| 1 | Exercise as a prescription for patients with various diseases显示文摘A growing understanding of the benefits of exercise over the past few decades has prompted researchers to take an interest in the possibilities of exercise therapy.Because each sport has its own set of characteristics and physiological complications that tend to occur during exercise training,the effects and underlying mechanisms of exercise remain unclear.Thus,the first step in probing the effects of exercise on different diseases is the selection of an optimal exercise protocol.This review summarizes the latest exercise prescription treatments for 26 different diseases:musculoskeletal system diseases(low back pain,tendon injury,osteoporosis,osteoarthritis,and hip fracture),metabolic system diseases(obesity,type 2 diabetes,type 1 diabetes,and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease),cardio-cerebral vascular system diseases(coronary artery disease,stroke,and chronic heart failure),nervous system diseases(Parkinson’s disease,Huntington’s disease,Alzheimer’s disease,depression,and anxiety disorders),respiratory system diseases(chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,interstitial lung disease,and after lung transplantation),urinary system diseases(chronic kidney disease and after kidney transplantation),and cancers(breast cancer,colon cancer,prostate cancer,and lung cancer).Each exercise prescription is displayed in a corresponding table.The recommended type,intensity,and frequency of exercise prescriptions are summarized,and the effects of exercise therapy on the prevention and rehabilitation of different diseases are discussed. | Xin Luan Xiangyang Tian Haixin Zhang Rui Huang Na Li Peijie Chen Ru Wang | 2019 | Journal of Sport and Health Science2019,8,5: | 61 |

| 4 | Variation in needle and cone traits in natural populations of Pinus yunnanensis显示文摘Pinus yunnanensis Franch. is a major component of coniferous forests in southwestern China. Little is known about its intraspecific variation. Morphological variations in needle and cone traits of P. yunnanensis were analyzed to quantify variability among and within natural populations.Seven traits were measured on 10 needles collected from 30 trees in each of the 18 sampled populations of P. yunnanensis. Four cone traits were measured in 221 individual trees from nine populations. The results showed that there were significant differences(p \ 0.01) both among populations and within populations in each needle and cone trait.The proportion of phenotypic variation of nearly all needle and cone traits was over 50 % within populations, which showed trees within populations accounted for a majority of the total variation. The needle traits showed higher variability within population than cone traits. Variability in theneedle traits was correlated with geo-climatic parameters(longitude, latitude, altitude, temperature, and precipitation).Needle length and the ratio of needle length to fascicle sheath length showed clinal variation in response to latitudinal and altitudinal gradients. A hierarchical classification of all populations based on needle traits led to the formation of four major groups. The findings provide important genetic information for the evaluation of variation. | 5 | Identification of a denitrifying bacterium and verification of its anaerobic ammonium oxidation ability显示文摘A strain D3 of denitrifying bacterium was isolated from an anammox reactor,and identi-fied as Pseudomonas mendocina based on the morphological and physiological assay,Vitek test,Biolog test,(G+C) mol% content,and 16S rDNA phylogenetic analysis.As a typical denitrifying bac-terium,strain D3 achieved the maximal nitrate reduction rate of 26.2 mg/(L·d) at the nitrate concen-tration of 88.5 mg N/L.The optimal pH and growth temperature were 7.84 and 34.9℃,respectively.Strain D3 was able to oxidize ammonia under anaerobic condition.The maximum nitrate and ammo-nium utilization rates were 6.37 mg/(L·d) and 3.34 mg/(L·d) ,respectively,and the consumption ratio of ammonia to nitrate was 1:1.91.Electron microscopic observation revealed peculiar cell inclusions in strain D3.Because of its relation to anammox activity,strain D3 was presumed to be anammoxosome.The present investigation proved that denitrifying bacteria have the anammox ability,and the results have engorged the range of anammox populations. | HU Baolan ZHENG Ping LI Jinye XU Xiangyang JIN Rencun | 2006 | Science China(Life Sciences)2006,49,5: | 13 |
