3Biomimetic melatonin-loaded silk fibroin/GelMA scaffold strengthens cartilage repair through retrieval of mitochondrial functions显示文摘Articular cartilage injury induced by collision or trauma is a common sports-related condition that may progress to pain,dysfunction,and secondary osteoarthritis(OA).Limited by self-renewal potential,cartilage regeneration faces a quandary while bio-inspired novel strategies are urgently required.In this study,by a soft freezing method and surface modification technique,a multi-functional silk fibroin(SF)plus gelatin methacrylate(GelMA)scaffold laden with melatonin(MT)was prepared.SF-GelMA@MT scaffold demonstrated enhanced biomechanical characteristics and long-acting melatonin release.In vitro treatment with SF-GelMA@MT induced the synthesis of cartilage extracellular matrix(ECM)components.Mechanistically,sustained release of melatonin yielded robust chondroprotective effects via improving mitochondrial polarization and antioxidant properties.SF-GelMA@MT implantation boosted cartilage renascence in a full-thickness cartilage defect model via mitochondria-associated sirtuins 1(SIRT1)-superoxide dismutase 2(SOD2)signaling pathway in vivo.In summary,this research proposed a welldesigned bionic composite scaffold that promotes cartilage regeneration via mitochondrial function enhancement,which is of tremendous potential for cartilage tissue engineering.Mingzhuang Hou Yijian Zhang Yang Liu Xiaoyang Ge Xiayu Hu Zhijian Zhao Xin Tian Tao Liu Huilin Yang Xi Chen Fan He Xuesong Zhu 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,15:1

6Ultrasound application in alkaline pretreatment process of spodumene to improve particle floatability显示文摘Selective surface dissolution was found to be important in spodumene flotation. In this study, we proposed to introduce ultrasound into the pretreatment process to accelerate particle vibration and cavitation, as well as the migration of mineral surface components to solution. Micro-flotation results showed that the flotation recovery of spodumene can be 86.08% by ultrasound pretreatment, but only 39.30% by traditional mechanical agitation pretreatment. Compared with traditional mechanical agitation, ultrasonic pretreatment can shorten the pretreatment process, reduce the dosage of agents, reduce the mechanical agitation speed, and improve the efficiency of the pretreating process. Inductively coupled plasma analysis showed that, in the ultrasonic system, the amount of Li, Al, and Si species in the solution was twice as much as those in the traditional preprocessing system. Moreover, the scanning electron microscope results demonstrated a larger surface dissolution area in the ultrasonic system. X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy results showed that the atomic concentration of Si species on the spodumene surface decreased, whereas the relative atomic concentrations of Li and Al species increased, indicating that the ultrasound effect strengthened the selective dissolution of elements on the mineral surface.The high-resolution spectra of O 1s showed that more collectors are adsorbed on the mineral surface treated by ultrasonic pretreatment.Haoran Chu Lanlan Chen Dongfang Lu Yuhua Wang Xiayu Zheng Guangli Zhu 2023International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2023,33,7:0
7New Insight on Graphite Anode Degradation Induced by Li-Plating显示文摘Graphite is the dominant anode material for lithium-ion batteries;however,it still suffers from Li-plating when charging fast or at low temperature,and Liplating is associated with performance fading and safety concerns.Herein,we clarify the mechanism of lithium evolution from graphite particles by overlithiation cycle test,in-situ XRD,and titration gas chromatography.We observe that the graphite intercalation compounds(GICs,LiC_(12) and LiC_(6)e.g.)gradually become inactive and wrapped by dead lithium or side reaction sediments,while the rate of this degradation will be accelerated as the overpotential of Liplating is decreased after initial Li metal nucleation.This understanding is contradictory to the popular one that the degradation of graphite anode after Li plating is mainly caused by the inferior SEI and dead Li induced hindering of Li-ion intercalation.The isolation of lithiated graphite particles leading to the fast vanishing of Li insertion/deintercalation process in graphite anodes.We further study the insertion/deintercalation vanishing process at low temperature and high rates,respectively.This work provides a insight on graphite anode degradation induced by Li-plating,and the new understanding can be used to guide the design of advanced materials and electrodes to avoid Li-plating and achieve extreme fast while safe charging.Yongchuang Xiong Yan Liu Long Chen Songtong Zhang Xiayu Zhu Tengteng Shen Dongsheng Ren Xiangming He Jingyi Qiu Li Wang Qiao Hu Hao Zhang 2022Energy & Environmental Materials2022,5,3:0
8Novel seven-membered ring-fused naphthalimide derivatives with potentials for cancer theranostics显示文摘Naphthalimide derivatives have good planarity and large conjugated structure and therefore possess photophysical properties and biological activities. Previously, our group discovered seven-membered heterocyclic derivatives via modifying 4-and 5-positions of naphthalimide skeleton and found the derivatives had good water solubility and showed large stokes shift and strong fluorescence in water. In this article, we designed and synthesized more seven-membered ring-fused naphthalimide derivatives(Y1-Y16)by introducing different substitutions on the imide group. Among them, Y1, Y5, Y9 were found to show similar cytotoxic activities with Amonafide against A549 and HL60 cells, with IC50values at 10^(-6)mol/L.What is more, the asymmetry derivatives(Y1 and Y5) showed high fluorescent quantum yields in the aqueous phase(Ф = 0.47).
