Quasi-3-yr Cycle of Rainy Season Precipitation in Tibet Related to Different Types of ENSO during 1981–2015显示文摘The rainy season precipitation in Tibet(RSPT) is a direct cause for local floods/droughts. It also indirectly affects the thermal conditions of the Tibetan Plateau, which can result in anomalous patterns of atmospheric circulation over East Asia. The interannual variability of the RSPT is often linked with the El Ni?o–Southern Oscillation(ENSO), but the relevant mechanisms are far from being understood, particularly for different types of ENSO events. We investigated the interannual variation of the RSPT in association with different types of ENSO. A quasi-3-yr period of the RSPT(less–more–more precipitation) was significant at the 95% confidence level. A joint multi-taper method with singular value decomposition analysis of the coupled field between the RSPT and the sea surface temperature(SST)revealed that the developing eastern Pacific type El Ni?o was accompanied by a decrease in the RSPT. The shift from the central Pacific type El Ni?o to the eastern Pacific La Ni?a was accompanied by an increase in the RSPT. Weakening of the central Pacific La Ni?a was accompanied by an increase in the RSPT. Analysis of the mechanism of this coupling, using the same analysis method but other climatic factors, indicated that the gradually strengthening eastern Pacific El Ni?o can inhibit the Walker circulation, weakening the South Asian summer monsoon, and resulting in transport of less water vapor from the Bay of Bengal to Tibet. The change from the central Pacific El Ni?o to the eastern Pacific La Ni?a led to continued strengthening of the Walker circulation with westward movement of the ascending area. This enhanced the South Asian summer monsoon over the Arabian Sea and transported more water vapor to Tibet. The decreasing central Pacific La Ni?a accompanied by persistent cooling of SSTs in the equatorial Pacific led to a strong eastern North Pacific summer monsoon, causing an anomaly in the easterly transport of water vapor from the Sea of Japan to Tibet and increased RSPT.Chunxue WANG Zhenfeng MA 2018Journal of Meteorological Research2018,32,2:5
Subtyping of type A influenza by sequencing the variable regions of HA gene specifically amplified with RT-PCR显示文摘The outbreak of a novel influenza A(H1N1) virus across the globe poses a threat to human health. It is of paramount importance to develop a rapid, reliable and inexpensive diagnostic procedure.Based on the bioinformatic information from public database, primers specific for influenza A virus surface protein haemagglutinin(HA) of several subtypes(including H1,H2,H3,H5,H7 and H9) were designed.Primer-specific PCR products were subjected to sequencing for accurately distinguishing H1 and H3 subtypes from others. This sequencing-based detection method will not only be applied to rapid detection and simultaneous subtype identification of new influenza A virus H1N1,but also provide the strategies to monitor other new types ofinfluenza virus with explosive potential.YAN An DING GuoHui ZHOU ZhenFeng DONG Hui ZHANG YaKun ZHU Lei HE YunGang ZHANG GuoQing LI YiXue SUN Bing HUANG Zhong LAN Ke JIN Li WANG HongYan WANG XiaoNing YANG Zhong ZHONG Yang DAI JianXin GUO YaJun WANG Hao CHE XiaoYan WU Fan YUAN ZhenGan ZHANG Xi CAO ZhiWei ZHOU XiaoNong ZHOU JiaHai MA ZhiYong TONG GuangZhi ZHAO GuoPing JIN WeiRong XIONG Hui 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,13:3

Anti-Parkinsonian Therapy:Strategies for Crossing the Blood–Brain Barrier and Nano-Biological Effects of Nanomaterials显示文摘Parkinson’s disease(PD),a neurodegenerative disease that shows a high incidence in older individuals,is becoming increasingly prevalent.Unfortunately, there is no clinical cure for PD,and novel anti-PD drugs are therefore urgently required. However, the selective permeability of the blood–brain barrier(BBB)poses a huge challenge in the development of such drugs.Fortunately, through strategies based on the physiological characteristics of the BBB and other modifications, including enhancement of BBB permeability, nanotechnology can offer a solution to this problem and facilitate drug delivery across the BBB.Although nanomaterials are often used as carriers for PD treatment, their biological activity is ignored.Several studies in recent years have shown that nanomaterials can improve PD symptoms via their own nano-bio effects. In this review,we first summarize the physiological features of the BBB and then discuss the design of appropriate brain-targeted delivery nanoplatforms for PD treatment.Subsequently,we highlight the emerging strategies for crossing the BBB and the development of novel nanomaterials with anti-PD nano-biological effects. Finally,we discuss the current challenges in nanomaterial-based PD treatment and the future trends in this field. Our review emphasizes the clinical value of nanotechnology in PD treatment based on recent patents and could guide researchers working in this area in the future.Guowang Cheng Yujing Liu Rui Ma Guopan Cheng Yucheng Guan Xiaojia Chen Zhenfeng Wu Tongkai Chen 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,6:1
