| 2 | Toxicity evaluation in a paper recycling mill effluent by coupling bioindicator of aging with the toxicity identification evaluation method in nematode Caenorhabditis elegans显示文摘Toxicity identification evaluation (TIE) can be used to determine the specific toxicant(s) in industrial effluents.In the current study,the authors have attempted to combine the advantages of the model organism,Caenorhabditis elegans,with the virtues of the TIE technique,to evaluate and identify the toxicity on aging from a paper recycling mill effluent.The results indicate that only the toxicities from mixed cellulose (MC) filtration and EDTA treatment are similar to the baseline aging toxicity,suggesting that the suspect toxicants inducing aging toxicity may largely be the heavy metal substances in this industrial effluent.Examination of the accumulation of intestinal autofluorescence in adult animals further confirms that the short lifespans are actually due to accelerated aging.In addition,exposure to fractions of EDTA manipulations cannot result in severe defects of reproduction and locomotion behaviors in C.elegans.Moreover,high levels of Ca,Al,and Fe in the effluent may account for the severe toxicity on aging of exposed nematodes,by TIE assay.The study here provides a new method for evaluating environmental risk and identifying toxicant(s) from the industrial effluent using C.elegans. | WANG, Xiaoyi SHEN, Lulu YU, Hongxia WANG, Dayong | 2008 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2008,20,11: | 11 |

| 5 | Preparation of Monodisperse Spherical SiO_2 by Microwave Hydrothermal Method and Kinetics of Dehydrated Hydroxyl显示文摘Monodisperse spherical SiO2 particles were successfully synthesized in 2-propanol-H2O-NH3 system by the microwave hydrothermal method using ammonia as catalyst. To investigate the influences on the size of spherical SiO2 particles, factors such as ammonia concentration, reaction temperature, stirring intensity and reactants mol ratio have been studied. The orthogonal experiments were carried out. The as-prepared SiO2 particles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). The results indicated that the size of SiO2 particles increased greatly with the increase in ammonia concentration, temperature and reactants mol ratio, but increased slightly with the increase in stirring intensity. Monodisperse spherical SiO2 particles were amorphous with perfect sphere and uniform size. Hydroxyl was detected in SiO2. | 9 | Dental plaque-inspired versatile nanosystem for caries prevention and tooth restoration显示文摘Dental caries is one of the most prevalent human diseases resulting from tooth demineralization caused by acid production of bacteria plaque.It remains challenges for current practice to specifically identify,intervene and interrupt the development of caries while restoring defects.In this study,inspired by natural dental plaque,a stimuli-responsive multidrug delivery system(PMs@NaF-SAP)has been developed to prevent tooth decay and promote enamel restoration.Classic spherical core-shell structures of micelles dual-loaded with antibacterial and restorative agents are self-assembled into bacteria-responsive multidrug delivery system based on the pH-cleavable boronate ester bond,followed by conjugation with salivary-acquired peptide(SAP)to endow the nanoparticle with strong adhesion to tooth enamel.The constructed PMs@NaF-SAP specifically adheres to tooth,identifies cariogenic conditions and intelligently releases drugs at acidic pH,thereby providing antibacterial adhesion and cariogenic biofilm resistance,and restoring the microarchitecture and mechanical properties of demineralized teeth.Topical treatment with PMs@NaF-SAP effectively diminishes the onset and severity of caries without impacting oral microbiota diversity or surrounding mucosal tissues.These findings demonstrate this novel nanotherapy has potential as a promising biomedical application for caries prevention and tooth defect restoration while resisting biofilm-associated diseases in a controlled manner activated by pathological bacteria. | Yue Xu Yuan You Luyao Yi Xiaoyi Wu Yaning Zhao Jian Yu He Liu Ya Shen Jingmei Guo Cui Huang | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,2: | 3 |
| 10 | Choroidal thickness and choriocapillaris vascular density in myopic anisometropia显示文摘Background:This study aims to examine interocular differences in the choroidal thickness and vascular density of the choriocapillaris in anisometropic myopes and to further explore the relationship between choroidal blood flow and myopia.Methods:The sample comprised 44 participants with anisometropic myopia,aged 9 to 18 years,with normal bestcorrected visual acuity.All participants underwent a series of examinations,including spherical equivalent refraction(SER)and axial length(AL),measured by a Lenstar optical biometer and optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)scanner.OCT measured the choroidal thickness,vascular density,and flow voids of the choriocapillaris,and a customized algorithm was implemented in MATLAB R2017a with the post-correction of AL.The choroidal thickness was measured at the fovea and 0.5,1.0,1.5,2.0,2.5,and 3.0 mm nasally,temporally,inferiorly,and superiorly to the fovea.The vascular density and the flow voids of the choriocapillaris were measured at a 0.6-mm-diameter central circle,and the 0.6-2.5 mm diameter circle in the nasal,temporal,inferior,and superior regions.Repeated-measured ANOVAs were used to analyze the interocular differences.Partial correlations with the K value and age adjustments were used to study the relationships between the choroidal thickness,the choriocapillaris vascular density and flow voids,the SER and AL.Results:The choroidal thickness of the more myopic eyes was significantly thinner than less myopic eyes(P≤0.001),and the flow voids in the more myopic eyes were more than less myopic eyes(P=0.002).There was no significant difference in the vascular density of the choriocapillaris between the more and less myopic eyes(P=0.525).However,when anisometropia was more than 1.50 D,the vascular density of choriocapillaris in the more myopic eyes was significantly less than the less myopic eyes(P=0.026).The interocular difference of the choroidal thickness was significantly correlated with the interocular difference in SER and AL in the center,superior,and inferior regions but not in the nasal or temporal regions.The interocular differences of the vascular density and the flow voids of the choriocapillaris were not correlated with the interocular difference of SER and AL.Conclusions:The choroidal thickness is thinner in the more myopic eyes.The flow void is increased,and the vascular density of the choriocapillaris is reduced in the more myopic eyes of children with anisometropia exceeding 1.50 D. | Xinting Liu Zhiyi Lin Feifu Wang Xiaoyi Peng Wenwen He Dan Chen Meixiao Shen Fan Lu Jun Jiang | 2021 | Eye and Vision2021,8,1: | 3 |

