Future Physics Programme of BESⅢ显示文摘There has recently been a dramatic renewal of interest in hadron spectroscopy and charm physics. This renaissance has been driven in part by the discovery of a plethora of charmonium-like XYZ states at BESⅢ and B factories, and the observation of an intriguing proton-antiproton threshold enhancement and the possibly related X(1835) meson state at BESⅢ, as well as the threshold measurements of charm mesons and charm baryons. We present a detailed survey of the important topics in tau-charm physics and hadron physics that can be further explored at BESⅢ during the remaining operation period of BEPCⅡ. This survey will help in the optimization of the data-taking plan over the coming years, and provides physics motivation for the possible upgrade of BEPCⅡ to higher luminosity.M.Ablikim M.N.Achasov P.Adlarson S.Ahmed M.Albrecht M.Alekseev A.Amoroso F.F.An Q.An Y.Bai O.Bakina R.Baldini Ferroli Y.Ban K.Begzsuren J.V.Bennett N.Berger M.Bertani D.Bettoni F.Bianchi J Biernat J.Bloms I.Boyko R.A.Briere L.Calibbi H.Cai X.Cai A.Calcaterra G.F.Cao N.Cao S.A.Cetin J.Chai J.F.Chang W.L.Chang J.Charles G.Chelkov Chen G.Chen H.S.Chen J.C.Chen M.L.Chen S.J.Chen Y.B.Chen H.Y.Cheng W.Cheng G.Cibinetto F.Cossio X.F.Cui H.L.Dai J.P.Dai X.C.Dai A.Dbeyssi D.Dedovich Z.Y.Deng A.Denig Denysenko M.Destefanis S.Descotes-Genon F.De Mori Y.Ding C.Dong J.Dong L.Y.Dong M.Y.Dong Z.L.Dou S.X.Du S.I.Eidelman J.Z.Fan J.Fang S.S.Fang Y.Fang R.Farinelli L.Fava F.Feldbauer G.Felici C.Q.Feng M.Fritsch C.D.Fu Y.Fu Q.Gao X.L.Gao Y.Gao Y.Gao Y.G.Gao Z.Gao B.Garillon I.Garzia E.M.Gersabeck A.Gilman K.Goetzen L.Gong W.X.Gong W.Gradl M.Greco L.M.Gu M.H.Gu Y.T.Gu A.Q.Guo F.K.Guo L.B.Guo R.P.Guo Y.P.Guo A.Guskov S.Han X.Q.Hao F.A.Harris K.L.He F.H.Heinsius T.Held Y.K.Heng Y.R.Hou Z.L.Hou H.M.Hu J.F.Hu T.Hu Y.Hu G.S.Huang J.S.Huang X.T.Huang X.Z.Huang Z.L.Huang N.Huesken T.Hussain W.Ikegami Andersson W.Imoehl M.Irshad Q.Ji Q.P.Ji X.B.Ji X.L.Ji H.L.Jiang X.S.Jiang X.Y.Jiang J.B.Jiao Z.Jiao D.P.Jin S.Jin Y.Jin T.Johansson N.Kalantar-Nayestanaki X.S.Kang R.Kappert M.Kavatsyuk B.C.Ke I.K.Keshk T.Khan A.Khoukaz P.Kiese R.Kiuchi R.Kliemt L.Koch O.B.Kolcu B.Kopf M.Kuemmel M.Kuessner A.Kupsc M.Kurth M.G.Kurth W.Kuhn J.S.Lange P.Larin L.Lavezzi H.Leithoff T.Lenz C.Li Cheng Li D.M.Li F.Li F.Y.Li G.Li H.B.Li H.J.Li J.C.Li J.W.Li Ke Li L.K.Li Lei Li P.L.Li P.R.Li Q.Y.Li W.D.Li W.G.Li X.H.Li X.L.Li X.N.Li X.Q.Li Z.B.Li H.Liang H.Liang Y.F.Liang Y.T.Liang G.R.Liao L.Z.Liao J.Libby C.X.Lin D.X.Lin Y.J.Lin B.Liu B.J.Liu C.X.Liu D.Liu D.Y.Liu F.H.Liu Fang Liu Feng Liu H.B.Liu H.M.Liu Huanhuan Liu Huihui Liu J.B.Liu J.Y.Liu K.Y.Liu Ke Liu Q.Liu S.B.Liu T.Liu X.Liu X.Y.Liu Y.B.Liu Z.A.Liu Zhiqing Liu Y.F.Long X.C.Lou H.J.Lu J.D.Lu J.G.Lu Y.Lu Y.P.Lu C.L.Luo M.X.Luo P.W.Luo T.Luo X.L.Luo S.Lusso X.R.Lyu F.C.Ma H.L.Ma L.L.Ma M.M.Ma Q.M.Ma X.N.Ma X.X.Ma X.Y.Ma Y.M.Ma F.E.Maas M.Maggiora S.Maldaner S.Malde Q.A.Malik A.Mangoni Y.J.Mao Z.P.Mao S.Marcello Z.X.Meng J.G.Messchendorp G.Mezzadri J.Min T.J.Min R.E.Mitchell X.H.Mo Y.J.Mo C.Morales Morales N.Yu.Muchnoi H.Muramatsu A.Mustafa S.Nakhoul Y.Nefedov F.Nerling I.B.Nikolaev Z.Ning S.Nisar S.L.Niu S.L.Olsen Q.Ouyang S.Pacetti Y.Pan M.Papenbrock P.Patteri M.Pelizaeus H.P.Peng K.Peters A.A.Petrov J.Pettersson J.L.Ping R.G.Ping A.Pitka R.Poling V.Prasad M.Qi T.Y.Qi S.Qian C.F.Qiao N.Qin X.P.Qin X.S.Qin Z.H.Qin J.F.Qiu S.Q.Qu K.H.Rashid C.F.Redmer M.Richter M.Ripka A.Rivetti V.Rodin M.Rolo G.Rong J.L.Rosner Ch.Rosner M.Rump A.Sarantsev M.Savrie K.Schoenning W.Shan X.Y.Shan M.Shao C.P.Shen P.X.Shen X.Y.Shen H.Y.Sheng X.Shi X.D Shi J.J.Song Q.Q.Song X.Y.Song S.Sosio C.Sowa S.Spataro F.F.Sui G.X.Sun J.F.Sun L.Sun S.S.Sun X.H.Sun Y.J.Sun Y.K Sun Y.Z.Sun Z.J.Sun