The experimental results indicate that influences of the dynamic factors on flow morphology can be expressed quantitatively with the parameterφ(k). The flow field takes on different morphology with change in values of φ(k). For thick and thin walled castings, the main dynamic factors influencing flow morphology are gravity and surface tension respectively. | 5 | MICROSTRUCTURE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF Mg-Li ALLOY WITH Ca ADDITION显示文摘Mg-9wt%Li-2wt%Zn alloy was prepared and studied in this article. The addition of Ca to the alloy from 0.1wt% to 1wt% can refine the α-Mg and the best effect of refinement occurs when Ca content is 0.4wt%-0.5wt%. The billets can be rolled to thin sheets at room temperature, from which it is obvious that the addition of Ca improves alloys’ formality, while it decreases with the excess addition of Ca. The results also show that the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) and yield strength (YS) of the alloy with 1wt% Ca may rise by 28% and 25%, respectively, however, the elongation decreases. It is clarified that the adsorption of proper Ca on the grain boundaries refines α-Mg and improves the tensile properties, but the presence of excess Ca and stable Ca2Mg6Zn3 phase worsens the elongation. | H.B. | 16 | NEW ACHIEVEMENTS ON THE THEORY AND TECHNOLOGY OF EXPLOSIVE WELDING显示文摘There are four new achievements of this work on the theory and technology of explosive welding.(1) It has been found and defined three kinds of bonding interfaces: big wavy, small wavy and micro wavy, and the micro wavy interface is the best. In a cladding plate,it is for the first time to find that the form of interface presents regular distribution.(2) Although the interface has the features of melt, diffusion and pressure welding in the mean time, the seam and 'hole' brought by the melt weaken the bonding strength of interface greatly, and the effect of melt on interface must be eliminated in explosive welding, so explosive welding is not a melt weld. The diffusion welding is a kind of form of pressure welding, and the diffusion is not the reason of the bonding of interface but the result of interface high pressure. So the diffusion welding cannot also explain the bonding mechanism of it. The experiment and theory make clear that explosive welding is a special pressure one.(3) To get good interface of no melt, explosive charge must be selected on the low limit of welding windows. In explosive welding, the drive plate should be treated as the viscous and plastoelastic body, not incompressible fluid. The bending moment under the explosive welding loading must be greater than that under dynamic limit of drive plate. According to the condition, the lower limit of explosive welding is obtained. It is about 20% less than that obtained by tradition calculation, and suitable for engineering application.(4) It is for the first time to test and study on soil anvil characteristics and change regularity under explosive welding impact loading. In the current work, mechanical relaxations in a La30Ce30Al15Co25 bulk metallic glass were probed by dynamic mechanical analysis. In contrast to many metallic glasses, La30Ce30Al15Co25 metallic glass shows a pronounced slow β relaxation peak. Physical aging below the glass transition temperature Tgleads to an increase of the apparent activation energy and a decrease of the slow β relaxation magnitude. Thus, an electromagnetic repulsive force applied by the metal melt exerts on the pri mary phase when the movement of the melt in the direction of electromagnetic force is limited. As a result, the repulsive force exerts on the primary phase to push them to move in the direction opposite to that of the electromagnetic force when the metal melt with primary phase solidifies under an electromagnetic force field. Based on this, a new method for production of in situ surface composite and gradient material by electromagnetic force is proposed. An in situ primary Si reinforced surface composite of Al-15wt%Si alloy and gradient material of Al-l9wt%Si alloy were produced by this method. The microhardness of the primary Si is HV1320. The reinforced phase size is in the range from 40μm to 100μm. The wear resistance of Al-Si alloy gradient material can be more greatly increased than that of their matrix material. | Z.M. Xu, T.X.
