| 1 | Visualization Experiments of a Specific Fuel Flow Through Quartz-glass Tubes Under both Sub- and Supercritical Conditions显示文摘The present work is a visualization study of a typical kerosene (RP-3) flowing through vertical and horizontal quartz-glass tubes under both suband supercritical conditions by a high speed camera. The experiments are accomplished at temperatures of 300-730 K under pressures from 0.107-5 MPa. Six distinctive two-phase flow patterns are observed in upward flow and the critical point of RP-3 is identified as critical pressure pc=2.33 MPa and critical temperature Tc=645.04 K and it is found that when the fluid pressure exceeds 2.33 MPa the flow can be considered as a single phase flow. The critical opalescence phenomenon of RP-3 is observed when the temperature is between 643.16 K and 648.61 K and the pressure is between 2.308 MPa and 2.366 MPa. The region filled by the critical opalescence in the upward flow is clearly larger than that in the downward flow due to the interaction between the buoyancy force and fluid inertia. | 2 | Large-eddy simulation of the generation and propagation of internal solitary waves显示文摘A modified large-eddy simulation model,the dynamic coherent eddy model(DCEM)is employed to simulate the generation and propagation of internal solitary waves(ISWs)of both depression and elevation type,with wave amplitudes ranging from small,medium to large scales.The simulation results agree well with the existing experimental data.The generation process of ISWs is successfully captured by the DCEM method.Shear instabilities and diapycnal mixing in the initial wave generation phase are observed.The dissipation rate is not equal at different locations of an ISW.ISW-induced velocity field is analyzed in the present study.The structure of the bottom boundary layer(BBL)of internal wave packets is found to be different from that of a single ISW.A reverse boundary jet instead of a separation bubble exists behind the leading internal wave while separation bubbles appear in other parts of the wave-induced velocity field.The boundary jet flow resulting from the adverse pressure gradients has distinctive dynamics compared with free shear jets. | ZHU Hai WANG LingLing TANG HongWu | 2014 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2014,57,6: | 6 |
| 3 | Investigation of flow resistance characteristics of endothermic hydrocarbon fuel under supercritical pressures显示文摘The characteristics of flow resistance of a typical hydrocarbon fuel(RP-3)flowthrough adiabatic horizontal miniature tubes at supercritical pressures are experimentallyinvestigated for both laminar and turbulent flow.The experiments are conducted by using along tube measuring section and a short tube measuring section simultaneously in order toeliminate the effect of local pressure drop.In these experiments,the temperature of RP-3changes from(295 to 789)K and the reduced pressure(P/Pc,Pc=2.33 MPa)ranges from 1 to2.58,the mass flux is up to 1572.7 kg/(m^(2).s).Test results indicate that frictional pressuredrops for various supercritical pressures at the same mass flux can be considered as equalwith each other when the reduced temperature Tb/Tpc<0.95.When Tb/Tpc>0.95,differenceappears and increases with the increase of Tb/Tpc.Additionally,the friction factor(f)of thesupercritical fluid for turbulent flow has a critical value at Tb/Tpc=1,the values of f at thispoint for all pressures and mass fluxes are equal with each other.Moreover,at the same massflux,there are two comresponding friction factors for the same Re,one is in the region of Tb/Tpc<1,the other is in the region of Tb/Tpc> 1.Finally, classical conelations of frictionfactor is inapplicable when Tb/Tpc>0.95 at supercritical pressure and a new coelation hasbeen obtained based on the experimental data. | Chunben Zhang Guoqiang Xu Hongwu Deng Kun Zhu | 2013 | Propulsion and Power Research2013,2,2: | 6 |
| 4 | Research on Pick-up Feature of ESP Recording Charts Based on Bitmap Images显示文摘During the oil production, in order to monitor the working conditions of an electrical submersible pump (ESP), an electrical current recorder is used to monitor the electric motor current of an ESP. The recorder charts indicate various working conditions of the ESP. Subtle malfunctions or abnormal problems of the ESP can be detected and further analyzed from various features of these current curves on the recording charts. Presently, these current charts are manually read and analyzed in oil fields. In this paper, a diagnosis expert system is presented for automatically analyzing these current recording charts and identifying the working condition of the ESP. This expert system includes an open knowledge base, which can be updated or enriched according to the identified features of the current curves on the recording charts, and a condition monitoring and failure pattern recognition method, which is called 'pick-up method of feature of the recording chart', and can be correctly applied in most cases. | 6 | Numerical Investigation of a High-subsonic Axial-flow Compressor Rotor with Non-axisymmetric Hub Endwall显示文摘The major source of loss in modern compressors is the secondary loss.Non-axisymmetric endwall profile contouring is now a well established design methodology in axial flow turbines.However,flow development in axial compressors is differ from turbines,the effects of non-axisymmetric endwall to axial compressors requires flow analysis in detail.This paper presents both experimental and numerical data to deal with the application of a non-axisymmetric hub endwall in a high-subsonic axial-flow compressor.The aims of the experiment here were to make sure the numerically obtained flow fields is the physical mechanism responsible for the improvement in efficiency,due to the non-axisymmetric hub endwall.The computational results were first compared with available measured data of axisymmetric hub endwall.The results agreed well with the experimental data for estimation of the global performance.The coupled flow of the compressor rotor with non-axisymmetric hub endwall was simulated by a state-of-the-art multi-block flow solver.The non-axisymmetric hub endwall was designed for a subsonic compressor rotor with the help of sine and cosine functions.This type of non-axisymmetric hub endwall was found to have a significant improvement in efficiency of 0.45% approximately and a slightly increase for the total pressure ratio.The fundamental mechanisms of non-axisymmetric hub endwall and their effects on the subsonic axial-flow compressor endwall flow field were analyzed in detail.It is concluded that the non-axisymmetric endwall profiling,though not optimum,can mitigate the secondary flow in the vicinity of the hub endwall,resulting in the improvement of aerodynamic performance of the compressor rotor. | Shuzhen Hu Xingen Lu Hongwu Zhang Junqiang Zhu Qiang Xu | 2010 | Journal of Thermal Science2010,19,1: | 4 |

| 14 | Auxin signaling module OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF regulates grain yield traits in rice显示文摘Auxin is an important phytohormone in plants, and auxin signaling pathways in rice play key roles in regulating its growth, development, and productivity. To investigate how rice grain yield traits are regulated by auxin signaling pathways and to facilitate their application in rice improvement, we validated the functional relationships among regulatory genes such as OsIAA10, OsSK41, and OsARF21 that are involved in one of the auxin(OsIAA10) signaling pathways. We assessed the phenotypic effects of these genes on several grain yield traits across two environments using knockout and/or overexpression transgenic lines.Based on the results, we constructed a model that showed how grain yield traits were regulated by OsIAA10 and OsTIR1, OsAFB2, and OsSK41 and OsmiR393 in the OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF module and by OsARF21 in the transcriptional regulation of downstream auxin response genes in the OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF module. The population genomic analyses revealed rich genetic diversity and the presence of major functional alleles at most of these loci in rice populations. The strong differentiation of many major alleles between Xian/indica and Geng/japonica subspecies and/or among modern varieties and landraces suggested that they contributed to improved productivity during evolution and breeding.
