Research on cohesive sediment erosion by flow: An overview显示文摘Erosion of cohesive sediment by flow is a very complicated phenomenon occurring worldwide. Understanding and modeling of the erosion process are important for many issues such as the breaching of embankments, riverbank stability, siltation of harbors and navigation channels, service life of reservoirs, distribution of (heavy metal) pollutants and water quality problems. In the last few decades, numerous studies have been done on the erosion of cohesive sediment by flow. Nevertheless, the factors affecting the erosion resistance of cohesive sediment are still not fully understood and the knowledge of the physics of cohesive sediment erosion is in- adequate, as a result the mathematical modeling of this erosion is far from satis- factory. In this paper an overview of the studies on the erosion resistance, erosion threshold and the erosion rate of cohesive sediment by flow is presented. The outcomes achieved so far from the studies and the existing problems have been analyzed and summarized, based on which recommendations are proposed for future research. | YongHui Zhu JinYou Lu HongZhi Liao JiaSheng Wang BeiLin Fan ShiMing Yao | 2008 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2008,51,11: | 5
Effects of catechins on litter size, reproductive performance and antioxidative status in gestating sows显示文摘This study was conducted to investigate the effects of catechins on reproductive performance, antioxidative capacity and immune function of gestating sows. A total of 60 cross-bred(Landrace × Large White) multiparious sows were blocked by body weight, parity and backfact and randomly allocated to 1 of 5 treatments: 0.100,200,300, or 400 mg/kg catechins. Dietary treatments were imposed from mating to d 40 of gestation of sows. At farrowing, litter total born, born alive, dead, and normal-(healthy piglets,>0.85 kg) and low-birth weight piglets(<0.85 kg) were recorded. Within 3.00 ± 0.50 days after farrowing litter size was standardized to 8,00 ± 1.50 piglets within treatment. The piglets were weighed at birth(d 1) and weaning(d 28). Sows serum samples were obtained from blood samples collected on d 40 of gestation for analyses of glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase(SOD), catalase(CAT),malondialdehyde(MDA), hydrogen peroxide(H2 O2), nitric oxide synthetase(NOS) and nitrogen monoxide(NO). Our results showed that supplementation of catechins at levels of 200 or 300 mg/kg led to improvements in litter born alive(P < 0.01) and piglet born healthy(P < 0.01) and a decrease in stillborn(P < 0.05) at farrowing when compared with the control. In comparison with the control, catechins at any supplemental levels all enhanced the serum SOD(P < 0.05) and CAT(P < 0.01) activities of sows at farrowing but no obvious differences in the serum GSH-Px and NOS activities were observed in this trial(P > 0.05). Sows received 200 mg catechin per kg diets showed a reduction(P < 0.05) of the serum MDA level at farrowing compared with all other treatments. Sows received all the levels of catechin showed a reduction(P < 0.05) of serum H2 O2 level compared with sows received the control diet on both d 40 of gestation and farrowing. Our results demonstrated that the catechins may be a potential antioxidant to increase the reproductive performance and antioxidative capacity of sows when it was added into diets during the early gestation. | Zhiyong Fan Yong Xiao Yonghui Chen Xin Wu Guanglei Zhang Qinhua Wang Chunyan Xie | 2015 | Animal Nutrition2015,,4: | 2

Long noncoding RNA(lncRNA)H19:An essential developmental regulator with expanding roles in cancer, stem cell differentiation, and metabolic diseases显示文摘Recent advances in deep sequencing technologies have revealed that, while less than 2%of the human genome is transcribed into mRNA for protein synthesis, over 80%of the genome is transcribed, leading to the production of large amounts of noncoding RNAs(ncRNAs).It has been shown that ncRNAs,especially long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs),may play crucial regulatory roles in gene expression. As one of the first isolated and reported lncRNAs,H19 has gained much attention due to its essential roles in regulating many physiological and/or pathological processes including embryogenesis,development,tumorigenesis,osteogen-esis,and metabolism.Mechanistically,H19 mediates diverse