| 1 | Correlation of E-selectin gene polymorphisms with risk of ischemic stroke A meta-analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the association of E-selectin S128R polymorphisms with ischemic stroke. DATA SOURCES: A computer-based online search was conducted in PubMed, Elsevier, Ovid Database, the China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang Database between January 1998 and December 2010. STUDY SELECTION: Case-controlled studies addressing the association of the E-selectin polymorphism and ischemic stroke were included in this review. The genotype distribution complied with the Hardy-Weinberg genetic equilibrium. The included reports were evaluated by two authors for strict quality screening. Meta-analysis software, REVMAN 5.1, was used to investigate heterogeneity, pooled odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) in individual studies. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Genotype and allele distributions at the E-selectin S128R site. RESULTS: Six case-controlled studies were included after screening and application of inclusion and exclusion criteria. There was no heterogeneity in the genotype and allele frequencies, and no publication bias was found. Meta-analysis of the pooled data showed that the OR value of the (AC+CC)/AA genotype was 1.93 (95% CI: 1.55-2.41, Z = 5.80, P < 0.000 01), and the OR for the C/A allele was 1.80 (95% CI: 1.47-2.22, Z = 5.59, P < 0.000 01) in the ischemic stroke group, compared with control group. Results of pooled data in Chinese subjects showed that the OR value of (AC+CC)/AA was 2.36 (95% CI: 1.68-3.31, Z = 4.99, P < 0.000 01), and the OR value of the C/A allele was 2.25 (95% CI: 1.63-3.12, Z = 4.89, P < 0.000 01). | 2 | Comparative study of the net exchange of CO_(2) in 3 types of vegetation ecosystems on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Using the eddy covariance method,from 1 July2003 to 30 June 2004, we conducted the observation andanalysis of ecosystem CO2 flux in 3 types of alpine meadowvegetation (Kobresia humilis, Potentilla fruticosa shrub andKobresia tibetica swamp meadows) on the Qinghai-TibetanPlateau. The results show that the Kobresia humilis meadow,the shrub meadow and the swamp meadow’s highest CO2uptake rates are 16.78, 10.42 and 16.57 μmol·m?2·s?1respectively, while their highest CO2 release rates are 8.22,7.73 and 18.67 μmol·m?2·s?1 respectively. The Kobresiahumilis meadow and shrub meadow’s annual atmosphericuptakes are 282 g CO2/m2 and 53 g CO2/m2, respectively,while swamp meadow’s annual atmospheric release is 478 gCO2/m2. This proves that the Kobresia humilis meadow andthe shrub meadow on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau haverelatively low potential for CO2 uptake and release comparedto C4 grasslands, a number of lowland grasslands, andforests. Moreover, swamp meadow has relatively high releasepotential. This, in turn, reveals clear differences in carbonsource/sink between different types of vegetation in theQinghai-Tibetan Plateau alpine meadow ecosystem. | 4 | Cell–cell contact with proinflammatory macrophages enhances the immunotherapeutic effect of mesenchymal stem cells in two abortion models显示文摘Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs),which are pluripotent cells with immunomodulatory properties,have been considered good candidates for the therapy of several immune disorders,such as inflammatory bowel diseases,concanavalin A-induced liver injury,and graft-versus-host disease.The embryo is a natural allograft to the maternal immune system.A successful pregnancy depends on the timely extinction of the inflammatory response induced by embryo implantation,followed by the switch to a tolerant immune microenvironment in both the uterus and the system.Excessive infiltration of immune cells and serious inflammatory responses are triggers for embryo rejection,which results in miscarriage.Here,we demonstrated that adoptive transfer of MSCs could prevent fetal loss in a lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced abortion model and immune response-mediated spontaneous abortion model.The immunosuppressive MSCs alleviated excessive inflammation by inhibiting CD4+T cell proliferation and promoting the decidual macrophage switch to M2 in a tumor necrosis factor-stimulated gene-6(TSG-6)-dependent manner.Cell-tocell contact with proinflammatory macrophages increased the TSG-6 production by the MSCs,thereby enhancing the suppressive