Z.T.Sun Y.T Tan C.J.Tang G.Y.Tang X.Tang V.Thoren B.Tsednee I.Uman B.Wang B.L.Wang C.W.Wang D.Y.Wang H.H.Wang K.Wang L.L.Wang L.S.Wang M.Wang M.Z.Wang Wang Meng P.L.Wang R.M.Wang W.P.Wang X.Wang X.F.Wang X.L.Wang Y.Wang Y.F.Wang Z.Wang Z.G.Wang Z.Y.Wang Zongyuan Wang T.Weber D.H.Wei P.Weidenkaff H.W.Wen S.P.Wen U.Wiedner G.Wilkinson M.Wolke L.H.Wu L.J.Wu Z.Wu L.Xia Y.Xia S.Y.Xiao Y.J.Xiao Z.J.Xiao Y.G.Xie Y.H.Xie T.Y.Xing X.A.Xiong Q.L.Xiu G.F.Xu L.Xu Q.J.Xu W.Xu X.P.Xu F.Yan L.Yan W.B.Yan W.C.Yan Y.H.Yan H.J.Yang H.X.Yang L.Yang R.X.Yang S.L.Yang Y.H.Yang Y.X.Yang Yifan Yang Z.Q.Yang M.Ye M.H.Ye J.H.Yin Z.Y.You B.X.Yu C.X.Yu J.S.Yu C.Z.Yuan X.Q.Yuan Y.Yuan A.Yuncu A.A.Zafar Y.Zeng B.X.Zhang B.Y.Zhang C.C.Zhang D.H.Zhang H.H.Zhang H.Y.Zhang J.Zhang J.L.Zhang J.Q.Zhang J.W.Zhang J.Y.Zhang J.Z.Zhang K.Zhang L.Zhang S.F.Zhang T.J.Zhang X.Y.Zhang Y.Zhang Y.H.Zhang Y.T.Zhang Yang Zhang Yao Zhang Yi Zhang Yu Zhang Z.H.Zhang Z.P.Zhang Z.Q.Zhang Z.Y.Zhang G.Zhao J.W.Zhao J.Y.Zhao J.Z.Zhao Lei Zhao Ling Zhao M.G.Zhao Q.Zhao S.J.Zhao T.C.Zhao Y.B.Zhao Z.G.Zhao A.Zhemchugov B.Zheng J.P.Zheng Y.Zheng Y.H.Zheng B.Zhong L.Zhou L.P.Zhou Q.Zhou X.Zhou X.K.Zhou Xingyu Zhou Xiaoyu Zhou Xu Zhou A.N.Zhu J.Zhu J.Zhu K.Zhu K.J.Zhu S.H.Zhu W.J.Zhu X.L.Zhu Y.C.Zhu Y.S.Zhu Z.A.Zhu J.Zhuang B.S.Zou J.H.Zou 2020Chinese Physics C2020,44,4:517

Intestinal microbiota: a potential target for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis显示文摘Postmenopausal osteoporosis(PMO) is a prevalent metabolic bone disease characterized by bone loss and structural destruction, which increases the risk of fracture in postmenopausal women. Owing to the high morbidity and serious complications of PMO, many efforts have been devoted to its prophylaxis and treatment. The intestinal microbiota is the complex community of microorganisms colonizing the gastrointestinal tract. Probiotics, which are dietary or medical supplements consisting of beneficial intestinal bacteria, work in concert with endogenous intestinal microorganisms to maintain host health. Recent studies have revealed that bone loss in PMO is closely related to host immunity, which is influenced by the intestinal microbiota. The curative effects of probiotics on metabolic bone diseases have also been demonstrated. The effects of the intestinal microbiota on bone metabolism suggest a promising target for PMO management. This review seeks to summarize the critical effects of the intestinal microbiota and probiotics on PMO, with a focus on the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenic relationship between bacteria and host, and to define the possible treatment options.Xin Xu Xiaoyue Jia Longyi Mo Chengcheng Liu Liwei Zheng Quan Yuan Xuedong Zhou 2017Bone Research2017,5,3:20
PM_(2.5), PM_(10) and health risk assessment of heavy metals in a typical printed circuit noards manufacturing workshop显示文摘A typical Printed Circuit Board(PCB) manufacturer was chosen as the object of this study.During PCB processing, fine particulate matter and heavy metals(Cu, Zn, Pb, Cr, Cd and Ni)will be released into the air and dust, which then impact workers' health and the environment. The concentrations of total suspended particle(TSP), PM10 and PM2.5in the off-site were 106.3, 90.0 and 50.2 μg/m3, respectively, while the concentrations of TSP, PM10 and PM2.5in the workshops ranged from 36.1 to 365.3, from 27.1 to 289.8 and from 22.1 to212.3 μg/m3, respectively. Almost all six of the heavy metals were detected in all of the particle samples except Cd. For each workshop, it was obvious that Zn was the most enriched metal in TSP, followed by Cu > Pb(Cr) > Ni > Cd, and the same trend was found for PM10 and PM2.5. In the dust samples, Cu(which ranged from 