| 1 | Ecosystem Health Assessment of Honghu Lake Wetland of China Using Artificial Neural Network Approach显示文摘Honghu Lake,located in the southeast of Hubei Province,China,has suffered a severe disturbance during the past few decades.To restore the ecosystem,the Honghu Lake Wetland Protection and Restoration Demonstration Project(HLWPRDP) has been implemented since 2004.A back propagation(BP) artificial neural network(ANN) approach was applied to evaluatinig the ecosystem health of the Honghu Lake wetland.And the effectiveness of the HLWPRDP was also assessed by comparing the ecosystem health before and after the project.Particularly,12 ecosystem health indices were used as evaluation parameters to establish a set of three-layer BP ANNs.The output is one layer of ecosystem health index.After training and testing the BP ANNs,an optimal model of BP ANNs was selected to assess the ecosystem health of the Honghu Lake wetland.The result indicates that four stages can be identified based on the change of the ecosystem health from 1990 to 2008 and the ecosystem health index ranges from morbidity before the implementation of HLWPRDP(in 2002) to middle health after the implementation of the HLWPRDP(in 2005).It demonstrates that the HLWPRDP is effective and the BP ANN could be used as a tool for the assessment of ecosystem health. | MO Minghao WANG Xuelei WU Houjian CAI Shuming Xiaoyang ZHANG WANG Huiliang | 2009 | Chinese Geographical Science2009,19,4: | 21 |
| 2 | Broadband achromatic metalens in terahertz regime显示文摘Achromatic focusing is essential for broadband operation, which has recently been realised from visible to infrared wavelengths using a metasurface. Similarly, multi-terahertz functional devices can be encoded in a desired metasurface phase profile. However, metalenses suffer from larger chromatic aberrations because of the intrinsic dispersion of each unit element. Here, we propose an achromatic metalens with C-shaped unit elements working from 0.3 to 0.8 THz with a bandwidth of approximately 91% over the centre frequency. The designed metalens possesses a high working efficiency of more than 68% at the peak and a relatively high numerical aperture of 0.385. We further demonstrate the robustness of our Cshaped metalens, considering lateral shape deformations and deviations in the etching depth. | 3 | A novel approach of testability modeling and analysis for PHM systems based on failure evolution mechanism显示文摘Prognostics and health management (PHM) significantly improves system availability and reliability, and reduces the cost of system operations. Design for testability (DFT) developed concurrently with system design is an important way to improve PHM capability. Testability modeling and analysis are the foundation of DFT. This paper proposes a novel approach of testability modeling and analysis based on failure evolution mechanisms. At the component level, the fault progression-related information of each unit under test (UUT) in a system is obtained by means of failure modes, evolution mechanisms, effects and criticality analysis (FMEMECA), and then the failure-symptom dependency can be generated. At the system level, the dynamic attributes of UUTs are assigned by using the bond graph methodology, and then the symptom-test dependency can be obtained by means of the functional flow method. Based on the failure-symptom and symptom-test dependencies, testability analysis for PHM systems can be realized. A shunt motor is used to verify the application of the approach proposed in this paper. | 8 | Assessing the numbers of SNPs needed to establish molecular IDs and characterize the genetic diversityof soybean cultivars derived from Tokachi nagaha显示文摘The development of a core set of SNP molecular markers that could be widely used in soybean genetic research would greatly facilitate research into the genetic diversity of soybean.We conducted an analysis of Tokachi nagaha and 137 of its descendant soybean cultivars using 4044 SNP markers with the goal of determining the appropriate number of single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)needed to construct unambiguous molecular IDs and characterize genetic diversity based on a genetic distance matrix correlation method.When the number of SNPs was held constant,the number of accession pairs that could be distinguished increased as the polymorphism informative content(PIC)value of the SNPs increased.A core panel of 20 selected SNPs from 11 linkage groups with a mean PIC value of 0.3703 and a range of 0.3640–0.3749 was able to identify almost all of the accession pairs in our study[9445 pairs(99.92%)].The eight accession pairs that could not be identified with this core SNP set all originated from the same province and some of them had the same parental cultivars.The molecular IDs of the 138 accessions were constructed using the core 20 SNPs.It is known that both the number of SNPs and PIC values should be considered when SNPs are selected for use in the analysis of genetic diversity.In this study,when the PIC value was 0.3460,the correlation coefficient between the genetic distance matrices associated with a panel of 200 SNPs and the total population was>0.800,indicating satisfactory correlation.Our high-accuracy,high-resolution core SNP panel for germplasm fingerprinting and our findings about assessing genetic diversity will likely markedly improve the management and utilization efficiency of soybean germplasm resources. | Zhangxiong Liu Jun Li Xuhong Fan Nang Myint Phyu Sin Htwe Shuming Wang Wen Huang Jiyu Yang Lili Xing Lijun Chen Yinghui Li Rongxia Guan Ruzhen Chang Dechun Wang Lijuan Qiu | 2017 | The Crop Journal2017,5,4: | 10 |