regulation of T cells and macrophages.Moreover,proinflammatory macrophages in contact with the MSCs upregulated the expression of CD200 on the stem cells and facilitated the reprogramming of macrophages towards an anti-inflammatory skew through the interaction of CD200 with CD200R on proinflammatory macrophages.Therefore,the results demonstrate that a TSG-6-mediated paracrine effect,reinforced by cell-to-cell contact between MSCs and proinflammatory macrophages,is involved in the mechanism of MSC-mediated abortion relief through the induction of immune tolerance.Our study also indicates the potential application of MSCs in clinical recurrent miscarriages. | Yanhong Li Di Zhang Ling Xu Lin Dong Ji Zheng Yikong Lin Jiefang Huang Yanyun Zhang Yu Tao Xingxing Zang Dajin Li Meirong Du | 2019 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,12: | 23 |

| 6 | Application of next-generation sequencing technology to precision medicine in cancer: joint consensus of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology显示文摘Next-generation sequencing(NGS) technology is capable of sequencing millions or billions of DNA molecules simultaneously.Therefore, it represents a promising tool for the analysis of molecular targets for the initial diagnosis of disease, monitoring of disease progression, and identifying the mechanism of drug resistance. On behalf of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology(CSCO) and the China Actionable Genome Consortium(CAGC), the present expert group hereby proposes advisory guidelines on clinical applications of NGS technology for the analysis of cancer driver genes for precision cancer therapy. This group comprises an assembly of laboratory cancer geneticists, clinical oncologists, bioinformaticians,pathologists, and other professionals. After multiple rounds of discussions and revisions, the expert group has reached a preliminary consensus on the need of NGS in clinical diagnosis, its regulation, and compliance standards in clinical sample collection. | 9 | Investigation on nonlinear lateral-torsional coupled vibration of a rotor system with substantial unbalance显示文摘Substantial unbalance may be caused by fan blade off during the operation period of gas turbine engines,and related dynamic problems are very critical to the safety design of rotor system in aero-engine.This article aims to understand lateral-torsional coupled vibration of the rotor system with substantial unbalance.The governing equation of a modified unbalanced rotor system is established based on Lagrangian approach.Then,a mathematical analytical method is proposed in which a linear approximation is derived and the Floquet theory and Hill’s method are incorporated,from which the modal characteristics of the unbalanced rotor are obtained.The modal characteristics of the unbalanced rotor system are revealed comprehensively for the first time.Furthermore,the relation between the modes and responses of the unbalanced rotor is discussed in detail.The results show that the lateral vibration and torsional vibration of the unbalanced rotor are coupled through the inertial terms in the governing equations.Due to the coupling,veering and lock-in phenomena occur between the frequencies of the forward whirl mode and the torsional mode.Furthermore,lock-in can lead to a kind of principal instability.With regard to the response of the unbalanced rotor,both natural vibration components and enforced vibration components appear in the lateral response,while only natural vibration components appear during torsional vibration.Moreover,natural vibration components play a crucial role in the response within the principal instability region and cause divergence of the vibration amplitudes in the lateral and torsional directions. | Jie HONG Pingchao YU Yanhong MA Dayi ZHANG | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2020,33,6: | 8 |
