1Characteristics of the lunar samples returned by the Chang'E-5 mission显示文摘Forty-five years after the Apollo and Luna missions returned lunar samples,China's Chang’E-5(CE-5)mission collected new samples from the mid-latitude region in the northeastern Oceanus Procellarum of the Moon.Our study shows that 95%of CE-5 lunar soil sizes are found to be within the range of 1.40-9.35μm,while 95%of the soils by mass are within the size range of 4.84-432.27μm.The bulk density,true density and specific surface area of CE-5 soils are 1.2387 g/cm^(3),3.1952 g/cm^(3) and 0.56 m^(2)/g,respectively.Fragments from the CE-5 regolith are classified into igneous clasts(mostly basalt),agglutinate and glass.A few breccias were also found.The minerals and compositions of CE-5 soils are consistent with mare basalts and can be classified as low-Ti/low-Al/low-K type with lower rare-earth-element contents than materials rich in potassium,rare earth element and phosphorus.CE-5 soils have high FeO and low Mg index,which could represent a new class of basalt.Chunlai Li Hao Hu Meng-Fei Yang Zhao-Yu Pei Qin Zhou Xin Ren Bin Liu Dawei Liu Xingguo Zeng Guangliang Zhang Hongbo Zhang Jianjun Liu Qiong Wang Xiangjin Deng Caijin Xiao Yonggang Yao Dingshuai Xue Wei Zuo Yan Su Weibin Wen Ziyuan Ouyang 2022National Science Review2022,9,2:12
2IL-25 stimulates M2 macrophage polarization and thereby promotes mitochondrial respiratory capacity and lipolysis in adipose tissues against obesity显示文摘Obesity and associated metabolic diseases are characterized by a chronic low-grade inflammatory state with the infiltration of many inflammatory cells,especially macrophages.Immune molecules,including some cytokines,have a close relationship with metabolism.Interleukin(IL)-25 is a member of the IL-17 cytokine family that can regulate macrophages and alleviate some metabolic dysfunction;however,its role and mechanisms in lipid metabolism remain to be extensively clarified.Human serum and liver biopsy specimens,high-fat diet-induced obesity mice and DB/DB(Lepr−/−)animal models were used to examine IL-25 expression in obesity and nonalcoholic fatty liver diseases(NAFLD).To observe the role of IL-25 in lipid metabolism,model mice were administered with IL-25 or adoptively transferred with IL-25-educated macrophages in vivo,whereas bone marrow-derived macrophages,the macrophage cell line RAW264.7 and adipocytes differentiated from 3T3-L1 were used in vitro.IL-25 was decreased in NAFLD patients and obese mice.In addition,IL-25 reduced body weight gain and lipid accumulation,enhanced lipid uptake by macrophages and increased the expression of lipolysis andβ-oxidation enzymes via alternatively activating macrophages.IL-25 also promoted lipolysis and suppressed lipogenesis in adipocytes co-cultured with the IL-25-educated macrophages.Furthermore,IL-25 improved the mitochondrial respiratory capacity and oxygen consumption rate of macrophages and produced more NAD+/NADH and ATP.In conclusion,IL-25 can stimulate M2 macrophage polarization and thereby promote lipolysis and mitochondrial respiratory capacity,highlighting the potential for IL-25 to be used as a therapeutic agent against obesity and associated metabolic syndromes.Juan Feng Lingyi Li Zhiying Ou Qiao Li Baoyong Gong Zhenxian Zhao Weiwei Qi Ti Zhou Jun Zhong Weibin Cai Xia Yang Aiping Zhao Guoquan Gao Zhonghan Yang 2018Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,5:10
3Characterization and properties of a Sr2Si5N8:Eu^2+-based light-conversion agricultural film显示文摘In this paper,the fracture surfaces of a light-conversion film were observed using a scanning electron microscope(SEM),and then,the fluorescence spectra and mechanical properties of the film were tested.The SEM results show that the average diameter of the light conversion agent is 500 nm.The results of the mechanical properties tests show that the tensile strengths of light-conversion film increase from9.86 to 12.16 MPa and that the strain at breakage increases from 2.37%to 2.75%.In addition,the application effects of the light-co nversion film were studied.The results indicate that plant height,length of the maximum leaf,width of the maximum leaf and breadth of the plants increase by 24.43%,15.30%,15.60%and 19.07%,respectively.The quality of Chinese flowering cabbages treated with the lightconversion film is superior,including a 9.09%increase in the soluble protein content,a 21.27%increase in the polyphenol content,and a 19.15%increase in the soluble sugar content.Based on these results,light-conversion films can be applied in agricultural production.Weibin Wu Zhenbang Zhang Riyue Dong Gening Xie Jianxian Zhou Kejue Wu Haonan Zhang Qianpei Cai Bingfu Lei 2020Journal of Rare Earths2020,38,5:7
