1Pathogenicity of a currently circulating Chinese variant pseudorabies virus in pigs显示文摘AIM:To test the pathogenicity of pseudorabies virus(PRV)variant HN1201 and compare its pathogenicity with a classical PRV Fa strain.METHODS:The pathogenicity of the newly-emerging PRV variant HN1201 was evaluated by different inoculating routes,virus loads,and ages of pigs.The classical PRV Fa strain was then used to compare with HN1201 to determine pathogenicity.Clinical symptoms after virus infection were recorded daily and average daily body weight was used to measure the growth performance of pigs.At necropsy,gross pathology and histopathology were used to evaluate the severity of tissue damage caused by virus infection.RESULTS:The results showed that the efficient infection method of RPV HN1201 was via intranasal inoculation at 107 TCID50,and that the virus has high pathogenicity to 35-to 127-d old pigs.Compared with Fa strain,pigs infected with HN1201 showed more severe clinical symptoms and pathological lesions.Immunochemistry results revealed HN1201 had more abundant antigen distribution in extensive organs.CONCLUSION:All of the above results suggest that PRV variant HN1201 was more pathogenic to pigs than the classical Fa strain.Qing-Yuan Yang Zhe Sun Fei-Fei Tan Ling-Hua Guo Yu-Zhou Wang Juan Wang Zhi-Yan Wang Li-Lin Wang Xiang-Dong Li Yan Xiao Ke-Gong Tian 2016World Journal of Virology2016,5,1:31
2Neddylation of PTEN regulates its nuclear import and promotes tumor development显示文摘PTEN tumor suppressor opposes the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway in the cytoplasm and maintains chromosomal integrity in the nucleus.Nucleus–cytoplasm shuttling of PTEN is regulated by ubiquitylation,SUMOylation and phosphorylation,and nuclear PTEN has been proposed to exhibit tumor-suppressive functions.Here we show that PTEN is conjugated by Nedd8 under high glucose conditions,which induces PTEN nuclear import without effects on PTEN stability.PTEN neddylation is promoted by the XIAP ligase and removed by the NEDP1 deneddylase.We identify Lys197 and Lys402 as major neddylation sites on PTEN.Neddylated PTEN accumulates predominantly in the nucleus and promotes rather than suppresses cell proliferation and metabolism.The nuclear neddylated PTEN dephosphorylates the fatty acid synthase(FASN)protein,inhibits the TRIM21-mediated ubiquitylation and degradation of FASN,and then promotes de novo fatty acid synthesis.In human breast cancer tissues,neddylated PTEN correlates with tumor progression and poor prognosis.Therefore,we demonstrate a previously unidentified pool of nuclear PTEN in the Nedd8-conjugated form and an unexpected tumor-promoting role of neddylated PTEN.Ping Xie Zhiqiang Peng Yujiao Chen Hongchang Li Mengge Du Yawen Tan Xin Zhang Zhe Lu Chun-Ping Cui Cui Hua Liu Fuchu He Lingqiang Zhang 2021Cell Research2021,31,3:11
3Amine-based solvent for CO_2 absorption and its impact on carbon steel corrosion: A perspective review显示文摘Carbon dioxide(CO2)is one of the commonly emitted gaseous by-products in industrial processes.While CO2 gas is the main cause to greenhouse effect,various CO2 capture technologies have been proposed and implemented to sequester the CO2 before the waste gases being released into the atmosphere.One of the mature technologies for CO2 absorption is by using amine-based solvents.In this regard,different single amine solvents or blended amine solvents have been proven for their capability to remove CO2.However,the dissolution and reaction of CO2 gas with the amine solvents turn the solution corrosive.Such phenomenon is undesired as it posts corrosion problem to the absorption column,which normally built of carbon steel material.Henceforth,understanding the behaviour of different amine-based solvents in absorbing CO2 and its subsequent impact on carbon steel corrosion is very significant.In this review article,we will outline some of the more commonly used solvents and their respective advantages and disadvantages,motivating further investigation into the corrosion tendency.Meanwhile,existing gaps in this research area are discussed for future investigation.Zhe Lun Ooi Pui Yee Tan Lian See Tan Swee Pin Yeap 2020Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,5:7
4Emission characteristics of offshore fishing ships in the Yellow Bo Sea, China显示文摘Maritime transport has been playing a decisive role in global trade. Its contribution to the air pollution of the sea and coastal areas has been widely recognized. The air pollutant emission inventories of several harbors in China have already been established. However,the emission factors of local ships have not been addressed comprehensively, and thus are lacking from the emission inventories. In this study, on-board emission tests of eight diesel-powered offshore fishing ships were conducted near the coastal region of the northern Yellow Bo Sea fishing ground of Dalian, China. Results show that large amounts of fine particles(< 0.5 μm, 90%) were found in maneuvering mode, which were about five times higher than those during cruise mode. Emission rates as well as emission factors based on both distance and fuel were determined during the cruise and maneuvering modes(including departure and arrival). Average emission rates and distance-based emission factors of CO, HC and PM were much higher during the maneuvering mode as compared with the cruise mode. However, the average emission rate of Nitrous Oxide(NOx) was higher during the cruise mode as compared with the maneuvering modes. 