1Biomonitoring for traditional herbal medicinal products using DNA metabarcoding and single molecule, real-time sequencing显示文摘Global concerns have been paid to the potential hazard of traditional herbal medicinal products(THMPs). Substandard and counterfeit THMPs, including traditional Chinese patent medicine, health foods, dietary supplements, etc. are potential threats to public health. Recent marketplace studies using DNA barcoding have determined that the current quality control methods are not sufficient for ensuring the presence of authentic herbal ingredients and detection of contaminants/adulterants. An efficient biomonitoring method for THMPs is of great needed. Herein, metabarcoding and single-molecule, realtime(SMRT) sequencing were used to detect the multiple ingredients in Jiuwei Qianghuo Wan(JWQHW), a classical herbal prescription widely used in China for the last 800 years. Reference experimental mixtures and commercial JWQHW products from the marketplace were used to confirm the method. Successful SMRT sequencing results recovered 5416 and 4342 circular-consensus sequencing(CCS) reads belonging to the ITS2 and psb A-trn H regions. The results suggest that with the combination of metabarcoding and SMRT sequencing, it is repeatable, reliable, and sensitive enough to detect species in the THMPs, and the error in SMRT sequencing did not affect the ability to identify multiple prescribed species and several adulterants/contaminants. 5Trends in herbgenomics显示文摘From Shen Nong's Herbal Classic(Shennong Bencao Jing) to the Compendium of Materia Medica(Bencao Gangmu) and the first scientific Nobel Prize for the mainland of China, each milestone in the historical process of the development of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) involves screening, testing and integrating. After thousands of years of inheritance and development,herbgenomics(bencaogenomics) has bridged the gap between TCM and international advanced omics studies, promoting the application of frontier technologies in TCM. It is a discipline that uncovers the genetic information and regulatory networks of herbs to clarify their molecular mechanism in the prevention and treatment of human diseases. The main theoretical system includes genomics, functional genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, epigenomics, metagenomics, synthetic biology, pharmacogenomics of TCM, and bioinformatics, among other fields. Herbgenomics is mainly applicable to the study of medicinal model plants, genomic-assisted breeding, herbal synthetic biology, protection and utilization of gene resources, TCM quality evaluation and control, and TCM drug development. 6VcFT-induced mobile florigenic signals in transgenic and transgrafted blueberries显示文摘FLOWERING LOCUS T(FT)can promote early flowering in annual species,but such role has not been well demonstrated in woody species.We produced self and reciprocal grafts involving non-transgenic blueberry(NT)and transgenic blueberry(T)carrying a 35S-driven blueberry FT(VcFT-OX).We demonstrated that the transgenic VcFT-OX rootstock promoted flowering of non-transgenic blueberry scions in the NT(scion):T(rootstock)grafts.We further analyzed RNASeq profiles and six groups of phytohormones in both NT:T and NT:NT plants.We observed content changes of several hormone metabolites,in a descending order,in the transgenic NT:T,non-transgenic NT:T,and non-transgenic NT:NT leaves.By comparing differential expression transcripts(DETs)of these tissues in relative to their control,we found that the non-transgenic NT:T leaves had many DETs shared with the transgenic NT:T leaves,but very few with the transgenic NT:T roots.Interestingly,a number of these shared DETs belong to hormone pathway genes,concurring with the content changes of hormone metabolites in both transgenic and non-transgenic leaves of the NT:T plants.These results suggest that phytohormones induced by VcFT-OX in the transgenic leaves might serve as part of the signals that resulted in early flowering in both transgenic plants and the non-transgenic NT:T scions.Guo-qing Song Aaron Walworth Tianyi Lin Qiuxia Chen Xiumei Han LIrina Zaharia Gan-yuan Zhong 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:3

9Selective immunoglobulin A deficiency(SIgAD)primarily leads to recurrent infections and autoimmune diseases:A retrospective study of Chinese patients in the past 40 years显示文摘Selective immunoglobulin A deficiency(SIgAD)is considered to be the most common human primary immune-deficiency disease in the world.However,the incidence in China is obviously lower than Caucasian races.The definition of SIgAD has changed over time with the progress of people’s understanding.The scientific community did not reach a consensus on the definition until 1999.As a result,many previously reported cases need to be excluded under the current definition.SIgAD can lead to several spectra of diseases including infections and autoimmune diseases.We retrospectively summarized the SIgAD patients in Peking Union Medical College Hospital(PUMCH),and summarized the Chinese SIgAD reported in China and abroad in