4Fabrication of Al_2O_3-NaCl Composite Heat Storage Materials by One-step Synthesis Method显示文摘Thermal energy storage is an attractive option for effectiveness since it gives flexibility and reduces energy consumption and costs. New composite materials for storage and transformation of heat of NaCl-Al_2O_3 composite materials were synthesized by one-step synthesis method. The chemical composition, morphology, structure, and thermal properties were investigated by XRD, EDS, SEM, and DSC. The results show that NaCl can be absorbed by Al_2O_3 particle from 800 to 900 ℃ for Al_2O_3 particle surface is rich active structure. The results also indicate that the leakage of NaCl when the phase change can be prevented by Al_2O_3 particles and the enthalpy of phase change of NaCl-Al_2O_3 material is 362 J/g. The composites have an excellent heat storage capacity. 5First results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from CDEX-1 experiment显示文摘We report the first results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from stage one of the China dark-matter experiment(CDEX).A p-type point-contact high-purity germanium detector with a mass of 994 g has been installed to detect neutrinoless double beta decay events, as well as to directly detect dark matter particles. An exposure of 304 kg d has been analyzed over a wide spectral band from 500 keV to 3 MeV. The average event rate obtained was about 0.012 counts per keV per kg per day over the 2.039 MeV energy range. The half-life of ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay derived based on this result is T^(0ν)1/2>6.4×10^(22) yr(90% C.L.). 6Forest management required for consistent carbon sink in China’s forest plantations显示文摘Background:Forest is the largest biomass carbon(C)pool in China,taking up a substantial amount of atmospheric carbon dioxide.Although it is well understood that planted forests(PFs)act as a large C sink,the contribution of human management to C storage enhancement remains obscure.Moreover,existing projections of forest C dynamics suffer from spatially inconsistent age and type information or neglected human management impacts.In this study,using developed PF age and type maps and data collected from 1371 forest plantation sites in China,we simulated biomass C stock change and quantified management impacts for the time period 2010-2050.Results:Results show that future forest biomass C increment might have been overestimated by 32.5%-107.5% in former studies.We also found that age-related growth will be by far the largest contributor to PF biomass C increment from 2010 to 2050(1.23±0.002 Pg C,1 Pg=10^(15) g=1 billion metric tons),followed by the impact of human management(0.57±0.02 Pg C),while the contribution of climate is slight(0.087±0.04 Pg C).Besides,an additional 0.24±0.07 Pg C can be stored if current PFs are all managed by 2050,resulting in a total increase of 2.13±0.05 Pg C.Conclusions:Forest management and age-related growth dominate the biomass C change in PFs,while the effect of climatic factors on the accumulation is minor.To achieve the ambitious goal of forest C stock enhancement by 3.5 Pg from 2020 to 2050,we advocate to improve the management of existing forests and reduce the requests for more lands for forest expansion,which helps mitigate potential conflicts with agricultural sectors.Our results highlight that appropriate planning and management are required for sustaining and enhancing biomass C sequestration in China’s PF.Zhen Yu Weibin You Evgenios Agathokleous Guoyi Zhou Shirong Liu 2021Forest Ecosystems2021,8,4:3

