Xeno-repopulation of Fah^(-/-)Nod/Scid mice livers by human hepatocytes显示文摘Functional human hepatocytes xenografted into the liver of mice can be used as a model system to study pharmacokinetics, infection of hepatitis viruses, and the efficacy of hepatitis vaccines.Significant levels of liver xeno-repopulation have been reported in Fah-/-Rag2-/-Il2rg-/-mice.However,the high mortality and low breeding rate of this model may hinder its application.A new model, termed Fah-/-Nod/Scid mice, which combines the advantages of liver repopulation in Fah-/-mice with the ease of xenotransplantation in Nod/Scid mice was obtained by gradual cross-breeding.Fah-/-Nod/Scid mice were easily maintained in breeding colonies and in adult animal care facilities.FK506 treatment combined with gradual withdrawal of NTBC before cell transplantation ensured that Fah-/-Nod/Scid mice were susceptible to liver xeno-repopulation by human hepatocytes;the proportion of engrafted human hepatocytes reached 33.6%.The function of the expanded human hepatocytes within the chimeric liver was confirmed by weight curve analysis, the expression of characteristic proteins, and the biochemical analysis of liver function. These results show that Fah-/-Nod/Scid mice are an ideal humanized liver mouse model with many useful applications. | SU BaoLiang LIU ChangCheng XIANG Dao ZHANG HaiBin YUAN SiMing WANG MinJun CHEN Fei ZHU HaiYing HE ZhiYing WANG Xin HU YiPing | 2011 | Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,3: | 5
High performance CuO-CeO_2 catalysts for selective oxidation of CO in excess hydrogen:Effect of hydrothermal preparation conditions显示文摘High performance CuO-CeO2 catalysts for selective oxidation of CO in excess hydrogen were prepared by a hydrothermal method under different preparation conditions and evaluated for catalytic activities and selectivities.By changing the nCTAB/nCe ratio and hydrothermal aging time, the catalytic activity of the CuO-CeO2 catalysts increased and the operating temperature window,in which the CO conversion was higher than 99%,was widened.XRD results showed no peaks of CuOx species and Cu-Ce-O solid solution were observed. On the other hand,Cu+ species in the CuO-CeO2 catalysts, which was associated with a strong interaction between copper oxide clusters and cerium oxide and could be favorable for improving the selective oxidation performance of CO in excess H2,were detected by H2-TPR and XPS techniques. | Pengfei Zhu Jing Li Qinqin Huang Siming Yan Mei Liu Renxian Zhou | 2009 | Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2009,18,3: | 2
Correlation between the physical parameters and the electrochemical performance of a silicon anode in lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Lithium-ion battery anode used as silicon particles were obtained from different major suppliers, and they were characterized by different spectroscopic techniques and evaluated by electrochemical experiments.Correlations between the key physical parameters and electrochemical properties of the silicon particles were investigated.Silicon particle size, surface oxygen content,-OH content and physical appearance are found to strongly influence the electrochemical properties of the Si anode. The particle size of 100 nm has great promise for the practical application of Si nanoparticles in the lithium-ion battery industry. An inverse correlation between the oxygen content and the reversible capacity or first coulombic efficiency was obtained.The-OH content by surface treatment contributes to enhanced cycling stability by the improved affinity between the Si particle and the water-soluble binder.Spherical Si particles perform better compared to irregular particles, and agglomeration dramatically decreases the cycling stability of the Si anode.Among the investigated Si particles, the sample that exhibited a reversible capacity of more than 2500 mAh g^(-1),a first coulombic efficiency of 89.26%and an excellent cycling stability, has great potential for use in the battery industry. | Guobin Zhu Yan Wang Siming Yang Qunting Qu Honghe Zheng | 2019 | Journal of Materiomics2019,5,2: | 2
ASYMPTOTIC BEHAVIOR OF DYNAMIC EQUATIONS ON A PERIODIC TIME SCALES显示文摘We first prove some basic results on the periodic time scales, then on a special but practical periodic time scales T =∪[k(a + b),k(a + b) + a], the asymptotic behavior of x△ = px is explored with specific emphasis given to how the graininess of the time scales affects stability. At last, we analyze the asymptotic properties of the solutions of planar linear dynamic system, and obtain some sufficient conditions for the stability of the equalibium (0,0). | Liu Ailian Zhu Siming | 2005 | Annals of Differential Equations2005,21,4: | 2

