Punicalagin ameliorates collagen-induced arthritis by downregulating M1 macrophage and pyroptosis via NF-κB signaling pathway显示文摘Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)is a chronic inflammatory disease that eventually leads to disability.Inflammatory cell infiltration, severe joint breaking and systemic bone loss are the main clinical symptoms. In this study,we established a collagen-induced arthritis(CIA)model and found a large number of M1 macrophages and pyroptosis, which are important sources of proinflammatory cytokines.Punicalagin(PUN)is an active substance extracted from pomegranate peel.We found that it inhibited joint inflammation, cartilage damage and systemic bone destruction in CIA mice.PUN effectively alleviated the high expression of inflammatory cytokines in synovial tissue in vivo.PUN treatment shifted macrophages from the M1 phenotype to the M2 phenotype after stimulation with lipopolysaccharide(LPS)and interferon(IFN)-γ.The expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase(i NOS)and other proinflammatory cytokines released by M1 macrophages was decreased in the PUN treatment group. However, simultaneously, the expression of markers of anti-inflammatory M2 macrophages, such as arginase(Arg)-1 and interleukin(IL)-10,was increased. In addition,PUN treatment attenuated pyroptosis by downregulating the expression of NLRP3 and caspase-1,thereby preventing inflammatory cell death resulting from the release of IL-1βand IL-18.Mechanistically,PUN inhibited the activation of receptor activators of the nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB)signaling pathway, which contributes to M1 polarization and pyroptosis of macrophages. We concluded that PUN ameliorated pathological inflammation by inhibiting M1 phenotype polarization and pyroptosis and has great potential as a therapeutic treatment for human RA. | Gaoran Ge Jiaxiang Bai Qing Wang Xiaolong Liang Huaqiang Tao Hao Chen Minggang Wei Junjie Niu Huilin Yang Yaozeng Xu Yuefeng Hao Yi Xue Dechun Geng | 2022 | Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,3: | 14
Use of ^(15)N stable isotope to quantify nitrogen transfer between mycorrhizal plants显示文摘Aims Mycorrhizas(fungal roots)play vital roles in plant nutrient acquisition, performance and productivity in terrestrial ecosystems.Arbuscular mycorrhizas(AM)and ectomycorrhizas(EM)are mostly important since soil nutrients, including NH+4,NO3 and phosphorus, are translocated from mycorrhizal fungi to plants.Individual species, genera and even families of plants could be interconnected by mycorrhizal mycelia to form common mycorrhizal networks(CMNs).The function of CMNs is to provide pathways for movement or transfer of nutrients from one plant to another. In the past four decades, both ^(15)N external labeling or enrichment(usually expressed as atom%)and ^(15)N naturally occurring abundance(d^(15)N,&)techniques have been employed to trace the direction and magnitude of N transfer between plants, with their own advantages and limitations.Important Findings The heavier stable isotope ^(15)N is discriminated against 14N during biochemical, biogeochemical and physiological processes, due to a greater atomic mass.In general,non-N2-fixing plants had greater d^(15)N values than N2-fixing(;0&)ones.Foliar d^(15)N often varied by 5 to 10&in the order:non-mycorrhizas/AMs>EMs>ericoid mycorrhizas.Differences in d^(15)N(&)or ^(15)N(atom%)values could thus provide N transfer information between plants.A range of between 0 to 80%of one-way N transfer had been observed from N2-fixing mycorrhizal to non-N2-fixing mycorrhizal plants, but generally less than or around 10%in the reverse direction.Plant-to-plant N transfer may provide practical implications for plant performance in N-limited habitats.Considering that N translocation or cycling is crucial, and the potential benefits of N transfer are great in both agricultural and natural ecosystems, more research is warranted on either oneway or two-way N transfers mediated by CMNs with different species and under field conditions. | Xinhua He Minggang Xu Guo Yu Qiu Jianbin Zhou | 2009 | Journal of Plant Ecology2009,2,3: | 14
