1Artificial periosteum in bone defect repair--A review显示文摘Periosteum is a thin membrane that encases the surfaces of most bones.It is composed of an outer fibrous layer contains longitudinally oriented cells and collagen fibers and an inner cambial layer that consists of multipotent mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)and osteogenic progenitor cells.Periosteum has a function of regulating cell and collagen arrangement,which is important to the integrity,modelling and remodelling of bone,particularly during bone defect repair.Apart from autograft and allograft,artificial periosteum,or tissue-engineered periosteum mimicking native periosteum in structure or function,made up of small intestinal submucosa,acellular dermis,induced membrane,cell sheets,and polymeric scaffolds,and so on,has been developed to be used in bone defect repair.In this review,we classify the artificial periosteum into three approaches based on the material source,that is,native tissues,scaffoldfree cell sheets and scaffold-cell composites.Mechanisms,methods and efficacy of each approach are provided.Existing obstacles and enabling technologies for future directions are also discussed.Quan Wang Jianxiang Xu Haiming Jin Wenhao Zheng Xiaolei Zhang Yixing Huang Zhiyong Qian 2017Chinese Chemical Letters2017,28,9:6
2Effectiveness of Catch-Up Vaccinations after COVID-19 Containment--China,2020显示文摘Introduction:In the early stages of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)epidemic in China,the highest level of public health emergency response(Level 1 Response)was launched in all province-level administrative divisions(PLADs)across the country.Provision of vaccination services was selectively suspended due to the physical distancing and gathering restrictions required of Level 1 Response.The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on vaccination services and the effectiveness of selective vaccination service suspension and catch-up vaccinations in China.Methods:Vaccine doses administered,routine vaccination coverage levels,catch-up vaccine doses administered,and coverage levels after the catch-up campaign were determined from individual vaccination records in sampled clinics,standard routine immunization administrative coverage reports,and catch-up vaccination activity reports submitted by PLADs between October 2019 and October 2020.Results:National Immunization Program(NIP)and non-NIP vaccine doses administered in sampled clinics decreased by 80% and 90%,respectively,compared with doses administered before the COVID-19 pandemic.Coverage with the birth dose of hepatitis B vaccine(HepB1)and the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin vaccine(BCG)—two vaccinations recommended to continue throughout the epidemic due to their timecritical nature—were maintained at over 85%,while coverage of other NIP vaccines decreased to below 60%by February 2020.Catch-up vaccination coverage of the 29 PLADs,excluding Xinjiang and Xizang(Tibet),began in April 2020 and exceeded 90%;Hubei catch-up coverage was 95% by October 2020.Conclusions and Implications for Public Health Practice:The COVID-19 pandemic had a great impact on China’s vaccination services.During the epidemic and time of local transmission of the coronavirus,HepB1,BCG,rabies vaccine for postexposure prophylaxis,and tetanus antitoxin(TAT)for wound prophylaxis were maintained at high levels.Of the 69 million vaccine doses postponed during the time of local transmission of the coronavirus,94% were administered in the catch-up campaign.China’s pandemic immunization practices may provide evidence for other countries’immunization programs.Jing Wu Wenzhou Yu Lei Cao Lingsheng Cao Lance Rodewald Jiakai Ye Yifan Song Li Li Xiaoxue Liu Ning Wen Fuzhen Wang Lixin Hao Yixing Li Hui Zheng Keli Li Chao Ma Dan Wu Yanmin Liu Guomin Zhang Zhijie An Huaqing Wang Zundong Yin 2020China CDC weekly2020,2,50:6
3Preparation of nitrogen and sulfur co-doped ultrathin graphitic carbon via annealing bagasse lignin as potential electrocatalyst towards oxygen reduction reaction in alkaline and acid media显示文摘Renewable lignin used for synthesizing materials has been proven to be highly potential in specific electrochemistry.Here,we report a simple method to synthesize nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon nanosheets by using bagasse lignin,denoted as lignin-derived carbon(LC).By adjusting the ratio of nitrogen source and annealing temperature,we obtained the ultrathin graphitic lignin carbon(LC-4-1000)with abundant wrinkles with high surface area of 1208 m2g_1 and large pore volume of 1.40 cm3g_1.In alkaline medium,LC-4-1000 has more positive half-wave potential and nearly current density compared to commercial Pt/C for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR).More importantly,LC-4-1000 also exhibits comparable activity and superior stability for ORR in acid medium due to its high graphitic N ratio and a direct four electron pathway for ORR.This study develops a cost-effective and highly efficient method to prepare biocarbon catalyst for ORR in fuel cells.Yixing Shen Feng Peng Yonghai Cao Jianliang Zuo Hongjuan Wang Hao Yu 2019Journal of Energy Chemistry2019,28,7:5

