| 1 | Atorvastatin attenuates surgery-induced BBB disruption and cognitive impairment partly by suppressing NF-κB pathway and NLRP3 inflammasome activation in aged mice显示文摘In clinic,perioperative neurocognitive disorder is becoming a common complication of surgery in old patients.Neuroinflammation and blood-brain barrier(BBB)disruption are important contributors for cognitive impairment.Atorvastatin,as a strong HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor,has been widely used in clinic.However,it remains unclear whether atorvastatin could prevent anesthesia and surgery-induced BBB disruption and cognitive injury by its anti-inflammatory property.In this study,aged C57BL/6J mice were used to address this question.Initially,the mice were subject to atorvastatin treatment for 7 days(10 mg/kg).After a simple laparotomy under 1.5%isoflurane anesthesia,Morris water maze was performed to assess spatial learning and memory.Western blot analysis,immunohistochemistry,and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay were used to examine the inflammatory response,BBB integrity,and cell apoptosis.Terminal-deoxynucleotidyl transferase mediated nick end labeling assay was used to assess cell apoptosis.The fluorescein sodium and transmission electron microscopy were used to detect the permeability and structure of BBB.The results showed that anesthesia and surgery significantly injured hippocampal-dependent learning and memory,which was ameliorated by atorvastatin.Atorvastatin could also reverse the surgery-induced increase of systemic and hippocampal cytokines,including IL-1β,TNF-α,and IL-6,accompanied by inhibiting the nuclear factor kappa-B(NF-κB)pathway and Nucleotide-Binding Oligomerization Domain,or Leucine Rich Repeat and Pyrin Domain Containing 3(NLRP3)inflammasome activation,as well as hippocampal neuronal apoptosis.In addition,surgery triggered an increase of BBB permeability,paralleled by a decrease of the ZO-1,occludin,and Claudin 5 proteins in the hippocampus.However,atorvastatin treatment could protect the BBB integrity from the impact of surgery,by up-regulating the expressions of ZO-1,occludin,and Claudin 5.These findings suggest that atorvastatin exhibits neuroprotective effects on cognition in aged mice undergoing surgery. | Pengfei Liu Quansheng Gao Lei Guan Yanting Hu Jingwen Jiang Teng Gao Weixuan Sheng Xinying Xue Hui Qiao Tianzuo Li | 2021 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,5: | 6 |

| 6 | Integration of high-throughput phenotyping,GWAS,and predictive models reveals the genetic architecture of plant height in maize显示文摘Plant height(PH)is an essential trait in maize(Zea mays)that is tightly associated with planting density,biomass,lodging resistance,and grain yield in the field.Dissecting the dynamics of maize plant architecture will be beneficial for ideotype-based maize breeding and prediction,as the genetic basis controlling PH in maize remains largely unknown.In this study,we developed an automated high-throughput phenotyping platform(HTP)to systematically and noninvasively quantify 77 image-based traits(i-traits)and 20 field traits(f-traits)for 228 maize inbred lines across all developmental stages.Time-resolved i-traits with novel digital phenotypes and complex correlations with agronomic traits were characterized to reveal the dynamics of maize growth.An i-trait-based genome-wide association study identified 4945 traitassociated SNPs,2603 genetic loci,and 1974 corresponding candidate genes.We found that rapid growth of maize plants occurs mainly at two developmental stages,stage 2(S2)to S3 and S5 to S6,accounting for the final PH indicators.By integrating the PH-association network with the transcriptome profiles of specific internodes,we revealed 13 hub genes that may play vital roles during rapid growth.The candidate genes and novel i-traits identified at multiple growth stages may be used as potential indicators for final PH in maize.One candidate gene,ZmVATE,was functionally validated and shown to regulate PH-related traits in maize using genetic mutation.Furthermore,machine learning was used to build predictive models for final PH based on i-traits,and their performancewas assessed across developmental stages.Moderate,strong,and very strong correlations between predictions and experimental datasets were achieved from the early S4(tenth-leaf)stage.Colletively,our study provides a valuable tool for dissecting the spatiotemporal formation of specific internodes and the genetic architecture of PH,as well as resources and predictive models that are useful for molecular design breeding and predicting maize varieties with ideal plant architectures. | Weixuan Wang Weijun Guo Liang Le Jia Yu Yue Wu Dongwei Li Yifan Wang Huan Wang Xiaoduo Lu Hong Qiao Xiaofeng Gu Jian Tian Chunyi Zhang Li Pu | 2023 | Molecular Plant2023,16,2: | 1 |

| 8 | Emerging low-density polyethylene/paraffin wax/aluminum composite as a form-stable phase change thermal interface material显示文摘Thermal interface materials(TIMs) play a vital role in the thermal management of electronic devices and can significantly reduce thermal contact resistance(TCR). The TCR between the solid–liquid contact surface is much smaller than that of the solid–solid contact surface, but conventional solid–liquid phase change materials are likely to cause serious leakage. Therefore, this work has prepared a new formstable phase change thermal interface material. Through the melt blending of paraffin wax(PW) and low-density polyethylene(LDPE), the stability is improved and it has an excellent coating effect on PW. The addition of aluminum(Al) powder improves the low thermal conductivity of PW/LDPE, and the addition of 15wt% Al powder improves the thermal conductivity of the internal structure of the matrix by 67%. In addition, the influence of the addition of Al powder on the internal structure, thermal properties, and phase change behavior of the PW/LDPE matrix was systematically studied. The results confirmed that the addition of Al powder improved the thermal conductivity of the material without a significant impact on other properties, and the thermal conductivity increased with the increase of Al addition. | 16 | Poverty Decentralization or Reconcentration: An Empirical Study of the Effects of Collected Public Rental Housing in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province显示文摘Based on the supply-side reform objective, it is a great transformation of housing welfare measures in China to collect private unoccupied houses as public rental housing instead of building new ones. Through an empirical study of the Collecting Houses as Public Rental Housing Program in Changzhou, this paper finds that the collected houses is relatively scattered in the city, which is beneficial to avoiding over-centralization and marginalization of the poor families. However, it has resulted in poverty reconcentration in some old communities, probably further leading to spatial solidification of the poor as well as a further decline of old communities. Therefore it may not effectively solve the housing problems of the poor population by providing this alternative public rental housing, which is collected according to economic efficiency.