| 6 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. | 7 | The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. | 9 | Preparation of special silicon steel grade MgO from hydromagnesite显示文摘A preparation technology of MgO powder used in special silicon steel from hydromagnesite mineral has been developed. The preparation technology includes the following steps: (1) calcining the hydromagnesite at 700-750°C for 1.5-2 h; (2) hydrating the calcined hydromagnesite to be slurry containing the solid-liquid ratio of 15-20 g?L?1; (3) acquiring Mg(HCO3)2 solution by carbonating the slurry, the carbonation temperature, CO2 pressure, and end point PH value of carbonation are less than 40°C, 0.4-0.6 MPa, and 7 respectively during the carbonation process; (4) preparing precipitated basic magnesium carbonate by thermally decomposing the Mg(HCO3)2 solution at 90-100°C; (5) obtaining the MgO product by calcining the precipitated basic magnesium carbonate at 850-950°C for 30-60 min, and adopting flowing nitrogen during the cooling process. | 10 | Starch/polyvinyl alcohol blended materials used as solid carbon source for tertiary denitrification of secondary efuent显示文摘Starch/polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) blended materials for using as a solid carbon source(SCS) were prepared by blending PVA and gelatinized starch in an aqueous solution system, in which PVA served as framework material and starch as carbon source. The optimization of starch content and temperature efects were investigated. It was indicated that higher denitrification efciency could be achieved with more starch in the materials. The average specific denitrification rates were 0.93, 0.66, 0.37 and 0.36 mg/(g·day)corresponding to starch content of 70%, 60%, 40% and 30% respectively at 37°C. The denitrification rates increased when operating temperature was raised from 23°C to 30°C and then 37°C. The mechanism of carbon release was analyzed incorporating the experimental results of abiotic release in deionized water. The organic carbon was mainly hydrolyzed by microbes, and the biological release efciencies were at the range of 89.2% to 96.0%. A long-term experiment with a continuous flow reactor with SCS material containing 70% starch was conducted to gain some experience for practical application. When the influent nitrate concentration was in the range of 35.2 to 39.1 mg/L, hydraulic retention time of 4 hr, and operating temperature of 30°C, a nitrogen removal efciency up to94.6% and denitrification rate of 0.217 kg/(m3·day) was achieved. | 13 | Effect of Cyclocarya paliurus polysaccharides on streptozotocin-induced diabetic nephropathy in rats显示文摘OBJEVTIVE:To investigate the efficacy of Cyclocarya paliurus(C.paliurus)polysaccharides on streptozotocin-induced diabetic nephropathy in rats.METHODS:Rats were divided into 6 groups,including group of normal control,group of diabetic control,group of metformin treatment,low-dose group of C.paliurus polysaccharides treatment,middle-dose group of C.paliurus polysaccharides treatment and high-dose group of C.paliurus polysaccharides treatment.Histological analysis of kidney was analyzed using hematoxilin and eosin.Levels of blood glucose,creatinine,urea,uric acid were determined by spectrophotometry.Anti-oxidative enzymes were measured by real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR)and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Advanced glycation end products(AGEs)and transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1)level was measured by ELISA.RESULTS:Abnormal changes were observed in the group of diabetic control characterized by atrophy of the renal glomeruli with hypercellularity,congestion of glomerular tufts,dilation of the renal spaces,and degeneration of renal tubule.Compared with that of normal group,blood glucose,creatinine,urea,uric acid level was significantly increased in the group of diabetic control.Superoxide dismutase,catalase,glutathione peroxidase,glutathione reductase level was significantly decreased,but AGEs and TGF-β1 level was significantly increased.By contrast,administration of C.paliurus polysaccharides and metformin could reverse the above-mentioned results of the group of diabetic control,especially in the high-dose group of C.paliurus polysaccharides.CONCLUSION:Our findings suggest that C.paliurus polysaccharides may play a protecting role for nephropathy of diabetic rats by lowering glucose,creatinine,urea,uric acid level,enhancing the antioxidative ability,and reducing AGEs and TGF-β1 expression. | Xia Xichao Mao Dongxue Dai Hongmei Wu Xi Zhang Zuyuan Wang Huaying Zhou Wenwen Dong Yanmei Wang Mengqi Li Yuan Shao Xiangyang Ouyang Jingfeng | 2020 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,6: | 9 |

| 16 | Endothelium-Mimicking Multifunctional Coating Modified Cardiovascular Stents via a Stepwise Metal-Catechol-(Amine)Surface Engineering Strategy显示文摘Stenting is currently the major therapeutic treatment for cardiovascular diseases.However,the nonbiogenic metal stents are inclined to trigger a cascade of cellular and molecular events including inflammatory response,thrombogenic reactions,smooth muscle cell hyperproliferation accompanied by the delayed arterial healing,and poor reendothelialization,thus leading to restenosis along with late stent thrombosis.To address prevalence critical problems,we present an endothelium-mimicking coating capable of rapid regeneration of a competently functioning new endothelial layer on stents through a stepwise metal(copper)-catechol-(amine)(MCA)surface chemistry strategy,leading to combinatorial endothelium-like functions with glutathione peroxidase-like catalytic activity and surface heparinization.Apart from the stable nitric oxide(NO)generating rate at the physiological level(2:2×10^(-10) mol/cm^(2)/min lasting