regulatory functions by serving as competing endogenous RNAs(CeRNAs),Igf2/H19 imprinted tandem gene, modular scaffold, cooperating with H19 antisense, and acting directly with other mRNAs or lncRNAs.Here,we summarized the current understanding of H19 in embryogenesis and development, cancer development and progression, mesenchymal stem cell lineage-specific differentiation, and metabolic diseases. We discussed the potential regulatory mechanisms underlying H19’s func-tions in those processes although more in-depth studies are warranted to delineate the exact molecular, cellular, epigenetic, and genomic regulatory mechanisms underlying the physiolog-ical and pathological roles of H19.Ultimately,these lines of investigation may lead to the development of novel therapeutics for human diseases by exploiting H19 functions. | Junyi Liao Bowen Chen Zhenglin Zhu Chengcheng Du Shengqiang Gao Guozhi Zhao Piao Zhao Yonghui Wang Annie Wang Zander Schwartz Lily Song Jeffrey Hong William Wagstaff Rex CHaydon Hue HLuu Jiaming Fan Russell RReid Tong-Chuan He Lewis Shi Ning Hu Wei Huang | 2023 | Genes & Diseases2023,10,4: | 1

Visible-to-near-infrared photodetectors based on SnS/SnSe_(2)and SnSe/SnSe_(2)p−n heterostructures with a fast response speed and high normalized detectivity显示文摘The emergent two-dimensional(2D)material,tin diselenide(SnSe_(2)),has garnered significant consideration for its potential in image capturing systems, optical communication, and optoelectronic memory.Nevertheless,SnSe_(2)-based photodetection faces obstacles, including slow response speed and low normalized detectivity. In this work, photodetectors based on SnS/SnSe_(2)and SnSe/SnSe_(2)p−n heterostructures have been implemented through a polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)−assisted transfer method. These photodetectors demonstrate broad-spectrum photoresponse within the 405 to 850 nm wavelength range. The photodetector based on the SnS/SnSe_(2)heterostructure exhibits a significant responsivity of 4.99×10^(3)A∙W^(−1),normalized detectivity of 5.80×10^(12)cm∙Hz^(1/2)∙W^(−1),and fast response time of 3.13 ms,respectively, owing to the built-in electric field.Meanwhile, the highest values of responsivity, normalized detectivity, and response time for the photodetector based on the SnSe/SnSe_(2)heterostructure are 5.91×10^(3)A∙W^(−1),7.03×10^(12)cm∙Hz^(1/2)∙W−1,and 4.74 ms,respectively. And their photodetection performances transcend those of photodetectors based on individual SnSe_(2),SnS,SnSe,and other commonly used 2D materials. Our work has demonstrated an effective strategy to improve the performance of SnSe_(2)-based photodetectors and paves the way for their future commercialization. | Xinfa Zhu Weishuai Duan Xiancheng Meng Xiyu Jia Yonghui Zhang Pengyu Zhou Mengjun Wang Hongxing Zheng Chao Fan | 2024 | Journal of Semiconductors2024,45,3: | 0

SV40 large T antigen-induced immortalization reprograms mouse cardiomyocyte progenitors with mesenchymal stem cell characteristics and osteogenic potential显示文摘While progenitor cell-based cardiomyocyte regeneration holds great promise of repairing an injured heart, primary cardiomyogenic progenitors(CPs)have a limited life span in culture, hampering the use of CPs for in vitro and in vivo studies. We previously isolated primary CPs from mouse E15.5 fetal heart, and reversibly immortalized them with SV40 large T antigen(SV40 LTA),resulting in immortalized CPs(iCPs),which maintain long-term proliferation and ex-press cardiomyogenic markers and retain differentiation potential under appropriate differentiation conditions. | Yichun Yu Jiamin Zhong Connie Chen Yannian Gou Guozhi Zhao Piao Zhao Yonghui Wang Wei Zeng Annie Wang William D.Wagstaff Jr Rex C.Haydon Tong-Chuan He Russell R.Reid Michael J.Lee Hue H.Luu Jiaming Fan | 2023 | Genes & Diseases2023,10,4: | 0