6Inhibition of DNA restrictive endonucleases and Taq DNA polymerase by trimalonic acid C_(60)显示文摘Activities of trimalonic acid fullerene (TMA C_60) on DNA restrictive enzymatic reaction were investigated by using two restrictive endonucleases Hind III and EcoR I and plasmid pEGFP-N1 with single restric-tive site for both enzymes. Meanwhile, TMA C60 was also tested to clarify its effects on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with the catalyst of Taq DNA polymerase and the template of plasmid pEGFP-N1. The products from restrictive reactions or PCR were detected by agarose gel electrophoresis. It was found that the product amounts from restrictive reactions or PCR decreased significantly with addition of TMA C60. The inhibition by TMA C60 was dose-dependent and IC50 values for reactions of Hind III, EcoR I and PCR were 16.3, 6.0 and 6.0 μmol/L, respectively. Addition of two scavengers of reactive oxygen species (ROS), L-ascorbic acid-2-phosphate ester magnesium and sodium azide at the con-centrations of 2―10 mmol/L did not antagonize the activities of TMA C60 against PCR and two restrictive reactions. However, increase of Taq DNA polymerase amounts in PCR system antagonized the activities of TMA C60. 10Overcoming the limitation of in-situ microstructural control in laser additive manufactured Ti-6Al-4V alloy to enhanced mechanical performance by integration of synchronous induction heating显示文摘Although a variety of processing routes were developed to in-situ manipulate microstructure for fabricating high-performance Ti-6Al-4 V alloy by directed energy deposition(DED),the in-situ microstructural control ability has been limited and lead to a narrowed mechanical property control range.This work proved the microstructural correlation betweenβ-grains andα-laths resulting from the unique thermal characteristics of DED for the first time and solved such a dilemma through synchronous induction heating assisted laser deposition(SILD)technology.The results confirmed that the laser energy and inductive energy have a different effect on the solidification and solid phase transformation conditions.By adjusting the laser-induction parameters,the microstructural correlation can be tuned;theβ-grains andα-laths can be controlled relatively separately,thereby significantly enhancing the ductility of as-deposited sample(elongation from 14.2%to 20.1%).Furthermore,the mechanical properties of the tuned microstructures are even comparable to that of DED Ti-6Al-4 V with post heat treatment,which indicates that the potential of SILD to be a one-step manufacturing process to fabricate high performance components without post heat treatment.Furthermore,the tensile testing results of the tuned microstructures indicate thatα-lath size is more influential on the mechanical properties than theβ-grain size due to its stronger hindering effect on the slipping of dislocations.This work promotes the understanding of the microstructural formation mechanism in DED titanium alloy and proves that the combination of synchronous induction and laser can expand the ability to control the microstructure and properties of multi-layer deposition.Wei Fan Hua Tan Fengying Zhang Zhe Feng Yongxia Wang Lai-Chang Zhang Xin Lin Weidong Huang 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,35:3
11Enhancing bifunctionality of CoN nanowires by Mn doping for long-lasting Zn-air batteries显示文摘Tailoring the nanostructure and composition of transition metal nitrides is highly important for their use as potent low-cost electrocatalysts. Cobalt nitride(CoN) exhibits strong catalytic activity for oxygen evolution reaction(OER). However, its poor catalytic efficiency for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) hinders its application in rechargeable zinc-air batteries(ZABs) as the air cathode. In this work, we deploy the effective strategy of Mn doping to improve both OER and ORR activity of CoN nanowires as the cathode material for ZAB. Theoretical calculation predicts that moderate Mn doping in cobalt nitride results in a downshift of the d-band center and reduces the adsorption energy of reaction intermediates. With ~10 at% Mn dopants, stronger catalysis activities for both OER and ORR are achieved compared to pure CoN nanowires. Subsequently, both aqueous and flexible quasi-solid-state ZABs are constructed using the Mn-doped CoN nanowires array as additive-free air cathode. Both types of devices present large open circuit potential, high power density and long-cycle stability. 14On the robustness of EEG tensor completion methods显示文摘During the acquisition of electroencephalographic(EEG) signals, data may be missing or corrupted by noise and artifacts. To reconstruct the incomplete data, EEG signals are firstly converted into a three-order tensor(multi-dimensional data) of shape time × channel × trial. Then, the missing data can be efficiently recovered by applying a tensor completion method(TCM).However, there is not a unique way to organize channels and trials in a tensor, and different numbers of channels are available depending on the EEG setting used, which may affect the quality of the tensor completion results. The main goal of this paper is to evaluate the robustness of EEG completion methods with several designed parameters such as the ordering of channels and trials, the number of channels, and the amount of missing data. In this work, the results of completing missing data by several TCMs were compared. To emulate different scenarios of missing data, three different patterns of missing data were designed.Firstly, the amount of missing data on completion effects was analyzed, including the time lengths of missing data and the number of channels or trials affected by missing data. Secondly, the numerical stability of the completion methods was analyzed by shuffling the indices along channels or trials in the EEG data tensor. Finally, the way that the number of electrodes of EEG tensors influences completion effects was assessed by changing the number of channels. Among all the applied TCMs, the simultaneous tensor decomposition and completion(STDC) method achieves the best performance in providing stable results when the amount of missing data or the electrode number of EEG tensors is changed. In other words, STDC proves to be an excellent choice of TCM, since permutations of trials or channels have almost no influence on the complete results. The STDC method can efficiently complete the missing EEG signals. 