Study on preparation and properties of CeO_2/epoxy resin composite coating on sintered NdFeB magnet显示文摘The CeO_2/epoxy resin composite coating was deposited on NdFeB substrate by cathode electrophoresis method for enhancing the anticorrosion and anti-wear performances. The morphologies and structures were characterized by a scanning electron microscope and an X-ray diffractometer. The micro hardness of the composite coating was evaluated by a microhardness tester. The corrosive behaviors of the coatings were studied by potentiodynamic polarization curve, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and neutral salt spray tests. The concentration of CeO_2 nanoparticles(NPs) in the electrophoresis bath was optimized according to the coating structures and anticorrosion performances. The results show that CeO_2 NPs can enhance the microhardness of the composite coatings. Moreover, the nanoparticles disperse uniformly in the matrix when the concentration is lower than 30 g/L. The microhardness of CeO_2/epoxy resin(30 g/L) composite coating is about 63% higher than that of the blank epoxy resin coating. And the NSS time of the CeO_2/epoxy resin(30 g/L) composite coated sample can reach 1248 h.Meanwhile, the composite coatings possess no deteriorate influence on the magnetic properties of NdFeB substrates. The anticorrosion mechanisms of the composite coatings on the NdFeB substrate are deeply discussed. | Pengjie Zhang Minggang Zhu Wei Li Guangqing Xu Xiulian Huang Xiaofei Yi Jingwu Chen Yucheng Wu | 2018 | Journal of Rare Earths2018,36,5: | 8
Diffusion of Chloride Ions in Soils:I.Influences of Soil Moisture, Bulk Density and Temperature显示文摘Diffusion coefficients of chloride ions in four soils of different texture with varying effective moisture content and varying bulk density from 1.1 to 1.6 g cm3 under three different temperatures were determined by the diffusion-cell method using 36Cl-labelled CaCl2 solution. The results showed that activation energy decreased with water content, which indicated that the threshold for diffusion was lower at a higher soil moisture rate. Therefore, the diffusion coefficient (D) of chloride ions in soil increased consistently with soil moisture. Although a near linear increase in the diffusion coefficient with increasing soil moisture or bulk density in all the soils was observed, the increase rate in different soils was not the same. The D value increased with temperature, and with temperature increased by 10℃ in the range from 5 'C to 45℃ theD valve increased by 10%~30%, averaging about 20%. | XU MINGGANG, ZHANG YIPING and LIU WEINING (Department of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, Northwestern Agricultural University, Yangling, Shaanxi 712100 China) | 1997 | Pedosphere1997,7,1: | 4
Impacts of land use and salinization on soil inorganic and organic carbon in the middle-lower Yellow River Delta显示文摘Soil inorganic carbon(SIC)is an important reservoir of carbon(C)in arid,semi-arid,and semi-humid regions. However, knowledge is incomplete on the dynamics of SIC and its relationship with soil organic C(SOC)under different land use types in the semi-humid region, particularly in coastal zones impacted by soil salinization. We collected 170 soil samples from 34 profiles across various land use types(maize-wheat,cotton,paddy,and reed)in the middle-lower Yellow River Delta(YRD),China. We measured soil pH,electrical conductivity(EC),water-soluble salts, and SOC and SIC contents. Our results showed significant differences in both SOC and SIC among land use types. The dry cropland(maize-wheat and cotton)soils had significantly higher SOC and SIC densities(4.71 and 15.46 kg C m^(-2),respectively)than the paddy soils(3.28 and 14.09 kg C m^(-2),respectively)in the 0–100 cm