Night warming increases wheat yield by improving pre-anthesis plant growth and post-anthesis grain starch biosynthesis显示文摘Global climate change is characterized by asymmetric warming,i.e.,greater temperature increases in winter, spring, and nighttime than in summer, autumn, and daytime.Field experiments were conducted using four wheat cultivars, namely‘Yangmai 18’(YM18),‘Sumai 188’(SM188),‘Yannong 19’(YN19),and‘Annong 0711’(AN0711),in the two growing seasons of 2019-2020 and 2020-2021,with passive night warming during different periods in the early growth stage. The treatments were night warming during the tillering-jointing(NW_(T-J)),jointing-booting(NWJ-B),and booting-anthesis(NWB-A)stages,with ambient temperature(NN)as the control. The effects of night warming during different stages on wheat yield formation were investigated by determining the characteristics of dry matter accumulation and translocation,as well as sucrose and starch accumulation in wheat grains. The wheat yields of all four cultivars were significantly higher in NW_(T-J)than in NN in the 2-year experiment. The yield increases of semi-winter cultivars YN19 and AN0711 were greater than those of spring cultivars YM18 and SM188.Treatment NW_(T-J)increased wheat yield mainly by increasing the 1,000-grain weight and the number of fertile spikelets, and it increased dry matter accumulation in various organs of wheat at the anthesis and maturity stages by increasing the growth rate at the vegetative growth stage. The flag leaf and spike showed the largest increases in dry matter accumulation.NW_(T-J)also increased the grain sucrose and starch contents in the early and middle grain-filling stages, promoting yield formation.Overall, night warming between the tillering and jointing stages increased the pre-anthesis growth rate, and thus, wheat dry matter production, which contributed to an increase in wheat yield. | Yonghui Fan Boya Qin Jinhao Yang Liangliang Ma Guoji Cui Wei He Yu Tang Wenjing Zhang Shangyu Ma Chuanxi Ma Zhenglai Huang | 2024 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2024,23,2: | 0
Elucidating the excited-state dynamics behavior in near-infrared Bodipy dye and aggregates toward biophotonics显示文摘Photo-induced excited-state dynamics within organic materials fundamentally determine their photophysical properties for various applications, and thus understanding the primary excited-state dynamics behavior is of fundamental and practical significance.Until recently, the excited-state dynamics of organic materials towards biophotonics have been rarely studied, although numerous endeavors have been devoted to the design of organic materials for biophotonics.Herein, various spectroscopy technologies including femtosecond transient absorption(fs-TA)spectroscopy clearly reveal a totally different excited state dynamics behavior within Bodipy monomer(2B-BDP dye)and aggregates(2B-BDP NPs),indicating strongly morphology dependent character.2B-BDP dye undergoes an ultrafast conversion from S1 to intramolecular charge transfer(ICT)state for subsequent photoluminescence(PL)and nonradiative(NR)decay, while 2B-BDP NPs show an accelerated excited-state deactivation mainly through S1→S0 NR decay. The potential bioapplications based on the corresponding excited state dynamics behavior are discussed together with experimental results.Interestingly, the accelerated NR decay in 2B-BDP NPs does not yield a stronger photoacoustic(PA)signal than that in 2B-BDP dye, which violates the conventional wisdom that faster NR decay would benefit the photothermal effects for better photoacoustic imaging(PAI).These insightful and fundamental observations of the excited-state dynamics may contribute an alternative approach at the molecular level towards the future design of functional Bodipy-based organic molecules with desirable performances. | Xiaofei Miao Haojie Tao Wenbo Hu Yonghui Pan Quli Fan Wei Huang | 2020 | Science China Chemistry2020,63,8: | 0
The evolving roles of Wnt signaling in stem cell proliferation and differentiation, the development of human diseases, and therapeutic opportunities显示文摘The evolutionarily conserved Wnt signaling pathway plays a central role in develop-ment and adult tissue homeostasis across species.Wnt proteins are secreted,lipid-modified signaling molecules that activate the canonical(β-catenin dependent)and non-canonical(β-catenin independent)Wnt signaling pathways.Cellular behaviors such as proliferation,differ-entiation,maturation,and proper body-axis specification are carried out by the canonical pathway, which is the best characterized of the known Wnt signaling paths.Wnt signaling has emerged as an important factor in stem cell biology and is known to affect the self-renewal of stem cells in various tissues. This includes but is not limited to embryonic, hematopoietic, mesenchymal, gut, neural, and epidermal stem cells.Wnt signaling has also been implicated in tumor cells that exhibit stem cell-like properties.Wnt signaling is crucial