| 4 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. | 5 | Quantifying the effects of short-term heat stress at booting stage on nonstructural carbohydrates remobilization in rice显示文摘Extreme heat stress events are becoming more frequent under anticipated climate change,which can have devastating impacts on rice growth and yield.To quantify the effects of short-term heat stress at booting stage on nonstructural carbohydrates(NSC)remobilization in rice,two varieties(Nanjing 41 and Wuyunjing 24)were subjected to 32/22/27°C(maximum/minimum/mean),36/26/31°C,40/30/35°C,and 44/34/39°C for 2,4 and 6 days in phytotrons at booting stage during 2014 and 2015.Yield and yield components,dry matter partitioning index(DMPI),NSC accumulation and translocation were measured and calculated.The results showed that the increase of high-temperature level and duration significantly reduced grain yield by suppressing spikelet number per panicle,seed-setting rate,and grain weight.Heat stress at booting decreased DMPI in panicles,increased DMPI in stems,but had no significant effect on photosynthetic rate.Stem NSC concentration increased whereas panicles NSC concentration,stem NSC translocation efficiency,and contribution of stem NSC to grain yield decreased.Severe heat stress even transformed the stem into a carbohydrate sink during grain filling.The heat-tolerant Wuyunjing 24 showed a higher NSC transport capacity under heat stress than the heat-sensitive Nanjing 41.Heat degree-days(HDD),which combines the effects of the intensity and duration of heat stress,used for quantifying the impacts of heat stress indicates the threshold HDD for the termination of NSC translocation is 9.82°C day.Grain yield was negatively correlated with stem NSC concentration and accumulation at maturity,and yield reduction was tightly related to NSC translocation reduction.The results suggest that heat stress at booting inhibits NSC translocation due to sink size reduction.Therefore,genotypes with higher NSC transport capacity under heat stress could be beneficial for rice yield formation. | Fengxian Zhen Junjie Zhou Aqib Mahmood Wei Wang Xini Chang Bing Liu Leilei Liu Weixing Cao Yan Zhu Liang Tang | 2020 | The Crop Journal2020,8,2: | 9 |

| 7 | Corticosteroid therapy in ulcerative colitis:Clinical response and predictors显示文摘AIM:To evaluate clinical response to initial corticosteroid(CS) treatment in Chinese ulcerative colitis patients(UC) and identify predictors of clinical response.METHODS:Four hundred and twenty-three UC patients who were initially treated with oral or intravenous CS from 2007 to 2011 were retrospectively reviewed at eight inflammatory bowel disease centers in China,and 101 consecutive cases with one-year follow-up were analyzed further for clinical response and predictors.Short-term outcomes within one month were classified as primary response and primary non-response.Longterm outcomes within one year were classified as prolonged CS response,CS dependence and secondary non-response.CS refractoriness included primary and secondary non-response.Multivariate analyses were performed to identify predictors associated with clinical response.RESULTS:Within one month,95.0%and 5.0%of the cases were classified into primary response andnon-response,respectively.Within one year,41.6%of cases were assessed as prolonged CS response,while49.5%as CS dependence and 4.0%as secondary nonresponse.The rate of CS refractoriness was 8.9%,while the cumulative rate of surgery was 6.9%within one year.After multivariate analysis of all the variables,tenesmus was found to be a negative predictor of CS dependence(OR=0.336;95%CI:0.147-0.768;P=0.013)and weight loss as a predictor of CS refractoriness(OR=5.662;95%CI:1.111-28.857;P=0.040).After one-month treatment,sustained high Sutherland score(≥6)also predicted CS dependence(OR=2.347;95%CI:0.935-5.890;P=0.014).CONCLUSION:Tenesmus was a negative predictor of CS dependence,while weight loss and sustained high Sutherland score were strongly associated with poor CS response. | Jin Li Fan Wang Hong-Jie Zhang Jian-Qiu Sheng Wen-Feng Yan Min-Xing Ma Ru-Ying Fan Fang Gu Chuan-Feng Li Da-Fan Chen Ping Zheng Yu-Pei Gu Qian Cao Hong Yang Jia-Ming Qian Pin-Jin Hu Bing Xia | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,10: | 5 |
| 8 | Effect of burden and origin sites of premature ventricular contractions on left ventricular function by 7-day Holter monitor显示文摘Recent studies have shown that premature ventricular contractions(PVCs) could enlarge the heart,but its risk factors are incompletely understood as a single 24-hour recording cannot reflect the true PVC burden due to day-to-day variability.Our purpose was to investigate the effect of burden and origin sites on left ventricular(LV) function in patients with PVCs by 7-day Holter electrocardiography(ECG).From May 2012 to August2013,112 consecutive patients with PVCs were recruited from the authors' affiliated hospital.All patients received2-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography,12-lead routing ECG and 7-days Holter ECG.Serum N-terminal probrain natriuretic peptide(NT-proBNP) levels were measured.A total of 102 participants with PVCs were included in the final analysis.Origin of PVCs from the tricuspid annulus had the highest burden and NT-proBNP level.LV papillary muscle had a higher LV ejection fraction(EF) level and a lower LV end-systolic dimension(ESD) than other PVC foci(P<0.05).The high burden group had a higher LV end-diastolic dimension(EDD) and LVESD