| 1 | Effect of barium sulfate modification on the SO2 tolerance of V2O5/TiO2 catalyst for NH3-SCR reaction显示文摘Sulfur poisoning of V_2O_5/BaSO_4–TiO_2(VBT),V_2O_5/WO_3–TiO_2(VWT) and V_2O_5/BaSO_4–WO_3–TiO_2(VBWT) catalysts was performed in wet air at 350℃ for 3 hr,and activities for the selective catalytic reduction of NO_x with NH_3 were evaluated for 200–500℃.The VBT catalyst showed higher NO_x conversions after sulfur poisoning than the other two catalysts.The introduction of barium sulfate contributed to strong acid sites for the as-received catalyst,and eliminated the redox cycle of active vanadium oxide to some extent,which resulted in a certain loss of activity.Readily decomposable sulfate species formed on VBT-S instead of inactive sulfates on VWT-S.These decomposable sulfates increased the number of strong acid sites significantly.Some sulfate species escaped during catalyst preparation and barium sulfate was reproduced during sulfur poisoning,which protects vanadia from sulfur oxide attachment to a great extent.Consequently,the VBT catalyst exhibited the best resistance to sulfur poisoning. | Tengfei Xu Xiaodong Wu Xuesong Liu Li Cao Qiwei Lin Duan Weng | 2017 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,7: | 14 |
| 2 | An innovative integrated system utilizing solar energy as power for the treatment of decentralized wastewater显示文摘This article reports an innovative integrated system utilizing solar energy as power for decentralized wastewater treatment, which consists of an oxidation ditch with double channels and a photovoltaic (PV) system without a storage battery. Because the system operates without a storage battery, which can reduce the cost of the PV system, the solar radiation intensity affects the amount of power output from the PV system. To ensure that the power output is sufficient in all different weather conditions, the solar radiation intensity of 78 W/m 2 with 95% confidence interval was defined as a threshold of power output for the PV system according to the monitoring results in this study, and a step power output mode was used to utilize the solar energy as well as possible. The oxidation ditch driven by the PV system without storage battery ran during the day and stopped at night. Therefore, anaerobic, anoxic and aerobic conditions could periodically appear in the oxidation ditch, which was favorable to nitrogen and phosphate removal from the wastewater. | 3 | Removal of airborne microorganisms emitted from a wastewater treatment oxidation ditch by adsorption on activated carbon显示文摘Bioaerosol emissions from wastewater and wastewater treatment processes are a significant subgroup of atmospheric aerosols. Most previous work has focused on the evaluation of their biological risks. In this study, however, the adsorption method was applied to reduce airborne microorganisms generated from a pilot scale wastewater treatment facility with oxidation ditch. Results showed adsorption on granule activated carbon (GAC) was an efficient method for the purification of airborne microorganisms. The GAC itself had a maximum adsorption capacity of 2217 CFU/g for airborne bacteria and 225 CFU/g for fungi with a flow rate of 1.50 m 3 /hr. Over 85% of airborne bacteria and fungi emitted from the oxidation ditch were adsorbed within 80 hr of continuous operation mode. Most of them had a particle size of 0.65-4.7 μm. Those airborne microorganisms with small particle size were apt to be adsorbed. The SEM/EDAX, BET and Boehm's titration methods were applied to analyse the physicochemical characteristics of the GAC. Relationships between GAC surface characteristics and its adsorption performance demonstrated that porous structure, large surface area, and hydrophobicity rendered GAC an effective absorber of airborne microorganisms. Two regenerate methods, ultraviolet irradiation and high pressure vapor, were compared for the regeneration of used activated carbon. High pressure vapor was an effective technique as it totally destroyed the microorganisms adhered to the activated carbon. | 4 | Reduction and characterization of bioaerosols in a wastewater treatment station via ventilation显示文摘Bioaerosols from wastewater treatment processes are a significant subgroup of atmospheric aerosols. In the present study,airborne microorganisms generated from a wastewater treatment station(WWTS) that uses an oxidation ditch process were diminished by ventilation.Conventional