A loss-of-function mutant allele of a glycosyl hydrolase gene has been co-opted for seed weight control during soybean domestication显示文摘The resultant DNA from loss-of-function mutation can be recruited in biological evolution and development. Here,we present such a rare and potential case of“to gain by loss”as a neomorphic mutation during soybean domestication for increasing seed weight.Using a population derived from a chromosome segment substitution line of Glycine max(SN14)and Glycine soja(ZYD06),a quantitative trait locus(QTL)of 100-seed weight(q HSW)was mapped on chromosome 11,corresponding to a truncatedβ-1,3-glucosidase(βGlu)gene.The novel gene hsw results from a 14-bp deletion, causing a frameshift mutation and a premature stop codon in theβGlu.In contrast to HSW,the hsw completely lostβGlu activity and function but acquired a novel function to promote cell expansion, thus increasing seed weight.Overexpressing hsw instead of HSW produced large soybean seeds, and surprisingly, truncating hsw via gene editing further increased the seed size.We further found that the core 21-aa peptide of hsw and its variants acted as a promoter of seed size.Transcriptomic variation in these transgenic soybean lines substantiated the integration hsw into cell and seed size control. Moreover, the hsw allele underwent selection and expansion during soybean domestication and improvement. Our work cloned a likely domesticated QTL controlling soybean seed weight, revealed a novel genetic variation and mechanism in soybean domestication, and provided new insight into crop domestication and breeding, and plant evolution. | Siming Wei Bin Yong Hongwei Jiang Zhenghong An Yan Wang Bingbing Li Ce Yang Weiwei Zhu Qingshan Chen Chaoying He | 2023 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,11: | 1
Identification of key genes underlying the effects of obesity on knee osteoarthritis显示文摘To the Editor:Osteoarthritis(OA)is a disease associated with high morbidity and disability.Obesity, typically measured as a body mass index(BMI)≥30 kg/m2,is a well-known risk factor for the onset of OA and its related complications.[1]Interestingly,these two diseases may have common underlying mechanisms which contribute to the pathogenesis, such as genetic changes, and these mechanisms have not yet been fully explored.Gene expression profiling is a powerful tool used to systematically identify the molecular features underlying genetic variations associated with complex multifactorial diseases such as OA.In addition,it has been shown the significance of gene expression in understanding the mechanisms in the pathogenesis of obesity and OA.[2]This study hypothesized that hub genes could explain the relationship between obesity and OA.Consequently, identifying that these genes are involved could provide insights into the detailed regulatory mechanisms of obesity on OA. | Siming Dai Juan Zhang Xiaoying Zhu Yuxuan Lin Ying Cui Zhiyi Zhang Zhiguo Lin | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,4: | 1

National incidence of joint dislocation in China:a retrospective survey of 512,187 individuals显示文摘Background:Joint dislocations significantly impact public health. However,a comprehensive study on the incidence, distribution, and risk factors for joint dislocations in China is lacking. We conducted the China National Joint Dislocation Study, which is a part of the China National Fracture Study conducted to obtain the national incidence and risk factors for traumatic fractures, and to investigate the incidence and risk factors for joint dislocations. Methods:For this national retrospective epidemiological study,512,187 participants were recruited using stratified random sampling and probability-proportional-to-size method from January 19 to May 16,2015.Participants who sustained joint dislocations of the trunk, arms,or legs(skull, sternum, and ribs being excluded)in 2014 were personally interviewed to obtain data on age, educational background, ethnic origin, occupation, geographic region, and urbanization degree. The joint-dislocation incidence was calculated based on age, sex, body site, and demographic factors. The risk factors for different groups were examined using multiple logistic regression. Results:One hundred and nineteen participants sustained 121 joint dislocations in 2014.The population-weighted incidence rate of joint dislocations of the trunk, arms,or legs was 0.22(95%confidence interval[CI]:0.16,0.27)per 1000 