4.02 to 56.31 mg/g) was the most enriched metal, followed by Zn, Cr, Pb, Ni and Cd, and the corresponding concentrations ranged from 0.77 to 4.47, 0.37 to 1.59, 0.26 to 0.84, 0.13 to 0.44 and nd to0.078 mg/g, respectively. The health risk assessment showed that noncancerous effects are unlikely for Zn, Pb, Cr, Cu, Cd and Ni. The carcinogenic risks for Cd and Ni were all lower than 10-6, except for Cr. This result indicates that carcinogenic risks for workers are relatively possible in the workshops. These findings suggest that this technology is advanced from the perspective of environmental protection in the waste PCB's recycling industry.Peng Zhou Jie Guo Xiaoyu Zhou Wei Zhang Lili Liu Yangcheng Liu Kuangfei Lin 2014Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,10:18
Lightweight structure of a phase-change thermal controller based on lattice cells manufactured by SLM显示文摘Thermal controllers equipped with phase-change materials are widely used for maintaining the moderate temperatures of various electric devices used in spacecraft. Yet, the structures of amounts of thermal controllers add up to such a large value that restricts the employment of scientific devices due to the limit of rocket capacity. A lightweight structure of phase-change thermal controllers has been one of the main focuses of spacecraft design engineering. In this work, we design a lightweight phase-change thermal controller structure based on lattice cells. The structure is manufactured entirely with AlSi10 Mg by direct metal laser melting. The dimensions of the structure are 230 mm × 170 mm × 15 mm, and the mass is 190 g, which is 60% lighter than most traditional structures(500–600 g) with the same dimensions. The 3 D-printed structure can reduce the risk of leakage at soldering manufacture by a welding process. Whether the strength of the designed structure is sufficient is determined through mechanical analysis and experiments. Thermal test results show that the thermal capacity of the lattice-based thermal controller is increased by50% compared to that of traditional controllers with the same volume.Hao ZHOU Xiaoyu ZHANG Huizhong ZENG Huning YANGa Hongshuai LEI Xiao LI Yaobing WANG 2019Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2019,32,7:15
Response of sediment yield to vegetation restoration at a large spatial scale in the Loess Plateau显示文摘The impact of vegetation coverage on erosion and sediment yield in the Loess Plateau has been extensively studied, but the research has been primarily based on observations from slope runoff plots or secondary forest regions;the scaling method remains unresolved when it is applied at a large spatial scale, and it is difficult to apply to regions with severe soil and water loss given the predominance of herbs and shrubs. To date, there is little data on the quantitative impact of changes to vegetation on sediment concentration at a large spatial scale. This paper is based on vegetation information from remote sensing images, measured rainfall and sediment data over nearly 60 years, and results from previous runoff and sediment variation research on the Yellow River. We introduce the concepts of a sediment yield coefficient and the percentage of effective vegetation and erodible area, analyze the impact of different vegetation conditions on the flood sediment concentration and sediment yield, and evaluate the effect of rainfall intensity on sediment yield under different vegetation conditions at the watershed scale. We propose models to evaluate the impact of vegetation on sediment yield in the loess gully hilly region, which are based on remote sensing data and support an application at a large spatial scale. The models can be used to assess sediment reduction that results from the current significant improvement of vegetation in the Loess Plateau.LIU XiaoYan YANG ShengTian DANG SuZhen LUO Ya LI XiaoYu ZHOU Xu 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,8:11

