| 2 | Abrupt Holocene changes of the Asian monsoon at millen-nial-and centennial-scales: Evidence from lake sediment document in Minqin Basin, NW China显示文摘Considerable research is now focusing on abrupt Holocene changes at millennial- and centennial-scales all over the world. This study shows that the changes in theHolocene summer monsoon can be divided into two main periods, based on climatic proxy records of lake sediments from the Sanjiaocheng section located at the NW boundary of the summer monsoon, Gansu Province. The early and middle Holocene was humid with stronger summer monsoon, while the late Holocene is dry with weak summer monsoon. Detailed results also show a series of millennial- and centennial-scale changes in the intensity of the summer monsoon, with a periodicity of 1600 years during the whole Holocene, and with a periodicity of 800 years during the early Holocene. Ten dry events during the Holocene are associated with the weakening of the summer monsoon. | 4 | Frequent Mutation of rs13281615 and Its Association with PVT1 Expression and Cell Proliferation in Breast Cancer显示文摘The q24 band of chromosome 8(8q24)is frequently amplified in human cancers including breast cancer,and several SNPs(single nucleotide polymorphisms)at 8q24,including rs13281615,have been identified for their association with cancer risks.These SNPs are in a'gene desert'region,and their functions in cancer development remain to be illustrated,although several of the SNPs appear to influence the genes in the'desert'in a long-range manner,including the v-myc avian myelocytomatosis viral oncogene homolog(MYC)and the nonprotein coding plasmacytoma variant translocation 1(PVT1),both of which have been implicated in human cancers.In the current study,we examined rs13281615 for its potential role in breast cancer using normal and cancer tissues from 121 Chinese women with breast cancer.In addition to confirming the association of the GG genotype of rs13281615 with breast cancer risk,we found that germline GG genotype was significantly associated with estrogen receptor(ER)positivity,higher tumor grade and higher proliferation index.We also found frequent somatic mutations(22/121 or 18.2%)of this SNP in breast cancer.Interestingly,the majority of the mutations(17/22 or 77%)involved a G/A change,resulting in a decrease in the number of cancers with the GG risk genotype and subsequent loss of GG association with higher tumor grade and proliferation index in cancers.Furthermore,PVT1 expression was increased in cancers,and the increase was associated with the GG genotype of rs13281615.These results suggest that the GG genotype of SNP rs13281615 plays a role in breast cancer likely by influencing PVT1 expression,and that during oncogenesis,'protective'mutations could occur. | Zhiqian Zhang Zhengmao Zhu Baotong Zhang Weidong Li Xin Li Xiao Wu Lijuan Wang Liya Fu Li Fu Jin-Tang Dong | 2014 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2014,41,4: | 12 |

| 6 | Induction of OTUD4 by viral infection promotes antiviral responses through deubiquitinating and stabilizing MAVS显示文摘The activity and stability of the adapter protein MAVS (also known as VISA, Cardif and IPS-1), which critically mediates cellular antiviral responses, are extensively regulated by ubiquitination. However, the process whereby MAVS is deubiquitinated is unclear. Here, we report that the ovarian tumor family deubiquitinase 4 (OTUD4) targets MAVS for deubiquitination. Viral infection leads to the IRF3/7-dependent upregulation of OTUD4 which interacts with MAVS to remove K48-linked polyubiquitin chains, thereby maintaining MAVS stability and promoting innate antiviral signaling. Knockout or knockdown of OTUD4 impairs RNA virus-triggered activation of IRF3 and NF-κB, expression of their downstream target genes, and potentiates VSV replication in vitro and in vivo. Consistently, Cre-ER Otud4fl/fl or Lyz2-Cre Otud4fl/fl mice produce decreased levels of type I interferons and proinflammatory cytokines and exhibit increased sensitivity to VSV infection compared to their control littermates. In addition, reconstitution of MAVS into OTUD4-deficient cells restores virus-induced expression of downstream genes and cellular antiviral responses. | 7 | CiteOpinion: Evidence-based Evaluation Tool for Academic Contributions of Research Papers Based on Citing Sentences显示文摘Purpose:To uncover the evaluation information on the academic contribution of research papers cited by peers based on the content cited by citing papers,and to provide an evidencebased tool for evaluating the academic value of cited papers.Design/methodology/approach:CiteOpinion uses a deep learning model to automatically extract citing sentences from representative citing papers;it starts with an analysis on the citing sentences,then it identifies major academic contribution points of the cited paper,positive/negative evaluations from citing authors and the changes in the subjects