Haze insights and mitigation in China: An overview显示文摘The present article provides an overview of the chemical and physical features of haze in China, focusing on the relationship between haze and atmospheric fine particles, and the formation mechanism of haze. It also summarizes several of control technologies and strategies to mitigate the occurrence of haze. The development of instruments and the analysis of measurements of ambient particles and precursor concentrations have provided important information about haze formation. Indeed, the use of new instruments has greatly facilitated current haze research in China. Examples of insightful results include the relationship between fine particles and haze, the chemical compositions and sources of particles, the impacts of the aging process on haze formation, and the application of technologies that control the formation of haze. Based on these results, two relevant issues need to be addressed: understanding the relationship between haze and fine particles and understanding how to control PM2.5. | Xuliang Zhuang Yuesi Wang Hong He Jianguo Liu Xinming Wang Tingyu Zhu Maofa Ge Ju Zhou Guiqian Tang Jinzhu Ma | 2014 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,1: | 12
The intrinsic mechanism of corrosion resistance for FCC high entropy alloys显示文摘The concept of high entropy alloys(HEAs) or multi-principal component alloys has inspired a great progress of physical metallurgy along with several unusual phenomena. The high corrosion resistance of HEAs was frequently mentioned but without convincing explanations. In this paper, the intrinsic mechanism of corrosion resistance in FCC HEAs was revealed by designing equal atomic alloys with single solid solution phase. The results showed that the Cr element in FCC HEAs played the dominant role in the corrosion resistance rather than the simple structure from high entropy effect or uniform element distribution. | shang xuliang wang zhijun he feng wang jincheng li junjie yu jiakang | 2018 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2018,61,2: | 11
Matrix stiffness modulates tip cell formation through the p-PXN-Rac1-YAP signaling axis显示文摘Endothelial tip cell outgrowth of blood-vessel sprouts marks the initiation of angiogenesis which is critical in physiological and pathophysiological procedures. However, how mechanical characteristics of extracellular matrix(ECM)modulates tip cell formation has been largely neglected. In this study,we found enhanced CD31 expression in the stiffening outer layer of hepatocellular carcinoma than in surrounding soft tissues.Stiffened matrix promoted sprouting from endothelial cell(EC)spheroids and upregulated expressions of tip cell-enriched genes in vitro. Moreover, tip cells showed increased cellular stiffness, more actin cytoskeleton organization and enhanced YAP nuclear transfer than stalk and phalanx ECs.We further uncovered that substrate stiffness regulates FAK and Paxillin phosphorylation in focal adhesion of ECs promoting Rac1 transition from inactive to active state.YAP is subsequently activated and translocated into nucleus, leading to increased tip cell specification.p-Paxillin can also loosen the intercellular connection which also facilitates tip cell specification.Collectively our present study shows that matrix stiffness modulates tip cell formation through p-PXN-Rac1-YAP signaling axis, shedding light on the role of mechanotransduction in tip cell formation. This is of special significance in biomaterial design and treatment of some pathological situations. | Yaru Guo Feng Mei Ying Huang Siqin Ma Yan Wei Xuehui Zhang Mingming Xu Ying He Boon Chin Heng Lili Chen Xuliang Deng | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,1: | 4
Applicability of cosmic-ray neutron sensor for measuring soil moisture at the agricultural-pastoral ecotone in northwest China显示文摘Accurate monitoring of soil moisture is crucial in hydrological and ecological studies.Cosmic-ray neutron sensors(CRNS)measure area-average soil moisture at field scale, filling a spatial scale gap between in-situ observations and remote sensing measurements. However, its applicability has not been assessed in the agricultural-pastoral ecotone,a data scarce semiarid and arid region in Northwest China(APENC).In this study,we calibrated and assessed the CRNS(the standard N0 method)estimates of soil moisture. Results show that Pearson correlation coefficient,RP,and