| 1 | Graphene-enabled electrically controlled terahertz meta-lens显示文摘Metasurfaces have become a new photonic structure for providing potential applications to develop integrated devices with small thickness, because they can introduce an abrupt phase change by arrays of scatterers. To be applied more widely, active metasurface devices are highly desired. Here, a tunable terahertz meta-lens whose focal length is able to be electrically tuned by ~4.45λ is demonstrated experimentally. The lens consists of a metallic metasurface and a monolayer graphene. Due to the dependence of the abrupt phase change of the metasurface on the graphene chemical potential, which can be modulated using an applied gate voltage, the focal length is changed from 10.46 to 12.24 mm when the gate voltage increases from 0 to 2.0 V. Experimental results are in good agreement with the theoretical hypothesis. | 3 | Monolithic integration of MoS2-based visible detectors and GaN-based UV detectors显示文摘With the increasing demand for high integration and multi-color photodetection for both military and civilian applications, the research of multi-wavelength detectors has become a new research hotspot. However, current research has been mainly in visible dual-or multi-wavelength detectors, while integration of both visible light and ultraviolet(UV) dual-wavelength detectors has rarely been studied. In this work, large-scale and high-quality monolayer MoS2 was grown by the chemical vapor deposition method on transparent free-standing GaN substrate. Monolithic integration of MoS2-based visible detectors and GaN-based UV detectors was demonstrated using common semiconductor fabrication technologies such as photolithography, argon plasma etching, and metal deposition. High performance of a 280 nm and 405 nm dual-wavelength photodetector was realized.The responsivity of the UV detector reached 172.12 A/W, while that of the visible detector reached 17.5 A/W.Meanwhile, both photodetectors achieved high photocurrent gain, high external quantum efficiency, high normalized detection rate, and low noise equivalent power. | 4 | Construction of van der Waals substrates for largely mismatched heteroepitaxy systems using first principles显示文摘The high density of defects induced by large strains in largely mismatched heteroepitaxy systems, such as AlN and GaN, because of the large lattice and thermal mismatch between substrates and epilayers is the bottleneck problem. Graphene-assisted van der Waals(vdW) heteroepitaxy offers a new opportunity to resolve this problem. However, it suffers from the difficulty of nucleation. Here we theoretically assess the effects of five 2D materials for vdW heteroepitaxy of AlN and GaN, including graphene, hBN, MoS2, gC3N, and gC3N4, and provide physical insights using first-principle calculations. MoS2 and gC3N exhibit significant potential to overcome the shortcomings of graphene owing to their appropriate binding strengths and Al(or Ga)diffusion barriers. Moreover, the interface behavior between the epilayers and the substrates are carefully analyzed. | 5 | Highly efficient vectorial field manipulation using a transmitted tri-layer metasurface in the terahertz band显示文摘Polarization is a basic characteristic of electromagnetic waves that conveys much optical information owing to its many states.The polarization state is manipulated and controlled for optical information security,optical encryption,and optical communication.Metasurface devices provide a new way to manipulate wave-fronts of light.A single ultrathin metasurface device can generate and modulate several differently polarized light fields,and thus carries optical information in several different channels.Terahertz(THz)waves have become widely used as carrier waves for wireless communication.Compact and functional metasurface devices are in high demand for THz elements and systems.This paper proposes a tri-layer metallic THz metasurface for multi-channel polarization generation and phase modulation with a high efficiency of approximately 80%.An azimuthally polarized THz vectorial beam generator is realized and characterized for use as a THz polarization analyzer.The incident polarization angle can be observed graphically with high accuracy.Moreover,a vectorial hologram with eight channels for different linear polarization states is demonstrated experimentally.The information in different holograms can be hidden by choosing the polarization channel for detection.This work contributes to achieving multi-functional metasurface in the THz band and can benefit THz communication and optical information security. | Huan Zhao Xinke Wang Shutian Liu Yan Zhang | 2023 | Opto-Electronic Advances2023,6,2: | 2 |
| 6 | Micro-LED backlight module by deep reinforcement learning and micro-macro-hybrid environment control agent显示文摘This paper proposes a micro-LED backlight module with a distributed Bragg reflector(DBR) structure to achieve excellent micro-LED backlight module quality and uses deep reinforcement learning(DRL) architecture for optical design. In the DRL architecture, to solve the computing environment problems of the two extreme structures of micro-scale and macro-scale, this paper proposes an environment control agent and virtual-realistic workflow to ensure that the design environment parameters are highly correlated with experimental results. | 8 | Systematic dissection of disease resistance to southern corn rust by bulked-segregant and transcriptome analysis显示文摘Southern corn rust(SCR) is a destructive maize disease caused by Puccinia polysora Underw. To investigate the mechanism of SCR resistance in maize, a highly resistant inbred line, L119 A, and a highly susceptible line, Lx9801, were