3Decadal-to-interdecadal response and adjustment of the North Pacific to prescribed surface forcing in an oceanic general circulation model显示文摘The simulation of a higher-resolution oceanic GCM forced with COADS surface conditions during 1945~1993 was analyzed with insight into how the North Pacific responds to the surface forcing.The decadal-to-interdecadal variabilities in the thermal and dynamical fields especially those associated with the 1976/1977 regime shift in the North Pacific were investigated. The model successfully captures the dominant SST anomaly mode on the decadal-to-interdecadal time scales as well as the major feature of SST anomalies in the 1976/1977 regime shift. The model also successfully reproduces two typical subduction events that link the tropical and extratropical oceanic temperature anomalies during the 1970s and the 1980s. Most importantly, the model simulates the dynamical adjustment of the upper ocean under the surface wind forcing. The typical surface circulation anomaly is characterized by a pattern that is simultaneously related to the wind stress anomalies. The typical anomalous pattern for the entire upper-ocean is characterized by coherent anomalies of two oceanic gyres, i.e., the subtropical and subpolar gyres. The delayed response and slower adjustment of the gyres, especially of the subpolar gyre, give rise to a persistent SST anomaly in the central North Pacific. The upper-ocean heat budgets in three target regions, i.e., the central North Pacific, the Californian coastal region and the KOE region, are examined. The cooling in the central North Pacific around 1976/1977 is attributed to the heat flux and meridional advection anomalies. The associated warming in the Californian coastal region is only due to the heat flux anomaly. 4Effects of tillage managements and maize straw returning on soil microbiome using 16S rDNA sequencing显示文摘Agricultural practices could affect bacterial diversity and community structure by altering soil physical and chemical properties. Straw returning and tillage practices are widely used in agriculture, however, the effects of these agricultural practices on microbiomes are still unclear. In the present study, we compared the 18 bacterial communities of soil with different straw returning and tillage treatment combinations. The V3-V4 regions of the 16S ribosomal RNA were amplified and analyzed by high-throughput sequencing technology. The results showed that the bacterial communities were consistently dominated by Acidobacteria, Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, and Chloroflexi. Short-term straw returning and tillage practices significantly altered the diversity, relative abundance and functions of the soil microbiome. Soil subjected to rotary tillage and straw returning (RTS) combination possessed the highest bacterial diversity and lowest ratio of G+/G- bacteria, indicating that RTS could be an efficient integrated management system to improve microbiome in the short term. Double verifications based on relative abundance and network analysis, revealed close relationships of Mycobacterium and Methylibium with RTS, indicating they could serve as biomarkers for RTS. 8Lonicera caerulea polyphenols inhibit fat absorption by regulating Nrf2-ARE pathway mediated epithelial barrier dysfunction and special microbiota显示文摘Scope:High-fat diet(HFD)induces imbalance in the small intestine environment,where fat digestion and absorption mainly take place.This study aimed to elucidate the mechanisms by which Lonicera caerulea polyphenols(LCP)might inhibit fat absorption,from the perspective of small intestine microbiota and epithelial barrier integrity.Methods and results:Male Sprague-Dawley rats were given HFD with or without co-administration of LCP for 8 weeks.The results showed that LCP supplementation significantly decreased the levels of serum triglycerides(TG),total cholesterol(TC),and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),and increased the contents of fecal sterols,in HFD rats.LCP also inhibited the dysfunction of the small intestine epithelial barrier,via alleviating the oxidative stress activated by Nrf2-ARE pathway,and by modulating the expressions of pro-inflammatory factors such as tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6),cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2),nuclear factor kappa-B p65(NF-κB p65)and inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS)in the small intestine.Additionally,LCP administration restored the balance in small intestine microbiota and increased the abundance of the specific bacteria,such as Lactobacillus,involved in fat absorption.Conclusion:Our results demonstrated that LCP may be beneficial to inhibit fat absorption.The mechanism seems to be associated with the protection of the epithelial barrier integrity and the modulation of specific bacteria in the small intestine.Yuehua Wang Ningxuan Gao Andrea Nieto-Veloza Lingxi Zhou Xiyun Sun Xu Si Jinlong Tian Yang Lin Xinyao Jiao Bin Li 2023Food Science and Human Wellness2023,12,4:1

