1Efficacy and safety of metformin and sitagliptin based triple antihyperglycemic therapy(STRATEGY):a multicenter,randomized,controlled,non-inferiority clinical trial显示文摘Despite the current guideline's recommendation of a timely stepwise intensification therapy,the 'clinical inertia',termed as the delayed treatment intensification,commonly exists in the real world,which may be partly due to the relatively little substantial evidence and no clear consensus regarding the efficacy and safety of triple oral agents in patients inadequately controlled with dual therapy.In this clinical trial performed in 237 centers in China,5,535 type 2 diabetic patients inadequately controlled by previous therapies were treated with a stable metformin/sitagliptin dual therapy for 20 weeks.The patients who did not reach the glycated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) goal were then further randomized into glimepiride,gliclazide,repaglinide,or acarbose group for an additional 24-week triple therapy.A mean HbAlc reduction of 0.85%was observed when sitagliptin was added to the patients inadequately controlled with metformin in 16 weeks.Further HbAlc reductions in the 24-week triple therapy stage were 0.65%in glimepiride group,0.70%in gliclazide group,0.61%in repaglinide group,and 0.45%in acarbose group.The non-inferiority criterion for primary hypotheses was met for gliclazide and repaglinide,but not for acarbose,compared with glimepiride,when added to metformin/sitagliptin dual therapy.The incidences of adverse events(AEs) were 29.2%in the dual therapy stage and30.3%in the triple therapy stage.Metformin/sitagliptin as baseline therapy,with the addition of a third oral antihyperglycemic agent,including glimepiride,gliclazide,repaglinide,or acarbose,was effective,safe and well-tolerated for achieving an HbAlc<7.0%goal in type 2 diabetic patients inadequately controlled with previous therapies.The timely augmentation of up to three oral antihyperglycemic agents is valid and of important clinical benefit to prevent patients from exposure to unnecessarily prolonged hyperglycemia.Wen Xu Yiming Mu Jiajun Zhao Dalong Zhu Qiuhe Ji Zhiguang Zhou Bin Yao Anhua Mao Samuel S.Engel Bin Zhao Yan Bi Longyi Zeng Xingwu Ran Juming Lu Linong Ji Wenying Yang Weiping Jia Jianping Weng 2017Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,3:19

3The Qitai radio telescope显示文摘This study presents a general outline of the Qitai radio telescope(QTT)project.Qitai,the site of the telescope,is a county of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China,located in the east Tianshan Mountains at an elevation of about 1800 m.The QTT is a fully steerable,Gregorian-type telescope with a standard parabolic main reflector of 110 m diameter.The QTT has adopted an umbrella support,homology-symmetric lightweight design.The main reflector is active so that the deformation caused by gravity can be corrected.The structural design aims to ultimately allow high-sensitivity observations from 150 MHz up to115 GHz.To satisfy the requirements for early scientific goals,the QTTwill be equipped with ultra-wideband receivers and large field-of-view multi-beam receivers.A multi-function signal-processing system based on RFSo C and GPU processor chips will be developed.These will enable the QTT to operate in pulsar,spectral line,continuum and Very Long Baseline Interferometer(VLBI)observing modes.Electromagnetic compatibility(EMC)and radio frequency interference(RFI)control techniques are adopted throughout the system design.The QTT will form a world-class observational platform for the detection of lowfrequency(nano Hertz)gravitational waves through pulsar timing array(PTA)techniques,pulsar surveys,the discovery of binary black-hole systems,and exploring dark matter and the origin of life in the universe.The QTT will also play an important role in improving the Chinese and international VLBI networks,allowing high-sensitivity and high-resolution observations of the nuclei of distant galaxies and gravitational lensing systems.Deep astrometric observations will also contribute to improving the accuracy of the celestial reference frame.Potentially,the QTT will be able to support future space activities such as planetary exploration in the solar system and to contribute to the search for extraterrestrial intelligence.Na Wang Qian Xu Jun Ma Zhiyong Liu Qi Liu Hailong Zhang Xin Pei Maozheng Chen Richard N.Manchester Kejia Lee Xingwu Zheng Hans J.Kärcher Wulin Zhao Hongwei Li Dongwei Li Martin Süss Matthias Reichert Zhongyi Zhu Congsi Wang Mingshuai Li Rui Li Ning Li Guljaina Kazezkhan Wenming Yan Gang Wu Lang Cui Ming Zhang Haitao Li 2023Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2023,66,8:14
