1Advances in Mg corrosion and research suggestions显示文摘Recent research is summarised with an emphasis on the use of Mg alloys for biodegradable medical applications.Mg melt purification using Zr has been shown to provide the opportunity to produce ultra-high-purity Mg alloys,which could lead to stainless Mg.Nor's solution may be a good starting model for the study of Mg for biodegradable medical implant applications.A systematic laboratory investigation is needed to elucidate the details of how the corrosion behaviour is controlled by the various constituents of the body fluids.In the evaluation of the Mg corrosion mechanism there is a critical lack of understanding of(i)the amount of hydrogen dissolved in the Mg metal during corrosion,and during anodic polarisation,and(ii)the size film-free area where corrosion occurs,and how to measure this area.In the evaluation of the apparent valence of Mg using an applied anodic current density,for reliable values,it is important to apply a sufficiently large applied current density.The available data are consistent with the slightly modified uni-positive Mg^(+)ion mechanism,which maintains that(i)the surface of Mg is covered by a partially protective film,and the film-free area increases as the potential becomes more positive(i.e.a catalytic activation process),(ii)corrosion occurs preferentially at breaks in the partial protective film,(iii)corrosion at the breaks in the partially protective film involves the uni-positive Mg ion,(iv)undermining of particles occurs when Mg is severely dissolved,and(v)there may be some self-corrosion not covered by these four processes,which may be associated with crevice-like features on a severely corroded surface or hydride dissolution at relatively negative potentials.Self-corrosion might also be possible under condition of essentially uniform corrosion.Mg^(+)has not been experimentally observed.Its existence is postulated as an extremely-short lifetime intermediate in the reaction sequence between metallic Mg and the equilibrium ion Mg^(++).There has been no direct experimental examination of this sequence,and a key challenge remains to devise an experimental approach to study the details of this reaction sequence and the intermediate steps.The apparent valence of Mg continues to be a critical question.If defendable values of effective valence for Mg less than 1.0 were measured,this would indicate that some phenomena contribute to these low values that are not currently accounted for in the uni-positive Mg^(+)corrosion mechanism.The most likely candidate would be self-corrosion.Andrej Atrens Guang-Ling Song Fuyong Cao Zhiming Shi Patrick K.Bowen 2013Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2013,1,3:19
2Rapid Detection of Filoviruses by Real-time TaqMan Polymerase Chain Reaction Assays显示文摘Ebola virus (EBOV) and Marburg virus (MARV) are causative agents of severe hemorrhagic fever with high mortality rates in humans and non-human primates and there is currently no licensed vaccine or therapeutics. To date, there is no specific laboratory diagnostic test in China, while there is a national need to provide differential diagnosis during outbreaks and for instituting acceptable quarantine procedures. In this study, the TaqMan RT-PCR assays targeting the nucleoprotein genes of the Zaire Ebolavirus (ZEBOV) and MARV were developed and their sensitivities and specificities were investigated. Our results indicated that the assays were able to make reliable diagnosis over a wide range of virus copies from 103 to 109, corresponding to the threshold of a standard RNA transcript. The results showed that there were about 1010 RNA copies per milliliter of virus culture supernatant, equivalent to 10,000 RNA molecules per infectious virion, suggesting the presence of many non-infectious particles. 3Multigene editing via CRISPR/Cas9 guided by a single-sgRNA seed in Arabidopsis显示文摘We report that a solo single-guide RNA(sg RNA) seed is capable of guiding Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPRàassociated 9(CRISRP/Cas_9) to simultaneously edit multiple genes At RPL_(10)A, At RPL_(10)B and At RPL_(10)C in Arabidopsis. Our results also demonstrate that it is possible to use CRISPR/Cas_9 technology to create At RPL_(10) triple mutants which otherwise cannot be generated by conventional genetic crossing. Compared to other conventional multiplex CRISPR/Cas systems, a single sg RNA seed has the advantage of reducing off-target gene-editing. 5Review of the atmospheric corrosion of magnesium alloys显示文摘Mg atmospheric corrosion is induced by a thin surface aqueous layer. Controlling factors are microgalvanic acceleration between different phases, protection by a continuous second phase distribution, protection by corrosion products, and degradation of protective layers by aggressive species such as chloride ions. The Mg atmospheric corrosion rate increases with relative humidity (RH) and concentrations of aggressive species. Temperature increases the corrosion rate unless a protective film causes a decrease.O2, SO2 and NO2 accelerate the atmospheric corrosion rate, whereas the corrosion rate is decreased by CO2. 