past 40 years.Fourty three SIgAD patients were confirmed in the study,in which 9 were healthy without clinical symptoms.Of the 34 patients with clinical symptoms,recurrent infections were found in 29(85.3%)patients;13(38.2%)patients were with autoimmune diseases;6(17.6%)cases had allergic symptoms;3 patients(8.8%)were with tumors,only one case(2.9%)had a family history.Compared with other countries,sIgAD patients in China showed similar symptoms,but the rate of recurrent infections and autoimmune diseases were higher than some other countries;most of the allergic symptoms are drug allergy,different with the allergic sequelae reported in other countries,such as asthma,rhinitis,food allergy and atopic dermatitis;and it is rare to have family history in Chinese patients.We also figured out that more female SIgAD patients tend to have more autoimmune diseases than men(P=0.039).Wei Wang Tianhao Yao Tianyi Zhang Meiying Quan Changyan Wang Chen Wang Lejia Zhang Xiaoyan Tang Shan Jian Hongmei Song 2020Genes & Diseases2020,7,1:3
10Recent research progress in wettability of colloidal crystals显示文摘The wettability of solid surfaces has attracted extensive interest in both theoretical research and industrial applications. This paper reviews recent research progress in the fabrication and applications of the colloidal crystals with special wettability. Based on the modified equation of Wenzel and Cassie, the colloidal crystals with special wettability have been obtained by either application of the intrinsic rough structure or modification of the surface chemical composition. 13Overexpression of LPCAT1 enhances endometrial cancer stemness and metastasis by changing lipid components and activating TGF-β/Smad2/3 signaling pathway显示文摘The incidence of endometrial cancer(EC)increases annually and tends to occur in younger women.A particularly important relationship exists between EC and metabolic disorders.As one of the most important components of lipid metabolism,phospholipids play an indispensable role in metabolic balance.LPCAT1 is a key enzyme regulating phospholipid metabolism.In this study,we perform further investigations to seek mechanistic insight of LPCAT1 in EC.Our results demonstrate that silencing of LPCAT1 inhibits the growth of endometrial cancer,while overexpression of LPCAT1 results in enhanced stemness and metastasis in endometrial cancer cell lines.Meanwhile,the contents of various phospholipids including phosphatidylethanolamine(PE),phosphatidylcholine(PC),and triglyceride(TG)change significantly after overexpression of LPCAT1.In addition,through RNA-sequencing and western blot analysis,we observe that the TGF-β/Smad2/3 signaling pathway is of great importance in the tumor-promoting function of LPCAT1.LPCAT1 promotes the expressions of stem cell-related transcription factors and epithelialmesenchymal transition(EMT)related proteins through the TGF-β/Smad2/3 signaling pathway.Moreover,we find that TSI-01,which can inhibit the activity of LPCAT1,is able to restrain the proliferation of EC cell lines and promote cell apoptosis.Collectively,we demonstrate that LPCAT1 enhances the stemness and metastasis of EC by activating the TGF-β/Smad2/3 signaling pathway and that TSI-01 may have potential use for the treatment of EC.Tianyi Zhao Rui Sun Xiaohong Ma Lina Wei Yixin Hou Kun Song Jie Jiang 2022Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,7:2
14VcRR2 regulates chilling-mediated flowering through expression of hormone genes in a transgenic blueberry mutant显示文摘The molecular mechanism underlying dormancy release and the induction of flowering remains poorly understood in woody plants.Mu-legacy is a valuable blueberry mutant,in which a transgene insertion caused increased expression of a RESPONSE REGULATOR 2-like gene(VcRR2).Mu-legacy plants,compared with nontransgenic‘Legacy’plants,show dwarfing,promotion of flower bud formation,and can flower under nonchilling conditions.We conducted transcriptomic comparisons in leaves,chilled and nonchilled flowering buds,and late-pink buds,and analyzed a total of 41 metabolites of six groups of hormones in leaf tissues of both Mu-legacy and‘Legacy’plants.These analyses uncovered that increased VcRR2 expression promotes the expression of a homolog of Arabidopsis thaliana ENTCOPALYL DIPHOSPHATE SYNTHETASE 1(VcGA1),which induces new homeostasis of hormones,including increased gibberellin 4(GA4)levels in Mu-legacy leaves.Consequently,increased expression of VcRR2 and VcGA1,which function in cytokinin responses and gibberellin synthesis,respectively,initiated the reduction in plant height and the enhancement of flower bud formation of the Mu-legacy plants through interactions of multiple approaches.In nonchilled flower buds,29 differentially expressed transcripts of 17 genes of five groups of hormones were identified in transcriptome comparisons between Mu-legacy and‘Legacy’plants,of which 22 were chilling responsive.Thus,these analyses suggest that increased expression of VcRR2 was collectively responsible for promoting flower bud formation in highbush blueberry under nonchilling conditions.We report here for the first time the importance of VcRR2 to induce a suite of downstream hormones that promote flowering in woody plants.Tianyi Lin Aaron Walworth Xiaojuan Zong Gharbia H.Danial Elise M.Tomaszewski Pete Callow Xiumei Han L.Irina Zaharia Patrick P.Edger Gan-yuan Zhong Guo-qing Song 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:2
