| 1 | Additional risk in extreme precipitation in China from 1.5℃to 2.0℃global warming levels显示文摘To avoid dangerous climate change impact, the Paris Agreement sets out two ambitious goals: to limit the global warming to be well below 2 ℃ and to pursue effort for the global warming to be below 1.5 ℃ above the pre-industrial level. As climate change risks may be region-dependent, changes in magnitude and probability of extreme precipitation over China are investigated under those two global warming levels based on simulations from the Coupled Model Inter-Comparison Projects Phase 5. The focus is on the added changes due to the additional half a degree warming from 1.5 ℃ to 2 ℃ . Results show that regional average changes in the magnitude do not depend on the return periods with a relative increase around 7% and 11% at the 1.5 ℃ and 2 ℃ global warming levels, respectively. The additional half a degree global warming adds an additional increase in the magnitude by nearly 4%. The regional average changes in term of occurrence probabilities show dependence on the return periods, with rarer events(longer return periods) having larger increase of risk. | 2 | Numerical study on the fracturing mechanism of shock wave interactions between two adjacent blast holes in deep rock blasting显示文摘With the application of electronic detonators, millisecond blasting is regarded as a signifi cant promising approach to improve the rock fragmentation in deep rock blasting. Thus, it is necessary to investigate the fracturing mechanisms of short-delay blasting. In this work, a rectangle model with two circle boreholes is modeled as a particles assembly based on the discrete element method to simulate the shock wave interactions induced by millisecond blasting. The rectangle model has a size of 12 × 6 m (L × W) and two blast holes have the same diameter of 12 cm. The shock waves are simplifi ed as time-varying forces applied at the particles of walls of the two boreholes. Among a series of numerical tests in this study, the spacing between two adjacent boreholes and delay time of millisecond blasting are considered as two primary variables, and the decoupling charge with a coeffi cient of 1.5 is taken into account in each case. The results show that stress superposition is not a key factor for improving rock fragmentation (tensile stress interactions rather than compressive stress superposition could aff ect the generation of cracks), whereas collision actions from isolated particles or particles with weakened constraints play a crucial role in creating the fracture network. | 3 | Mycorrhizal symbiosis modulates the rhizosphere microbiota to promote rhizobia–legume symbiosis显示文摘Plants establish symbioses with mutualistic fungi,such as arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM)fungi,and bacteria,such as rhizobia,to exchange key nutrients and thrive.Plants and symbionts have coevolved and represent vital components of terrestrial ecosystems.Plants employ an ancestral AM signaling pathway to establish intracellular symbioses,including the legume–rhizobia symbiosis,in their roots.Nevertheless,the relationship between the AM and rhizobial symbioses in native soil is poorly understood.Here,we examined how these distinct symbioses affect root-associated bacterial communities in Medicago truncatula by performing quantitative microbiota profiling(QMP)of 16S rRNA genes.We found that M.truncatula mutants that cannot establish AM or rhizobia symbiosis have an altered microbial load(quantitative abundance)in the rhizosphere and roots,and in particular that AM symbiosis is required to assemble a normal quantitative root-associated microbiota in native soil.Moreover,quantitative microbial co-abundance network analyses revealed that AM symbiosis affects Rhizobiales hubs among plant microbiota and benefits the plant holobiont.Through QMP of rhizobial rpoB and AM fungal SSU rRNA genes,we revealed a new layer of interaction whereby AM symbiosis promotes rhizobia accumulation in the rhizosphere of M.truncatula.We further showed that AM symbiosis-conditioned microbial communities within the M.truncatula rhizosphere could promote nodulation in different legume plants in native soil.Given that the AM and rhizobial symbioses are critical for crop growth,our findings might inform strategies to improve agricultural management.Moreover,our work sheds light on the co-evolution of these intracellular symbioses during plant adaptation to native soil conditions. | Xiaolin Wang Huan Feng Yayu Wang Mingxing Wang Xingguang Xie Huizhong Chang Like Wang Jicheng Qu Kai Sun Wei He Chunyan Wang Chuanchao Dai Zhaohui Chu Changfu Tian Nan Yu Xuebin Zhang Huan Liu Ertao Wang | 2021 | Molecular Plant2021,14,3: | 6 |

| 5 | Effects of capture and captivity on plasma corticosterone and metabolite levels in breeding Eurasian Tree Sparrows显示文摘Background: Bringing free-living animals into captivity subjects them to the stress of both capture and captivity, leading to the alteration of normal physiological processes and behaviors through activation of the hypothalamic– pituitary–adrenal axis. In free-living birds, although elevated plasma corticosterone (CORT) is an important adaptation regulating physiological and behavioral responses during the process of capture and captivity stress, little information is currently available on the effects of such stress on plasma metabolite levels. Methods: We examined the effects of immediate capture and 24-h captivity on body mass, body condition, plasma CORT, and metabolite levels including glucose (Glu), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), uric acid (UA), in breeding Eurasian Tree Sparrows (Passer montanus). Results: CORT and Glu levels were increased significantly by the stress of capture, whereas TC and UA levels decreased. Body mass, body condition declined notably after 24 h in captivity, but CORT, Glu, and UA levels increased. Furthermore, male sparrows had lower TG levels after both capture and captivity than those of females. The relationships between plasma CORT and metabolite levels varied between