the root mean square error(RMSE)between the CRNS soil moisture and the gravimetric soil moisture are 0.904 and less than 0.016 m3 m–3,respectively,indicating that the CRNS is able to estimate the area-average soil moisture well at our study site.Compared with the in-situ sensor network measurements(ECH2O sensors),the CRNS is more sensitive to the changes in moisture in its footprint, which overestimates and underestimates the soil moisture under precipitation and dry conditions, respectively. The three shape parameters a0,a1,a2 in the standard calibration equation(N0 method)are not well suited to the study area. The calibrated parameters improved the accuracy of the CRNS soil moisture estimates.Due to the lack of low gravimetric soil moisture data, performance of the calibrated N0 function is still poor in the extremely dry conditions. Moreover, aboveground biomass including vegetation biomass, canopy interception and widely developed biological soil crusts adds to the uncertainty of the CRNS soil moisture estimates.Such biomass impacts need to be taken into consideration to further improve the accuracy of soil moisture estimation by the CRNS in the data scarce areas such as agricultural-pastoral ecotone in Northwest China. | Xingyan TAN Lanhui ZHANG Chansheng HE Yuzuo ZHU Zhibo HAN Xuliang LI | 2020 | Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,11: | 2
Medical Additive Manufacturing: From a Frontier Technology to the Research and Development of Products显示文摘1.Research and development(R&D)and the challenges of raw materials for medical additive manufacturing Raw materials for medical additive manufacturing have a wide range of commonalities that are also seen in many other fields, making them an important basis in the field of three-dimensional(3D)printing.Problems and challenges related to material types, powder properties, formability, viscoelasticity, and so forth also share common features. For example, many metal materials are used in the field of aviation, while metals, polymers, and inorganic materials are used in the field of biomedicine. The most widely used materials in biomedicine are biocompatible.Various homogeneous and non-homogeneous composites are also available for 3D printing, and impose an additional challenge in additive manufacturing;the use of heterogeneous composites in 3D printing is particularly challenging. | Guixing Qiu Wenjiang Ding Wei Tian Ling Qin Yu Zhao Lianmeng Zhang Jian Lu Daijie Chen Guangyi Yuan Chengtie Wu Bingheng Lu Ruxu Du Jimin Chen Mo Elbestawi Zhongwei Gu Dichen Li Wei Sun Yuanjin Zhao Jie He Dadi Jin Bin Liu Kai Zhang Jianmo Li Kam WLeong Dewei Zhao Dingjun Hao Yingfang Ao Xuliang Deng Huilin Yang ShaoKeh Hsu Yingqi Chen Long Li Jianping Fan Guohui Nie Yun Chen Hui Zeng Wei Chen Yuxiao Lai | 2020 | Engineering2020,6,11: | 1
Development of Bioimplants with 2D, 3D, and 4D Additive Manufacturing Materials显示文摘Over the past 30 years, additive manufacturing(AM)has developed rapidly and has demonstrated great potential in biomedical applications.AM is a materials-oriented manufacturing technology, since the solidification mechanism, architecture resolution,post-treatment process, and functional application are based on the materials to be printed.However,3D printable materials are still quite limited for the fabrication of bioimplants. In this work.2D/3D AM materials for bioimplants are reviewed.Furthermore, inspired by Tai Chi,a simple yet novel soft/rigid hybrid 4D AM concept is advanced to develop complex and dynamic biological structures in the human body based on 4D printing hybrid ceramic precursor/ceramic materials that were previously developed by our group. With the development of multi-material printing technology, the development of bioimplants and soft/rigid hybrid biological structures with 2D/3D/4D AM materials can be anticipated. | Guo Liu Yunhu He Pengchao Liu Zhou Chen Xuliang Chen Lei Wan Ying Li Jian Lu | 2020 | Engineering2020,6,11: | 1