15Remediation of 2,4-dichlorophenol-contaminated groundwater using nano-sized CaO_(2)in a two-dimensional scale tank显示文摘This study evaluates the applicability of nano-sized calcium peroxide(CaO_(2))as a source of H_(2)O_(2)to remediate 2,4-dichlorophenol(2,4-DCP)contaminated groundwater via the advanced oxidation process(AOP).First,the effect and mechanism of 2,4-DCP degradation by CaO_(2)at different Fe concentrations were studied(Fenton reaction).We found that at high Fe concentrations,2,4-DCP almost completely degrades via primarily the oxidation of·OH within 5 h.At low Fe concentrations,the degradation rate of 2,4-DCP decreased rapidly.The main mechanism was the combined action of·OH and O_(2)^(·−).Without Fe,the 2,4-DCP degradation reached 13.6%in 213 h,primarily via the heterogeneous reaction on the surface of CaO_(2).Besides,2,4-DCP degradation was significantly affected by solution pH.When the solution pH was>10,the degradation was almost completely inhibited.Thus,we adopted a two-dimensional water tank experiment to study the remediation efficiency CaO_(2)on the water sample.We noticed that the degradation took place mainly in regions of pH<10(i.e.,CaO_(2)distribution area),both upstream and downstream of the tank.After 28 days of treatment,the average 2,4-DCP degradation level was≈36.5%.Given the inadequacy of the results,we recommend that groundwater remediation using nano CaO_(2):(1)a buffer solution should be added to retard the rapid increase in pH,and(2)the nano CaO_(2)should be injected copiously in batches to reduce CaO_(2)deposition.Tianyi Li Chengwu Zhang Jingyi Zhang Song Yan Chuanyu Qin 2021Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2021,15,5:2
16Bismuth-Based Free-Standing Electrodes for Ambient-Condition Ammonia Production in Neutral Media显示文摘Electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction is a carbon-free and energy-saving strategy for efficient synthesis of ammonia under ambient conditions.Here,we report the synthesis of nanosized Bi2O3 particles grown on functionalized exfoliated graphene(Bi2O3/FEG)via a facile electrochemical deposition method.The obtained free-standing Bi2O3/FEG achieves a high Faradaic efficiency of 11.2%and a large NH3 yield of 4.21±0.14μgNH3 h^-1 cm^-2 at-0.5 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode in 0.1 M Na2SO4,better than that in the strong acidic and basic media.Benefiting from its strong interaction of Bi 6p band with the N2p orbitals,binder-free characteristic,and facile electron transfer,Bi2O3/FEG achieves superior catalytic performance and excellent long-term stability as compared with most of the previous reported catalysts.This study is significant to design low-cost,high-efficient Bi-based electrocatalysts for electrochemical ammonia synthesis.Ying Sun Zizhao Deng Xi‑Ming Song Hui Li Zihang Huang Qin Zhao Daming Feng Wei Zhang Zhaoqing Liu Tianyi Ma 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,10:2
17Sulfonic groups functionalized Zr-metal organic framework for highly catalytic transfer hydrogenation of furfural to furfuryl alcohol显示文摘The highly selective catalytic transfer hydrogenation(CTH)of furfural(FF)to furfuryl alcohol(FOL)is a significant route of biomass valorization.Herein,a series microporous Zr-metal organic framework(ZrMOF)functionalized by sulfonic groups are prepared.Based on the comprehensive structural characterizations by means of X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),N2 physisorption,Thermogravimetric(TG)and Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),we find that sulfonic acid(–SO_(3)H)functional groups are tethered on the UIO-66 without affecting the structure of the framework.Systematic characterizations(NH_(3)-TPD,CO_(2)-TPD,and in-situ FTIR)demonstrate that modifying of sulfonic groups on UIO-66 results in the formation of stronger Lewis acidic-basic and Brnsted acidis sites.The cooperative role of the versatile Lewis acidic-basic and Brnsted acidic sites in 60%mol fraction of sulfonic acid-containing UIO-66(UIO-S_(0.6))retain high surface area and exhibit excellent catalytic performance of 94.7%FOL yield and 16.9 h^(-1).turnover number(TOF)under mild conditions.Kinetic experiments reveal that the activation energy of the CTH of furfural(FF)over UIO-S_(0.6) catalyst is as low as 50.8 k J mol^(-1).Besides,the hydrogen transfer mechanism is investigated through isotope labeling experiments,exhibiting that theβ-H in isopropanol is transferred to the a-C of FF by forming six-membered intermediates on the Lewis acidic-basic and Brnsted acidic sites of the UIO-S_(0.6),which is the rate-determining step in the formation of FOL.Jingcheng Wu Dong Liang Xiangbo Song Tingsen Liu Tianyi Xu Shuangyin Wang Yuqin Zou 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,8:2