| 10 | KD-S SiC_f/SiC composites with BN interface fabricated by polymer infiltration and pyrolysis process显示文摘Continuous silicon carbide fiber reinforced silicon carbide matrix(SiC_f/SiC) composites are attractive candidate materials for aerospace engine system and nuclear reactor system. In this paper, SiC_f/SiC composites were fabricated by polymer infiltration and pyrolysis(PIP) process using KD-S fiber as the reinforcement and the LPVCS as the precursor, while the BN interface layer was introduced by chemical vapor deposition(CVD) process using borazine as the single precursor. The effect of the BN interface layer on the structure and properties of the SiC_f/SiC composites was comprehensively investigated. The results showed that the BN interface layer significantly improved the mechanical properties of the KD-S SiC_f/SiC composites. The flexure strength and fracture toughness of the KD-S SiC_f/SiC composites were evidently improved from 314±44.8 to 818±39.6 MPa and 8.6± 0.5 to 23.0±2.2 MPa·m^(1/2), respectively. The observation of TEM analysis displayed a turbostratic structure of the CVD-BN interface layer that facilitated the improvement of the fracture toughness of the SiC_f/SiC composites. | 13 | Utilization of Coal Fly Ash for the Production of Glass-ceramics With Unique Performances: A Brief Review显示文摘Coal fly ash is an industrial by-product generated during the combustion of coal for energy production. Due to the increasing annual consumption of coal power and the serious potential environmental threats of coal fly ash, a considerable amount of research on the utilization of coal fly ash has been undertaken worldwide. Vitrification seems to be one of the most promising options for reusing this industrial waste. This paper presents a short overview of the production of unique high performance glass-ceramics using coal fly ash as a raw material. A detailed description of the methodologies for the synthesis of glass-ceramics from coal fly ash and the principal crystal phases, corresponding property and possible usage of those materials are introduced. Investigations revealed that converting coal fly ash into high performance glass-ceramic materials is a promising new approach to improve the utilization of this industrial by-product. | 14 | Elemental Content in Brown Rice by Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy Reveals the Evolution of Asian Cultivated Rice显示文摘The phylogenetic relationship for classification traits and eight mineral elements in brown rice(Oryza sativa L.) from Yunnan Province in China was carried out using microwave assisted digestion followed by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy,and the analytical procedures were carefully controlled and validated.In general,the results show that the mean levels of K,Ca,Mg,Fe and Cu in brown rice for 789 accessions of rice landraces was distinctly lower than that of improved cultivars.They further demonstrate that Ca plays an important role in the differentiation of subspecies indica-japonica,especially to enhance adaptation of cold stress,and that five mineral elements in brown rice enhance the eurytopicity from landrace to improved cultivar.Hierarchical cluster analysis,using average linkage from SPSS software based on eight mineral elements in brown rice,showed that Yunnan rice could be grouped into rice landrace and improved cultivar,with the rice landrace being further clustered into five subgroups,and that,interestingly,purple rice does not cluster with either of the groups.Our present data confirm that indica is the closest relative of late rice and white rice,and that they constitute rice landraces together,whereas japonica is the closest relatives of non-nuda,early-mid and glutinous rice.It is further shown that japonica,non-nuda,early-mid,glutinous,white and red rice might be more primitive than indica,nuda,late,non-glutinous and purple rice,respectively. | Yawen Zeng Luxiang Wang Juan Du Jiafu Liu Shuming Yang Xiaoying Pu Fenghui Xiao | 2009 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2009,51,5: | 4 |

| 16 | Enhanced sulfidization of azurite surfaces by ammonium phosphate and its effect on flotation显示文摘Although azurite is one of the most important copper oxide minerals,the recovery of this mineral via sulfidization-xanthate flotation is typically unsatisfactory.The present work demonstrated the enhanced sulfidization of azurite surfaces using ammonia phosphate((NH_(4))_(3)PO_(4)) together with Na_(2)S,based on micro-flotation experiments,time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry(ToF-SIMS),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),zeta-potential measurements,contact angle measurements,Fourier-transform infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,and ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)spectroscopy.Micro-flotation experiments showed that the floatability of azurite was increased following the simultaneous addition of(NH_(4))_(3)PO_(4)and Na_(2)S.ToF-SIMS and XPS analyses demonstrated the formation of a high content of S species on the azurite surface and an increase in the number of Cu(I)species after exposure to(NH_(4))_(3)PO_(4)and Na_(2)S,compared with the azurite-Na_(2)S system.The zeta potential of azurite particles was negatively shifted and the contact angle on the azurite surface was increased with the addition of(NH_(4))_(3)PO_(4)prior to Na_(2)S.These results indicate that treatment with(NH_(4))_(3)PO_(4) enhances the sulfidization of azurite surfaces,which in turn promotes xanthate attachment.FT-IR and UV-Vis analyses confirmed that the addition of(NH_(4))_(3)PO_(4) increased the adsorption of xanthate with reducing the consumption of xanthate during the azurite flotation process.Thus,(NH_(4))_(3)PO_(4) has a beneficial effect on the sulfidization flotation of azurite. | Qian Zhang Shuming Wen Qicheng Feng Han Wang | 2022 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2022,29,6: | 4 |