population in 2014(men,0.27[0.20,0.34];women,0.16[0.10,0.23]).For all ages, previous dislocation history(male:OR 42.33,95%confidence interval[CI]:12.03-148.90;female:OR 54.43,95%CI:17.37-170.50)and alcohol consumption(male:OR 3.50,95%CI:1.49-8.22;female:OR 2.65,95%CI:1.08-6.50)were risk factors for joint dislocation.Sleeping less than 7 h/day was a risk factor for men.Compared with children, women aged≥15 years(female 15-64 years:OR 0.16,95%CI:0.04-0.61;female≥65 years:OR 0.06,95%CI:0.01-0.41)were less likely to sustain joint dislocations.Women with more than three children were at higher dislocation risk than women without children(OR 6.92,95%CI:1.18-40.78).Conclusions:The up-to-date data on joint dislocation incidence, distribution, and risk factors can be used as a reference for national healthcare, prevention, and management in China.Specific strategies for decreasing alcohol consumption and encouraging adequate sleeping hours should be developed to prevent or reduce dislocation incidents.Trial Registration:Chinese Clinical Trial Registry,ChiCTR-EPR-15005878. | Hongzhi Lv Wei Chen Zhiyong Hou Siming Jia Yanbin Zhu Bo Liu Xiao Chen Guang Yang Lei Liu Tao Zhang Haili Wang Bing Yin Song Liu Jialiang Guo Xiaolin Zhang Yichong Li Yingze Zhang | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,14: | 0

Combinatorial screening via high-throughput preparation:Thermoelectric performance optimization for n-type Bi-Te-Se film with high average zT>1显示文摘Thermoelectric materials have drawn extensive interest due to the direct conversion between electricity and heat, however,it is usually a time-consuming process for applying traditional“sequential”meth-ods to grow materials and investigate their properties, especially for thermoelectric films that typically require fine microstructure control.High-throughput experimental approaches can effectively accelerate materials development, but the methods for high-throughput screening of the microstructures require further study. In this work,a combinatorial high-throughput optimization solution of material properties is proposed for the parallel screening and optimizing of composition and microstructure, which involves two distinctive types of high-throughput fabrication approaches for thin films, along with a new portable multiple discrete masks based high-throughput preparation platform.Thus,Bi_(2)Te_(3-x)Se_(x)thin film library with 196 throughputs for locating the optimized composition is obtained in one growth cycle. In addition, another thin film library composed of 31 materials with traceable process parameters is built to further investigate the relationship between microstructure, process, and thermoelectric performance.Through high-throughput screening, the Bi_(2)Te_(2.9)Se_(0.1)film with(00l)orientation is prepared with a peak zT value of 1.303 at 353 K along with a high average zT value of 1.047 in the interval from 313 to 523 K.This method can be also extended to the discovery of other functional thin films with a rapid combinatorial screening of the composition and structure to accelerate material optimization. | Guangyu Han Wei Zhu Siming Guo Jie Zhou Yutong Liu Yuan Deng | 2023 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,29: | 0
Selection and evaluation of suitable tree species in dry and dusty mining areas of Northwest China显示文摘To select drought-resistant and dust-tolerant native species suitable for use in the rehabilitation of major coal bases in northwest China, nine tree species were identified for growth rates, biomass, harm index, and physiological indices under drought and high dust stress conditions. The results showed that,in the dust resistance index system, the order was Caragana korshinskii>Amorpha fruticosa>Sabina vulgaris>Hedysarum scoparium>Tamarix chinensis>Ammopiptanthus mongolicus>Ulmus pumila>C aryopteris mongholica>Elaeagnus angustifolia. In a comprehensive drought and dust resistance index system,14 indices(such as shoot length, stomatal conductance, and peroxidase)had the larger weight indices. The drought and dust resistance order of the tree species was C aragana korshinskii>Ulmus pumila>Amorpha fruticosa>Sabina vulgaris>Caryopteris mongholica>Ammopiptanthus mongolicus>H edysarum scoparium>Tamarix chinensis>Elaeagnus angustifolia. This study provides effective strategies and references for selecting suitable tree species for arid mining sites in China, and also for the revegetation of coal mining sites worldwide. | Xiaofang Zhu Bing Cao Siming Zhao Xing Wang Hao Zhang Deping Gao Yongfeng Duan | 2022 | Journal of Forestry Research2022,33,6: | 0