6Microstructure modification and corrosion resistance enhancement of die-cast Mg-Al-Re alloy by Sr alloying显示文摘The effects of Sr additions on the microstructure and corrosion performance of a Mg-Al-RE alloy in 3.5 wt.%Na Cl saturated with Mg(OH)_(2) have been investigated.Microstructure examination reveals that the Sr addition introduces additional intermetallic phases,refines intermetallic networks and dendritic grains,and improves the network continuity.More Al and rare earth elements can be identified in the intermetallics and grain boundaries or inter-dendrite regions under a transmission electron microscope and secondary electron microscope,respectively.On the Sr-containing intermetallic phases and the refined microstructure,the oxide films become more protective,resulting in more corrosion resistant boundary areas and thus dendrite grain grooves.Hence,the presence of large amounts of intermetallics and boundaries can enhance the corrosion performance of the Mg-Al-RE alloy containing Sr.Matthew S.Dargusch Zhiming Shi Hanliang Zhu Andrej Atrens Guang-Ling Song 2021Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2021,9,3:5
7CO2 corrosion behaviors of 13Cr steel in the high-temperature steam environment显示文摘The study aims to explore the corrosion behaviors of 13Cr steel in the high-temperature steam environment.The corrosion behaviors of 13Cr steel were tested in CO2 auxiliary steam drive environment simulated with the HTHP autoclave.The corrosion morphology and product composition were explored by SEM,EDS,XRD and XPS.The exploration results showed the corrosion rate of 13Cr steel in the high-temperature steam environment was less than 0.04 mm/a.The corrosion behaviors of 13Cr steel were mainly affected by temperature and chloride ion concentration.Temperature inhibited steam condensation and the compactness of Cr-rich layer.With the increase in temperature,more droplets were adsorbed on the surface of 13Cr steel and the compactness of the Crrich layer is worse.Chloride ions affects the activity of Fe atoms in the metal matrix.When chloride concentration increased,Fe^2+concentration in the solution and FeCO3 content in the rich-Cr layer were increased and the rich-Cr layer became looser.Guoqing Xiao SiZhou Tan Zhiming Yu Baojun Dong Yonggang Yi Gang Tian Huiyong Yu Shanzhi Shi 2020Petroleum2020,6,1:5

9First-principle high-throughput calculations of carrier effective masses of two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides显示文摘Two-dimensional group-VIB transition metal dichalcogenides(with the formula of MX_2) emerge as a family of intensely investigated semiconductors that are promising for both electronic(because of their reasonable carrier mobility) and optoelectronic(because of their direct band gap at monolayer thickness) applications. Effective mass is a crucial physical quantity determining carriers transport, and thus the performance of these applications. Here we present based on first-principles high-throughput calculations a computational study of carrier effective masses of the two-dimensional MX_2 materials. Both electron and hole effective masses of different MX_2(M = Mo, W and X = S, Se, Te), including in-layer/out-of-layer components, thickness dependence, and magnitude variation in heterostructures, are systemically calculated. 10Monolithic integration of MoS2-based visible detectors and GaN-based UV detectors显示文摘With the increasing demand for high integration and multi-color photodetection for both military and civilian applications, the research of multi-wavelength detectors has become a new research hotspot. However, current research has been mainly in visible dual-or multi-wavelength detectors, while integration of both visible light and ultraviolet(UV) dual-wavelength detectors has rarely been studied. In this work, large-scale and high-quality monolayer MoS2 was grown by the chemical vapor deposition method on transparent free-standing GaN substrate. Monolithic integration of MoS2-based visible detectors and GaN-based UV detectors was demonstrated using common semiconductor fabrication technologies such as photolithography, argon plasma etching, and metal deposition. High performance of a 280 nm and 405 nm dual-wavelength photodetector was realized.The responsivity of the UV detector reached 172.12 A/W, while that of the visible detector reached 17.5 A/W.Meanwhile, both photodetectors achieved high photocurrent gain, high external quantum efficiency, high normalized detection rate, and low noise equivalent power. 11Construction of van der Waals substrates for largely mismatched heteroepitaxy systems using first principles显示文摘The high density of defects induced by large strains in largely mismatched heteroepitaxy systems, such as AlN and GaN, because of the large lattice and thermal mismatch between substrates and epilayers is the bottleneck problem. Graphene-assisted van der Waals(vdW) heteroepitaxy offers a new opportunity to resolve this problem. However, it suffers from the difficulty of nucleation. Here we theoretically assess the effects of five 2D materials for vdW heteroepitaxy of AlN and GaN, including graphene, hBN, MoS2, gC3N, and gC3N4, and provide physical insights using first-principle calculations. MoS2 and gC3N exhibit significant potential to overcome the shortcomings of graphene owing to their appropriate binding strengths and Al(or Ga)diffusion barriers. Moreover, the interface behavior between the epilayers and the substrates are carefully analyzed. 