14Survival after radical cystectomy for bladder cancer:Multicenter comparison between minimally invasive and open approaches显示文摘Objective:To investigate oncological outcomes in patients with bladder cancer who underwent minimally invasive radical cystectomy(MIRC)or open radical cystectomy(ORC).Methods:We identified patients with bladder cancer who underwent radical cystectomy(RC)in 13 centers of the Chinese Bladder Cancer Consortium(CBCC).Perioperative outcomes were compared between MIRC and ORC.The influence of surgical approaches on overall survival(OS)and cancer-specific survival(CSS)in the entire study group and subgroups classified according to pathologic stage or lymph node(LN)status was assessed with the log-rank test.Multivariable Cox proportional hazard models were used to evaluate the association among OS,CSS and risk factors of interest.Results:Of 2098 patients who underwent RC,1243 patients underwent MIRC(1087 laparoscopic RC and 156 robotic-assisted RC,respectively),while 855 patients underwent ORC.No significant differences were noted in positive surgical margin rate and 90-day postoperative mortality rate.MIRC was associated with less estimated blood loss,more LN yield,higher rate of neobladder diversion,longer operative time,and longer length of hospital stay.There was no significant difference in OS and CSS according to surgical approaches(pZ0.653,and 0.816,respectively).Subgroup analysis revealed that OS and CSS were not significantly different regardless of the status of extravesical involvement or LN involvement.Multivariable Cox regression analyses showed that the surgical approach was not a significant predictor of OS and CSS.Conclusions:Our study showed that MIRC was comparable to conventional ORC in terms of OS and CSS.Weibin Xie Junming Bi Qiang Wei Ping Han Dongkui Song Lei Shi Dingwei Ye Yijun Shen Xin Gou Weiyang He Shaogang Wang Zheng Liu Jinhai Fan Kaijie Wu Zhiwen Chen Xiaozhou Zhou Chuize Kong Yang Liu Chunxiao Liu Abai Xu Baiye Jin Guanghou Fu Wei Xue Haige Chen Tiejun Pan Zhong Tu Tianxin Lin Jian Huang 2020Asian Journal of Urology2020,7,3:1
15Metalens-based stereoscopic microscope显示文摘Stereoscopic microscopy is a promising technology to obtain three-dimensional microscopic images.Such microscopes are based on the parallax effect,and as such require two lenses to focus at two different points.Geometrical constraints,however,restrict their numerical apertures to about 0.2,thus limiting the system’s resolution.Higher numerical apertures(.35)can be achieved with designs using only one bulk lens,but such systems are0 times more costly than the conventional ones.Thus,there is a pressing need for alternative solutions to improve the resolution of stereoscopic systems.Here,we show that high-resolution and low-cost stereoscopic systems can be obtained using birefringent single-layer metalenses.We design and fabricate a birefringent metalens operating at 532 nm with a numerical aperture as high as 0.4.The metalens is then used to demonstrate high-resolution stereoscopic imaging of biological samples.The microscopic images are further displayed and perceived vividly in an autostereoscopic display.Our demonstration paves the way to a new strategy to achieve high-resolution and low-cost stereoscopic microscopes.YONG LONG JIANCHAO ZHANG ZHIHAO LIU WEIBIN FENG SONGMING GUO QIAN SUN QINFEI WU XIANGYANG YU JIANYING ZHOU EMILIANO RMARTINS HAOWEN LIANG JUNTAO LI 2022Photonics Research2022,10,6:1
16A multi-band atomic candle with microwave-dressed Rydberg atoms显示文摘Stabilizing important physical quantities to atom-based standards lies at the heart of modern atomic,molecular and optical physics,and is widely applied to the field of precision metrology.Of particular importance is the atom-based microwave field amplitude stabilizer,the so-called atomic candle.Previous atomic candles are realized with atoms in their ground state,and hence suffer from the lack of frequency band tunability and small stabilization bandwidth,severely limiting their development and potential applications.To tackle these limitations,we employ microwave-dressed Rydberg atoms to realize a novel atomic candle that features multi-band frequency tunability and large stabilization bandwidth.We demonstrate amplitude stabilization of microwave field from C-band to Ka-band,which could be extended to quasi-DC and terahertz fields by exploring abundant Rydberg levels.Our atomic candle achieves stabilization bandwidth of 100 Hz,outperforming previous ones by more than two orders of magnitude.Our simulation indicates the stabilization bandwidth can be further increased up to 100 kHz.Our work paves a route to develop novel electric field control and applications with a noise-resilient,miniaturized,sensitive and broadband atomic candle.Yafen Cai Shuai Shi Yijia Zhou Jianhao Yu Yali Tian Yitong Li Kuan Zhang Chenhao Du Weibin Li Lin Li 2023Frontiers of physics2023,18,1:1