11The Jidong Eye Cohort Study:objectives,design,and baseline characteristics显示文摘Background:To describe the objective,design and baseline characteristics of the Jidong Eye Cohort Study(JECS),a community-based cohort in China based on etiology,imaging and biomarkers.The JECS will clarify the pathogenesis of visual impairment and status of ocular indicators in the occurrence and progression of cardiocerebrovascular and neurological diseases.Methods:Between August 2019 and January 2020,the JECS recruited consecutive participants aged 18 years and older from the Jidong communities in China.The demographic and clinical characteristics were collected by trained site personnel via face-to-face interviews.The relevant biological samples were also collected.The participants underwent comprehensive ophthalmic examination,such as retinal photography and optical coherence tomography(OCT)angiography.The following outcomes were measured annually:ocular vascular abnormality,optic nerve degeneration,cardiovascular diseases(CVD)and neurological diseases.The study will be performed until 2024.Results:Among 3377 participants,the average age was 45.0±12.5 years and 1809(53.6%)were women.Hypertension occurred in 825 individuals(25.0%),diabetes in 258(7.7%),hyperglycemia in 474(14.2%),and a CVD history in 100(3.0%).The mean best-corrected visual acuity was 0.1 logMAR in the recruited subjects.The average OCT signal index was 8.2±1.2.Additionally,the mean vessel densities for the entire measured area were 46.4%and 50.8%for the superficial and deep vascular complex,respectively.Mean area and perimeter of foveal avascular zone was 0.3 mm2 and 2.3 mm.Conclusions:The JECS is a large community-based prospective cohort in North China.Rich data collected from this study will provide the opportunity to identify risk factors,imaging,and biomarkers of visual impairment(either ocular vascular anomalies or optic nerve degeneration)and to evaluate their associations with CVD and neurological diseases.Kai Yang Lele Cui Guoyun Zhang Xianwei Wang Xiaoxuan Zhu Yunfan Xiao Binbin Su Daiyu Song Xinyao Zhang Yang Zheng Fan Lu Jia Qu Ming Li 2020Eye and Vision2020,7,1:0

13Simulation of the Northern and Southern Hemisphere Annular Modes by CAMS-CSM显示文摘As leading modes of the planetary-scale atmospheric circulation in the extratropics, the Northern Hemisphere(NH)annular mode(NAM) and Southern Hemisphere(SH) annular mode(SAM) are important components of global circulation, and their variabilities substantially impact the climate in mid-high latitudes. A 35-yr(1979-2013) simulation by the climate system model developed at the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences(CAMS-CSM) was carried out based on observed sea surface temperature and sea ice data. The ability of CAMS-CSM in simulating horizontal and vertical structures of the NAM and SAM, relation of the NAM to the East Asian climate, and temporal variability of the SAM is examined and validated against the observational data. The results show that CAMS-CSM captures the zonally symmetric and out-of-phase variations of sea level pressure anomaly between the midlatitudes and polar zones in the extratropics of the NH and SH. The model has also captured the equivalent barotropic structure in tropospheric geopotential height and the meridional shifts of the NH and SH jet systems associated with the NAM and SAM anomalies. Furthermore, the model is able to reflect the variability of northern and southern Ferrel cells corresponding to the NAM and SAM anomalies. The model reproduces the observed relationship of the boreal winter NAM with the East Asian trough and air temperature over East Asia. It also captures the upward trend of the austral summer SAM index during recent decades. However, compared with the observation, the model shows biases in both the intensity and center locations of the NAM's and SAM's horizontal and vertical structures. 14Potential risk of colonization of Bulinus globosus in the mainland of China under climate change显示文摘Background: Bulinus globosus,the main intermediate snail host of Schistosoma haematobium.The increased contacts between Africa and China could even lead to large-scale dissemination of B.globosus in China.Temperature is the key factor affecting fresh-water snail transmission.This study predicted potential risk of colonization of B.globosus in the mainland of China under climate change.Methods: We investigated minimum and maximum temperatures for B.globosus eggs,juveniles and adult snails kept under laboratory conditions to find the most suitable range by pinpointing the median effective temperatures(ET50).We also assessed the influence of temperature