Adsorption of cyclohexene and its dehydrogenation intermediates on nAu/Pt(100)(n = 0, 1, 2) surfaces: A DFT study显示文摘Adsorption of cyclohexene and its dehydrogenation intermediates on the nAu/Pt(100) (n = 0, 1, 2 means clean Pt, one monolayer and two layers of Au covered Pt surfaces, respectively.) has been investigated by self-consistent (GGA-PW91) density functional theory combined with periodic slab model. It is found that on the clean platinum, there are two kinds of favorable adsorption sites, i.e., hollow sites and bridge sites, and the adsorption energy at the hollow site is larger than that at the bridge site. However, on the Au/Pt and 2Au/Pt surfaces, there are three kinds of adsorption sites, and the adsorption energies are alike at both the bridge site and the top site. The magnitude order of the adsorption energies is as follows: clean Pt > Au/Pt > 2Au/Pt. The configurations of cyclohexene molecule have been distorted a little during the geometry optimizations. The lengths of C–M (M = Pt or Au, on the top layer of the slab) bonds are closely related to the corresponding adsorption energies.Hongyan Ma Wenge Xu Zhenfeng Shang Guichang Wang 2011Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2011,20,1:0
A Method for Identifying Channeling Paths in Low-Permeability Fractured Reservoirs显示文摘Often oilfield fractured horizontal wells produce water flowing in multiple directions. In this study,a method to identify such channeling paths is developed. The dual-medium model is based on the principle of inter-well connectivity and considers the flow characteristics and related channeling terms. The Lorentz curve is drawn to qualitatively discern the geological type of the low-permeability fractured reservoir and determine the channeling direction and size. The practical application of such an approach to a sample oilfield shows that it can accurately identify the channeling paths of the considered low-permeability fractured reservoir and predict production performances according to the inter-well connectivity model. As a result, early detection of water channeling becomes possible, paving the way to real-time production system optimization in low-permeability fractured reservoirs.Zhenfeng Zhao Bin Li Zubo Su Lijing Chang Hongzheng Zhu Ming Liu Jialing Ma Fan Wang Qianwan Li 2022Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2022,18,6:0
Fauna characteristics and ecological distribution of Carnivora and Artiodactyla in Niubeiliang National Nature Reserve,China显示文摘Niubeiliang National Nature Reserve(NNR,108°45p-109°04p E,33°47p-33°56p N)is located on the east-ern range of the Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi Province,China and spans the southern and northern slopes of Mt.Qinling.A transect survey and investigation were carried out in NNR to determine the fauna characteristics and ecological distribution of carnivora and artiodactyla from May 2003 to August 2004.The NNR has 18 mammals(carnivore and artiodactyl),two of which belong to the first class and seven to the second class of state key protected wildlife in China. The results of this study indicated that ungulates were abun-dant in the NNR,as all ungulates that were distributed within Mt.Qinling could be found within the reserve. However, only 45.5%of the carnivores distributed within Mt.Qinling were detected within the NNR.Among the mammals, there were 12 oriental species(66.7%),1 palearctic specie(5.5%)and 5 widely-distributed species(27.8%).The NNR is a crossing area of palearctic species and oriental species on the zoogeo-graphical regions, and it is a transitional area from the oriental realm to the palearctic realm. The results of the analysis on the ecological distribution of carnivore and artiodactyl in the area showed that their elevation ranges had large differences. The species whose elevation ranges above 1300 m,about 1000 m,and in 450-700 m occupied one third respectively. The results also indicated that species richness for the mam-mals in the NNR peaked at a middle elevation(rising at first, then descending with the increase in elevation). Not only on the southern slope, but also on the northern slope of Mt.Qinling, the number of species distributed in the area at 1800-2200 m a.s.l.was the largest(more than 80%),while the number of species distributed in the area above 2600 m a.s.l.was the smallest(about 50%).Elevation gradients of species richness for the mammals in the NNR also embodied the mammal distributions among the vegetation types. The number of species distributed in the mixed coniferous and broadleaf deciduous forest at middle elevations was the larg-est,while the number of species distributed in the broadleaf deciduous forest at middle and low elevations, subalpine coniferous forest, subalpine shrubbery and meadow was relatively smaller.ZENG Zhigao SONG Yanling MA Yingtai WANG Xifeng WU Xuntao XIE Zhenfeng SHAO Jianbin LI Chunning 2007Frontiers in Biology2007,2,1:0

