited in midbrain. In ageing, the environmental and genetic factors work together and overactive major histocompatibility complex pathway to regulate immune reactions in central nerve system which resulting in neural degeneration, especially in dopaminergic neurons. As a series of biomarkers, the human leukocyte antigen genes with its related proteomics play cortical roles on the antigen presentation of major histocompatibility complex molecules to stimulate the differentiation of T lymphocytes and i-proteasome activities under their immune response to the PD-related environmental alteration and genetic variation.Furthermore, dopaminergic drugs change the biological characteristic of T lymphatic cells, affect theα-synuclein presentation pathway, and inhibit T lymphatic cells to release cytotoxicity in PD development.Taking together, the serum inflammatory factors and blood T cells are involved in the immune dysregulation of PD and inspected as the potential clinic biomarkers for PD prediction. | Li Chen Mingshu Mo Guangning Li Luan Cen Lei Wei Yousheng Xiao Xiang Chen Shaomin Li Xinling Yang Shaogang Qu Pingyi Xu | 2016 | Translational Neurodegeneration2016,5,1: | 3
Nitrogen content diagnosis of apple trees canopies using hyperspectral reflectance combined with PLS variable extraction and extreme learning machine显示文摘Nitrogen(N)is an important mineral element in apple production.Rapid estimation of apple tree N status is helpful for achieving precise N management. The objective of this work was to explore partial least squares(PLS)regression in dimensional reduction of spectral data and build the diagnostic model. The spectral reflectance data were collected from Fuji apple trees with 4 levels of N fertilizer treatment in the Loess Plateau in 2018 and 2019 using an ASD portable spectroradiometer, and leaf total N content was obtained at the same time. The raw spectra were pretreated using Savitzky-Golay(SG)smoothing and a combination of SG and first-order derivative(SG_FD)or second-order derivative(SG_SD).The samples were divided into a calibration dataset and a prediction dataset using SPXY.Based on 4 factors of PLS regression, including latent variables(LVs),X-loading,variable importance in projection(VIP)and regression coefficients(RC),the 6 methods(LVs,X-loading,VIP_01,VIP_02,RC_01 and RC_02)were derived and used for variable extraction, based on which PLS model and ELM model were established. The results indicated that the spectral data processed by SG_FD had the highest signal-to-noise ratio and was selected for subsequent analysis. The amounts of variables extracted by LVs,X-loading,VIP_01,VIP_02,RC_01 and RC_02 were 6,11,18,305,26 and 88,respectively.The method of extracting variables with an RC threshold based on the minimum RMSEP(RC_02)could effectively avoid the omission of effective information. The RC_02 method was recommended for related research which required accurate wavelength information as a variable. The variable extraction method based on LVs generated an ELM model with a simple structure. The prediction results showed that the ELM model outperformed the PLS model. The PLS(LVs)_ELM model was the best;R2P,RMSEP and RPD were 0.837,2.393 and 2.220,respectively. | Shaomin Chen Lihui Ma Tiantian Hu Lihua Luo Qiong He Shaowu Zhang | 2021 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2021,14,3: | 2
Nitrogen-doped Carbon Nanospheres-Modified Graphitic Carbon Nitride with Outstanding Photocatalytic Activity显示文摘Metals and metal oxides are widely used as photo/electro-catalysts for environmental remediation. However, there are many issues related to these metal-based catalysts for practical applications, such as high cost and detrimental environmental impact due to metal leaching.Carbon-based catalysts have the potential to overcome these limitations. In this study, monodisperse nitrogen-doped carbon nanospheres(NCs)were synthesized and loaded onto graphitic carbon nitride(g-C3N4,GCN)via a facile hydrothermal method for photocatalytic removal of sulfachloropyridazine(SCP).The prepared metal-free GCN-NC exhibited remarkably enhanced efficiency in SCP degradation. The nitrogen content in NC critically influences the physicochemical properties and performances of the resultant hybrids. The optimum nitrogen doping concentration was identified at 6.0 wt%.The SCP removal rates can be improved by a factor of 4.7 and 3.2,under UV and visible lights,by the GCN-NC composite due to the enhanced charge mobility and visible light harvesting. The mechanism of the improved photocatalytic performance and band structure alternation were further investigated by density functional theory(DFT)calculations. The DFT results confirm the high capability of the GCN-NC hybrids to activate the electron–hole pairs by reducing the band gap energy and efficiently separating electron/hole pairs.Superoxide and hydroxyl radicals are subsequently produced, leading to the efficient SCP removal. | Qiaoran Liu Hao Tian Zhenghua Dai Hongqi Sun Jian Liu Zhimin Ao Shaobin Wang Chen Han Shaomin Liu | 2020 | Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,2: | 2