for bone formation and presents a potential target for the development of therapeutics for bone disorders. Not surprisingly, aberrant Wnt signaling is also associated with a wide variety of diseases, including cancer.Mutations of Wnt pathway members in cancer can lead to unchecked cell proliferation,epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and metastasis.Altogether, advances in the understand-ing of dysregulated Wnt signaling in disease have paved the way for the development of novel therapeutics that target components of the Wnt pathway.Beginning with a brief overview of the mechanisms of canonical and non-canonical Wnt,this review aims to summarize the cur-rent knowledge of Wnt signaling in stem cells, aberrations to the Wnt pathway associated with diseases, and novel therapeutics targeting the Wnt pathway in preclinical and clinical studies. | Michael Yu Kevin Qin Jiaming Fan Guozhi Zhao Piao Zhao Wei Zeng iconnie Chen Annie Wang Yonghui Wang jiamin Zhong Yi Zhu William Wagstaff Rex C.Haydon Hue H.Luu Sherwin Ho Michael J.Lee Jason Strelzow Russell R.Reid Tong-Chuan He | 2024 | Genes & Diseases2024,11,3: | 0
Canonical and noncanonical Wnt signaling: Multilayered mediators, signaling mechanisms and major signaling crosstalk显示文摘Wnt signaling plays a major role in regulating cell proliferation and differentiation. The Wnt ligands are a family of 19 secreted glycoproteins that mediate their signaling effects via binding to Frizzled receptors and LRP5/6 coreceptors and transducing the signal either throughβ-catenin in the canonical pathway or through a series of other proteins in the nonca-nonical pathway. Many of the individual components of both canonical and noncanonical Wnt signaling have additional functions throughout the body, establishing the complex interplay between Wnt signaling and other signaling pathways. This crosstalk between Wnt signaling and other pathways gives Wnt signaling a vital role in many cellular and organ processes.Dys-regulation of this system has been implicated in many diseases affecting a wide array of organ systems, including cancer and embryological defects, and can even cause embryonic lethality. The complexity of this system and its interacting proteins have made Wnt signaling a target for many therapeutic treatments. However, both stimulatory and inhibitory treatments come with potential risks that need to be addressed. This review synthesized much of the current knowl-edge on the Wnt signaling pathway, beginning with the history of Wnt signaling. It thoroughly described the different variants of Wnt signaling, including canonical, noncanonical Wnt/PCP,and the noncanonical Wnt/Ca2+pathway.Further description involved each of its components and their involvement in other cellular processes. Finally, this review explained the various other pathways and processes that crosstalk with Wnt signaling. | Kevin Qin Michael Yu Jiaming Fan Hongwei Wang Piao Zhao Guozhi Zhaoo Wei Zeng Connie Chen Yonghui Wang Annie Wang Zander Schwartz Jeffrey Hong Lily Song William Wagstaff Rex C.Haydon Hue H.Luu Sherwin H.Ho Jason Strelzow Russell R.Reid Tong-Chuan He Lewis L.Shi | 2024 | Genes & Diseases2024,11,1: | 0
Synthesis and immunological evaluation of Mincle ligands-based antitumor vaccines显示文摘The development of novel adjuvants constitutes a new strategy for the research of tumor vaccines.Immunomodulatory molecule adjuvants are one of the novel adjuvants that can effectively stimulate the pattern recognition receptors to activate the downstream pathways of immune cells. However, there are few studies on immunomodulatory molecular adjuvants associated with C-type lectin. It has been reported that GlcC_(14)C_(18)is a Mincle ligand with a relatively simple structure and strong adjuvant activity in vivo.Herein,we coupled GlcC_(14)C_(18)with MUC1 glycopeptide and evaluated its immune effect. In addition,we also synthesized α-GlcC_(14)C_(18)-MUC1 and β-GlcC_(14)C_(18)-MUC1 based on the two configurations of GlcC_14C_(18)and compared their immune effects. The results show that both of the two configurations of the vaccine have a good immune effect, but to a certain extent, the immune effect of β-GlcC_(14)C_(18)-MUC1 is better than that of α-GlcC_(14)C_(18)-MUC1. | Kun Wang Tong Zhang Mingyang Liu Danyang Wang Haomiao Zhu Zhaoyu Wang Fan Yu Yonghui Liu Wei Zhao | 2023 | Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,7: | 0
