2Denitrification Losses and N_2O Emissions from Nitrogen Fertilizer Applied to a Vegetable Field显示文摘A field experiment was conducted on Chinese cabbage (Brassica campestris L. ssp. pekinensis (Lour.) Olsson) in a Nanjing suburb in 2003. The experiment included 4 treatments in a randomized complete block design with 3 replicates: zero chemical fertilizer N (CK); urea at rates of 300 kg N ha-1 (U300) and 600 kg N ha-1 (U600), both as basal and two topdressings; and polymer-coated urea at a rate of 180 kg N ha-1 (PCU180) as a basal application. The acetylene inhibition technique was used to measure denitrification (N2+N2O) from intact soil cores and N2O emissions in the absence of acetylene. Results showed that compared to CK total denitrification losses were significantly greater (P≤0.05) in the PCU180, U300, and U600 treatments, while N2O emissions in the U300 and U600 treatments were significantly higher (P≤0.05) than CK. In the U300 and U600 treatments peaks of denitrification and N2O emission were usually observed after N application. In the polymer-coated urea treatment (PCU180) during the period 20 to 40 days after transplanting, higher denitrification rates and N2O fluxes occurred. Compared with urea, polymer-coated urea did not show any effect on reducing denitrification losses and N2O emissions in terms of percentage of applied N. As temperature gradually decreased from transplanting to harvest, denitrification rates and N2O emissions tended to decrease. 7Cloning and characterization of a potato StAN11 gene involved in anthocyanin biosynthesis regulation显示文摘Anthocyanins are a class of products of plant secondary metabolism and are responsible for tubers color in potato.The biosynthesis of anthocyanins is a complex Researchbiological process,in which multiple genes are involved including structural genes and regulatory genes.In this study,StAN11,a WD40-repeat gene,was cloned from potato cultivar Chieftain(Solanum tuberosum L.).StAN11(HQ599506)contained no intron and its open reading frame(ORF)was 1,029 bp long,encoding a putative protein of 342 amino acids.In order to verify its role in anthocyanin biosynthesis,StAN11 was inserted behind the CaMV-35S promoter of pCMBIA1304 and the recombination vector was introduced into the potato cultivar Désirée plants by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation.The color of transgenic tuber skin was significantly deepened,compared to the wild-type control,which was highly consistent with the accumulation of anthocyanin and expression of StAN11 in transgenic lines tuber skin.Further analysis on the expression of Flavonone-3-hydroxylase(F3H),Dihydroflavonol reductase(DFR),Anthocyanidin synthase(ANS),and Flavonoid 3-O-glucosyl transferase(3GT)in transgenic plants revealed that only DFR was upregulated.This result suggested that StAN11 regulated anthocyanin biosynthesis in potato by controlling DFR expression and accumulation of anthocyanin could be increased through overexpression of StAN11 in the tubers with the genetic background of anthocyanin biosynthesis.Wang Li Bing Wang Man Wang Min Chen Jing-Ming Yin Ghullam Murtaza Kaleri Rui-Jie Zhang Tie-Niu Zuo Xiong You Qing Yang 2014Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2014,56,4:13

11Reproductive management through integration of PGD and MPS-based noninvasive prenatal screening/diagnosis for a family with GJB2-associated hearing impairment显示文摘A couple with a proband child of GJB2(encoding the gap junction protein connexin 26)-associated hearing impairment and a previous pregnancy miscarriage sought for a reproductive solution to bear a healthy child. Our study aimed to develop a customized preconception-to-neonate care trajectory to fulfill this clinical demand by integrating preimplantation genetic diagnosis(PGD), noninvasive prenatal testing(NIPT), and noninvasive prenatal diagnosis(NIPD) into the strategy. Auditory and genetic diagnosis of the proband child was carried out to identify the disease causative mutations. The couple then received in-vitro-fertilization treatment, and eight embryos were obtained for day 5 biopsy. PGD was performed by short-tandem-repeat linkage analysis and Sanger sequencing of GJB2 gene. Transfer of a GJB2 c.235del C heterozygous embryo resulted in a singleton pregnancy. At the 13 th week of gestation, genomic DNA(g DNA) from the trio family and cell-free DNA(cf DNA) from maternal plasma were obtained for assessment of fetal chromosomal aneuploidy and GJB2 mutations. NIPT and NIPD showed the absence of chromosomal aneuploidy and GJB2-associated disease in the fetus, which was later confirmed by invasive procedures and postnatal genetic/auditory diagnosis. 12Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. 14Lowering the energy consumption in silicon photonic devices and systems [Invited]显示文摘We review current silicon photonic devices and their performance in connection with energy consumption.Four critical issues are identified to lower energy consumption in devices and systems: reducing the influence of the thermo-optic effect, increasing the wall-plug efficiency of lasers on silicon, optimizing energy performance of modulators, and enhancing the sensitivity of photodetectors. Major conclusions are(1) Mach–Zehnder interferometer-based devices can achieve athermal performance without any extra energy consumption while microrings do not have an efficient passive athermal solution;(2) while direct bonded III–V-based Si lasers can meet system power requirement for now, hetero-epitaxial grown III–V quantum dot lasers are competitive and may be a better option for the future;(3) resonant modulators, especially coupling modulators, are promising for low-energy consumption operation even when the power to stabilize their operation is included;(4) benefiting from high sensitivity and low cost, Ge/Si avalanche photodiode is the most promising photodetector and can be used to effectively reduce the optical link power budget. 16Characteristics,sources and health risks assessment of VOCs in Zhengzhou,China during haze pollution season显示文摘Zhengzhou is one of the most haze-polluted cities in Central China with high organic carbon emission,which accounts for 15%-20%of particulate matter(PM_(2.5))in winter and causes significantly adverse health effects.Volatile organic compounds(VOCs)are the precursors of secondary PM_(2.5)and O_(3)formation.An investigation of characteristics,sources and health risks assessment of VOCs was carried out at the urban area of Zhengzhou from 1^(st) to 31^(st) December,2019.The mean concentrations of total detected VOCs were 48.8±23.0 ppbv.Alkanes(22.0±10.4 ppbv),halocarbons(8.1±3.9 ppbv)and aromatics(6.5±3.9 ppbv)were the predominant VOC species,followed by alkenes(5.1±3.3 ppbv),oxygenated VOCs(3.6±1.8 ppbv),alkyne(3.5±1.9,ppbv)and sulfide(0.5±0.9 ppbv).The Positive Matrix Factorization model was used to identify and apportion VOCs sources.Five major sources of VOCs were identified as vehicular exhaust,industrial processes,combustion,fuel evaporation,and solvent use.The carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risk values of species were calculated.The carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risks of almost all air toxics increased during haze days.The total non-carcinogenic risks exceeded the acceptable ranges.Most VOC species posed no non-carcinogenic risk during three haze events.The carcinogenic risks of chloroform,1,2-dichloroethane,1,2-dibromoethane,benzyl chloride,hexachloro-1,3-butadiene,benzene and naphthalene were above the acceptable level(1.0×10^(-6))but below the tolerable risk level(1.0×10^(-4)).Industrial emission was the major contributor to non-carcinogenic,and solvent use was the major contributor to carcinogenic risks.Dong Zhang Bing He Minghao Yuan Shijie Yu Shasha Yin Ruiqin Zhang 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,10:10
17Characteristics of the HIV/AIDS Epidemic in Women Aged 15-49 Years from 2005 to 2012 in China显示文摘Objective To describe the characteristics of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in women aged 15-49 years in China. Methods HIV/AIDS cases from 2005 to 2012 that fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria were identified on the Chinese HIV/AIDS case reporting system. Descriptive and spatial analyses were performed. Results A total of 103,559 female HIV/AIDS cases were included in our study. Based on the descriptive analysis, between 2005 and 2012, the proportion of heterosexually acquired HIV infection among women(15-49 years) increased rapidly from 35.8% to 87.4%. Approximately 