4Analysis of sedimentary-geomorphologic variation and the living environment of hominids at the Shuidonggou Paleolithic site显示文摘Shuidonggou is one of the most important Upper Paleolithic sites in North China. Due to the presence of rich human remains,animal fossils,abundant sporopollen and unique geological sequence,it is the type site for Late Pleistocene to Holocene human occupation and environmental change in the Ningxia-Inner Mongolia region. Many scholars suggest that the site should be named the 'Shuidong-gou Formation' of Late Pleistocene in North China. Dating results indicate that ancient human activities at the site took place 30―24 ka (Marine Isotope Stage MIS 3). The climate at that time was warmer and moister than present day,and adequate precipitation led to the formation of water pack depressions where broad-leaf trees and sparse forest vegetations,as well as herbivorous animals flourished,mak-ing the area suitable for early human hunting,gathering and survival. The Neolithic human occupation happened 9―5 ka at the site,while similar environmental conditions with MIS3 occurred. 5Topographical Evaluation of the Decentration of Orthokeratology Lenses显示文摘Purpose: To evaluate the amount of lens decentration and various factors affecting decentration after orthokeratology lens wear and to observe the effect of decentration on the visual functions.Methods: Two kinds of orthokeratology lenses were fitted to 270 eyes of 135 patients [initial mean refractive error: (-3.98±1.51)D]. Humphery Instruments ATLAS 990 was used for the computer-assisted analysis of corneal topographical maps. The examination of corneal topography was performed on patients before and after 6 months of wearing orthokeratology lenses. The amount of decentration of orthokeratology lenses was measured by finding the distance between center of optic zone and the pupil center. The factors influencing the amount of decentration were analyzed, including the initial refraction error, astigmatism, keratometry values, corneal eccentricity, and the diameter of lens.Visual symptoms including monocular diplopia, glare around lights were recorded to evaluate the effects of decentration on visual functions.Results: The mean amount of decentration was (0.49±0.34) mm after one night's wear.The mean amount of decentration after 1 month, 3 months and 6 months was (0.57±0.41) mm, (0.55±0.48) mm and (0.59±0.39) mm, respectively. After one month, the amount of decentration was less than 0.50 mm in 51.1% eyes, 0.50~1.0 mm in 35.6% eyes and more than 1.00 mm in 13.3% eyes. The direction of decentration of more than 0.50 mm was mainly in the temporal quadrant (48.5%). Patients with greater initial astigmatism and smaller lenses showed greater decentration (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in decentration between the two groups with different corneal eccentricities and keratometry values (P>0.05). The amount of decentration was greater in patients who complained of monocular diplopia and glare.Conclusions: The amount of decentration of orthokeratology depends on the initial refractive error, astigmatism and the design of orthokeratology lenses. 6Field Capacity in Black Soil Region, Northeast China显示文摘In this work, 23 black soil profiles were surveyed and 113 soil samples were collected to determine the field capacity (FC) of the black soil in Northeast China. The effectiveness of three methods measuring FC, the Wilcox method (WM), the undisturbed soil pressure plate method (PUM) and the air-dried sieved soil pressure plate method (PDM) were compared to select a suitable laboratory measurement method. Results show that the FC values measured by PDM are greater than those measured by PUM, and the values measured by PUM are greater than those measured by WM. PUM is more suitable for the determination of FC in the study area. One regression equation between PUM and PDM has been established through which undisturbed soil can be replaced by air-dried sieved soil, which is easier to get, to measure FC. FCs vary from 23.50% to 37.00%, with an average of 31.65%, which differ greatly among the 23 black soil profiles. FC is found to be significantly positively correlated with the silt content, clay content and bulk density of the soil, but significantly negatively correlated with the sand content. 7Correlation analysis of Treg/Th17 cells and related cytokines in patients with psoriasis vulgaris显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate potential differences in circulating levels of T regulatory (Treg)/T helper 17 (Th17) cells, related inflammatory cytokines and specific transcription factors in healthy individuals and patients with psoriasis conforming to one of three Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndromes: blood-heat syndrome (BHS), blood-stasis syndrome (BSS) and blood-dryness syndrome (BDS). METHODS: Sixty-seven patients with psoriasis were recruited and assigned to one of three corresponding TCM syndrome groups: BHS (n = 40), BSS (n = 14) and BDS (n = 13 patients). The control group comprised 21 healthy individuals. The circulating levels of Treg/Th17 cells in peripheral blood were assessed using flow cytometry;the levels of inflammatory cytokines interleukin (IL)-10 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay;and the mRNA expression of T cell-specific transcription factors retinoic acid-related orphan receptor γt (RORγt) and forkhead box P3 (Foxp3) by quantitative real-time PCR. RESULTS: The ratio of Th17 cells and the levels of