| 10 | Protonation induced high-T_c phases in iron-based superconductors evidenced by NMR and magnetization measurements显示文摘Chemical substitution during growth is a well-established method to manipulate electronic states of quantum materials, and leads to rich spectra of phase diagrams in cuprate and iron-based superconductors. Here we report a novel and generic strategy to achieve nonvolatile electron doping in series of(i.e.11 and 122 structures) Fe-based superconductors by ionic liquid gating induced protonation at room temperature. Accumulation of protons in bulk compounds induces superconductivity in the parent compounds, and enhances the Tclargely in some superconducting ones. Furthermore, the existence of proton in the lattice enables the first proton nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) study to probe directly superconductivity. Using Fe S as a model system, our NMR study reveals an emergent high-Tcphase with no coherence peak which is hard to measure by NMR with other isotopes. | 11 | Soil phosphorus bioavailability assessed by XANES and Hedley sequential fractionation technique in a glacier foreland chronosequence in Gongga Mountain, Southwestern China显示文摘The primary productivity of terrestrial ecosystems is influenced by soil phosphorus bioavailability, which depends largely on chemical fractions of phosphorus. The sequential fractionation technique developed by Hedley et al. or its subsequent modification is a well-known method to determine soil phosphorus forms. Hedley sequential fractionation technique separates the phosphorus into fractions based on their different chemical solubilities in extractants with certain chemical properties. Recently, synchrotron-based X-ray absorption near edge structure(XANES) spectroscopy has been employed to measure soil phosphorus species directly and non-invasively. The XANES method provides information concerning local structure and chemical information of target elements at a molecular level. Thus, it can distinguish phosphorus fractions bound by metal oxides or hydroxides(such as Fe, Al, and Ca). In this present work, the phosphorus speciation of topsoil along a glacial foreland chronosequence in Gongga Mountain is determined using these two methods. The changes in soil phosphorus bioavailability along the 120-year-old chronosequence are assessed based on comparisons of the results obtained by these two methods. The results indicate that Hedley sequential fractionation technique shows a greater ability to determine soil bioavailable phosphorus(Resin-P and NaCHO3-P), while XANES is effective in distinguishing phosphorus bound by metal compounds. In the chronosequence, Ca- and Al-bound phosphorus were derived mainly from primary minerals, whose phosphorus contents decreased within 120 years of moraine weathering and soil development. The content of soil bioavailable phosphorus increased rapidly after 30 years since deglaciation. | 12 | Multiple effects of nitrate amendment on the transport, transformation and bioavailability of antimony in a paddy soil-rice plant system显示文摘Nitrate(NO3^(-))is known to be actively involved in the processes of mineralization and heavy metal transformation;however,it is unclear whether and how it affects the bioavailability of antimony(Sb)in paddy soils and subsequent Sb accumulation in rice.Here,the effects of NO3^(-)on Sb transformation in soil-rice system were investigated with pot experiments over the entire growth period.Results demonstrated that NO3^(-)reduced Sb accumulation in brown rice by 15.6%compared to that in the control.After amendment with NO3^(-),the Sb content in rice plants increased initially and then gradually decreased(in roots by 46.1%).During the first 15 days,the soil p H increased,the oxidation of Sb(Ⅲ)and sulfides was promoted,but the reduction of iron oxide minerals was inhibited,resulting in the release of adsorbed and organic-bound Sb from soil.The microbial arsenite-oxidizing marker gene aox B played an important role in Sb(Ⅲ)oxidation.From days 15 to 45,after NO3^(-)was partially consumed,the soil p H decreased,and the reductive dissolution of Fe(Ⅲ)-bearing minerals was enhanced;consequently,iron oxide-bound Sb was transformed into adsorbed and dissolved Sb species.After day 45,NO3^(-)was completely reduced,Sb(V)was evidently reduced to Sb(Ⅲ),and green rust was generated gradually.Thus,the available Sb decreased due to its enhanced affinity for iron oxides.Moreover,NO3^(-)inhibited the reductive dissolution of iron minerals,which ultimately caused low Sb availability.Therefore,NO3^(-)can chemically and biologically reduce the Sb availability in paddy soils and alleviate Sb accumulation inrice.This study provides a potential strategy for decreasing Sb accumulation in rice in the Sb-contaminated sites. | Xiaofeng Zhang Tongxu Liu Fangbai Li Xiaomin Li Yanhong Du Huanyun Yu Xiangqin Wang Chuanpin Liu MiFeng Bing Liao | 2021 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,2: | 6 |