60% of these cases were infected through non-marital heterosexual contact. Among older women(40-49 years), a slightly increasing trend was identified. The spatial analysis detected ‘hot spots' in the Xinjiang, Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangxi, and Chongqing provinces. The epidemic trends in these areas were predominately driven by heterosexual transmission. Conclusion Non-marital heterosexual contact is a very important factor in the HIV/AIDS epidemic in women aged 15-49 years, and the HIV infection rate in older women is increasing. Several epidemic hot spots were detected in northwestern and southwestern China. 18Glutamate and aspartate alleviate testicular/epididymal oxidative stress by supporting antioxidant enzymes and immune defense systems in boars显示文摘Several potential oxidative agents have damaging effects on mammalian reproductive systems.This study was conducted to investigate the effects of glutamate(Glu)and aspartate(Asp)supplementation on antioxidant enzymes and immune defense systems in the outer scrotum of boars injected with H2O2.A total of 24 healthy boars were randomly divided into 4 treatment groups:control(basal diet,saline-treated),H2O2(basal diet,H2O2-challenged outer scrotum(1 m L kg^–1 BW)),Glu(basal diet+2%Glu,H2O2-challenged),and Asp(basal diet+2%Asp,H2O2-challenged).Our results showed that both Glu and Asp supplementation improved testicular morphology and decreased the genital index in the H2O2-treated boars.Glu and Asp administration increased the antioxidant enzyme activities and affected the testicular inflammatory cytokine secretion but had no effect on sex hormone levels.Furthermore,the m RNA expression of CAT,Cu Zn SOD,and GPx4 was altered in the testes and epididymis of boars treated with Asp and Glu.Glu and Asp supplementation also modulated the expression of TGF-β1,IL-10,TNF-α,IL-6 and IL-1βin the testis and epididymis.These results indicate that dietary Glu and Asp supplementation might enhance antioxidant capacity and regulate the secretion and expression of inflammatory cytokines to protect the testes and epididymis of boars against oxidative stress.Wenjie Tang Jian Wu Shunshun Jin Liuqin He Qinlu Lin Feijun Luo Xingguo He Yanzhong Feng Binsheng He Pingping Bing Tiejun Li Yulong Yin 2020Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,1:9
19A comparison of perioperative outcomes between extraperitoneal robotic single-port and multiport radical prostatectomy with the da Vinci Si Surgical System显示文摘To evaluate outcomes between extraperitoneal robotic single-port radical prostatectomy(epR-spRP)and extraperitoneal robotic multiport radical prostatectomy(epR-mpRP)performed with the da Vinci Si Surgical System,comparison was performed between 30 single-port(SP group)and 26 multiport(MP group)cases.Comparisons included operative time,estimated blood loss(EBL),hospital stay,peritoneal violation,pain scores,scar satisfaction,continence,and erectile function.The median operation time and EBL were not different between the two groups.In the SP group,the median operation time of the first 10 patients was obviously longer than that of the latter 20 patients(P<0.001).The median postoperative hospital stay in the SP group was shorter than that in the MP group(P<0.001).The rate of peritoneal damage in the SP group was less than that in the MP group(P=0.017).The pain score and overall need for pain medications in the SP group were lower than those in the MP group(P<0.001 and P=0.015,respectively).Patients in the SP group were more satisfied with their scars than those in the MP group 3 months postoperatively(P=0.007).At 3 months,the cancer control,recovery of erectile function,and urinary continence rates were similar between the two groups.It is safe and feasible to perform epR-spRP using the da Vinci Si surgical system.Therefore,epR-spRP can be a treatment option for localized prostate cancer.Although epR-spRP still has a learning curve,it has advantages for postoperative pain and self-assessed cosmesis.In the absence of the single-port robotic surgery platform,we can still provide minimally invasive surgery for patients.Guan-Qun Ju Zhi-Jun Wang Jia-Zi Shi Zong-Qin Zhang Zhen-Jie Wu Lei Yin Bing Liu Lin-Hui Wang Dong-Liang Xu 2021Asian Journal of Andrology2021,23,6:7