subjected to gene mapping and transcriptome analysis. Bulked-segregant analysis coupled with whole-genome sequencing revealed several quantitative trait loci(QTL) on chromosomes 1, 6, 8, and 10. A set of 25 genes, including two coiled-coil nucleotide-binding site leucine-rich repeat(CC-NBS-LRR) genes, were identified as candidate genes for a major-effect QTL on chromosome 10. To investigate the mechanism of SCR resistance in L119 A, RNA-seq of P. polysorainoculated and non-inoculated plants of L119 A and Lx9801 was performed. Unexpectedly, the number of differentially expressed genes in inoculated versus non-inoculated L119 A plants was about 10 times that of Lx9801, with only 29 common genes identified in both lines, suggesting extensive gene expression changes in the highly resistant but not in the susceptible line. Based on the transcriptome analysis, one of the CC-NBS-LRR candidate genes was confirmed to be upregulated in L119 A relative to Lx9801 independently of P. polysora inoculation. Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses indicated that transcription factors, as well as genes involved in defense responses and metabolic processes, were dominantly enriched, with the phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathway most specifically activated. Consistently, accumulation of phenylpropanoid-derived lignin, especially S lignin, was drastically increased in L119 A after P. polysora inoculation, but remained unchanged in Lx9801, suggesting a critical role of lignin in SCR resistance. | 9 | Strain enhancement for a MoS2-on-GaN photodetector with an Al2O3 stress liner grown by atomic layer deposition显示文摘Strain regulation as an effective way to enhance the photoelectric properties of two dimensional(2D)transition metal dichalcogenides has been widely employed to improve the performance of photovoltaic devices.In this work,tensile strain was introduced in multilayer MoS2 grown on GaN by depositing 3 nm of Al2O3 on the surface.The temperature dependent Raman spectrum shows that the thermal stability of MoS2 is improved by Al2O3.Theoretical simulations confirmed the existence of tensile strain on MoS2 covered with Al2O3,and the bandgap and electron effective mass of six layers of MoS2 decreased due to tensile strain,which resulted in an increase of electron mobility.Due to the tensile strain ffect,the photodetector with the Al2O3 stress liner achieved better performance under the illumination of 365 nm wavelength,including a higher responsivity of 24.6 A/W,photoconductive gain of 520,and external quantum fficiency of 8381%,which are more than twice the corresponding values of photodetectors without Al2O3.Our work provides an effective technical way for improving the performance of 2D material photodetectors. | ZHIWEN LI JIANGLIU LUO SHENGQUN HU QIANG LIU WENJIE Yu YOUMING LU XINKE LIU | 2020 | Photonics Research2020,8,6: | 1 |

| 11 | Age-related changes in cerebral angiogenesis and fetal liver kinase-1 expression after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion显示文摘Cerebral angiogenesis in the early stages after cerebral ischemia injury is essential for the recovery of nerve function, in which fetal liver kinase-1 (Flk-1), as a major regulator of vasculogenesis and angiogenesis, plays a very important role. Microvessel density (MVD) was greater in an aged model group compared with the young sham operated group (P < 0.01). MVD and the sum of the lumen area were decreased in the aged group at 1, 3, 6 and 12 days following ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury compared with the young model group (P < 0.05 and P < 0.01, respectively). Flk-1 protein and mRNA expression was greater in the aged model group when compared with the young sham operated group (P < 0.01). Flk-1 protein and mRNA expression was lower in the aged group at 1, 3, 6 and 12 days after I/R compared with the young model group (P < 0.01). Flk-1 expression in aged rats attenuated rapidly, but was still maintained at relatively higher levels at 12 days following I/R in younger rats. | 14 | Development and validation of a nomogram to predict cardiac death after radiotherapy for esophageal cancer显示文摘Background:Patients frequently die from cardiac causes after radiotherapy for esophageal cancer.Early detection of cardiac death risk in these patients is crucial to improve clinical decision‐making and prognosis.Thus,we modeled the risk of cardiac death after irradiation for esophageal cancer.Methods:A retrospective analysis of 37,599 esophageal cancer cases treated with radiotherapy in the SEER database between 2000 and 2018 was performed.The selected cases were randomly assigned to the model development group(n=26,320)and model validation group(n=11,279)at a ratio of 7:3.We identified the risk factors most commonly associated with cardiac death by least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression analysis(LASSO).The endpoints for model development and validation were 5‐and 10‐year survival rates.The net clinical benefit of the models was evaluated by decision curve analysis(DCA)and concordance index(C‐index).The performance of the models was further assessed by creating a receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC)and calculating the area under the curve(AUC).Kaplan‐Meier(K‐M)survival analysis was performed on the probability of death.Patients were classified according to death probability thresholds.Five‐and ten‐year survival rates for the two groups were shown using K‐M curves.Results:The major risk factors for cardiac death were age,surgery,year of diagnosis,sequence of surgery and radiotherapy,chemotherapy and a number of tumors,which were used to create the nomogram.The C‐indexes of the nomograms were 0.708 and 0.679 for the development and validation groups,respectively.DCA showed the good net clinical benefit of nomograms in predicting 5‐and 10‐year risk of cardiac death.The model exhibited moderate predictive power for 5‐and 10‐year cardiac mortality(AUC:0.833 and 0.854,respectively),and for the development and validation cohorts(AUC:0.76 and 0.813,respectively).Conclusions:Our nomogram may assist clinicians in making clinical decisions about patients undergoing radiotherapy for esophageal cancer based on early detection of cardiac death risk. | Xinfang Lv Xue Wu Kai Liu Xinke Zhao Chenliang Pan Jing Zhao Juan Chang Huan Guo Xiang Gao Xiaodong Zhi Chunzhen Ren Qilin Chen Hugang Jiang Chunling Wang Ying‐Dong Li | 2023 | Cancer Innovation2023,2,5: | 0 |