of subsequent citing authors by means of Recognizing Categories of Moves(problems,methods,conclusions,etc.),and sentiment analysis and topic clustering.Findings:Citing sentences in a citing paper contain substantial evidences useful for academic evaluation.They can also be used to objectively and authentically reveal the nature and degree of contribution of the cited paper reflected by citation,beyond simple citation statistics.Practical implications:The evidence-based evaluation tool CiteOpinion can provide an objective and in-depth academic value evaluation basis for the representative papers of scientific researchers,research teams,and institutions.Originality/value:No other similar practical tool is found in papers retrieved.Research limitations:There are difficulties in acquiring full text of citing papers.There is a need to refine the calculation based on the sentiment scores of citing sentences.Currently,the tool is only used for academic contribution evaluation,while its value in policy studies,technical application,and promotion of science is not yet tested. | Xiaoqiu Le Jingdan Chu Siyi Deng Qihang Jiao Jingjing Pei Liya Zhu Junliang Yao | 2019 | Journal of Data and Information Science2019,4,4: | 6 |

| 9 | Intrinsic chemiluminescence production from the degradation of haloaromatic pollutants during environmentally-friendly advanced oxidation processes:Mechanism,structure-activity relationship and potential applications显示文摘The ubiquitous distribution of halogenated aromatic compounds(XAr) coupled with their carcinogenicity has raised public concerns on their potential risks to both human health and the ecosystem. Recently, advanced oxidation processes(AOPs) have been considered as an'environmentally-friendly' technology for the remediation and destruction of such recalcitrant and highly toxic XAr. During our study on the mechanism of metal-independent production of hydroxyl radicals(UOH) by halogenated quinones and H_2O_2, we found, unexpectedly, that an unprecedented UOH-dependent two-step intrinsic chemiluminescene(CL) can be produced by H_2O_2 and tetrachloro-p-benzoquinone, the major carcinogenic metabolite of the widely used wood preservative pentachlorophenol. Further investigations showed that, in all UOH-generating systems, CL can also be produced not only by pentachlorophenol and all other halogenated phenols, but also by all XAr tested. A systematic structure–activity relationship study for all 19 chlorophenolic congeners showed that the CL increased with an increasing number of Cl-substitution in general. More importantly, a relatively good correlation was observed between the formation of quinoid/semiquinone radical intermediates and CL generation. Based on these results, we propose that UOH-dependent formation of quinoid intermediates and electronically excited carbonyl species is responsible for this unusual CL production; and a rapid, sensitive,simple, and effective CL method was developed not only to detect and quantify trace amount of XAr, but also to provide useful information for predicting the toxicity or monitoring real-time degradation kinetics of XAr. | 11 | Energy Conversion Efficiency of Rainbow Shape Piezoelectric Transducer显示文摘With the aim to enhance the energy conversion efficiency of the rainbow shape piezoelectric transducer, an analysis model of energy conversion efficiency is established based on the elastic mechanics theory and piezoelectricity theory. It can be found that the energy conversion efficiency of the rainbow shape piezoelectric transducer mainly depends on its shape parameters and material properties from the analysis model. Simulation results show that there is an optimal length ratio to generate maximum energy conversion efficiency and the optimal length ratios and energy conversion efficiencies of beryllium bronze substrate transducer and steel substrate transducer are (0.65, 2.21%) and (0.65, 1.64%) respectively. The optimal thickness ratios and energy conversion efficiencies of beryllium bronze substrate transducer and steel substrate transducer are (1.16, 2.56%) and (1.49, 1.57%) respectively. With the increase of width ratio and initial curvature radius, both the energy conversion efficiencies decrease. | 12 | Methylesterification of cell-wall pectin controls the diurnal flower-opening times in rice显示文摘Flowers are the core reproductive organ of plants, and flowering is essential for cross-pollination. Diurnal flower-opening time is thus a key trait influencing reproductive isolation, hybrid breeding, and thermostability in plants. However, the molecular mechanisms controlling this trait remain unknown. Here, we report that rice Diurnal Flower Opening Time 1 (DFOT1) modulates pectin methylesterase (PME) activity to regulate pectin methylesterification levels of the lodicule cell walls, which affect lodicule swelling to control diurnal flower-opening time. DFOT1 is specifically expressed in the lodicules, and its