but lower LVEF than the other two groups(P<0.05).Female,older age,physical work,and history of PVCs had a significantly positive correlation with symptoms.Male,older age,physical work,and high burden were positive predictors of enlarged LVEDD,LVESD and higher serum NT-proBNP level,but lower LVEF.Seven-day dynamic ECG Holter monitor showed the true PVC burden on patients with PVCs.PVCs with a lower burden or origin from the LV papillary muscle and the fascicle were relatively benign,while PVCs with a higher burden or origin from the tricuspid annulus may lead to cardiac dysfunction. | Wenhua Xu Mingfang Li Minglong Chen Bing Yang Daowu Wang Xiangqing Kong Hongwu Chen Weizhu Ju Kai Gu Kejiang Cao Hailei Liu Qi Jiang Jiaojiao Shi Yan Cui Hong Wang | 2015 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2015,29,6: | 4 |
| 9 | Prevalence and trends of aminoglycoside resistance in Shigella worldwide, 1999-2010显示文摘Shigellosis causes diarrheal disease in humans in both developed and developing countries, and multi-drug resistance in Shigella is an emerging problem. Understanding changing resistance patterns is important in determining appropriate antibiotic treatments. This meta-analysis systematically evaluated aminoglycoside resist-ance in Shigella. A systematic review was constructed based on MEDLINE and EMBASE databases. Randomeffect models or fixed-effect models were used based on P value considering the possibility of heterogeneity between studies for meta-analysis. Data manipulation and statistical analyses were performed using software STATA 11.0. By means of meta-analysis, we found a lower resistance to three kinds of aminoglycosides in the Europe-America areas during the 12 year study period than that of the Asia-Africa areas. Kanamycin resistance was observed to be the most common drug resistance among Shigella isolates with a prevalence of 6.88% (95%CI: 6.36%-7.43%). Comparison of data from Europe-America and Asia-Africa areas revealed that Shigella flexneri resistance was greater than the resistance calculated for Shigella sonnei. Importantly,Shigella sonnei has played a significant role in aminoglycoside-resistance in recent years. Similarly, data showed that resistance to these drugs in children was higher than the corresponding data of adults. In conclusion, aminoglycoside-resistant Shigella is not an unusual phenomenon worldwide. Distribution in Shigella resistance differs sharply based on geographic areas, periods of time and subtypes. | 10 | Structural variation during dog domestication: insights from gray wolf and dhole genomes显示文摘Several processes like phenotypic evolution, disease susceptibility and environmental adaptations, which fashion the domestication of animals, are largely attributable to structural variations(SVs) in the genome.Here, we present high-quality draft genomes of the gray wolf(Canis lupus) and dhole(Cuon alpinus) with scaffold N50 of 6.04 Mb and 3.96 Mb, respectively. Sequence alignment comprising genomes of three canid species reveals SVs specific to the dog, particularly 16 315 insertions, 2565 deletions, 443 repeats, 16 inversions and 15 translocations. Functional annotation of the dog SVs associated with genes indicates their enrichments in energy metabolisms, neurological processes and immune systems. Interestingly, we identify and verify at population level an insertion fully covering a copy of the AKR1 B1(Aldo-Keto Reductase Family 1 Member B) transcript. Transcriptome analysis reveals a high level of expression of the new AKR1 B1 copy in the small intestine and liver, implying an increase in de novo fatty acid synthesis and antioxidant ability in dog compared to gray wolf, likely in response to dietary shifts during the agricultural revolution. For the first time, we report a comprehensive analysis of the evolutionary dynamics of SVs during the domestication step of dogs. | 13 | Allotransplantation of adult spinal cord tissues after complete transected spinal cord injury: long-term survival and functional recovery in canines显示文摘Spinal cord injury(SCI), especially complete transected SCI, leads to loss of cells and extracellular matrix and functional impairments. In a previous study, we transplanted adult spinal cord tissues(aSCTs) to replace lost tissues and facilitate recovery in a rat SCI model. However, rodents display considerable differences from human patients in the scale, anatomy and functions of spinal cord systems, and responses after injury. Thus, use of a large animal SCI model is required to examine the repair efficiency of potential therapeutic approaches. In this study, we transplanted allogenic aSCTs from adult dogs to the lesion area of canines after complete transection of the thoracic spinal cord, and investigated the long-term cell survival and functional recovery. To enhance repair efficiency, a growth factor cocktail was added during aSCT transplantation, providing a favorable microenvironment. The results showed that transplantation of a SCTs, in particular with the addition of growth factors, significantly improves locomotor function restoration and increases the number of neurofilament-, microtubule-associated protein2-, 5-hydroxytryptamine-, choline acetyltransferase-and tyrosine hydroxylase-positive neurons in the lesion area at 6 months post-surgery. In addition, we demonstrated that donor neurons in a SCTs can survive for a long period after transplantation. | 14 | The first data release(DR1) of the LAMOST regular survey显示文摘The Large sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope(LAMOST) general survey is a spectroscopic survey that will eventually cover approximately half of the celestial sphere and collect 10 million spectra of stars, galaxies and QSOs. Objects in both the pilot survey and the first year regular survey are included in the LAMOST DR1. The pilot survey started in October 2011 and ended in June 2012, and the data have been released to the public as the LAMOST Pilot Data Release in August 2012. The regular survey started in September 2012, and completed its first year of operation in June 2013. The LAMOST DR1 includes a total of 1202 plates containing 2 955 336 spectra, of which 1 790 879 spectra have observed signalto-noise ratio(SNR) ≥ 10. All data with SNR ≥ 2 are formally released as LAMOST DR1 under the LAMOST data policy. This data release contains a total of 2 204 696 spectra, of which 1 944 329 are stellar spectra, 12 082 are galaxy spectra and 5017 are quasars. The DR1 not only includes spectra, but also three stellar catalogs with measured parameters: late A,FGK-type stars with high quality spectra(1 061 918 entries), A-type stars(100 073 entries), and M-type stars(121 522 entries). This paper introduces the survey design, the observational and instrumental limitations, data reduction and analysis, and some caveats. | 16 | A new strategy based on acid-alkali complexation for rapidly and accurately fishing phytochemicals in Sennae Folium显示文摘Objective:There are some anthraquinones,anthraquinones and flavonones in Sennae Folium which exhibited significant acidity,such as sennoside A/B and sennoside C/D.The current strategies used in separating these components are mainly based on conventional column chromatography which is time consuming,laborious and costly.This study is aimed at exploring a method of precipitation extraction of acid components in Sennae Folium.Using alkaloid as a'hook',it is reasonable to use the principle of'acid-alkali complexation'to'fish'the acidic components in Sennae Folium.Methods:Isothermal titration calorimeter(ITC)was used to measure the extraction efficiency of different alkaloids.Then,alkaloid determined by ITC was mixed with extracting solution of Sennae Folium to form complex.High performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry(HPLC-MS2)was used to investigate the ingredients'fished'by berberine(Ber).The mechanism of'fishing'process was explained by ITC,optical activity,fluorescence spectrometry and scanning electron microscope.Results:The ITC results proved that the choice of'hook'was particularly important in the process of'fishing'.Among the hooks,the fishing efficiency of the isoquinoline alkaloids(Ber)was the highest,reaching 10.3%.Nine ingredients were detected and determined by HPLC-MS2,and the main components were sennoside A/B and sennoside C/D.Based on ITC test of Ber and sennoside A,the combination mechanism of the two ingredients was a chemical reaction with a nearly binding ratio(2:1).Fluorescence and optical properties of the active ingredients were changed after complexation.By scanning electron microscope,we found that two types of components had obviously self-assembled behavior during the formation process.Conclusion:Ber successfully'fished'the main acidic components,sennoside A/B and sennoside C/D,from Sennae Folium.Combined with different characterizations,the'fishing'process was determined as a chemical association reaction induced by electrostatic interaction orπ-πstacking.Therefore,with special identification ability,the'fishing'process had the potential of practical application. | Xue-hao Tian Hao Zhang Shen Wang Tong Li Xue-mei Huang Meng-meng Yan Xiao-fei Cao Bing Xu Peng-long Wang Hai-min Lei | 2020 | Chinese Herbal Medicines2020,12,2: | 2 |

| 18 | Application of confocal laser Raman spectroscopy on marine sediment microplastics显示文摘Marine sediment is the primary sink of microplastics and is an indicator of pollution levels.However,although there are well-developed detection methods,detection is rarely focused on lowmicrometer-sized particles,mainly due to technique limitations.In this study,a simplifi ed process omitting digestion procedures was developed to pretreat microplastics obtained from marine sediment and was coupled with micro-Raman spectroscopy to identify microplastics.Based on the overall analysis of the characteristic peak assignments,a Raman spectral reference library was constructed for 18 types of plastic.In addition,the eff ects of the measurement parameters were systematically described.Field research was then conducted to validate the developed process and investigate microplastic contamination in Huiquan Bay,Qingdao,China.This simplifi ed process could retain the original appearance of microparticles and accomplish the detection of<500μm-sized microplastics in environmental samples.Microplastics in the size range of 10-150μm accounted for 76%of all microplastics,and 56%of the total particles was particles smaller than 50μm.Polypropylene(42%)and polyethylene(20%)were predominant components of the particles.In particular,polypropylene particles smaller than 10μm were identifi ed in marine sediment.This work demonstrates that Raman spectroscopy is not only an eff ective tool for detecting environmental particles but also highly applicable for identifying particles extracted from marine sediment. | LIU Jing ZHANG Xin DU Zengfeng LUAN Zhendong LI Lianfu XI Shichuan WANG Bing CAO Lei YAN Jun | 2020 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,5: | 2 |