| 15 | Constructing recombinant replication-defective adenoviral vectors that express glucose transporter-1 through in vitro ligation显示文摘BACKGROUND: We constructed a homologous recombination bacterial method based on the pAdEasy system, a widely used system, for generating recombinant adenoviral vectors that express glucose transporter-1 (GLUT1) in rats. OBJECTIVE: This study was designed to investigate the feasibility of generating recombinant replication-defective adenoviral vectors that express GLUT1 in rats by in vitro ligation based on the Adeno-XTM system. DESIGN: An in vitro cell-based experiment. SETTING: This study was performed at the Linbaixin Medical Research Center of the Second Hospital Affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University and Central Laboratory for Prevention and Treatment of Tumor, Sun Yat-sen University between January and August 2004. MATERIALS: Male, adult, Sprague Dawley rats were used to extract total RNA from brain tissue. E. coli DH5 α and human embryonic kidney 293 cells (HEK293 cells) used in the present study were cryo-preserved by the Second Hospital Affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University. Rabbit anti-rat GLUT1 polyclonal antibody (Chemicon, U.S.A.) and primers (Shanghai Boya Bioengineering Co., Ltd) were also used. METHODS: E1/E3-deleted replication-defective adenoviral vectors were used. Using in vitro ligation, the target gene was first sub-cloned into a shuttle vector plasmid to obtain the fragment containing target gene expression cassettes by enzyme digestion. Subsequently, the fragment was co-transformed with linearized adenoviral backbone vector into the E. coli strain. The recombinant adenoviral plasmid was transfected into HEK293 cells to assembly recombinant adenoviral vectors with replication capabilities. The procedure was repeated several times for recombinant adenoviral vectors amplification. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Efficiency of recombinant adenoviral vectors to express the target gene was measured by gene and protein expression through polymerase chain reaction and Western Blot assays, respectively. RESULTS: Results demonstrated that recombinant adenoviral vectors successfully expressed GLUT1 protein, with a relative molecular mass of 55000 in HEK293 cells. These results suggest that recombinant adenoviral vectors obtained by homologous bacterial recombination feature high efficiency, rapidness, and simplicity. CONCLUSION: We successfully amplified the rat GLUT1 gene and constructed replication-defective adenoviral vectors expressing GLUT1. | 17 | Gas-blasting nanocapsules to accelerate carboplatin lysosome release and nucleus delivery for prostate cancer treatment显示文摘To improve therapeutic effect and reduce severely side effects of carboplatin(CBP),the gas-generating nanocapsules were developed to accelerate CBP lysosome release and nucleus delivery.CBP/SB-NC was prepared by co-loading CBP and NaHCO 3(SB)in nanocapsules using w/o/w emulsification solvent evaporation.They exhibited vesicle-like spherical morphology,uniform particle size and negative zeta potential.Reaching the tumor site with a relatively high concentration is the first step for CBP delivery and the results showed that CBP/SB-NC could effectively increase drug accumulation at tumor site.After that,the drug delivery carriers need to be internalized into tumor cells and the in vitro cellular uptake ability results showed CBP/SB-NC could be internalized into RM-1 cells more efficient than CBP solution.After internalized by RM-1 cells,the gas-blasting release process was tested in acid environment.It was demonstrated that 5 mg/ml NaHCO 3 was optimal to achieve pH-responsive gas-blasting release.In vitro release results showed that CBP significantly rapid release in acid environment(pH 5.0)compared to neutral pH(pH 7.4)(P<0.05).Meanwhile,TEM and the change of the concentration of H+results exhibited that the explosion of CBP/SB 5-NC was more easily happened in lysosome acid environment(pH 5.0).The blasting release can accelerate CBP lysosome release to cytoplasm.Furthermore,the nucleus delivery results showed CBP/SB 5-NC can promote pH-triggered rapid nucleus delivery.And the results of Pt-DNA adduct assay showed that the binding efficiency between CBP and DNA of CBP/SB 5-NC was higher than CBP solution.At last,in vitro and in vivo anti-tumor efficacy proved that CBP/SB 5-NC could enhance anti-tumor activity for prostate cancer therapy.CBP/SB 5-NC also showed superior safety in vitro and in vivo by hemolysis assay and histopathological study.All of the results demonstrate that CBP/SB 5-NC would be an efficient gas-blasting release formulation to enhance prostate cancer treatment. | Shunli Fu Shuang Liang Dandan Jiang Rui Yang Zipeng Zhang Lili Chang Xinke Zhang Yongjun Liu Na Zhang | 2021 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2021,16,2: | 0 |