for 60 days),this proposed strategy could also generate abundant amine groups for allowing a high heparin conjugation efficacy up to∼1μg/cm^(2),which is considerably higher than most of the conventional heparinized surfaces.The resultant coating could create an ideal microenvironment for bringing in enhanced antithrombogenicity,anti-inflammation,anti-proliferation of smooth muscle cells,re-endothelialization by regulating relevant gene expressions,hence preventing restenosis in vivo.We envision that the stepwise MCA coating strategy would facilitate the surface endothelium-mimicking engineering of vascular stents and be therefore helpful in the clinic to reduce complications associated with stenosis. | Ying Yang Peng Gao Juan Wang Qiufen Tu Long Bai Kaiqin Xiong Hua Qiu Xin Zhao Manfred FMaitz Huaiyu Wang Xiangyang Li Qiang Zhao Yin Xiao Nan Huang Zhilu Yang | 2020 | Research2020,,1: | 8 |
| 17 | Lotus seed skin proanthocyanidin extract exhibits potent antioxidant property via activation of the Nrf2-ARE pathway显示文摘Lotus seed is well known as traditional food and medicine,but its skin is usually discarded.Recent studies have shown that lotus seed skin contains a high concentration of proanthocyanidins that have multi-functions,such as antioxidation,anti-inflammation,and anti-cancer effects.In the present study,we aimed to isolate and purify the proanthocyanidins from lotus seed skin by acetone extraction and rotary evaporation,identify their chemical structures by HPLC-MS-MS and NMR,and further investigate the antioxidant properties of the extract purified by macroporous resin (PMR) from lotus seed skin both in vitro and in vivo.The results showed that PMR mainly contained oligomeric proanthocyanidins,especially dimeric procyanidin B1 (PB1),procyanidin B2 and procyanidin B4.Although it had limited ability to directly scavenge radicals in vitro,PMR could significantly enhance the expressions of antioxidant proteins via activation of nuclear factory-related factor 2 (Nrf2)-antioxidant response element (ARE) pathway in HepG2 cells.Molecular data revealed that PB1,a major component in PMR,stabilized Nrf2 by inhibiting the ubiquitination of Nrf2,which led to subsequent activation of the Nrf2-ARE pathway,including the enhancements of Nrf2 nuclear translocation,Nrf2-ARE binding and ARE transcriptional activity.Moreover,the in vivo results in high fat diet-induced mice further verified the powerful antioxidant property of PMR.These results revealed that lotus seed skin is a promising resource for functional food development. | Tao Li Qili Li Weiguo Wu Yong Li De-xing Hou Hua Xu Baodong Zheng Shaoxiao Zeng Yang Shan Xiangyang Lu Fangming Deng Si Qin | 2019 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2019,51,1: | 8 |

The application of these technologies in basic biomedical research has yielded significant advances in identifying and studying key molecular targets relevant to human diseases and their treatment. The clinical translation of genome editing techniques offers unprecedented biomedical engineering capabilities in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of disease or disability. Here, we provide a general summary of emerging biomedical applications of genome editing, including open challenges. | 20 | High-quality de novo assembly of the Eucommia ulmoides haploid genome provides new insights into evolution and rubber biosynthesis显示文摘We report the acquisition of a high-quality haploid chromosome-scale genome assembly for the first time in a tree species,Eucommia ulmoides,which is known for its rubber biosynthesis and medicinal applications.The assembly was obtained by applying PacBio and Hi–C technologies to a haploid that we specifically generated.Compared to the initial genome release,this one has significantly improved assembly quality.The scaffold N50(53.15 MB)increased 28-fold,and the repetitive sequence content(520 Mb)increased by 158.24 Mb,whereas the number of gaps decreased from 104,772 to 128.A total of 92.87%of the 26,001 predicted protein-coding genes identified with multiple strategies were anchored to the 17 chromosomes.A new whole-genome duplication event was superimposed on the earlierγpaleohexaploidization event,and the expansion of long terminal repeats contributed greatly to the evolution of the genome.The more primitive rubber biosynthesis of this species,as opposed to that in Hevea brasiliensis,relies on the methylerythritol-phosphate pathway rather than the mevalonate pathway to synthesize isoprenyl diphosphate,as the MEP pathway operates predominantly in trans-polyisoprene-containing leaves and central peels.Chlorogenic acid biosynthesis pathway enzymes were preferentially expressed in leaves rather than in bark.This assembly with higher sequence contiguity can foster not only studies on genome structure and evolution,gene mapping,epigenetic analysis and functional genomics but also efforts to improve E.ulmoides for industrial and medical uses through genetic engineering. | Yun Li Hairong Wei Jun Yang Kang Du Jiang Li Ying Zhang Tong Qiu Zhao Liu Yongyu Ren Lianjun Song Xiangyang Kang | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 7 |