19Sensitivity of forest phenology in China varies with proximity to forest edges显示文摘Background:Shifts in forest phenological events serve as strong indicators of climate change.However,the sensitivity of phenology events to climate change in relation to forest origins has received limited attention.Moreover,it is unknown whether forest phenology changes with the proximity to forest edge.Methods:This study examined the green-up dates,dormancy dates,time-integrated NDVI(LiNDVI,a measure of vegetation productivity in growing season),and their sensitivities to climatic factors along the gradients of distance(i.e.proximity)to forest edge(0–2 km)in China's natural forests(NF)and planted forests(PF).For the analysis,field-surveyed data were integrated with Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS)NDVI from 2000 to 2022.Results:Our results reveal that PF had earlier green-up dates,later dormancy dates,and higher LiNDVI than NF.However,green-up sensitivities to temperature were higher at the edges of NF,whereas no such pattern was observed in PF.Conversely,the sensitivity of dormancy dates remains relatively stable from the inner to the edge of both NF and PF,except for a quadratic change in dormancy date sensitivity to precipitation found in NF.Additionally,we found that the green-up sensitivity to temperature increased with decreasing proximity to edge in NF evergreen forests,while it showed the opposite trend in PF evergreen forests.Furthermore,we observed that the precipitation impact on green-up dates shifts from postponing to advancing from the inner to the edge of NF,whereas precipitation dominantly postpones PF's green-up dates regardless of the proximity to edge.The LiNDVI exhibits higher sensitivity to precipitation at the edge areas,a phenomenon observed in NF but not in PF.Conclusions:These results suggest that the responses of forests to climate change vary with the distance to the edge.With increasing edge forests,which results from fragmentation caused by global changes,we anticipate that desynchronized phenological events along the distance to the edge could alter biogeochemical cycles and reshape ecosystem services such as energy flows,pollination duration,and the tourism industry.Therefore,we advocate for further investigations of edge effects to improve ecosystem modelling,enhance forest stability,and promote sustainable tourism.Weibin You Ziyi Xian Guoyi Zhou Evgenios Agathokleous Zhen Yu 2023Forest Ecosystems2023,10,6:0
20Enhancing maize's nitrogen-fixing potential through ZmSBT3, a gene suppressing mucilage secretion∞显示文摘Maize(Zea mays)requires substantial amounts of nitrogen,posing a challenge for its cultivation.Recent work discovered that some ancient Mexican maize landraces harbored diazotrophic bacteria in mucilage secreted by their aerial roots.To see if this trait is retained in modern maize,we conducted a field study of aerial root mucilage(ARM)in 258 inbred lines.We observed that ARM secretion is common in modern maize,but the amount significantly varies,and only a few lines have retained the nitrogen‐fixing traits found in ancient landraces.The mucilage of the high‐ARM inbred line HN5‐724 had high nitrogen‐fixing enzyme activity and abundant diazotrophic bacteria.Our genome‐wide association study identified 17 candidate genes associated with ARM across three environments.Knockouts of one candidate gene,the subtilase family gene ZmSBT3,confirmed that it negatively regulates ARM secretion.Notably,the ZmSBT3 knockout lines had increased biomass and total nitrogen accumulation under nitrogen‐free culture conditions.High ARM was associated with three ZmSBT3 haplotypes that were gradually lost during maize domestication,being retained in only a few modern inbred lines such as HN5‐724.In summary,our results identify ZmSBT3 as a potential tool for enhancing ARM,and thus nitrogen fixation,in maize.Jingyang Gao Peijiang Feng Jingli Zhang Chaopei Dong Zhao Wang Mingxiang Chen Zhongliang Yu Bowen Zhao Xin Hou Huijuan Wang Zhaokun Wu Razia Sultana Jemim Haidong Yu Doudou Sun Pei Jing Jiafa Chen Weibin Song Xuecai Zhang Zijian Zhou Jianyu Wu 2023Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,12:0