Spatial and temporal distribution of Neolithic sites in coastal China:Sea level changes, geomorphic evolution and human adaption显示文摘The East China coastal plain is one of the most important Neolithic culture areas in China, where rich archaeological sites including those producing the earliest domesticated rice are observed. It is also a place where landscape has experienced dramatic evolution during the Holocene when both sea level and climate changed, such that it is an ideal place for studying human-environment interaction. This study investigated over 2000 sites of pre-history and Shang and Zhou Dynasties, with 655 of which being Neolithic ages, by using DEM and GIS methods. The results suggest that the spatial and temporal distribution of Neolithic sites has largely been controlled by landscape evolution(particularly changes in coastal line), which ultimately governed by sea level changes. During early Holocene, Neolithic sites sparsely distributed in the intermountain basins of east Zhejiang Province, far from the influence of ocean. Over the period of 9–7 ka, the coastal plain(including the shelf) was largely submerged, only the feet of low hills to the south and southwest of the study area, and islands protruding the estuary, cradled limited number of settlements with characteristic 'maritime components'. At about 7 ka, sea level rise decelerated prominently, while sediments supply in the drainage remained high value, the combination of which led to land formation and propagation. Vast space during this period facilitated the growth of settlements in both size and number. In the mean time, however, the coastal plain was vulnerable to extreme environmental events such as storms and flooding owning to its geomorphic nature, which exerted great influence on the rise and fall of Neolithic culture.ZHENG HongBo ZHOU YouSheng YANG Qing HU ZhuJun LING GuangJiu ZHANG JuZhong GU ChunGuang WANG YingYing CAO YeTing HUANG XianRong CHENG Yue ZHANG XiaoYu WU WenXiang 2018Science China Earth Sciences2018,61,2:7
Visualization of perforin/gasdermin/complement-formed pores in real cell membranes using atomic force microscopy显示文摘Different types of pores ubiquitously form in cell membranes, leading to various types of cell death that profoundly influence the fate of inflammation and the disease status. However, these pores have never truly been visualized to date.Atomic force microscopy(AFM),which is emerging as a powerful tool to analyze the mechanical properties of biomolecules and cells,is actually an excellent imaging platform that allows biological samples to be visualized by probing surface roughness at the level of atomic resolution. Here, membrane pore structures were clearly visualized using AFM.This visualization not only describes the aperture and depth of the pore complexes but also highlights differences among the pores formed by perforin and gasdermins in tumor cell membranes and by complement in immune cell membranes.Additionally, this type of visualization also reveals the dynamic process of pore formation, fusion, and repair.Yuying Liu Tianzhen Zhang Yabo Zhou Jiping Li Xiaoyu Liang Nannan Zhou Jiadi Lv Jing Xie Feiran Cheng Yiliang Fang Yunfeng Gao Ning Wang Bo Huang 2019Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,6:6