layer.Compared with paddy soils, reed soils contained significantly higher SOC(4.68 kg C m^(-2))and similar SIC(15.02 kg C m^(-2))densities.There was a significant positive correlation between SOC and SIC densities over a 0–100 cm soil depth in dry cropland soils, but a negative relationship in the paddy soils. On average,SOC and SIC densities under maize-wheat cropping were 15%and 4%lower,respectively,in the salt-affected soils in the middle-lower YRD than the upper YRD.This study indicated that land use types had great influences on both SOC and SIC and their relationship, and salinization had adverse effect on soil C storage in the YRD. | Yang GUO Xiujun WANG Xianglan LI Minggang XU Yuan LI Haonan ZHENG Yongming LUO Pete SMITH | 2021 | Pedosphere2021,31,6: | 4
First experimental constraints on WIMP couplings in the effective field theory framework from CDEX显示文摘We present weakly interacting massive particles(WIMPs) search results performed using two approaches of effective field theory from the China Dark Matter Experiment(CDEX), based on the data from both CDEX-1B and CDEX-10 stages. In the nonrelativistic effective field theory approach, both time-integrated and annual modulation analyses were used to set new limits for the coupling of WIMP-nucleon effective operators at 90% confidence level(C.L.) and improve over the current bounds in the low mχregion. In the chiral effective field theory approach, data from CDEX-10 were used to set an upper limit on WIMP-pion coupling at 90% C.L. We for the first time extended the limit to the m_(χ)<6 GeV/c^(2) region. | Yi Wang Zhi Zeng Qian Yue LiTao Yang KeJun Kang YuanJing Li Mehment Agartioglu HaiPeng An JianPing Chang JingHan Chen YunHua Chen JianPing Cheng Cheng Yi Chiang WenHan Dai Zhi Deng ChangHao Fang XinPing Geng Hui Gong QiuJu Guo XuYuan Guo HongJian He Li He ShengMing He JinWei Hu TuChen Huang HanXiong Huang HaiTao Jia LiPing Jia Xi Jiang HauBin Li JianMin Li Jin Li MingXuan Li RenMingJie Li Xia Li YuLan Li Bin Liao FongKay Lin ShinTed Lin ShuKui Liu YanDong Liu Yu Liu YuanYuan Liu ZhongZhi Liu Hao Ma YuCai Mao QiYuan Nie JinHua Ning Hui Pan NingChun Qi Jie Ren XiChao Ruan ChangSong Shang Vivek Sharma Ze She Lakhwinder Singh Monoj Kumar Singh TianXi Sun ChangJian Tang WeiYou Tang Yang Tian GuangFu Wang Li Wang Qing Wang Yu Chen Wang YunXiang Wang Zhen Wang Henry Tsz-King Wong ShiYong Wu YuCheng Wu HaoYang Xing Yin Xu Tao Xue YuLu Yan Nan Yi ChunXu Yu HaiJun Yu JianFeng Yue Ming Zeng BingTao Zhang Lei Zhang FengShou Zhang ZhenYu Zhang KangKang Zhao MingGang Zhao JiFang Zhou ZuYing Zhou JingJun Zhu | 2021 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2021,64,8: | 3
First results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from CDEX-1 experiment显示文摘We report the first results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from stage one of the China dark-matter experiment(CDEX).A p-type point-contact high-purity germanium detector with a mass of 994 g has been installed to detect neutrinoless double beta decay events, as well as to directly detect dark matter particles. An exposure of 304 kg d has been analyzed over a wide spectral band from 500 keV to 3 MeV. The average event rate obtained was about 0.012 counts per keV per kg per day over the 2.039 MeV energy range. The half-life of ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay derived based on this result is T^(0ν)1/2>6.4×10^(22) yr(90% C.L.). An upper limit on the effective Majorana-neutrino mass of 5.0 eV has been achieved. | Li Wang Qian Yue KeJun Kang JianPing Cheng YuanJing Li TszKing Henry Wong ShinTed Lin JianPing Chang JingHan Chen QingHao Chen YunHua Chen Zhi Deng Qiang Du Hui Gong Li He QingJu He JinWei Hu HanXiong Huang TengRui Huang LiPing Jia Hao Jiang HauBin Li Hong Li JianMin Li Jin Li Jun Li Xia Li XueQian Li YuLan Li FongKay Lin ShuKui Liu Hao Ma JingLu Ma XingYu Pan Jie Ren XiChao Ruan ManBin Shen Vivek Sharma Lakhwinder Singh Manoj Kumar Singh Manoj Kumar Singh Arun Kumar Soma ChangJian Tang WeiYou Tang ChaoHsiung Tseng JiMin Wang Qing Wang ShiYong Wu YuCheng Wu HaoYang Xing Yin Xu Tao Xue LiTao Yang SongWei Yang Nan Yi ChunXu Yu HaiJun Yu WeiHe Zeng XiongHui Zeng Zhi Zeng Lan Zhang YunHua Zhang MingGang Zhao Wei Zhao JiFang Zhou ZuYing Zhou JingJun Zhu WeiBin Zhu ZhongHua Zhu | 2017 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2017,60,7: | 3
