2Effect of early enteral nutrition on postoperative nutritional status and immune function in elderly patients with esophageal cancer or cardiac cancer显示文摘Objective: To explore the effect of early enteral nutrition (EN) on postoperative nutritional status, intestinal permeability, and immune function in elderly patients with esophageal cancer or cardiac cancer. Methods: A total of 96 patients with esophageal cancer or cardiac cancer who underwent surgical treatment in our hospital from June 2007 to December 2010 were enrolled in this study. They were divided into EN group (n=50) and parenteral nutrition (PN) group (n=46) based on the nutrition support modes. The body weight, time to first flatus/defecation, average hospital stay, complications and mortality after the surgery as well as the liver function indicators were recorded and analyzed. Peripheral blood samples were collected on the days 1, 4 and 7 after surgery. The plasma diamine oxidase (DAO) activity and D-lactate level were determined to assess the intestinal permeability. The plasma endotoxin levels were determined using dynamic turbidimetric assay to assess the protective effect of EN on intestinal mucosal barrier. The postoperative blood levels of inflammatory cytokines and immunoglobulins were determined using enzyme- linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results: After the surgery, the time to first flatus/defecation, average hospital stay, and complications were significantly less in the EN group than those in the PN group (P<0.05), whereas the EN group had significantly higher albumin levels than the PN group (P<0.05). On the 7th postoperative day, the DAO activity, D-lactate level and endotoxin contents were significantly lower in the EN group than those in the PN group (all P<0.05). In addition, the EN group had significantly higher IgA, IgG, IgM, and CD4 levels than the PN group (P<0.05) but significantly lower IL-2, IL-6, and TNF-α levels (P<0.05). 4Quantitative relationship between visibility and mass concentration of PM2.5 in Beijing显示文摘The pollution of particulate matter less than 2.5 mm(PM2.5) is a serio us environmental problem in Beijing. The annual average concentration of PM2.5 i n 2001 from seasonal monitor results was more than 6 times that of the U.S. nati onal ambient air quality standards proposed by U.S. EPA. The major contributors to mass of PM2.5 were organics, crustal elements and sulfate. The chemical compo sition of PM2.5 varied largely with season, but was similar at different monitor stations in the same season. The fine particles (PM2.5) cause atmospheric visib ility deterioration through light extinction. The mass concentrations of PM2.5 w ere anti-correlated to the visibility, the best fits between atmospheric visibil ity and the mass concentrations of PM2.5 were somehow different: power in spring , exponential in summer, logarithmic in autumn, power or exponential in winter. 5Moisture variations over the past millennium characterized by Qaidam Basin tree-ring δ^(18)O显示文摘High-resolution tree-ring δ18O chronologies covering the last millennium,although scarce,are essential in understanding patterns of climatic changes in the northeastern region of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau.For this study,a tree-ring δ18O chronology with a temporal resolution of 3-years was developed from the long-lived Qilian juniper(Sabina przewalskii Kom.),extending back in time to AD 991.This long δ18O chronology was significantly correlated with the yearly δ18O in tree rings during the common period from 1800 to 2006,and was an effective proxy for relative humidity during the growing season.A low-frequency moisture pattern signified the occurrence of a slight drought during the Medieval Climate Anomaly,a marked occurrence of a wet period during the Little Ice Age,and a trend in increasing moisture levels,although lower than average,alongside the Twentieth Century warming trend.Comparisons to other hydroclimatic reconstructions indicate that this tree-ring18O chronology serves as a reliable paleo-humidity proxy for the Qaidam Basin as well as documenting details of past humidity levels in the region.WANG WenZhi LIU XiaoHong XU GuoBao SHAO XueMei QIN DaHe SUN WeiZhen AN WenLing ZENG XiaoMin 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,32:14