expression gradually increases with the approach to flowering but decreases with flowering. Importantly, a knockout of DFOT1 showed earlier diurnal flower opening. We demonstrate that DFOT1 interacts directly with multiple PMEs to promote their activity. Knockout of PME40 also resulted in early diurnal flower opening, whereas overexpression of PME42 delayed diurnal flower opening. Lower PME activity was observed to be associated with higher levels of pectin methylesterification and the softening of cell walls in lodicules, which contribute to the absorption of water by lodicules and cause them to swell, thus promoting early diurnal flower opening. Higher PME activity had the opposite effect. | 13 | Ubiquitinome Profiling Reveals the Landscape of Ubiquitination Regulation in Rice Young Panicles显示文摘Ubiquitination,an essential post-transcriptional modification(PTM),plays a vital role in nearly every biological process,including development and growth.Despite its functions in plant reproductive development,its targets in rice panicles remain unclear.In this study,we used proteome-wide profiling of lysine ubiquitination in rice(O.sativa ssp.indica)young panicles.We created the largest ubiquitinome dataset in rice to date,identifying 1638 lysine ubiquitination sites on916 unique proteins.We detected three conserved ubiquitination motifs,noting that acidic glutamic acid(E)and aspartic acid(D)were most frequently present around ubiquitinated lysine.Enrichment analysis of Gene Ontology(GO)annotations and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathways of these ubiquitinated proteins revealed that ubiquitination plays an important role in fundamental cellular processes in rice young panicles.Interestingly,enrichment analysis of protein domains indicated that ubiquitination was enriched on a variety of receptorlike kinases and cytoplasmic tyrosine and serine-threonine kinases.Furthermore,we analyzed the crosstalk between ubiquitination,acetylation,and succinylation,and constructed a potential protein interaction network within our rice ubiquitinome.Moreover,we identified ubiquitinated proteins related to pollen and grain development,indicating that ubiquitination may play a critical role in the physiological functions in young panicles.Taken together,we reported the most comprehensive lysine ubiquitinome in rice so far,and used it to reveal the functional role of lysine ubiquitination in rice young panicles. | Liya Zhu Han Cheng Guoqing Peng Shuansuo Wang Zhiguo Zhang Erdong Ni Xiangdong Fu Chuxiong Zhuang Zexian Liu Hai Zhou | 2020 | Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2020,18,3: | 2 |

| 16 | A non-linear finite element model of human L4-L5 lumbar spinal segment with three-dimensional solid element ligaments显示文摘This paper establishes a non-linear finite element model (NFEM) of L4-L5 lumbar spinal segment with accurate three-dimensional solid ligaments and intervertebral disc. For the purpose, the intervertebral disc and surrounding ligaments are modeled with four-nodal three-dimensional tetrahedral elements with hyper-elastic material properties. Pure moment of 10 N·m without preload is applied to the upper vertebral body under the loading conditions of lateral bending, backward extension, torsion, and forward flexion, respectively. The simulate relationship curves between generalized forces and generalized displacement of the NFEM are compared with the in vitro experimental result curves to verify NFEM. | 20 | Lysosomal Hydrolase Cathepsin D Non-proteolytically Modulates Dendritic Morphology in Drosophila显示文摘The main lysosomal protease cathepsin D(cathD)is essential for maintaining tissue homeostasis via its degradative function,and its loss leads to ceroid accumulation in the mammalian nervous system,which results in progressive neurodegeneration.Increasing evidence implies non-proteolytic roles of cathD in regulating various biological processes such as apoptosis,cell proliferation,and migration.Along these lines,we here showed that cathD is required for modulating dendritic architecture in the nervous system independent of its traditional degradative function.Upon cathD depletion,class I and class III arborization(da)neurons in Drosophila larvae exhibited aberrant dendritic morphology,including overbranching,aberrant turning,and elongation defects.Reintroduction of wild-type cathD or its proteolyticallyinactive mutant dramatically abolished these morphological defects.Moreover,cathD knockdown also led to dendritic defects in the adult mushroom bodies,suggesting that cathD-mediated processes are required in both the peripheral and central nervous systems.Taken together,our results demonstrate a critical role of cathD in shaping dendritic architecture independent of its proteolytic function. | Ting Zhang Daxiao Cheng Cunjin Wu Xingyue Wang Qiang Ke Huifang Lou Liya Zhu Xiao-Dong Wang Shumin Duan Yi-Jun Liu | 2020 | Neuroscience Bulletin2020,36,10: | 1 |