on spawning and estimated the accumulated temperature(AT).The average air temperatures between 1955 and 2019 in January and July,the coldest and hottest months in China,respectively,were collected from national meteorological monitoring stations and investigated in a geographic information system(GIS)using empirical Bayesian Kriging to evaluate the theoretical possibility for distribution of B.globosus in southern China based on temperature.Results: The effective minimum temperature(ET50min)for eggs,juveniles,adult snails and spawning were 8.5,7.0,7.0,14.9℃,respectively,with the corresponding maximum values(ET50max)of 36.6,40.5,40.2 and 38.1℃.The AT was calculated at 712.1±64.9℃·d.In 1955,the potential B.globosus distribution would have had a northern boundary stretching from the coastal areas of Guangdong Province and Guangxi Autonomous Region to southern Yunnan Province.Since then,this line has gradually moved northward.Conclusions: Annual regeneration of B.globosus can be supported by the current climate conditions in the mainland of China,and a gradual expansion trend from south to north is shown in the study from 2015 to 2019.Thus,there is a potential risk of colonization of B.globosus in the mainland of China under climate change.Xinyao Wang Saleh Juma Wei Li Mchanga Suleman Mtumweni Ali Muhsin Jian He Mingzhen He Dacheng Xu Jianfeng Zhang Robert Bergquist Kun Yang 2022Infectious Diseases of Poverty2022,11,3:0
15Sex-specific effects of organophosphate ester exposure on child growth trajectories in the first two years显示文摘The connections between urinary organophosphate ester(OPE)metabolites and child growth have been identified in prior research,but there is currently a dearth of epidemiological evidence regarding the sex-specific impact of OPEs on child growth trajectories.This study enrolled 804 maternal-child pairs,and five OPE congeners were quantified in maternal serum during pregnancy.In this study,the impact of prenatal OPE exposure on child growth trajectories was assessed using linear mixed-effect models and a group-based trajectory model(GBTM),with consideration given to sex-specific effects.Fetuses were frequently exposed to OPEs in utero,and tris(2-butoxyethel)phosphate(TBEP)exhibited the highest concentration levels in maternal serum.Among male children,an increase of 2.72 ng/g lipid in TBEP concentration was associated with a 0.11-unit increase in head circumference-for-age z-score(HCAZ),and the effect was mainly concentrated at 1 and 2 months of age.Among female children,an increase of 2.72 ng/g lipid in tris(2-chloro-1-(chloromethyl)ethyl)phosphate(TDCPP)concentration was associated with a 0.15-unit increase in length-for-age z-score(LAZ)and a 0.14-unit increase in weight-for-age z-score(WAZ),and the effects were mainly concentrated at 9 months of age.For HCAZ trajectories,higher prenatal TBEP exposure was associated with higher odds for the fast growth group in male children.For the LAZ and WAZ trajectories,higher prenatal TDCPP exposure was associated with higher odds for the fast growth group in female children.The trajectory analysis approach provided insight into the complex associations between OPE exposure and child growth.Hang Wang Liyi Zhang Jie Wu Pengpeng Wang Qiang Li Xinyao Sui Yaqi Xu Yue Zhao Yang Liu Yunhui Zhang 2023Eco-Environment & Health2023,2,3:0

18On-chip multiphoton Greenberger-Horne Zeilinger state based on integrated frequency combs显示文摘One of the most important multipartite entangled states,Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state(GHZ),serves as a fundamental resource for quantum foundat ion test,quantum communication and quantum computation.To increase the number of entangled particles,significant experimental efforts should been invested due to the complexity of optical setup and the difficulty in maintaining the coherence condition for high-fidelity GHZ state.Here,we propose an ultra-integrated scalable on-chip GHZ state generation scheme based on frequency combs.By designing several microrings pumped by different lasers,multiple partially overlapped quantum frequency combs are generated to supply as the basis for on-chip polarization-encoded GHZ state with each qubit occupying a certain spectral mode.Both even and odd numbers of GHZ states can be engineered with constant small number of integrated components and easily scaled up on the same chip by only adjusting one of the pumnp wavelengths.In addition,we give the on-chip design of projection measurement for characterizing GHZ states and show the reconfigurability of the state.Our proposal is rather simple and feasible within the existing fabrication technologies and we believe it will boost the development of multiphoton technologies.Pingyu Zhu Qilin Zheng Shichuan Xue Chao Wu Xinyao Yu Yang Wang Yingwen Liu Xiaogang Qiang Junjie Wu Ping Xu 2020Frontiers of physics2020,15,6:0