Ultrasmall Coordination Polymers for Alleviating ROS-Mediated Inflammatory and Realizing Neuroprotection against Parkinson's Disease显示文摘Parkinson's disease(PD)is the second most common neurodegenerative disease globally, and there is currently no effective treatment for this condition.Excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species(ROs)and neuroinflammation are major contributors to PD pathogenesis.Herein, ultrasmall nanoscale coordination polymers(NCPs)coordinated by ferric ions and natural product curcumin(Cur)were exploited, showing efficient neuroprotection by scavenging excessive radicals and suppressing neuroinflammation. In a 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine(MPTP)-induced mouse PD model, such ultrasmall Fe-Cur NCPs with prolonged blood circulation and BBB traversing capability could effectively alleviate oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and inflammatory condition in the midbrain and striatum to reduce PD symptoms. Thus, this study puts forth a unique type of therapeutics-based NCPs that could be used for safe and efficient treatment of PD with potential in clinical translation.Guowang Cheng Xueliang Liu Yujing Liu Yao Liu Rui Ma Jingshan Luo Xinyi Zhou Zhenfeng Wu Zhuang Liu Tongkai Chen Yu Yang 2022Research2022,,4:0
Glutamine metabolic microenvironment drives M2 macrophage polarization tomediate trastuzumab resistance in HER2-positive gastric cancer显示文摘Background:Trastuzumab is a first-line targeted therapy for human epidermal growth factor receptor-2(HER2)-positive gastric cancer. However, the inevitable occurrence of acquired trastuzumab resistance limits the drug benefit, and there is currently no effective reversal measure.Existing researches on the mechanism of trastuzumab resistance mainly focused on tumor cells themselves, while the understanding of the mechanisms of environment-mediated drug resistance is relatively lacking. This study aimed to further explore the mechanisms of trastuzumab resistance to identify strategies to promote survival in these patients.Methods:Trastuzumab-sensitive and trastuzumab-resistant HER2-positive tumor tissues and cells were collected for transcriptome sequencing.Bioinformatics were used to analyze cell subtypes, metabolic pathways, and molecular signaling pathways.Changes in microenvironmental indicators(such as macrophage, angiogenesis, and metabolism)were verified by immunofluorescence(IF)and immunohistochemical(IHC)analyses. Finally,a multi-scale agent-based model(ABM)was constructed. The effects of combination treatment were further validated in nude mice to verify these effects predicted by the ABM.Results:Based on transcriptome sequencing, molecular biology, and in vivo experiments,we found that the level of glutamine metabolism in trastuzumabresistant HER2-positive cells was increased, and glutaminase 1(GLS1)was significantly overexpressed.Meanwhile,tumor-derived GLS1 microvesicles drove M2macrophage polarization.Furthermore, angiogenesis promoted trastuzumab resistance.IHC showed high glutamine metabolism,M2 macrophage polarization, and angiogenesis in trastuzumab-resistant HER2-positive tumor tissues from patients and nudemice.Mechanistically, the cell division cycle 42(CDC42)promoted GLS1 expression in tumor cells by activating nuclear factor kappa-B(NF-κB)p65 and drove GLS1microvesicle secretion through IQmotif-containing GTPase-activating protein 1(IQGAP1).Based on the ABM and in vivo experiments,we confirmed that the combination of anti-glutamine metabolism,anti-angiogenesis,and pro-M1 polarization therapy had the best effect in reversing trastuzumab resistance in HER2-positive gastric cancer. Conclusions:This study revealed that tumor cells secrete GLS1 microvesicles via CDC42 to promote glutamine metabolism,M2 macrophage polarization, and pro-angiogenic function of macrophages, leading to acquired trastuzumab resistance in HER2-positive gastric cancer.A combination of anti-glutamine metabolism,anti-angiogenesis,and pro-M1 polarization therapy may provide a new insight into reversing trastuzumab resistance.Xingbin Hu Zhenfeng Ma Beibei Xu Shulong Li Zhiqi Yao Bishan Liang Jiao Wang Wangjun Liao Li Lin Chunling Wang Siting Zheng Qijing Wu Qiong Huang Le Yu Fenghua Wang Min Shi 2023Cancer Communications2023,43,8:0
Three-dimensional organic cage with narrowband delayed fluorescence显示文摘A new type of simple emissive organic cage consisting of diphenyl sulfone units and nitrogen atoms was developed via one-pot C–N coupling condensation or two-step reactions along with a series of sulfoxide cages obtained, which exhibited excellent chemical modifiability and structural stability. By precisely controlling the participation of donor and acceptor units, a highly soluble organic cage with delayed fluorescence was obtained for the first time. More interestingly, due to the restriction of intramolecular flipping by locking the building blocks within a rigid framework, this emissive organic cage further showed narrowband ultra-deep blue electroluminescence emission at 413 nm with a full-width at half-maximum of 35 nm. This finding not only expands the family of electroluminescent organic cages, but also opens up a new platform for delayed fluorescence materials with high solubility and color purity.Yingyuan Hu Jingwen Yao Zeng Xu Zhenfeng Wang Li Li Shi-Jian Su Dongge Ma Fei Huang 2020Science China Chemistry2020,63,7:0