A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. 12In vitro testicular organogenesis from human fetal gonads produces fertilization-competent spermatids显示文摘Unlike most organs that mature during the fetal period, the male reproductive system reaches maturity only at puberty with the commencement of spermatogenesis.Robust modelling of human testicular organogenesis in vitro would facilitate research into mechanisms of and factors affecting human spermatogenic failure and male fertility preservation in prepubertal tumor patients. Here,we report successful recapitulation of human testicular organogenesis in vitro from fetal gonadal ridge. Our model displayed the formation of mature seminiferous epithelium and self-renewing spermatogonia.Remarkably,in vitro-derived haploid spermatids have undergone meiotic recombination, and showed increased genetic diversity as indicated by genetic analysis. Moreover, these spermatids were able to fertilize oocytes and support subsequent blastocyst formation. The in vitro testicular organogenesis system described here will play an important role in elucidating the regulation of human testis development and maintaining male fertility in prepubertal cancer patients.Yan Yuan Laihua Li Qing Cheng Feiyang Diao Qiao Zeng Xiaoyu Yang Yibo Wu Hao Zhang Mingqian Huang Junqing Chen Quan Zhou Yunfei Zhu Rong Hua Jianyu Tian Xin Wang Zuomin Zhou Jie Hao Jinjin Yu Dong Hua Jiayin Liu Xuejiang Guo Qi Zhou Jiahao Sha 2020Cell Research2020,30,3:6
Short-term propamocarb exposure induces hepatic metabolism disorder associated with gut microbiota dysbiosis in adult male zebrafish显示文摘Propamocarb (PM) is a pesticide that is widely used to protect cucumbers and other plants from downy mildew.Recently, some studies indicated that PM exposure had potential toxic effects in animals. In this study, adult male zebrafish were exposed to 100 and 1000 μg/l PM for 7 days to assess its effects on metabolism and the gut microbiota. We observed a significant decrease in triglyceride (TG) in the livers of zebrafish that were exposed to 1000 μg/l PM for 7 days.At the same time, some genes related to glycolysis and lipid metabolism in the livers of zebrafish, including hexokinase-1 (HK1),pyruvate kinase (PK),acyi-CoA oxidase (Aco),peroxisome proliferator activated receptor alpha (Ppar-α),apolipoprotein A-Ⅳ-like (Apo),Acetyl CoA carboxylase-1 (Acc1),diacylglycerol acyltransferase (Dgat),and fatty acid synthase (Fas),were also decreased significantly after PM exposure.Based on GC-MS metabolomics analysis,a total of 48 metabolites changed significantly in the 1000 μg/l PM treatment group in comparison with the control group. These altered metabolites were mainly associated with the glycolysis, amino acid metabolism, and lipid metabolism pathways.Interestingly,we further found that the 1000 μg/l PM treatment group also showed significant elevations in Proteobacteria,Bacteroidetes, and Firmicutes at the phylum level.Sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene in the V3-V4 region also showed a significant change in the abundance and diversity of the gut microbiota in the 1000 μg/l PM treatment group. Our results indicated that exposure to PM for a short time could induce hepatic metabolic disorders and gut microbiota dysbiosis in adult male zebrafish.Rui Zhang Zihong Pan Xiaoyu Wang Manlu Shen Jiajie Zhou Zhengwei Fu Yuanxiang Jin 2019Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2019,51,1:6