Factors affecting potassium fixation in seven soils under 15-year long-term fertilization显示文摘Potassium (K) fixation by seven soils, including black soil, fluvo-aquic soil, grey desert soil, loess soil, paddy soil, red soil and purple soil, was determined by laboratory simulation under a fifteen-year-period of long-term fertilization. Factors affecting soil K fixation were then discussed by factor analysis and stepwise regression. Magnitude of soil K fixation rate was as follows: the black soil > the purple soil > the loess soil > the fluvo-aquic soil > the paddy soil > the grey desert soil > the red soil. Our results showed that soil K fixation capacity was significantly affected by the clay mineral types in the soils. Potassium fixation capacity of soils, whose 2:1 layer silicates were dominant minerals, was af- fected by two components extracted by the method of principal component analysis: the first including soil available K, slow available K and K+ saturation, and the second including cation exchange capacity (CEC), soil organic matter (SOM) and <0.002 mm clay contents. Potassium fixation rate was mainly affected by K+ saturation and CEC with lower added K concentration (from 0.4 to 1.6 g/L), and by K+ saturation and <0.002 mm clay content with higher added K concentration (from 2.4 to 4.0 g/L). | ZHANG HuiMin XU MingGang ZHANG WenJu HE XinHua | 2009 | Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,10: | 3
Reducing nitrogen application with dense planting increases nitrogen use efficiency by maintaining root growth in a double-rice cropping system显示文摘Rational nitrogen(N) application can greatly increase rice(Oryza sativa L.) yield. However, excessive N input can lead not only to low N use efficiency(NUE) but also to severe environmental pollution.Reducing N application rate with a higher planting density(RNHD) is recommended to maintain rice yield and improve NUE. The effects of RNHD on fertilizer N fate and rice root growth traits remain unclear. We accordingly conducted a two-year field experiment to investigate the influence of RNHD on rice yield, fertilizer 15N fate, and root growth in a double-rice cropping system in China. In comparison with the conventional practice of high N application with sparse planting, RNHD resulted in similar yield and biomass production as well as plant N uptake. RNHD increased agronomic NUEs by 23.3%–31.9%(P < 0.05) and N recovery efficiency by 17.4%–24.1%(P < 0.05). RNHD increased fertilizer 15N recovery rate by 14.5%–34.7%(P < 0.05), but reduced15 N retention rate by 9.2%–12.0%(P < 0.05). Although a reduced N rate led to significantly reduced root length, surface area, volume, and biomass, these root traits were significantly increased by higher planting density. RNHD did not affect these root morphological traits and reduced activities of nitrate reductase(NR) and glutamine synthetase(GS) only at tillering stage. Plant N uptake was significantly positively correlated with these root traits, but not correlated with NR and GS activities. Together, these findings show that reducing N application with dense planting can lead to high plant N uptake by maintaining rice root growth and thus increase NUE. | Jin Chen Xiangcheng Zhu Jiang Xie Guoqiang Deng Tianhua Tu Xianjiao Guan Zhen Yang Shan Huang Xianmao Chen Caifei Qiu Yinfei Qian Caihong Shao Minggang Xu Chunrui Peng | 2021 | The Crop Journal2021,9,4: | 3