12Quantum engineering of non-equilibrium efficient p-doping in ultra-wide band-gap nitrides显示文摘Ultra-wide band-gap nitrides have huge potential in micro-and optoelectronics due to their tunable wide band-gap,high breakdown field and energy density,excellent chemical and thermal stability.However,their application has been severely hindered by the low p-doping efficiency,which is ascribed to the ultrahigh acceptor activation energy originated from the low valance band maximum.Here,a valance band modulation mode is proposed and a quantum engineering doping method is conducted to achieve high-efficient p-type ultra-wide band-gap nitrides,in which GaN quantum-dots are buried in nitride matrix to produce a new band edge and thus to tune the dopant activation energy.By non-equilibrium doping techniques,quantum engineering doped AIGaN:Mg with Al content of 60%is successfully fabricated.The Mg activation energy has been reduced to about 21 meV,and the hole concentration reaches higher than 10^(18)cm^(-3)at room temperature.Also,similar activation energies are obtained in AIGaN with other Al contents such as 50%and 70%;indicating the universality of the quantum engineering doping method.Moreover,deep-ultraviolet light-emission diodes are fabricated and the improved performance further demonstrates the validity and merit of the method.With the quantum material growth techniques developing,this method would be prevalently available and tremendously stimulate the promotion of ultra-wide band-gap semiconductor-based devices.Ke Jiang Xiaojuan Sun Zhiming Shi Hang Zang Jianwei Ben Hui-Xiong Deng Dabing Li 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,4:3
13Microsatellite DNA analysis proves nucleus of interspecies reconstructed blastocyst coming from that of donor giant panda显示文摘A method for DNA isolation from early development of blastocyst and further analysis of nuclear and mitochondrial DNA was developed in present study. Total DNA was prepared from interspecies reconstructed blastocyst and a giant panda specific microsatellite locus g010 was successfully amplified. DNA sequencing of the PCR product showed that two sequences of reconstructed blastocysts are the same as that of positive control giant panda. 14Obesity pandemic in China:epidemiology,burden,challenges,and opportunities显示文摘China faces a substantial burdensome pandemic of obesity.Recent data from the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention suggested that over an estimated 8.1%of Chinese adults(85 million Chinese adults)had obesity in 2018,which was three times the level in 2004.[1]To understand the trends of overweight and obesity in China,we accessed the country/territory-level year-specific data of age-standardized summary exposure value(SEV,standing for the pooled proportion among the population),deaths,and disability-adjusted life of years(DALYs)for high body mass index(BMI,high BMI was defined as the BMI level higher than theoretical minimum risk exposure level[25 kg/m2])and its associated diseases for 204 countries/territories between 1990 and 2019 using data from the Global Burden of Disease Collaborative Network.[2]Previous literature described detailed methods for the data synthesis.[3,4]Using the country/territory-level data by year,we calculated the estimated annual percentage changes(EAPCs)with 95%uncertainty intervals(UI)to estimate the annual changing patterns of age-standardized SEV,death,and DALY rates among 204 countries/territories.To compare statistics from China and other regions,we calculated the corresponding estimates from regions including global,North Africa and Middle East,Sub-Saharan Africa,Western Pacific Region,European Union,Latin America and Caribbean,and South Asia.Jing Li Qingyang Shi Qingyang Gao Xiong-Fei Pan Li Zhao Yazhou He Haoming Tian Zhiming Zhu Sheyu Li 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,,11:3
15Comparative WGBS identifies genes that influence non-ripe phenotype in tomato epimutant Colourless non-ripening显示文摘Whole-genome bisulfite sequencing(WGBS)allows single-base resolution and genome-wide profiling of DNA methylation in plants and animals.This technology provides a powerful tool to identify genes that are potentially controlled by dynamic changes of DNA methylation and demethylation.However,naturally occurring epimutants are rare and genes under epigenetic regulation as well as their biological relevances are often difficult to define.In tomato,fruit development and ripening are a complex process that involves epigenetic control.We have taken the advantage of the tomato epimutant Colourless non-ripening(Cnr)and performed comparative mining of the WGBS datasets for the Cnr and Sl CMT3-silenced Cnr fruits.We compared DNA methylation profiles for the promoter sequences of approximately 5,000 bp immediately upstream of the coding region of a list of20 genes.Differentially methylated regions were found for some of these genes.Virus-induced gene silencing(VIGS)of differentially methylated gene Sl DET1 or Sl PDS resulted in unusual brown pigmentation in Cnr fruits.These results suggest that comparative WGBS coupled with VIGS can be used to identify genes that may contribute to the colourless unripe phenotype of fruit in the Cnr epimutant.Weiwei Chen Zhiming Yu Junhua Kong Hui Wang Yichen Li Mei Zhao Xiaohong Wang Qianqian Zheng Nongnong Shi Pengcheng Zhang Silin Zhong Paul Hunter Mahmut Tor Yiguo Hong 2018Science China(Life Sciences)2018,61,2:3