Upregulation of annexin A5 affects the biological behaviors of lung squamous carcinoma cells in vitro显示文摘Annexin A5 is a Ca2?-dependent phospholipidbinding protein and protein kinase C inhibitory protein. It has a potential role in cellular signal transduction, inflammation, growth and differentiation. In this study, we evaluated the expression of this protein in lung tumor tissues and subsequently established a NCI-H520 cell line that stably expresses the wild-type ANXA5 gene to determine the effects of annexin A5 upregulation on the cell morphology, proliferation and metastasis potential in vitro. The effects of annexin A5 on NCI-H520 cells were tested by crystal violet staining, CCK-8 assay, scratch wound assay, and Transwell assay. The expressions of Akt,PCNA, vimentin, and E-cadherin were examined by Western blot assay. In this study, we demonstrated that annexin A5 is expressed at lower levels in tumor tissues compared with normal tissues. Additionally, the upregulation of this protein may inhibit the proliferation, migration, and invasion abilities of NCI-H520 cells in vitro. The transfected cells were arrested in the G1/S phase of the cell cycle, and the expression levels of Akt, PCNA and Vimentin were downregulated, while E-cadherin was upregulated.Linlin Gong Haoqi Zhao Lan Wang Bing Sun Lijun Yu Xiaoyu Qi Xin Zhou Liyuan Zhang Hongwei Guan Shujuan Shao 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,28:6
Scalable fabrication of printed Zn//MnO2 planar micro-batteries with high volumetric energy density and exceptional safety显示文摘The rapid development of printed and microscale electronics imminently requires compatible micro-batteries(MBs)with high performance, applicable scalability, and exceptional safety, but faces great challenges from the ever-reported stacked geometry.Herein the first printed planar prototype of aqueous-based,high-safety Zn//MnO2 MBs,with outstanding performance, aesthetic diversity, flexibility and modularization,is demonstrated, based on interdigital patterns of Zn ink as anode and MnO2 ink as cathode, with high-conducting graphene ink as a metal-free current collector, fabricated by an industrially scalable screen-printing technique. The planar separator-free Zn//MnO2 MBs,tested in neutral aqueous electrolyte, deliver a high volumetric capacity of 19.3 mAh/cm^3(corresponding to 393 mAh/g)at 7.5 mA/cm^3,and notable volumetric energy density of 17.3 mWh/cm^3,outperforming lithium thin-film batteries(≤10 mWh/cm^3).Furthermore,our Zn//MnO2 MBs present long-term cyclability having a high capacity retention of 83.9%after 1300 cycles at 5 C,which is superior to stacked Zn//MnO2 batteries previously reported.Also,Zn//MnO2 planar MBs exhibit exceptional flexibility without observable capacity decay under serious deformation, and remarkably serial and parallel integration of constructing bipolar cells with high voltage and capacity output.Therefore,low-cost,environmentally benign Zn//MnO2 MBs with in-plane geometry possess huge potential as high-energy,safe,scalable and flexible microscale power sources for direction integration with printed electronics.Xiao Wang Shuanghao Zheng Feng Zhou Jieqiong Qin Xiaoyu Shi Sen Wang Chenglin Sun Xinhe Bao Zhong-Shuai Wu 2020National Science Review2020,7,1:5
Loss of Gn1a/OsCKX2 confers heavy-panicle rice with excellent lodging resistance显示文摘Significant achievements have been made in breeding programs for the heavy-panicle-type(HPT)rice(Oryza sativa) in Southwest China. The HPT varieties now exhibit excellent lodging resistance, allowing them to overcome the greater pressures caused by heavy panicles. However, the genetic mechanism of this lodging resistance remains elusive. Here, we isolated a major quantitative trait locus, Panicle Neck Diameter 1(PND1), andidentified the causal gene as GRAIN NUMBER 1 A/CYTOKININ OXIDASE 2(Gn1 A/Os CKX2). The null gn1 a allele from rice line R498(gn1 aR498) improved lodging resistance through increasing the culm diameter and promoting crown root development.Loss-of-function of Gn1 a/Os CKX2 led to cytokinin accumulation in the crown root tip and accelerated the development of adventitious roots. Gene pyramiding between the