| 17 | Fabrication of Nanoscale Step Height Structure Using Atomic Layer Deposition Combined with Wet Etching显示文摘The current techniques used for the fabrication of nanosteps are normally done by layer growth and then ion beam thinning. There are also extra films grown on the step surfaces in order to reduce the roughness. So the whole process is time consuming. In this paper, a nanoscale step height structure is fabricated by atomic layer deposition(ALD) and wet etching techniques. According to the traceable of the step height value, the fabrication process is controllable. Because ALD technology can grow a variety of materials, aluminum oxide(Al_2O_3) is used to fabricate the nanostep. There are three steps of Al_2O_3 in this structure including 8 nm, 18 nm and 44 nm. The thickness of Al_2O_3 film and the height of the step are measured by anellipsometer. The experimental results show that the thickness of Al_2O_3 film is consistent with the height of the step. The height of the step is measured by AFM. The measurement results show that the height is related to the number of cycles of ALD and the wet etching time. The bottom and the sidewall surface roughness are related to the wet etching time. The step height is calibrated by Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt(PTB) and the results were 7.5±1.5 nm, 15.5±2.0 nm and 41.8±2.1 nm, respectively. | 18 | Optimal locations of monitoring stations in water distribution systems under multiple demand patterns: a flaw of demand coverage method and modification显示文摘A flaw of demand coverage method in solving optimal monitoring stations problem under multiple demand patterns was identified in this paper. In the demand coverage method, the demand coverage of each set of monitoring stations is calculated by accumulating their demand coverage under each demand pattern, and the impact of temporal distribution between different time periods or demand patterns is ignored. This could lead to miscalculation of the optimal locations of the monitoring stations. To overcome this flaw, this paper presents a Demand Coverage Index (DCI) based method. The optimization considers extended period unsteady hydrau- lics due to the change of nodal demands with time. The method is cast in a genetic algorithm framework for integration with Environmental Protection Agency Net (EPANET) and is demonstrated through example applica- tions. | 19 | Dynamic separation of Xe and Kr by metal-organic framework and covalent-organic materials: a comparison with activated charcoal显示文摘We systematically investigate dynamic separation of Xe and Kr at room temperature using four representative porous materials(Cu-BTC, ZIF-8, COP-4 and activated carbon(AC)). Results indicate that among the four materials, Cu-BTC not only shows the highest retention volume per gram(V_g=788 m L g^(-1), which is 1.8 times of activated carbon(436 m L g^(-1))) under flowing condition, but also can separate 350 ppm Xe from 35 ppm Kr mixture in air with a high Xe/Kr selectivity of 8.6 at room temperature and 200 k Pa, due to its suitable pore morphology, open metal sites, small side pockets in the framework. | 20 | Using loose nanofiltration membrane for lake water treatment:A pilot study显示文摘Nanofiltration(NF)using loose membranes has a high application potential for advanced treatment of drinking water by selectively removing contaminants from the water,while membrane fouling remains one of the biggest problems of the process.This paper reported a seven-month pilot study of using a loose NF membrane to treat a sand filtration effluent which had a relatively high turbidity(∼0.4 NTU)and high concentrations of organic matter(up to 5 mg/L as TOC),hardness and sulfate.Results showed that the membrane demonstrated a high rejection of TOC(by<90%)and a moderately high rejection of two pesticides(54%–82%)while a moderate rejection of both calcium and magnesium(∼45%)and a low rejection of total dissolved solids(∼27%).The membrane elements suffered from severe membrane fouling,with the membrane permeance decreased by 70%after 85 days operation.The membrane fouling was dominated by organic fouling,while biological fouling was moderate.Inorganic fouling was mainly caused by deposition of aluminum-bearing substances.Though inorganic foulants were minor contents on membrane,their contribution to overall membrane fouling was substantial.Membrane fouling was not uniform on membrane.While contents of organic and inorganic foulants were the highest at the inlet and outlet region,respectively,the severity of membrane fouling increased from the inlet to the outlet region of membrane element with a difference higher than 30%.While alkaline cleaning was not effective in removing the membrane foulants,the use of ethylenediamine tetraacetate(EDTA)at alkaline conditions could effectively restore the membrane permeance. | Danyang Liu Johny Cabrera Lijuan Zhong Wenjing Wang Dingyuan Duan Xiaomao Wang Shuming Liu Yuefeng F.Xie | 2021 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2021,15,4: | 3 |