7Activation of mTORC1 in subchondral bone preosteoblasts promotes osteoarthritis by stimulating bone sclerosis and secretion of CXCL12显示文摘Increasing evidences show that aberrant subchondral bone remodeling plays an important role in the development of osteoarthritis(OA).However,how subchondral bone formation is activated and the mechanism by which increased subchondral bone turnover promotes cartilage degeneration during OA remains unclear.Here,we show that the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1(mTORC1)pathway is activated in subchondral bone preosteoblasts(Osterix+)from OA patients and mice.Constitutive activation of mTORC1 in preosteoblasts by deletion of the mTORC1 upstream inhibitor,tuberous sclerosis 1,induced aberrant subchondral bone formation,and sclerosis with little-to-no effects on articular cartilage integrity,but accelerated posttraumatic OA development in mice.In contrast,inhibition of mTORC1 in preosteoblasts by disruption of Raptor(mTORC1-specific component)reduced subchondral bone formation and cartilage degeneration,and attenuated post-traumatic OA in mice.Mechanistically,mTORC1 activation promoted preosteoblast expansion and Cxcl12 secretion,which induced subchondral bone remodeling and cartilage degeneration during OA.A Cxcl12-neutralizing antibody reduced cartilage degeneration and alleviated OA in mice.Altogether,these findings demonstrate that mTORC1 activation in subchondral preosteoblasts is not sufficient to induce OA,but can induce aberrant subchondral bone formation and secrete of Cxcl12 to accelerate disease progression following surgical destabilization of the joint.Pharmaceutical inhibition of the pathway presents a promising therapeutic approach for OA treatment.Chuangxin Lin Liangliang Liu Chun Zeng Zhong-Kai Cui Yuhui Chen Pinling Lai Hong Wang Yan Shao Haiyan Zhang Rongkai Zhang Chang Zhao Hang Fang Daozhang Cai Xiaochun Bai 2019Bone Research2019,7,1:12

11Association Between Serum Uric Acid and Prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes Diagnosed using HbA1c Criteria Among Chinese Adults in Qingdao,China显示文摘Objective To determine whether elevated serum uric acid(UA)levels are associated with type 2 diabetes diagnosed using Hb A1 c levels among Chinese adults.Methods We conducted two population-based cross-sectional studies in Qingdao in China in 2006 and 2009.A total of 6894(39.4% men)subjects aged 35-74 years were included in the data analysis.Newly diagnosed diabetes was defined as Hb A1 c level of ≥6.5%,and prediabetes was classified as Hb A1 c level between 5.7% and 6.4% according to the International Diabetes Federation criteria.Multivariate logistic regression was employed to assess the association between UA and prevalence of type 2 diabetes defined using Glycated hemoglobin A1c(Hb A1 c levels.Results Subjects with prediabetes had higher UA levels than those with normal glucose tolerance,newly diagnosed diabetes,and known diabetes,with corresponding values of 325.1(82.5)μmol/L,310.9(84.2)μmol/L,291.3(81.7)μmol/L,305.2(83.6)μmol/L,respectively(P<0.001 for all comparisons).Binary logistic regression analysis showed that UA was a possible predictor for the prevalence of type 2 diabetes diagnosed using Hb A1 c levels,and the second quartile of UA levels had a higher odds ratio(OR:4.088;95% CI:2.900-5.765)for Hb A1 c than the other quartiles after adjusting for age,body mass index,sex,marital status,education,income,alcohol consumption,smoking,and cardiometabolic parameters.Conclusion Serum UA is significantly associated with type 2 diabetes diagnosed using Hb A1 c levels,independent of other cardiometabolic parameters.XUE Bai TAN Ji Bin NING Feng SUN Jian Ping ZHANG Ke Yi LIU Li WANG Shao Jie ZHANG Dong Feng QIAO Qing PANG Zeng Chang 2015Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2015,28,12:9
12The chemical treatments combined with antagonistic yeast control anthracnose and maintain the quality of postharvest mango fruit显示文摘During the storage and transportation of the mango fruit, the major source of disease is anthracnose, caused by the fungus Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. The objective of this study is to find an appropriate method that not only reduces mango decay but also maintains its postharvest quality. The effects of chemicals, the use of the yeast species Metschnikowia pulcherrima and their combination on storage quality, focusing on the enzyme activity related to disease of Tainong mangos was studied. By immersing the mangoes in M. pulcherrima suspension(1.0×10~8 cfu mL^(–1)), salicylic acid(SA) solution(50 mg L^(–1)) or calcium chloride(CaCl_2) solution(1.0 g L^(–1)), the lesion expansion and decay of the mango fruit caused by C. gloeosporioides could be significantly delayed. These treatments also delayed the changes in quality traits(a~* value, firmness, contents of total soluble solids(TSS) and vitamin C(Vc), while the activities of anti-disease enzymes such as polyphenol oxidase(PPO), phenylalanine ammonia lyase(PAL), chitinase(CHT) and β-1,3-glucanase(GUN) were enhanced as compared to the control treatment. Furthermore, the combination of SA solution, CaCl_2 solution and M. pulcherrima suspension presented an additive effect, increasing the efficacy in controlling the disease and maintaining the storage quality of mango fruits. 