| 1 | Arbitrary polarization conversion dichroism metasurfaces for all-in-one full Poincare sphere polarizers显示文摘The control of polarization,an essential property of light,is of broad scientific and technological interest.Polarizers are indispensable optical elements for direct polarization generation.However,arbitrary polarization generation,except that of common linear and circular polarization,relies heavily on bulky optical components such as cascading linear polarizers and waveplates.Here,we present an effective strategy for designing all-in-one full Poincare sphere polarizers based on perfect arbitrary polarization conversion dichroism and implement it in a monolayer all-dielectric metasurface.This strategy allows preferential transmission and conversion of one polarization state located at an arbitrary position on the Poincare sphere to its handedness-flipped state while completely blocking its orthogonal state.In contrast to previous methods that were limited to only linear or circular polarization,our method manifests perfect dichroism of nearly 100%in theory and greater than 90%experimentally for arbitrary polarization states.By leveraging this attractive dichroism,our demonstration of the generation of polarization beams located at an arbitrary position on a Poincare sphere directly from unpolarized light can substantially extend the scope of meta-optics and dramatically promote state-of-the-art nanophotonic devices. | Shuai Wang Zi-Lan Deng Yujie Wang Qingbin Zhou Xiaolei Wang Yaoyu Cao Bai-Ou Guan Shumin Xiao Xiangping Li | 2021 | Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,2: | 6 |

| 7 | Discovery of small molecule Gαq/11 protein inhibitors against uveal melanoma显示文摘Constitutively activated G proteins caused by specific mutations mediate the development of multiple malignancies. The mutated Gaq/11 are perceived as oncogenic drivers in the vast majority of uveal melanoma(UM) cases, making directly targeting Gaq/11 to be a promising strategy for combating UM. Herein, we report the optimization of imidazopiperazine derivatives as Gaq/11 inhibitors, and identified GQ262 with improved Gaq/11 inhibitory activity and drug-like properties. GQ262 efficiently blocked UM cell proliferation and migration in vitro. Analysis of the apoptosis-related proteins, extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK), and yes-associated protein(YAP) demonstrated that GQ262 distinctly induced UM cells apoptosis and disrupted the downstream effectors by targeting Gaq/11directly. Significantly, GQ262 showed outstanding antitumor efficacy in vivo with good safety at the testing dose. | 9 | Suggestion on further strengthening ultra-low emission standards for PM emission from coal-fired power plants in China显示文摘China has established the largest clean coal-fired power generation system in the world by accomplishing the technological transformation of coal-fired power plants(CFPPs)to achieve ultra-low emission.The potential for further particulate matter(PM)emission reduction to achieve near-zero emission for CFPPs has become a hotspot issue.In this study,PM emission from some ultra-low emission CFPPs adopting advanced air pollutant control technologies in China was reviewed.The results revealed that the average filterable particulate matter(FPM)concentration,measured as the total particulate matter(TPM)according to the current national monitoring standard,was(1.67±0.86)mg/m^(3),which could fully achieve the ultra-low emission standard for key regions(5 mg/m^(3)),but that achieving the near-zero emission standard was difficult(1 mg/m^(3)).However,the condensable particulate matter(CPM),with an average concentration of(1.06±1.28)mg/m^(3),was generally ignored during monitoring,which led to about 38.7%underestimation of the TPM.Even considering both FPM and CPM,the TPM emission from current CFPPs would contribute to less than 5%of atmospheric PM_(2.5) concentrations in the key cities and regions in China.Therefore,further reduction in FPM emission proposed by the near-zero emission plan of CFPPs may have less environmental benefit than emission control of other anthropogenic sources.However,it is suggested that the management of CPM emission should be strengthened,and a national standard for CPM emission monitoring based on the indirect dilution method should be established for CFPPs.Those measurements are helpful for optimal operation of air pollutant control devices and continuously promoting further emission reduction. | Jianguo Deng Shumin Wang Jiawei Zhang Yi Zhang Jingkun Jiang Yongzheng Gu Tao Han Lei Feng Jian Gao Lei Duan | 2023 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,1: | 1 |

| 11 | A Methodology Framework for Regional Land-use Change Studies based on Landsat TM images: A Case Study in Northeast China显示文摘Land-use change is an important aspect of global environment change. It is, in a sense, the direct result of human activities influencing our physical environment. This paper analyzed the land-use change in Northeast China during 1985-2000 based on Landsat TM images. It divides Northeast China into five land-use zones based on the dynamic degree model of land-use: woodland/grassland-arable land conversion zone, dry land-paddy field conversion zone; urban expansion zone, interlocked zone of farming and pasturing and reclamation and abandon zone. The findings include the obvious increase of cropland area, paddy field and dry land increased by 75 and 276 thousand hm2 respectively; urban areas expanded rapidly, areas of town and rural residence increased by 76.8 thousand hm2; areas of forests and grassland decreased sharply with the amounts of 1399 and 1521 thousand hm2 respectively; areas of water body and unused land increased by 148 and 514 thousand hm2 respectively. The release of lactate dehydrogenase, superoxide dismutase activity and levels of malondialdehyde were determined by UV spectrophotometry. The changes in mitochondrial membrane potential and the intracellular concentration of calcium were determined by flow cytometry, and the activity of caspase-3 was monitored by western blot. According to cell viability and apoptosis studies, MPP+-induced apoptosis in PC12 cells was inhibited in the presence of 10 μg/mL of Eleutheroside B. | 15 | Diversity,community structure,and quantity of eukaryotic phytoplankton revealed using 18S rRNA and plastid 16S rRNA genes and pigment markers:a case study of the Pearl River Estuary显示文摘Understanding consistencies and discrepancies in characterizing diversity and quantity of phytoplankton is essential for better modeling ecosystem change.In this study,eukaryotic phytoplankton in the Pearl River Estuary,South China Sea were investigated using nuclear 18S rRNA and plastid 16S or 23S rRNA genes and pigment analysis.It was found that 18S abundance poorly explained the variations in total chlorophyll a(Chl-a).However,the ratios of log-transformed 18S abundance to Chl-a in the major phytoplankton groups were generally environment dependent,suggesting that the ratio has potential as an indicator of the physiological state of phytoplankton.The richness of 18S-based operational taxonomic units was positively correlated with the richness of 16S-based amplicon sequence variants of the whole phytoplankton community,but insignifcant or weak for individual phytoplankton groups.Overall,the 18S based,rather than the 16S based,community structure had a greater similarity to pigment-based estimations.Relative to the pigment data,the proportion of haptophytes in the 18S dataset,and diatoms and cryptophytes in the 16S dataset,were underestimated.This study highlights that 18S metabarcoding tends to refect biomass-based community organization of eukaryotic phytoplankton.Because there were lower copy numbers of plastid 16S than 18S per genome,metabarcoding of 16S probably approximates cell abundance-based community organization.Changes in biomass organization of the pigment-based community were sensitive to environmental changes.Taken together,multiple methodologies are recommended to be applied to more accurately profle the diversity and community composition of phytoplankton in natural ecosystems. | Shumin Xu Guihao Li Cui He Yi Huang Dan Yu Huiwen Deng Zhuyin Tong Yichong Wang Christine Dupuy Bangqin Huang Zhuo Shen Jie Xu Jun Gong | 2023 | Marine Life Science & Technology2023,5,3: | 0 |