5Melatonin alleviates alcoholic liver disease via EGFR-BRG1-TERT axis regulation显示文摘Chronic alcohol consumption causes liver steatosis,cell death,and inflammation.Melatonin(MLT)is reported to alleviate alcoholic liver disease(ALD)-induced injury.However,its direct regulating targets in hepatocytes are not fully understood.In the current study,a cell-based screening model and a chronic ethanol-fed mice ALD model were used to test the protective mechanisms of MLT.MLT ameliorated ethanol-induced hepatocyte injury in both cell and animal models(optimal doses of 10μmol/L and 5 mg/kg,respectively),including lowered liver steatosis,cell death,and inflammation.RNA-seq analysis and loss-of-function studies in AML-12 cells revealed that telomerase reverse transcriptase(TERT)was a key downstream effector of MLT.Biophysical assay found that epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)on the hepatocyte surface was a direct binding and regulating target of MLT.Liver specific knock-down of Tert or Egfr in the ALD mice model impaired MLT-mediated liver protection,partly through the regulation of nuclear brahma-related gene-1(BRG1).Long-term administration(90 days)of MLT in healthy mice did not cause evident adverse effect.In conclusion,MLT is an efficacious and safe agent for ALD alleviation.Its direct regulating target in hepatocytes is EGFR and downstream BRG1-TERT axis.MLT might be used as a complimentary agent for alcoholics.Zhaodi Che Yali Song Chengfang Xu Wei Li Zhiyong Dong Cunchuan Wang Yixing Ren Kwok-Fai So George L.Tipoe Fei Wang Jia Xiao 2023Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,1:2
6Cu/ACF adsorbent modified by non-thermal plasma for simultaneous adsorption–oxidation of H_(2)S and PH_(3)显示文摘Non-thermal plasma(NTP)surface modification technology is a new method to control the surface properties of materials,which has been widely used in the field of environmental protection because of its short action time,simple process and no pollution.In this study,Cu/ACF(activated carbon fiber loaded with copper)adsorbent was modified with NTP to remove H_(2)S and PH_(3) simultaneously under low temperature and micro-oxygen condition.Meanwhile,the effects of different modified atmosphere(air,N_(2) and NH_(3)),specific energy input(0–13 J/mL)and modification time(0–30 min)on the removal of H_(2)S and PH_(3) were investigated.Performance test results indicated that under the same reaction conditions,the adsorbent modified by NH_(3) plasma with 5 J/mL for 10 min had the best removal effect on H_(2)S and PH_(3).CO_(2) temperature-programmed desorption and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)analyzes showed that NH_(3) plasma modification could introduce amino functional groups on the surface of the adsorbent,and increase the types and number of alkaline sites on the surface.Brunauer-Emmett-Teller and scanning electron microscopy showed that NH_(3) plasma modification did not significantly change the pore size structure of the adsorbent,but more active components were evenly exposed to the surface,thus improving the adsorption performance.In addition,X-ray diffraction and XPS analysis indicated that the consumption of active components(Cu and Cu_(2)O)and the accumulation of sulfate and phosphate on the surface and inner pores of the adsorbent are the main reasons for the deactivation of the adsorbent.Xinyu Yang Kai Li Chi Wang Fei Wang Xin Sun Yixing Ma Yuan Li Lei Shi Ping Ning 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,5:2

13Inverse uncertainty characteristics of pollution source identification for river chemical spill incidents by stochastic analysis显示文摘Identifying source information after river chemical spill occurrences is critical for emergency responses.However,the inverse uncertainty characteristics of this kind of pollution source inversion problem have not yet been clearly elucidated.To fill this gap,stochastic analysis approaches,including a regional sensitivity analysis method,identifiability plot and perturbation methods,were employed to conduct an empirical investigation on generic inverse uncertainty characteristics under a well-accepted uncertainty analysis framework.Case studies based on field tracer experiments and synthetic numerical tracer experiments revealed several new rules.For example,the release load can be most easily inverted,and the source location is responsible for the largest uncertainty among the source parameters.The diffusion and convection processes are more sensitive than the dilution and pollutant attenuation processes to the optimization of objective functions in terms of structural uncertainty.The differences among the different objective functions are smaller for instantaneous release than for continuous release cases.Small monitoring errors affect the inversion results only slightly,which can be ignored in practice.Interestingly,the estimated values of the release location and time negatively deviate from the real values,and the extent is positively correlated with the relative size of the mixing zone to the objective river reach.These new findings improve decision making in emergency responses to sudden water pollution and guide the monitoring network design.Jiping Jiang Feng Han Yi Zheng Nannan Wang Yixing Yuan 2018Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2018,12,5:1

20A near-complete genome assembly of the allotetrapolyploid Cenchrus fungigraminus(JUJUNCAO)provides insights into its evolution and C4 photosynthesis显示文摘JUJUNCAO(Cenchrus fungigraminus;2n=4x=28)is a Cenchrus grass with the highest biomass production among cultivated plants,and it can be used for mushroom cultivation,animal feed,and biofuel production.Here,we report a nearly complete genome assembly of JUJUNCAO and reveal that JUJUNCAO is an allopolyploid that originated2.7 million years ago(mya).Its genome consists of two subgenomes,and subgenome A shares high collinear synteny with pearl millet.We also investigated the genome evolution of JUJUNCAO and suggest that the ancestral karyotype of Cenchrus split into the A and B ancestral karyotypes of JUJUNCAO.Comparative transcriptome and DNA methylome analyses revealed functional divergence of homeologous gene pairs between the two subgenomes,which was a further indication of asymmetric DNA methylation.The three types of centromeric repeat in the JUJUNCAO genome(CEN137,CEN148,and CEN156)may have evolved independently within each subgenome,with some introgressions of CEN156 from the B to the A subgenome.We investigated the photosynthetic characteristics of JUJUNCAO,revealing its typical C4 Kranz anatomy and high photosynthetic efficiency.NADP-ME and PEPCK appear to cooperate in the major C4 decarboxylation reaction of JUJUNCAO,which is different from other C4 photosynthetic subtypes and may contribute to its high photosynthetic efficiency and biomass yield.Taken together,our results provide insights into the highly efficient photosynthetic mechanism of JUJUNCAO and provide a valuable reference genome for future genetic and evolutionary studies,as well as genetic improvement of Cenchrus grasses.Huakun Zheng Baiyu Wang Xiuting Hua Ruiting Gao Yuhao Wang Zixin Zhang Yixing Zhang Jing Mei Yongji Huang Yumin Huang Hui Lin Xingtan Zhang Dongmei Lin Siren Lan Zhongjian Liu Guodong Lu Zonghua Wang Ray Ming Jisen Zhang Zhanxi Lin 2023Plant Communications2023,4,5:1