The influences of the reaction temperature, the OH-/Zn2+ mol ratio and the reaction time on the morphologies of the ZnO powders were discussed. The reaction conditions were obtained, under which the ZnO of flower-like particles, micro-rods and flake particles was synthesized, respectively. The crystal structures and morphologies of those ZnO particles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The ZnO with flower-like structures was composed of lots of micro-rods with hexagon morphology. The XRD patterns indicated that the ZnO powders were hexagonal wurtzite structures with high purity. | 13 | Real-time whole-brain imaging of hemodynamics and oxygenation at micro-vessel resolution with ultrafast wide-field photoacoustic microscopy显示文摘High-speed high-resolution imaging of the whole-brain hemodynamics is critically important to facilitating neurovascular research.High imaging speed and image quality are crucial to visualizing real-time hemodynamics in complex brain vascular networks,and tracking fast pathophysiological activities at the microvessel level,which will enable advances in current queries in neurovascular and brain metabolism research,including stroke,dementia,and acute brain injury.Further,real-time imaging of oxygen saturation of hemoglobin(sO_(2))can capture fast-paced oxygen delivery dynamics,which is needed to solve pertinent questions in these fields and beyond.Here,we present a novel ultrafast functional photoacoustic microscopy(UFF-PAM)to image the whole-brain hemodynamics and oxygenation.UFF-PAM takes advantage of several key engineering innovations,including stimulated Raman scattering(SRS)based dual-wavelength laser excitation,water-immersible 12-facet-polygon scanner,high-sensitivity ultrasound transducer,and deep-learning-based image upsampling.A volumetric imaging rate of 2 Hz has been achieved over a field of view(FOV)of 11×7.5×1.5 mm^(3) with a high spatial resolution of~10 μm.Using the UFF-PAM system,we have demonstrated proof-of-concept studies on the mouse brains in response to systemic hypoxia,sodium nitroprusside,and stroke.We observed the mouse brain's fast morphological and functional changes over the entire cortex,including vasoconstriction,vasodilation,and deoxygenation.More interestingly,for the first time,with the whole-brain FOV and micro-vessel resolution,we captured the vasoconstriction and hypoxia simultaneously in the spreading depolarization(SD)wave.We expect the new imaging technology will provide a great potential for fundamental brain research under various pathological and physiological conditions. | Xiaoyi Zhu Qiang Huangl Anthony Dispirito Tri Vu Qiangzhou Rong Xiaorui Peng Huaxin Sheng Xiling Shen Qifa Zhou Laiming Jiang Ulrike Hoffmann Junjie Yao | 2022 | Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,6: | 2 |

| 19 | Treatment for HIV prevention study in southwestern areas of China显示文摘Background:China has ambitious to achieve significant reductions in HIV transmission and HIV-related mortality by adopting the World Health Organization's“Treat All”approach.Such a prevention strategy is needed future study on regional scale.Methods:An observational cohort study of HIV epidemiology and treatment databases was used to study the effectiveness of antiretroviral therapy on the transmission of HIV in serodiscordant couples in Guangxi of China.Results:A total of 7713 couples were entered into the cohort study analysis which included 1885 couples in the treatment-naive cohort and 5828 couples in the treated cohort.During the follow-up of 18985.29 person-years from 2003 to 2014,the average incidence of HIV was 2.4 per 100 person-years(95%CI 2.1e2.6).HIV seroincidence rate was significantly higher among the treatment naive group(4.2 per 100 person-years,3.7e4.8)compared with the on treatment group(1.6 per 100 person-years,1.3e1.8).An overall 45%reduction in risk of HIV transmission among serodiscordant couple was associated with ART treatment(adjusted Hazard Ratio[HR]0.55,95%Confidence Interval[CI]0.44e0.69).Treatment prevention had significantly effectiveness for most baseline characteristics of index partners,such as for male,female,age above 25 years,education below high school,farmer,infected by heterosexual intercourse.Conclusion:Treatment-as-prevention can be implemented in the real-world on a national or regional scale,but ART adherence and comprehensive harm reduction while implementing this strategy require further study. | Huanhuan Chen Xiaoyi Yang Qiuying Zhu Xinghua Wu Li Chen Huaxiang Lu Liuhong Luo Guanghua Lan Xianming Ge Zhenzhu Tang Zhiyong Shen Stephen WPan Hui Xing Yuhua Ruan Yiming Shao Wenmin Yang | 2018 | Infectious Disease Modelling2018,3,1: | 1 |