sexes. Conclusions: Our results revealed that the metabolic status of Eurasian Tree Sparrows could be dramatically altered by capture and captivity. | 6 | Research on fault detection method for heat pump air conditioning system under cold weather显示文摘Building energy consumption accounts for nearly 40% of global energy consumption, HVAC(Heating, Ventilating,and Air Conditioning) systems are the major building energy consumers, and as one type of HVAC systems, the heat pump air conditioning system, which is more energy-efficient compared to the traditional air conditioning system, is being more widely used to save energy. However, in northern China, extreme climatic conditions increase the cooling and heating load of the heat pump air conditioning system and accelerate the aging of the equipment, and the sensor may detect drifted parameters owing to climate change. This non-linear drifted parameter increases the false alarm rate of the fault detection and the need for unnecessary troubleshooting.In order to overcome the impact of the device aging and the drifted parameter, a Kalman filter and SPC(statistical process control) fault detection method are introduced in this paper. In this method, the model parameter and its standard variance can be estimated by Kalman filter based on the gray model and the real-time data of the air conditioning system. | 8 | Prior information based channel estimation for millimeter-wave massive MIMO vehicular communications in 5G and beyond显示文摘Millimeter wave(mm Wave) has been claimed as the viable solution for high-bandwidth vehicular communications in 5 G and beyond. To realize applications in future vehicular communications, it is important to take a robust mm Wave vehicular network into consideration. However, one challenge in such a network is that mm Wave should provide an ultra-fast and high-rate data exchange among vehicles or vehicle-to-infrastructure(V2 I). Moreover,traditional real-time channel estimation strategies are unavailable because vehicle mobility leads to a fast variation mm Wave channel. To overcome these issues, a channel estimation approach for mm Wave V2 I communications is proposed in this paper. Specifically, by considering a fast-moving vehicle secnario, a corresponding mathematical model for a fast time-varying channel is first established. Then, the temporal variation rule between the base station and each mobile user and the determined direction-of-arrival are used to predict the time-varying channel prior information(PI). Finally, by exploiting the PI and the characteristics of the channel, the time-varying channel is estimated. | 10 | Surface modification with oxygen vacancy in Li-rich layered oxide Li1.2Mn0.54Ni0.13Co0.13O2 for lithium-ion batteries显示文摘A couple of layered Li-rich cathode materials Li1.2Mn0.54Ni0.13Co0.13O2 without any carbon modification are successfully synthesized by solvothermal and hydrothermal methods followed by a calcination process. The sample synthesized by the solvothermal method(S-NCM) possesses more homogenous microstructure, lower cation mixing degree and more oxygen vacancies on the surface, compared to the sample prepared by the hydrothermal method(H-NCM). The S-NCM sample exhibits much better cycling performance, higher discharge capacity and more excellent rate performance than H-NCM. At 0.2 C rate,the S-NCM sample delivers a much higher initial discharge capacity of 292.3 mAh g^-1 and the capacity maintains 235 m Ah g^-1 after 150 cycles(80.4% retention), whereas the corresponding capacity values are only 269.2 and 108.5 m Ah g^-1(40.3% retention) for the H-NCM sample. The S-NCM sample also shows the higher rate performance with discharge capacity of 118.3 mAh g^-1 even at a high rate of 10 C, superior to that(46.5 m Ah g^-1) of the H-NCM sample. | 11 | Understanding human influence on climate change in China显示文摘China’s climate has been warming since the 1950s, with surface air temperature increasing at a rate higher than the global average. Changes in climate have exerted substantial impacts on water resources,agriculture, ecosystems and human health. Attributing past changes to causes provides a scientific foundation for national and international climate policies. Here, we review recent progress in attributing the observed climate changes over past decades in China. Anthropogenic forcings, dominated by greenhouse gas emissions, are the main drivers for observed increases in mean and extreme temperatures. Evidence of the effect of anthropogenic forcings on precipitation is emerging. Human influence has increased the probability of extreme heat events, and has likely changed the occurrence probabilities for some heavy precipitation events. | 12 | Characterization of Fe-S minerals influenced by buried ancient woods in the intertidal zone,East China Sea显示文摘An ancient wood layer dated at about 5600 cal. a BP by AMS14C dating was discovered in the intertidal zone, East China Sea. Samples affected by ancient woods, including fresh coast bedrock, weathering bedrock, seepage water from coast, seepage water from ancient wood layer, intertidal seawater, fresh water, beach mud, ancient wood barks and ancient peat, were collected for geochemical analysis. The beach mud and the bacteriogenic iron oxides (BIOS) in coastal seepage water were analyzed by min-eralogical and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM)-selected area electron dif-fraction (SAED) analysis. Inorganic sulfur compositions and δ34S of the ancient peat and the beach mud were determined. The results showed that Fe, Mn, S (SO42-) were enriched in the intertidal area at different levels, very likely caused by fermentation of ancient woods. The presence of abundant iron-oxidizing bacteria (FeOB) and sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) in this intertidal zone was confirmed by HRTEM-SAED observation, and these bacteria were involved in Fe-S cycle to induce extracellular biomineralization. The negative δ34SV-CDT (-2.9‰) likely indicated the biogenic origin of iron-sulfide minerals in the beach mud at high sulfate reduction rate (SRR).