null gn1 aR498 allele with two gain-of-function alleles, STRONG CULM 2(SCM2)and SCM3, further improved lodging resistance. Moreover, Gn1 a/Os CKX2 had minimal influence on overall rice quality. Our research thus highlights the distinct genetic components of lodging resistance of HPT varieties and provides a strategy for tailormade crop improvement of both yield and lodging resistance in rice.Bin Tu Zhang Tao Shiguang Wang Lei Zhou Ling Zheng Chun Zhang Xinzi Li Xiaoyu Zhang Junjie Yin Xiaobo Zhu Hua Yuan Ting Li Weilan Chen Peng Qin Bingtian Ma Yuping Wang Shigui Li 2022Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2022,64,1:5
Cation-mixing stabilized layered oxide cathodes for sodium-ion batteries显示文摘Sodium-ion batteries are promising for large-scale energy storage due to sodium's low cost and infinite abundance. The most popular cathodes for sodium-ion batteries, i.e., the layered sodium-containing oxides, usually exhibit reversible host rearrangement between P-type and O-type stacking upon charge/discharge. Herein we demonstrate that such host rearrangement is unfavorable and can be suppressed by introducing transition-metal ions into sodium layers. The electrode with stabilized P3-type stacking delivers superior rate capability, high energy efficiency, and excellent cycling performance. Owing to the cation-mixing nature, it performs the lowest lattice strain among all reported cathodes for sodium-ion batteries. Our findings highlight the significance of a stable host for sodium-ion storage and moreover underline the fundamental distinction in material design strategy between lithium-and sodium-ion batteries.Shaohua Guo Yang Sun Pan Liu Jin Yi Ping He Xiaoyu Zhang Yanbei Zhu Ryosuke Senga Kazu Suenaga Mingwei Chen Haoshen Zhou 2018Science Bulletin2018,63,6:5
The m^(6)A methylome of SARS-CoV-2 in host cells显示文摘The newly identified Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has resulted in a global health emergency because of its rapid spread and high mortality. The molecular mechanism of interaction between host and viral genomic RNA is yet unclear. We demonstrate herein that SARS-CoV-2 genomic RNA,as well as the negative-sense RNA,is dynamically N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A)-modified in human and monkey cells.Combined RIP-seq and miCLIP analyses identified a total of 8 m^(6)A sites at single-base resolution in the genome.Especially, epidemic strains with mutations at these identified m^(6)A sites have emerged worldwide, and formed a unique cluster in the US as indicated by phylogenetic analysis.Further functional experiments showed that m^(6)A methylation negatively regulates SARS-CoV-2 infection.SARS-CoV-2 infection also triggered a global increase in host m^(6)A methylome, exhibiting altered localization and motifs of m^(6)A methylation in mRNAs.Altogether, our results identify m^(6)A as a dynamic epitranscriptomic mark mediating the virus–host interaction.Jun’e Liu Yan-Peng Xu Kai Li Qing Ye Hang-Yu Zhou Hanxiao Sun Xiaoyu Li Liu Yu Yong-Qiang Deng Rui-Ting Li Meng-Li Cheng Bo He Jia Zhou Xiao-Feng Li Aiping Wu Chengqi Yi Cheng-Feng Qin 2021Cell Research2021,31,4:5
LRP6 downregulation promotes cardiomyocyte proliferation and heart regeneration显示文摘The adult mammalian heart is thought to be a terminally differentiated organ given the postmitotic nature of cardiomyocytes.Consequently, the potential for cardiac repair through cardiomyocyte proliferation is extremely limited.Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 6(LRP6)is a Wnt co-receptor that is required for embryonic heart development. In this study we investigated the role of LRP6 in heart repair through regulation of cardiomyocyte proliferation.Lrp6 deficiency increased cardiomyocyte cell cycle activity in neonatal, juvenile and adult mice.Cardiomyocyte-specific deletion of Lrp6 in the mouse heart induced a robust regenerative response after myocardial infarction(MI),led to reduced MI area and improvement in left ventricular systolic function. In vivo genetic lineage tracing revealed that the newly formed cardiomyocytes in Lrp6-deficient mouse hearts after MI were mainly derived from resident cardiomyocytes.Furthermore,we found that the pro-proliferative effect of Lrp6 deficiency was mediated by the ING5/P21 signaling pathway.Gene therapy using the adeno-associated virus(AAV)9 miRNAi-Lrp6 construct promoted the repair of heart injury in mice.Lrp6 deficiency also induced the proliferation of human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes(iPSC-CMs).Our study identifies LRP6 as a critical regulator of cardiomyocyte proliferation, which may lead to the development of a novel molecular strategy to promote myocardial regeneration and repair.Yahan Wu Liping Zhou Hongyu Liu Ran Duan Huixing Zhou Fulei Zhang Xiaoyu He Dongbo Lu Ke Xiong Maolin Xiong Jinzhu Zhuang Yi Liu Li Li Dandan Liang Yi-Han Chen 2021Cell Research2021,31,4:5
Mesenchymal stem cell treatment improves outcome of COVID-19 patients via multiple immunomodulatory mechanisms显示文摘The infusion of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients with mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)potentially improves clinical symptoms, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. We conducted a randomized,single-blind,placebo-controlled(29 patients/group)phase II clinical trial to validate previous findings and explore the potential mechanisms.Patients treated with umbilical cord-derived MSCs exhibited a shorter hospital stay(P=0.0198)and less time required for symptoms remission(P=0.0194)than those who received placebo.Based on chest images, both severe and critical patients treated with MSCs showed improvement by day 7(P=0.0099)and day 21(P=0.0084).MSC-treated patients had fewer adverse events.MSC infusion reduced the levels of C-reactive protein, proinflammatory cytokines, and neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs)and promoted the maintenance of SARS-CoV-2-specific antibodies. To explore how MSCs modulate the immune system,we employed single-cell RNA sequencing analysis on peripheral blood. Our analysis identified a novel subpopulation of VNN2+hematopoietic stem/progenitorlike(HSPC-like)cells expressing CSF3R and PTPRE that were mobilized following MSC infusion.Genes encoding chemotaxis factors—CX3CR1 and L-selectin—were upregulated in various immune cells.MSC treatment also regulated B cell subsets and increased the expression of costimulatory CD28 in T cells in vivo and in vitro. In addition,an in vivo mouse study confirmed that MSCs suppressed NET release and reduced venous thrombosis by upregulating kindlin-3 signaling.Together, our results underscore the role of MSCs in improving COVID-19 patient outcomes via maintenance of immune homeostasis.Rongjia Zhu Tingdong Yan Yingmei Feng Yan Liu Hongcui Cao Gongxin Peng Yanlei Yang Zhen Xu Jingqi Liu Wei Hou Xiaoyue Wang Zhe Li Luchan Deng Shihua Wang Jing Li Qin Han Hongling Li Guangliang Shan Yinghao Cao Xingyan An Jianshe Yan Zhonghui Zhang Huafei Li Xuebin Qu Jiaqi Zhu Shumin Zhou Jiao Wang Fengchun Zhang Jinming Gao Ronghua Jin Dayong Xu Yan-Qing Ma Tao Huang Shuang Peng Zhi Zheng Ilia Stambler Eric Gilson Lee Wei Lim Alexey Moskalev Antonio Cano Sasanka Chakrabarti Brun Ulfhake Huanxing Su Haoying Xu Sihuan Xu Feng Wei Holly MBrown-Borg Kyung-Jin Min Georgina Ellison-Hughes Calogero Caruso Kunlin Jin Robert Chunhua Zhao 2021Cell Research2021,31,12:5