TNF-α and RORγt were all significantly higher in the BHS and BSS groups than the control group (P < 0.05), while the ratio of Treg cells and the levels of IL-10 and Foxp3 mRNA in the BHS group were significantly lower compared with the control group (P < 0.05). No significant differences were seen between the BSS group and the control group. The ratio of Th17 cells and the levels of TNF-α and RORγt in the BDS group were not significantly different from those of the control group;however, the ratio of Treg cells and the levels of IL-10 and Foxp3 were all lower than those in the healthy controls (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Compared with healthy individuals, the ratio of Th17 cells and the levels of related cytokines were higher, while the ratio of Treg cells and the levels of related cytokines were lower, in the peripheral blood of psoriasis/BHS patients;corresponding results for the BSS and BDS groups also showed differences. 8Paddy System with a Hybrid Rice Enhances Cyanobacteria Nostoc and Increases N2 Fixation显示文摘Biological nitrogen (N) fixation (BNF) plays a significant role in maintaining soil fertility in paddy field ecosystems. Rice variety influences BNF, but how different rice varieties regulate BNF and associated diazotroph communities has not been quantified. Airtight, field-based 15N2-labelling grow th chamber experiments were used to assess the BNF capac 辻 y of different rice varie ties. In addition, both the 16S rRNA and nifH genes were sequenced to assess the influence of different rice varieties on bacterial and diazotrophic communities in paddy soils. After subjecting a rice-soil system to 74 d of continuous airtight, field-based 15N2 labelling in pots in a growth chamber, the amounts of fixed N were 22.3 and 38.9 kg ha^-1 in inbred japonica (W23) and hybrid indica (IIY) rice cultivars plan ted in the rice-soil systems, respectively, and only 1%—2.5% of the fixed N was allocated to the rice plants and weeds. A greater abundance of diazotrophs was found in the surface soil (0-1 cm) under IIY than under W23. Sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene showed significantly greater abundances of the cyanobacterial genera Nostoc, Anabaena, and Cylindrospermum under IIY than under W23. Sequencing of the nifH gene also showed a significantly greater abundance of Nostoc under IIY than under W23. 10Optical dating of the Jingshuiwan Paleolithic site of Three Gorges, China显示文摘The Jingshuiwan Paleolithic site occu- pies the second terrace on the right bank of the Yangtze River. The lithic assemblage is characterized by choppers and scrapers made on pebbles and large flakes——the typical lithic industry of South China. Deposits of the site are mainly composed of fluvial sediments. Quartz grains extracted from these fluvial sediments from which the artifacts were un- covered were dated using the optically stimulated luminescence/single-aliquot regenerative-dose tech- nique. The dating results show that ancient human activities at this site took place in the early Upper Pleistocene (ca. 70 ka). The successful age analysis of the Jingshuiwan site is considered as a major break- through in chronological analysis of Paleolithic open site in the Three Gorges region and even in South China. 13Novel approach for identifying Z-axis drift of RLG based on GA-SVR model显示文摘This paper describes a novel approach for identifying the Zaxis drift of the ring laser gyroscope(RLG) based on genetic algorithm(GA) and support vector regression(SVR) in the singleaxis rotation inertial navigation system(SRINS). GA is used for selecting the optimal parameters of SVR. The latitude error and the temperature variation during the identification stage are adopted as inputs of GASVR. The navigation results show that the proposed GASVR model can reach an identification accuracy of 0.000 2(?)/ h for the Zaxis drift of RLG. 14Oxygen vacancies enriched nickel cobalt based nanoflower cathodes: Mechanism and application of the enhanced energy storage显示文摘The rational design of oxygen vacancies and electronic microstructures of electrode materials for energy storage devices still remains a challenge. Herein, we synthesize nickel cobalt-based oxides nanoflower arrays assembled with nanowires grown on Ni foam via the hydrothermal process followed annealing process in air and argon atmospheres respectively. It is found that the annealing atmosphere has a vital influence on the oxygen vacancies and electronic microstructures of resulting NiCo_(2)O_(4) (NCO-Air) and CoNiO_(2) (NCO-Ar) products, which NCO-Ar has more oxygen vacancies and larger specific surface area of 163.48 m^(2)/g. The density functional theory calculation reveals that more oxygen vacancies can provide more electrons to adsorb –OH free anions resulting in superior electrochemical energy storage performance. Therefore, the assembled asymmetric supercapacitor of NCO-Ar//active carbon delivers an excellent energy density of 112.52 Wh/kg at a power density of 558.73 W/kg and the fabricated NCO-Ar//Zn battery presents the specific capacity of 180.20 mAh/g and energy density of 308.14 Wh/kg.