Synthesis and Diameter-dependent Thermal Conductivity of InAs Nanowires显示文摘In this work, we synthesized high-quality In As nanowires by a convenient chemical vapor deposition method, and developed a simple laser heating method to measure the thermal conductivity of a single In As nanowire in air. During the measurement, a focused laser was used to heat one end of a freely suspended nanowire, with its other end embedded into a carbon conductive adhesive. In order to obtain the thermal conductivity of In As nanowires, the heat loss in the heat transfer process was estimated, which includes the heat loss through air conduction, the heat convection, and the radiation loss. The absorption ratio of the laser power in the In As nanowire was calculated. The result shows that the thermal conductivity of In As nanowires monotonically increases from 6.4 W m-1K-1to 10.5 W m-1K-1with diameters increasing from 100 nm to 190 nm, which is ascribed to the enhanced phonon-boundary scattering. | Pinyun Ren Xiaoli Zhu Jinyun Han Jinyou Xu Liang Ma Honglai Li Xiujuan Zhuang Hong Zhou Qinglin Zhang Minggang Xia Anlian Pan | 2014 | Nano-Micro Letters2014,6,4: | 2

Diffusion of Chloride Ions in Soils: Ⅱ. Kinetic and Thermodynamic Characteristics显示文摘The amounts of chloride ions diffused in four soils of different textures at the same water content under different temperature and at varied time were measured by the diffusion cell method using 36Cl-labelled CaCl2 solution. Five kinetic models were used to fit the dynamic process of the diffusion of chloride ions in the soils. It was found that Elovich equation or power function equation was the best model to describe the process. The pseudothermodynamic parameters, i. e. the net reaction energyl the activation entropy, activation enthalpy and activation free energy of the diffusion, were derived from the absolute reaction-rate theory. The results showed that these parameters decreased in the order of loessal soil > black in soil >lou soil > yellow cinnamon soil, which indicated that the force and the heat-energy barrier to be overcome for diffusion decreased, the diffusion rate increased and the disorder of the soil-solution-ion system due to diffusion decreased successively with the texture becoming heavier in the four soils. | XU MINGGANG ZHANG YIPING and LIU WEINING (Department of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, Northwestern Agricultural University, Yangling, Shaanxi 712100 China) | 1997 | Pedosphere1997,7,3: | 1

Invasibility and recoverability of a plant community following invasion depend on its successional stages显示文摘Exotic species invasion represent important causes of harming the structure, function, and ecological environment in ecosystems.Yet,knowledge remains limited on the invasibility(invasion advantage of exotic species)and recoverability(recovery ability of native species)of a plant community following invasion depend on its successional stages. We selected three grasses of Setaria viridis,Artemisia gmelinii, and Bothriochloa ischemum representing early(E),middle(M),and late(L)successional species, respectively.Meanwhile, the grasses of Panicum virgatum was selected to represent exotic species(invasion species).Three types of soil were collected to treat the three E,M,and L successional species, and one type of soil was collected to treat the exotic species. We compared the performance of the three native plant species and one exotic species grown in their“own”and“other”soils in a 2-year greenhouse experiment. Our study showed that exotic species performed better in soils of E and M successional species than in the soil of L successional species. After exotic species removed,E and M successional species exhibited poor growth in the soil of exotic species, while that of L successional species performed poor in field exotic species soils, but performed better in soils disturbed by exotic species. Our study demonstrated that the invasibility and recoverability of native plant communities changed with vegetation succession. | Hongwei Xu Zemin Ai Qing Qu Minggang Wang Guobin Liu Sha Xue | 2022 | Soil Ecology Letters2022,4,2: | 1