sampling and detection methods combined with cloning/sequencing techniques were applied to determine the groups,concentrations,size distributions,and species diversity of airborne microorganisms before and after ventilation. There were 3021 ± 537 CFU/m3 of airborne bacteria and 926 ± 132 CFU/m3 of airborne fungi present in the WWTS bioaerosol.Results showed that the ventilation reduced airborne microorganisms significantly compared to the air in the WWTS. Over 60% of airborne bacteria and airborne fungi could be reduced after4 hr of air exchange. The highest removal(92.1% for airborne bacteria and 89.1% for fungi) was achieved for 0.65–1.1 μm sized particles. The bioaerosol particles over 4.7 μm were also reduced effectively. Large particles tended to be lost by gravitational settling and small particles were generally carried away,which led to the relatively easy reduction of bioaerosol particles0.65–1.1 μm and over 4.7 μm in size. | 6 | Microbial aerosol particles in four seasons of sanitary landfill site:Molecular approaches,traceability and risk assessment显示文摘Landfill sites are regarded as prominent sources of bioaerosols for the surrounding atmosphere.The present study focused on the emission of airborne bacteria and fungi in four seasons of a sanitary landfill site.The main species found in bioaerosols were assayed using high-throughput sequencing.The Source Tracker method was utilized to identify the sources of the bioaerosols present at the boundary of the landfill site.Furthermore,the health consequences of the exposure to bioaerosols were evaluated based on the average daily dose rates.Results showed that the concentrations of airborne bacteria in the operation area(OPA)and the leakage treatment area(LTA)were in the range of(4684±477)–(10883±1395)CFU/m^(3) and(3179±453)–(9051±738)CFU/m^(3),respectively.The average emission levels of fungal aerosols were 4026 CFU/m^(3) for OPA and 1295 CFU/m^(3) for LTA.The landfill site received the maximum bioaerosol load during summer and the minimum during winter.Approximately 41.39%–86.24%of the airborne bacteria had a particle size of 1.1 to 4.7μm,whereas 48.27%–66.45%of the airborne fungi had a particle size of more than 4.7μm.Bacillus sp.,Brevibacillus sp.,and Paenibacillus sp.were abundant in the bacterial population,whereas Penicillium sp.and Aspergillus sp.dominated the fungal population.Bioaerosols released from the working area and treatment of leachate were the two main sources that emerged in the surrounding air of the landfill site boundary.The exposure risks during summer and autumn were higher than those in spring and winter. | Lin Li Jiawei Ma Kaixiong Yang Fengguang Chai Junxin Liu Xuesong Guo | 2021 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,10: | 3 |

| 8 | Melatonin antagonizes ovarian aging via YTHDF2-MAPK-NF-κB pathway显示文摘Cellular senescence is closely associated with age-related diseases.Ovarian aging,a special type of organ senescence,is the pathophysiological foundation of the diseases of the reproductive system.It is characterized by the loss of integrity of the surface epithelium and a gradual decrease in the number of human ovarian surface epithelial cells(HOSEpiCs).To contribute to the research on delaying ovarian aging,we aimed to investigate the novel epigenetic mechanism of melatonin in protecting HOSEpiCs.We discovered that melatonin has antagonistic effects against the oncogene-induced senescence(OIS)of HOSEpiCs.Mechanistically,the oncogene Ras decreased the expression of YTHDF2,which is the reader of RNA-m6A,by stimulating the generation of reactive oxygen species(ROS).Moreover,we found that the suppression of YTHDF2 increased the expression of MAP2K4 and MAP4K4 by enhancing the stability of the transcription of their mRNAs,thereby upregulating the expression of the senescence-associated secretory phenotype(SASP)through the activation of the MAP2K4 and MAP4K4-dependent nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB)signaling pathways.We further determined that melatonin has antagonistic effects against the OIS of HOSEpiCs by inhibiting the ROS-YTHDF2-MAPK-NF-κB pathway.These findings provide key insights into the potential avenues for preventing and treating ovarian aging. | Ruigong Zhu Xian Ji Xuan Wu Jiajing Chen Xuesong Li Hong Jiang Haiping Fu Hui Wang Zhe Lin Xin Tang Shixiu Sun Qingguo Li Bingjian Wang Hongshan Chen | 2022 | Genes & Diseases2022,9,2: | 2 |