| 13 | Rural households’livelihood responses to industry-based poverty alleviation as a sustainable route out of poverty显示文摘Industrialization is one way to achieve a sustainable route out of poverty.During the implementation of industry-based poverty alleviation projects,rural households’livelihood responses to change are crucial.A stronger livelihood response is conducive to multidimensional poverty relief due to industry-based poverty alleviation projects.Effective poverty alleviation can also stimulate stronger household responses.There is a positive cycle between livelihood response and multidimensional poverty relief effects that can help achieve sustainable poverty alleviation goals.Using a synergistic perspective on the relationship between“people–industry–land”,this paper explains the poverty alleviation logic connecting livelihood response,multidimensional poverty relief,and sustainable routes out of poverty by constructing a four-dimensional livelihood response measurement system with three elements of intensity.We analyzed survey data collected from 2363 households from 4 sample counties in 4 contiguous poverty-stricken areas,and measured and compared the characteristics of rural households’livelihood responses and the factors influencing poverty alleviation projects.Rural households’livelihood responses in four sample counties were moderate.The four dimensions of responses were ranked as livelihood strategy response,livelihood space response,livelihood output response,and livelihood capital response.The three intensities indicated that the perception and willingness elements of livelihood response were very similar,but there was a big gap between those elements and livelihood response actions.At the group level,poor households had higher and more consistent livelihood response than non-poor households.External environment factors(such as location,industry type,village organizational ability,and village atmosphere)and internal family factors(such as resource endowment,income sources,health,education,labor quantity,policy trust,credit availability,and social networks)had a significant impact on households’livelihood response.However,this impact varied across different dimensions and had different intensities.This paper proposes a multidimensional poverty relief mechanism and suggests sustainable routes out of poverty. | Jianjun Ding Zhang Wang Yanhong Liu Fangwei Yu | 2020 | Regional Sustainability2020,1,1: | 5 |
| 14 | Compositions of aliphatic des-A-triterpenes in the Hani peat deposit,Northeast China and its biological significance显示文摘Aliphatic des-A-triterpenes,the degradation products of pentacyclic triterpenes have been tentatively assigned in samples taken from a 963-cm-thick peat sequence from the Hani region of Northeast China using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)in order to understand and identify these des-A-triterpenes response to climate and ecology.The study indicates that aliphatic des-A-triterpenes are abundant in the Hani peat bog.The high relative abundance of the total des-A-triterpenes mainly occurs at the Holocene periods and is corresponding to the low sedimentation rate.The mechanism of des-A-triterpenes accumulation is not consistent with the previous studies.It is proposed that the biological community is also one influence factor.The obvious stage variations of the total des-A-triterpenes in the whole sequence reveal the different biological(microbes and plants) processes and responses,possibly revealing the four large replacements of biological community and functional composition in the swamp environment over the 16000 cal a BP.The low total des-A-triterpenes values occur at about 10200,8700,7700,6600,4480-3940 and 3040 cal a BP,reflecting the multiple millennial micro-environment oscillations under the macro-environment of the swamp during the Holocene.The ratios of diene and monoene des-A-triterpenes(DT/MT),des-A-lupane and diene and monoene des-A-triterpenes(DL/(DT+MT)),ratios ofindividual compounds exhibit vertical opposite to the total des-A-triterpenes. | 18 | Effect of Yb^(3+) concentration on the structures and upconversion luminescence properties of Y_2O_3:Er^(3+) ultrafine phosphors显示文摘Y2O3:Er3+ ultrafine phosphors with a varying Yb3+ ion concentration were prepared by a urea homogeneous precipitation method. The results of XRD show that all the samples are of a pure cubic structure and the average crystallite sizes can be calculated as 45, 34, and 28 nm for Y2O3:Er3+ ultrafine phosphors with Yb3+ ion concentrations of 0, 10%, and 20%, respec- tively. The lattice constant and cell volume of the ultrafine phosphors decrease with enhancing Yb3+ ion concentration. The upconversion luminescence spectra of all the samples were studied under 980 nm laser excitation. The strong green and red upconversion emission were observed, and attributed to the 2H11/2 → 4I15/2, 4S3/2 → 4I15/2 and 4F9/2 → 4I15/2 transitions of Er3+, respectively. The intensity of red emission increases with increasing Yb3+ ion concentration. | 19 | Validation of the Nanjing Criteria for Diagnosing Pyrrolizidine Alkaloids-induced Hepatic Sinusoidal Obstruction Syndrome显示文摘Background and Aims:Hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome(HSOS)is caused by toxic injury to sinusoidal endothelial cells in the liver.The intake of pyrrolizidine alkaloids(PAs)in some Chinese herbal remedies/plants remains the major etiology for HSOS in China.Recently,new diagnostic criteria for PA-induced HSOS(i.e.PA-HSOS)have been developed;however,the efficacy has not been clinically validated.This study aimed to assess the performance of the Nanjing criteria for PA-HSOS.Methods:Data obtained from consecutive patients in multiple hospitals,which included 86 PA-HSOS patients and 327 patients with other liver diseases,were retrospectively analyzed.Then,the diagnostic performance of the Nanjing criteria and simplified Nanjing criteria were evaluated and validated.The study is registered in www.chictr.org.cn(ID:ChiCTR1900020784).Results:The Nanjing criteria have a sensitivity and specificity of 95.35%and 100%,respectively,while the simplified Nanjing criteria have a sensitivity and specificity of 96.51%and 96.33%,respectively,for the diagnosis of PA-HSOS.Notably,a proportion of patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome(11/49)was misdiagnosed as PA-HSOS on the basis of the simplified Nanjing criteria,and this was mainly due to the overlapping features in the enhanced computed tomography/magnetic resonance imaging examinations.Furthermore,most of these patients(10/11)had occlusion or thrombosis of the hepatic vein,and communicating vessels in the liver were found in 8/11 patients,which were absent in PA-HSOS patients.Conclusions:The Nanjing criteria and simplified Nanjing criteria exhibit excellent performance in diagnosing PA-HSOS.Thus,both could be valuable diagnostic tools in clinical practice. | Wei Zhang Lu Liu Ming Zhang Feng Zhang Chunyan Peng Bin Zhang Jun Chen Lin Li Jian He Jiangqiang Xiao Yanhong Feng Xunjiang Wang Aizhen Xiong Li Yang Xiaoping Zou Yuecheng Yu Yuzheng Zhuge | 2021 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2021,9,3: | 4 |
| 20 | Genetic characterization and potential molecular dissemination mechanism of tet(31) gene in Aeromonas caviae from an oxytetracycline wastewater treatment system显示文摘Recently, the rarely reported tet(31) tetracycline resistance determinant was commonly found in Aeromonas salmonicida, Gallibacterium anatis, and Oblitimonas alkaliphila isolated from farming animals and related environment. However, its distribution in other bacteria and potential molecular dissemination mechanism in environment are still unknown. The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential mechanism underlying dissemination of tet(31) by analysing the tet(31)-carrying fragments in A. caviae strains isolated from an aerobic biofilm reactor treating oxytetracycline bearing wastewater. Twenty-three A. caviae strains were screened for the tet(31) gene by polymerase chain reaction(PCR). Three strains(two harbouring tet(31), one not) were subjected to whole genome sequencing using the PacBio RSII platform. Seventeen A. caviae strains carried the tet(31) gene and exhibited high resistance levels to oxytetracycline with minimum inhibitory concentrations(MICs)ranging from 256 to 512 mg/L. tet(31) was comprised of the transposon Tn6432 on the chromosome of A. caviae, and Tn6432 was also found in 15 additional tet(31)-positive A. caviae isolates by PCR. More important, Tn6432 was located on an integrative conjugative element(ICE)-like element, which could mediate the dissemination of the tet(31)-carrying transposon Tn6432 between bacteria. Comparative analysis demonstrated that Tn6432 homologs with the structure ISCR2-ΔphzF-tetR(31)-tet(31)-ΔglmM-sul2 were also carried by A. salmonicida, G. anatis, and O. alkaliphila, suggesting that this transposon can be transferred between species and even genera.