15Laser powder bed fusion of high-strength Sc/Zr-modified Al–Mg alloy:phase selection,microstructural/mechanical heterogeneity,and tensile deformation behavior显示文摘Laser powder bed fusion(L-PBF)of Sc/Zr-modified Al-based alloys has recently become a promising method for developing a new generation of high-performance Al alloys.To clarify the modification roles of Sc/Zr elements,an Al–4.66Mg–0.48Mn–0.72Sc–0.33Zr(wt.%)alloy was processed using L-PBF.The effect of the local solidification condition of the molten pool on the precipitation behavior of primary Al_(3)(Sc,Zr)was analyzed based on time-dependent nucleation theory.It was found that primary Al_(3)(Sc,Zr)inevitably precipitated at the fusion boundary,while its precipitation could be effectively suppressed in the inner region of the molten pool.This subsequently induced the formation of a heterogeneousα-Al matrix.After direct aging,the heredity of solidification microstructure introduced heterogeneous secondary Al_(3)(Sc,Zr)precipitates withinα-Al matrix.Owing to the inverse relationship between grain boundary strengthening and precipitation strengthening,the direct-aged sample with dual heterogeneous structures exhibited reduced mechanical heterogeneity,resulting in lowered hetero-deformation-induced hardening.The low strain-hardening capability in the direct-aged sample promoted necking instability while inducing a large Lüders elongation,which effectively improved the tensile ductility.Zihong Wang Xin Lin Nan Kang Jing Chen Hua Tan Zhe Feng Zehao Qin Haiou Yang Weidong Huang 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,36:2

19High-speed multiwavelength InGaAs/InP quantum well nanowire array micro-LEDs for next generation optical communications显示文摘Miniaturized light sources at telecommunication wavelengths are essential components for on-chip optical communication systems.Here,we report the growth and fabrication of highly uniform p-i-n core-shell InGaAs/InP single quantum well(QW)nanowire array light emitting diodes(LEDs)with multi-wavelength and high-speed operations.Two-dimensional cathodoluminescence mapping reveals that axial and radial QWs in the nanowire structure contribute to strong emission at the wavelength of~1.35 and~1.55μm,respectively,ideal for low-loss optical communications.As a result of simultaneous contributions from both axial and radial QWs,broadband electroluminescence emission with a linewidth of 286 nm is achieved with a peak power of~17μW.A large spectral blueshift is observed with the increase of applied bias,which is ascribed to the band-filling effect based on device simulation,and enables voltage tunable multi-wavelength operation at the telecommunication wavelength range.Multi-wavelength operation is also achieved by fabricating nanowire array LEDs with different pitch sizes on the same substrate,leading to QW formation with different emission wavelengths.Furthermore,high-speed GHz-level modulation and small pixel size LED are demonstrated,showing the promise for ultrafast operation and ultracompact integration.The voltage and pitch size controlled multi-wavelength highspeed nanowire array LED presents a compact and efficient scheme for developing high-performance nanoscale light sources for future optical communication applications.Fanlu Zhang Zhicheng Su Zhe Li Yi Zhu Nikita Gagrani Ziyuan Li Mark Lockrey Li Li Igor Aharonovich Yuerui Lu Hark Hoe Tan Chennupati Jagadish Lan Fu 2023Opto-Electronic Science2023,2,5:1
20Accurate and robust estimation of phase error and its uncertainty of 50 GHz bandwidth sampling circuit显示文摘This paper discusses the dependence of the phase error on the 50 GHz bandwidth oscilloscope's sampling circuitry. We give the definition of the phase error as the difference between the impulse responses of the NTN (nose-to-nose) estimate and the true response of the sampling circuit. We develop a method to predict the NTN phase response arising from the internal sampling circuitry of the oscilloscope. For the default sampling-circuit configuration that we examine, our phase error is approximately 7.03° at 50 GHz. We study the sensitivity of the oscilloscope's phase response to parametric changes in sampling-circuit component values. We develop procedures to quantify the sensitivity of the phase error to each component and to a combination of components that depend on the fractional uncertainty in each of the model parameters as the same value, ±10%. We predict the upper and lower bounds of phase error, that is, we vary all of the circuit parameters simultaneously in such a way as to increase the phase error, and then vary all of the circuit parameters to decrease the phase error. Based on Type B evaluation, this method qualifies the impresses of all parameters of the sampling circuit and gives the value of standard uncertainty, 1.34°. This result is developed at the first time and has important practical uses.