16Polarization-enhanced AlGaN solar-blind ultraviolet detectors显示文摘AlGaN solar-blind ultraviolet detectors have great potential in many fields,although their performance has not fully meet the requirements until now.Here,we proposed an approach to utilize the inherent polarization effect of AlGaN to improve the detector performance.AlGaN heterostructures were designed to enhance the polarization field in the absorption layer,and a high built-in field and a high electron mobility conduction channel were formed.As a result,a high-performance solar-blind ultraviolet detector with a peak responsivity of 1.42 A/W at 10 V was achieved,being 50 times higher than that of the nonpolarization-enhanced one.Moreover,an electron reservoir structure was proposed to further improve the performance.A higher peak responsivity of 3.1 A/W at30 V was achieved because the electron reservoir structure could modulate the electron concentration in the conduction channel.The investigation presented here provided feasible approaches to improve the performance of the AlGaN detector by taking advantage of its inherent property.Ke Jiang Xiaojuan Sun Zi-Hui Zhang Jianwei Ben Jiamang Che Zhiming Shi Yuping Jia Yang Chen Shanli Zhang Wei Lv Dabing Li 2020Photonics Research2020,8,7:3

19Band structure engineering through van der Waals heterostructing superlattices of two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides显示文摘The indirect-to-direct band-gap transition in transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDCs)from bulk to monolayer,accompanying with other unique properties of two-dimensional materials,has endowed them great potential in optoelectronic devices.The easy transferability and feasible epitaxial growth pave a promising way to further tune the optical properties by constructing van der Waals heterostructures.Here,we performed a systematic high-throughput first-principles study of electronic structure and optical properties of the layerby-layer stacking TMDCs heterostructing superlattices,with the configuration space of[(MX2)n(M0X02)10−n](M/M0=Cr,Mo,W;X/X0=S,Se,Te;n=0-10).Our calculations involving long-range dispersive interaction show that the indirect-to-direct band-gap transition or even semiconductor-to-metal transition can be realized by changing component compositions of superlattices.Further analysis indicates that the indirect-to-direct band-gap transition can be ascribed to the in-plane strain induced by lattice mismatch.The semiconductor-to-metal transition may be attributed to the band offset among different components that is modified by the in-plane strain.The superlattices with direct band-gap show quite weak band-gap optical transition because of the spacial separation of the electronic states involved.In general,the layers stacking-order of superlattices results in a small up to 0.2 eV band gap fluctuation because of the built-in potential.Our results provide useful guidance for engineering band structure and optical properties in TMDCs heterostructing superlattices.Xin-Gang Zhao Zhiming Shi Xinjiang Wang Hongshuai Zou Yuhao Fu Lijun Zhang 2021InfoMat2021,3,2:2
20miR-20b-5p attenuates hypoxia-induced apoptosis in cardiomyocytes via the HIF-1α/NF-κB pathway显示文摘Chronic hypoxia is a common inducer of end-stage cardiovascular disease.In cells under hypoxia,the hypoxia-inducible factor-1(HIF-1)plays a vital role in regulating downstream target genes.However,the mechanism of hypoxia in card io myocytes is still unclear.In this study,we aimed to identify novel downstream epigenetic targets of HIF-1α in cardiomyocytes under hypoxia.H9c2 cells were exposed to hypoxia condition,and quantitative real-time PCR analysis was performed to evaluate the expression of miR-20b-5p.The results indicated that the expression of miR-20b-5p was down-regulated in H9c2 cells under low oxygen condition.Meanwhile,HIF-1α overexpression further down-regulated the miR-20b-5p expression in H9c2 cells transfected with HIF-1α plasmids.In addition,Annexin-V-FITC/PI flow cytometry analysis suggested that overexpression of miR-20b-5p attenuated cell apoptosis under hypoxia condition in H9c2 cells.Western blot analysis showed that the hypoxia apparently increased Bax and cleaved-caspase-3,but decreased Bcl-2 expression in H9c2 cells,indicating that hypoxia-induced NF-κB signaling pathway activation is mediated by miR-20b-5p.Hypoxia-induced H9c2 cell apoptosis was reduced after HIF-1α knockdown as shown by the flow cytometry analysis.In conclusion,we identified that miR-20b-5p plays an important role in mediating cardiomyocytes apoptosis under hypoxia,which is mediated by the HIF-1/NF-κB signaling pathway.Zhongquan Zhou Songwen Chen Zhiming Tian Shibing Deng Xuying Yi Shaning Yang Xuexin Yang Lijun Jin Wanqing Shi 2020Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,9:2