InP-based directly modulated monolithic integrated few-mode transmitter显示文摘A monolithic integrated few-mode transmitter comprising of two directly modulated distributed feedback lasers and a multimode-interference-coupler-based mode converter-multiplexer with 66% mode conversion efficiency was designed and demonstrated. A fundamental TE0 mode and a first-order TE1 mode were successfully generated from the transmitter, with the output power of 4 and 5.5 mW at a pump current of around 150 mA, respectively,at the common output port. The small signal modulation bandwidth of the TE0 and TE1 channels reached 17.4 and 14.7 GHz, respectively. Error-free 2 × 10-Gbit∕s direct modulation of the two-mode transmitter was demonstrated, with a power penalty of 4.3 dB between the TE0 mode and the TE1 mode at the bit error rate of 1 × 10^(-9). | ZHAOSONG LI DAN Lu YIMING HE FANGYUAN MENG XULIANG ZHOU JIAOQING PAN | 2018 | Photonics Research2018,6,5: | 1
Highly sensitive smartphone-based detection of Listeria monocytogenes using SYTO9显示文摘Listeriosis is caused by Listeria monocytogenes(LM) and is currently considered to be one of the leading food-borne diseases worldwide, with mortality rate of 20%~30%. Currently, detection methods for LM are time-consuming with low sensitivity, and delayed detection results. SYTO9 has a high affinity for DNA and exhibits enhanced fluorescence upon binding. Therefore, this study used SYTO9 staining and image processing to develop a rapid loop mediated isothermal amplification(LAMP) detection method for LM. Smartphone was successfully used for detecting the color change in different concentrations of LM. Besides, the optimized LAMP reaction temperature was 63 °C by color identification, and the limit of detection for LM was 6 copies/μL in the green channel. So, the developed method, based on image processing, is simple, sensitive and rapid, which provides a new idea and method for rapid detection of LM and other food-borne bacterial pathogens. | Sha Liu Xuliang He Tao Zhang Kaixuan Zhao Changhu Xiao Zengrui Tong Lian Jin Nongyue He Yan Deng Song Li Yuan Guo Zhu Chen | 2022 | Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,4: | 1

Deep Duplex Thrust in the Sangzhi-Shimen Tectonic Belt,in the West Hunan and Hubei Areas显示文摘Recent studies indicate that there is a large buried body developing in the Sangzhi-Shimen tectonic belt, which is between the Xuefeng intracontinental deformation system and the Xiangexi tectonic belt.In order to explore the tectonic evolution and main deformation-controlling factors of the buried body,we carried out a series of studies and built two new models based on the latest seismic data and fault-related fold theory. These new models show that the deformation of the buried body in the north segment of the study area is different from that in the middle-south segment. After further study,we found the main factors leading to these differences were:(1)the magnitude of the principal stress,(2)the range of tectonic movements,and(3)the morphology and depth of the basement detachment.Subsequently, with the physical simulation experiments,a 3D evolution model of the study area was built. | Xuliang Zhang Dengfa He | 2020 | Journal of Earth Science2020,31,1: | 0
Electrical charge on ferroelectric nanocomposite membranes enhances SHED neural differentiation显示文摘Stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth(SHED)uniquely exhibit high proliferative and neurogenic potential.Charged biomaterials have been demonstrated to promote neural differentiation of stem cells, but the dose-response effect of electrical stimuli from these materials on neural differentiation of SHED remains to be elucidated. Here,by utilizing different annealing temperatures prior to corona poling treatment,BaTiO_(3)/P(VDF-TrFE)ferroelectric nanocomposite membranes with varying charge polarization intensity(d_(33)≈0,4,12 and 19 pC N^(-1))were fabricated.Enhanced expression of neural markers, increased cell elongation and more prominent neurite outgrowths were observed with increasing surface charge of the nanocomposite membrane indicating a dose-response effect of surface electrical charge on SHED neural differentiation.Further investigations of the underlying molecular mechanisms revealed that intracellular calcium influx, focal adhesion formation,FAK-ERK mechanosensing pathway and neurogenic-related ErbB signaling pathway were implicated in the enhancement of SHED neural differentiation by surface electrical charge.Hence, this study confirms the dose-response effect of biomaterial surface charge on SHED neural differentiation and provides preliminary insights into the molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways involved. | Xiaochan Li Boon Chin Heng Yunyang Bai Qianqian Wang Min Gao Ying He Xinwen Zhang Xuliang Deng Xuehui Zhang | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,2: | 0