13Investigation of carbonyl compound sources at a rural site in the Yangtze River Delta region of China显示文摘Carbonyl compounds are important intermediates in atmospheric photochemistry, but their primary sources are still not understood well. In this work, carbonyls, hydrocarbons,and alkyl nitrates were continuously measured during November 2011 at a rural site in the Yangtze River Delta region of China. Mixing ratios of carbonyls and hydrocarbons showed large fluctuations during the entire measurement. The average level for total measured volatile organic compounds during the pollution episode from 25 th to 27 th November, 2011 was 91.6 ppb, about 7 times the value for the clean period of 7th–8th, November, 2011. To preliminarily identify toluene sources at this site, the emission ratio of toluene to benzene(T/B) during the pollution episode was determined based on photochemical ages derived from the relationship of alkyl nitrates to their parent alkanes. The calculated T/B was5.8 ppb/ppb, significantly higher than the values of 0.2–1.7 ppb/ppb for vehicular exhaust and other combustion sources, indicating the dominant influence of industrial emissions on ambient toluene. The contributions of industrial sources to ambient carbonyls were then calculated using a multiple linear regression fit model that used toluene and alkyl nitrates as respective tracers for industrial emission and secondary production. During the pollution episode, 18.5%, 69.0%, and 52.9% of measured formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, and acetone were considered to be attributable to industrial emissions. The emission ratios relative to toluene for formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, and acetone were determined to be 0.10, 0.20 and0.40 ppb/ppb, respectively. 15One-step synthesis of Fe-Ni hydroxide nanosheets derived from bimetallic foam for efficient electrocatalytic oxygen evolution and overall water splitting显示文摘The research of superior water oxidation electrodes is essential for the green energy in the form of hydrogen by way of electrolytic water splitting, and still remains challenging. Based upon dealloying foam, Fe-Ni hydroxide nanosheets network structure is designed on the surface of Fe-Ni alloy foam. The ratio of Ni/Fe elements was adjusted to realize the optimal catalytic activities for oxygen evolution reaction(OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER). 16Validity of the Chinese Version of the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) in Lung Cancer Patients显示文摘The prevalence of malnutrition is high among oncology patients in China. Although the Patient- Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is widely recognized as an important nutritional assessment tool, it has not been validated for Chinese cancer patients. The purpose of this study was to conduct an analysis of nutrition screening and assessment data to validate the Chinese version of the PG-SGA in Chinese patients with lung cancer. This was an observational, cross-sectional study of 2,000 consecutive adult patients with lung cancer treated at several tertiary hospitals in China. Anthropometric and patient descriptive data were collected. The PG-SGA generated a score for the nutritional risk and a global rating for the nutritional status. The internal consistency, external consistency, and construct validity were evaluated, and a known-groups comparison and principal component analyses were conducted to evaluate the reliability and validity of the PG-SGA. The known-groups comparison demonstrated the ability of the PG-SGA to differentiate lung cancer patients of different nutritional and body mass index (BMI) groups. A confirmatory factor analysis supported the original four-factor structure of the PG-SGA. In terms of the internal and external consistency, the PG-SGA demonstrated intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) up to 0.987. Alternative form validity was also demonstrated between Box 4 of the PG-SGA and the Karnofsky Performance Status score, with excellent external consistency (r = 0.972, P < 0.001). The construct validity was supported, and selected questionnaire dimensions were evident in the principal component analysis. Significant Spearman correlations (P < 0.001) were demonstrated. The Chinese version of the PG-SGA demonstrated significant reliability and sufficient exploratory properties to support its validity. It seems to be a valid tool that can be used to access the nutritional status of Chinese lung cancer patients. 17A multi-dimensional tabu search algorithm for the optimization of process planning显示文摘Computer-aided process planning(CAPP) is an essential component of computer integrated manufacturing(CIM) system. A good process plan can be obtained by optimizing two elements,namely,operation sequence and the machining parameters of machine,tool and tool access direction(TAD) for each operation. This paper proposes a novel optimization strategy for process planning that considers different dimensions of the problem in parallel. A multi-dimensional tabu search(MDTS) algorithm based on this strategy is developed to optimize the four dimensions of a process plan,namely,operation sequence(OperSeq),machine sequence(MacSeq),tool sequence(ToolSeq) and tool approach direction sequence(TADSeq),sequentially and iteratively. In order to improve its efficiency and stability,tabu search,which is incorporated into the proposed MDTS algorithm,is used to optimize each component of a process plan,and some neighbourhood strategies for different components are presented for this tabu search algorithm. The proposed MDTS algorithm is employed to test four parts with different numbers of operations taken from the literature and compared with the existing algorithms like genetic algorithm(GA),simulated annealing(SA),tabu search(TS) and particle swarm optimization(PSO) . 18FABP4 secreted by M1-polarized macrophages promotes synovitis and angiogenesis to exacerbate rheumatoid arthritis显示文摘Increasing evidence shows that adipokines play a vital role in the development of rheumatoid arthritis(RA).Fatty acid-binding protein 4(FABP4),a novel adipokine that regulates inflammation and angiogenesis,has been extensively studied in a variety of organs and diseases.However,the effect of FABP4 on RA remains unclear.Here,we found that FABP4 expression was upregulated in synovial M1-polarized macrophages in RA.The increase in FABP4 promoted synovitis,angiogenesis,and cartilage degradation to exacerbate RA progression in vivo and in vitro,whereas BMS309403(a FABP4 inhibitor)and anagliptin(dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitor)inhibited FABP4 expression in serum and synovial M1-polarized macrophages in mice to alleviate RA progression.Further studies showed that constitutive activation of mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1(mTORC1)by TSC1 deletion specifically in the myeloid lineage regulated FABP4 expression in macrophages to exacerbate RA progression in mice.In contrast,inhibition of mTORC1 by ras homolog enriched in brain(Rheb1)disruption specifically in the myeloid lineage reduced FABP4 expression in macrophages to attenuate RA development in mice.Our findings established an essential role of FABP4 that is secreted by M1-polarized macrophages in synovitis,angiogenesis,and cartilage degradation in RA.BMS309403 and anagliptin inhibited FABP4 expression in synovial M1-polarized macrophages to alleviate RA development.Hence,FABP4 may represent a potential target for RA therapy.Dong Guo Chuangxin Lin Yuheng Lu Hong Guan Weizhong Qi Hongbo Zhang Yan Shao Chun Zeng Rongkai Zhang Haiyan Zhang Xiaochun Bai Daozhang Cai 2022Bone Research2022,10,4:5

20Validity of the Chinese Version of the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) in Gastric Cancer Patients显示文摘Purpose Malnutrition is severe among gastric cancer patients in China. While the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is a widely used nutritional assessment tool, the validation for Chinese patients with gastric cancer has not been performed yet. The aim of this research is to validate the Chinese version of the PGSGA in Chinese gastric cancer patients by conducting analyses of nutrition screening and assessment data. Methods Two thousand consecutive adult patients with gastric cancer were included in this observational, cross-sectional study in several tertiary hospitals in China. A survey was made among those patients, which included several questionnaires and some anthropometric parameters. We calculated the parameters to validate the use of PG-SGA categorizing the nutritional status of gastric cancer patients. Then we performed statistical analysis to evaluate the internal consistency, external consistency, and construct validity. Results This study verified the ability of the PG-SGA to differentiate gastric cancer patients into different nutritional groups. The confirmatory factor analysis verified the original four-factor structure of the PG-SGA. The internal and external consistency was measured by a concordance analysis which showed an intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) of 0.987. The correlations of the Box 4 score with the Karnofsky performance status score demonstrated alternative form validity with good external consistency (Pearson, r = 0.643, P < 0.001). All three anthropometric dimensions of the PG-SGA were supported by principal component analysis. Spearman correlations (P < 0.001) were significant in the majority of tests.
